[Q] Let's talk about AMAZE

So, I found out about Amaze when it came to my carrier, and I start to feel the urge to own it. I'm currently using a HTC Panache (or in the states, you would call it MyTouch), and feeling okay about it. But it's a single core phone, ofc, it's slower than Amaze in comparing solely on CPU (or w.e they call a mobile processor). I do understand that data and hardware can not be tested for a phone's performance only when it's connected to a ROM, apps...So, Let's talk about how do YOU think of AMAZE so far?
Here's what I know:
-Great Cam
-NO S-off(most of them)
-Not many customized ROMS
-ICS is COMMING!
-There's one custom kernel that can do overclock
What I am interested:
-How smooth is it?
-What are some of the customize ROMS' benefits?
-How's the battery life?
-Are there a lot of bugs? Are they affecting your daily usage of the phone?
-What's the performance of video and audio on this phone?
-DO YOU LIKE THE PHONE? (99.99% SATISFACTION)
Thanks a lot guys!
5 mins search and you will find answers to what you are looking for.

I've owned mine for about a month and love it so far.
It's very smooth. No lags throughout anything really. Should be even better (if that's possible?) once ICS hits.
Haven't tried any of the ROMs yet.
Battery life not so great for me on stock ROM unfortunately. However, I must admit that I generally like to use the screen on full brightness which definitely drains battery faster. Still, battery life on this phone hasn't really impressed me much. It's the only reason I've really considered using a custom ROM. (However, I've decided to wait until the official ICS comes through before deciding on rooting and such).
Only bug I really have is that the lights on the buttons at the bottom of the phone behave weirdly for me. They are on and off randomly. I think others have complained about the same possibly.
Performance of video and audio are great for me. Phone speaker is not the best but is definitely adequate.
I love the phone. The build quality is amazing. It looks fantastic. And it is much thinner in real life than in pictures. That kind of scared me when shopping this phone - the pics made it look really fat. In reality, due to the design of this phone it looks thin and sleek. It actually seems slimmer than my old phone which on paper is thinner than the Amaze. The camera is excellent. Sense is very nice imo (but not everyone's thing). Screen is very good. And ICS very soon! All in all very happy with this.

Battery life while gaming, and onex screen

Guys I'm planning on getting this phone after i return my one x and i wanted to know what's the gaming battery life like?
Thanks guys.
Also people who had the one x how do you find the screen on the s3??
I've got the One X and the GS3, I prefer the One X overall, GS3 will always be a second choice for me,
One X screen is very much brighter than GS3. One X screen colours a bit wash off and black is not so black. However, One X screen is better in movies as I find it showing much better details especially in dark scenes compare to GS3.
Not much difference in term of gaming on battery life for both GS3 and One X.
If screen quality is deal breaker for u, then go for One X. Else GS3 is better choice. I choose GS3 any day over One X
Oh ya, 4300mAh battery already available for GS3.... Ho ho, no problem to play games whole day

Battery life is better on the sgs3 as it's a bigger battery, it's quite simple really.
Also when you ask a question be careful to not get a biased opinion, people with the One X are always going to favour their own phone.
Not saying the One X is a bad phone at all, because it's not, but in terms of screen quality, the SGS3 stands alone.
Gaming is going to be better on the SGS3, not by much but it will be smoother and battery life will be better, plus you always have the option to buy a massive battery from the likes of Mugen, Seido or Anker.

Had both, screen on the HOX is much much much better, there is really no discussion in that.
To be honest, screen of the SIII sux. It gives me a headache with those grainy edges.
I still have the SIII cuz of build issues with all the hoxes I had. I gave up on the HOX.
besides all the build issues the screen looks a bit better on the one x, but you still have the flickering and the flex, it's been on all 5 hox's i've seen. The S3 has none if this but it's not as bright but black is black, and the pentile is noticeable if you like me have a very good eyesight but no dealbreaker.
everything else is better with the s3. The screen time is double, I could get 3h straight on full brightness on the HOX, I got 6h straight with 8% left on my S3 and that's after ONE charge and no updates.
Thanx very much guys
I do love the screen on my one x and the developer support that the one x has for games and apps. But most get non tegra versions anyway so no biggie.
The battery life is the main thing so i think I'm going s3 and I'm getting the s3 version

emmm how can htc one x last longer when it uses 40nm quad cpu, lcd screen+1800mah battery? while s3 cpu is better in performance and battery consumption, s3 screen also consumes much lower battery than lcd and battery 2100mah? ^^

Screen must be 100% brightness

So we have a great phone with a horrible screen brightness problem.
Samsung touts its great battery life, (well yah with a dim screen).
I find I must always use 100% brightness setting to make the screen
even 1/2 as bright as my older phones (Evo, etc.). Even at 100% brightness,
white is not white, it is grey/light brown and the battery only lasts a few hours.
Very sad, I wish we could do something about this. And if you look closely,
a lot of colors are really a color with a grid pattern all over it. I am 47 and my
eyes are not that great, but pentile still sucks IMO, no matter how much
review sites rave about the great screen (yah it is big and crisp), but it
still is a dim sucky screen.

What would be the difference between GS3 %100 brightness and 75% brightness HTC one X in terms of battery?

actually, s3 at full brighness is one x at around half, maybe 40 percent
blazed from my Viper Bitten One X
You can get like a 4300 to 4500 mah extended battery off ebay or amazon
with a back cover for like $20. Then the phone will last twice as long, more
than enough to cover a heavy day at 100% brightness. Plus it will make the
phone thicker, I can't stand how thin and delicate the GS3 is, it practically
slips out of your hand, they should have made the phone thicker with a
bigger battery to begin with (Droid Max).
Turn off auto adjust screen time option in the display settings to make your screen brighter. It'll make your whites better as well.

In regards of battery, don't trust third party brands unless if they are authorized by the maker themselves. For batteries, third parties usuallly suck in many ways, in worst cases, overheating.

I wouldn't go that far. I had my GS3 turned up to 100% earlier today and compared it to my sister's Evo 4G LTE, and it was practically the same brightness. I assumed her phone was set to around 50-60%, but when I checked her settings, it was set to 100%. Hers was a bit brighter, obviously, but they were a lot closer brightness-wise than I thought they'd be.
If you need your brightness at 100%, you may want to get your eyes checked. Also, which you might already be aware of this, Samsung roms have a brightness setting in the internet browser as well.

That is strange. I have not experienced this at all. I have both the GS3 and the original Evo and they seem about the same at 100%. The GS3 is, (to my eyes) easier to see because of the contrast. Meaning I feel like I can get away with setting the brightness to a lower setting without sacrificing readability. As for battery life I'm getting a consistent 14 hours with moderate to heavy use. (It's a new toy, I can't put it down.)
Hopefully you can compare your phone to another, see if they're any different.
I have mine at 75ish % the auto is pretty garbage. I can't wait till cm9/10.

I don't need my eyes checked.
Forget about the whites not even being as white as the Evo.
Try a game like ShadowGun, even at 100% brightness the game
is dim and oversaturated colors. On the Evo the game is significantly
brighter and objects/details are easier seen, not everything is dark.
This phone gets GREAT blacks, but everything is darker because of it.
I had the HOX. **** phone. The screen on the SG3 is much better.

A few questions

hey guys i have a few questions for you all that have a DNA right now, as I am thinking of getting one myself. First off I just want to hear for sure about the battery life, and all i want to know about it is what it will be compared to my rezound battery life which i am mostly pleased with. Also, overall how is the feel of the phone (size, sense 4+, etc) and last do you guys think that there is gonna be a DNA+ released like the One X? I am only asking because I have the option to upgrade in February, or i can give that to my mom and wait for her May upgrade, which would put it at about the six month of the DNA being released and thats about when the X+ was released. So do you all think im crazy for hoping for that or what? Any input would be greatly appreciated

The battery life and smoothness is much better than the resound, but I would wait till your upgrade to see if there are any better phones then you can't really predict right now

I upgraded to my DNA from a Rezound, and I am very pleased. The battery life is infinitely better - whereas my Rezound had trouble making it past noon, my DNA lasts me all day with more usage. Performance is noticeably smoother and faster, and the operating temperature is significantly lower. I was initially concerned about the size of the screen but it turns out 5" is a lot more manageable on this phone than you'd think. The build quality is superb, and the way the glass curves off the sides of the screen is awesome. Sense 4+ is also very nice, and is very functional while looking great. I'd recommend for you to go play with one in real life at a store; I think you'll like it a lot more than your Rezound.

Definitely a nice upgrade from the Rezound. My only issue with Sense 4+ is the way it handles animations. It (to more users than just myself) seems a bit slower than other UIs. Using another launcher will make everything run buttery smooth. Minus the lack of expandable storage, I love it. it's funny to show off the screen to my friends who have Note 2's and are jealous.
I am coming from the Incredible 2 and have had no complaints. I've had the phone since it came out and had only had it die on me once (with auto brightness on).
Pros:
Fast scrolling
Hasn't froze on me yet
Can handle multitasking like a champ
Great battery life
Comes with beats audio
1080p HD screen
8MP camera
2 MP (i think) wide angle front camera
fast 4g LTE
and more...
Cons:
Gets a little warm at times
Odd to hold at first (because its big)
The charger port is covered by a plastic flap (just rip it off)
No removable storage
The 16GB of memory is really only 11GB

buy an extra battery for s4 zoom just in case

Even though it is bulky and not popular, I am so glad I went for it, great deal! Pretty impressive camera crammed into a great smartphone. I personally think the quality is good enough to beat those small cameras..lol.. I’ve been tempted for long time.
My only concern was its battery life between a smartphone and camera will drain fast, but the worry soon dismiss since I hands-on it one month ago. It can easily last one day from moderate to heavy use, but I still pick up an addictional battery( have used once n worked good) from mpj and going to use it when i go on trips or i know im gonna be taking a lot of pictures and have a long working day….
Anyway, I think I can’t live without this new feature already.
