PS3 BT controller with our SGS2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible ? I'd want to play some emu games with a controller, and i wonder if i could buy a ps3 one and connect it through bluetooth. I saw there is an app called sixaxis controller or something, and there is also an sixaxis controller check (chek phone support) and my sgs2 didnt go through the check apparently (incorrect BT address o think, lots of zeros at the end).
And if a ps3 one is impossible, tho i hope it is, which other cheap controller i could buy ?

The Sixasis app works fine.

And did it work for you ? Anyone ?

Yes, otherwise I wouldn't have said it did.

Why do you assume that the bluetooth address given to you by the app was incorrect? If the compatibility checker popped up a message stating that your device is supported, then it is.

Sixaxis with sgs2 on miui rom

Hi folks,
Seen youtube vids of people playing games with the ps3 pad. Now ive read up and it says u need aosp drivers unless ur on miui rom.
Does anybody have miui rom installed and using the sixaxis?
I use miui rom so wanted to know if its as simple as using the sixaxis app frim market and then pairing, or do i have to manually pair using the pc app too, even though im using miui?
Also which emulator apps are recommended with the sixaxis controller?

Such a hard thing to find out yourself, allow me to help.
Sixaxis Controller - Android Market
Due to the way pairing is done with the controllers, you need to manually pair your controller with the PC utility 'SixaxisPairTool' (available on the website) and a mini-USB cable.
If you're unsure if it will work on your MIUI ROM, use the Sixaxis Compatibility Checker.
Yeah i read that bit on the market page too, thanks.
Want to find out if anybody has done it and what happens after you disconnect from phone as
Nobody mentions anything about using the pad with the ps3 again after pairing with the phone either. Would the mac address for the controller need to changed again to work with ps3?

To use it with the PS3, you'd need to connect it to the PS3 using the cable to let it pair. Afterwards if you wanted to use it with your phone again, you'd have to use the utility on a computer. The controller is only paired with one bluetooth MAC address at a time.
Perfect. Cheers mate. Cant hit thanks button from the phone app otherwise i would have. Cheers

[Sixaxis] Gameplay footage of Modern Combat 3

Here's a video I made to show how well the Touch Profiles on Sixaxis work with Modern Combat 3.
Youtube Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zdun...xt=C3b507b5UDOEgsToPDskIlqKtzCzTBP9c1_easnp3F
Update: I added my touch profile for download in the description on Youtube.
Your gonna wanna go into the game controller settings and turn the sensitivity all the way down and then play with it and go up from there. The default setting is way to high and makes it hard to aim.
Yeah I've been playing MC3 with sixaxis controller as well, it's hella fun. Although it's a bit hard to aim, I probably need to fool around with the analog settings a bit more.

I used my samsung usb adater to plug in my PS3 controller. Then i used the program called Sixaxis from the market to pair the PS3 controller to my Galaxy Tab 10.1
The program itself is the key it's what allows you to make touch profiles for all your games so you can use the controller instead of the touch screen controls.
OP updated.
oh okay thank you

Best Game Emulators?

Just wondering what emulators you guys recommend ? Used to use Nesoid for my DX and my wii controller and loved it. Would prefer to use an Xbox controller but not sure if that's possible. Thanks.

Hey just saw your post and thought I'd mention the one I've been using because I use them pretty often. I was a big nesoid fan until I recently found NES EMU on the Market. I can't think of the guys name off hand but he also has one for Sega, neo geo, colleco, and some others I'm forgetting. Anyway they are extremely well made and compatible with Bluetooth controllers so I definitely recommend them. I'm not sure about using an Xbox controller, but I know you can use a ps3 controller with the app called Sixaxis Controller by Dancing Pixel Studios. I set up touch profiles for MC3, Shadowgun, and Gta 3, and it's almost like having a portable console! I played through and beat MC3 with my ps3 controller and the controls are almost flawless. I'd also recommend fpse for PlayStation games and n64oid for Nintendo 64 games.
Awesome man thanks, can you load and save games?

Hey sorry it took so long but yes you can save and load games. You can even set it to auto-save and you can access it all with a ps3 controller if you're using one. I'm impressed with the overall setup on all of his emulators. Hope it works out for ya man cause they are definitely my new favorites. I've also been messing around with the touch profiles in the Sixaxis Controller app, and if you have a ps3 controller hooked up you have to try Modern Combat 3 with it. I think it's a great game and nothing beats playing it with a ps3 controller because it's just like playing on a console! Let me know if ya need help setting up the touch profiles cause I can send ya the one I made. I've got all of the controls set up just like it's a ps3 first person shooter!

I think the former Apps like ROM Gripper (or was it ROM Grabber?) have gone away due to copyright and legal reasons. You can search for Emulator ROMs pretty easily though, I found one with one search.

You can use a wiimote with most emulators using the wiimote app. I'm not sure how far they've come with the wiimote app though because I haven't used it for games in awhile. I have a windshield mount for my phone in my car so it's basically my car stereo, and I actually prefer using the wiimote as a remote because it's a lot easier to use when your driving. Other than that though I just use my dualshock 3 as my controller for my games because it works great most games and emulators.

Does it have to be an 'official' PS3 controller or any ps3-compatible controller works?

From what I've read it has to be a sixaxis or a dualshock 3 but I'm not 100% sure. I've never tried anything other than my dualshock 3 so I don't know if an aftermarket one will work or not. I hit up craigslist and found an official one for pretty cheap.

You need to get the app called Sixaxis Controller by Dancing Pixel Studios on the Market first. Then you have to follow their instructions to pair the controller to the touchpad. It's pretty easy and you only have to do it once, but you need the Sixaxis Pairing Tool for your pc. Plug the controller into your pc with it's usb cable and then run the pairing tool on your pc. On your Touchpad the Sixaxis Controller app will show you the Bluetooth address of your Touchpad at the bottom. Enter that address into the pairing tool on your pc so the controller knows what bluetooth address to pair with. Then hit start in the Sixaxis Controller app and it will connect to your ps3 controller and the light on the controller should change to number 1. From then on anytime you want to connect it to your Touchpad press the ps button on your controller then just open Sixaxis and hit start and it'll connect. If you want to use it with your ps3 again you just need to plug it in with the usb cable to the ps3 and it will re-sync to it. Hope this helps

You have to make sure you're connected to wifi whenever you start the game. If you are and it still does that I'd say remove the downloaded data then reinstall it and see if it works

Is Wii Remote Compatibility currently?

I've done some research, and I realize you are not able to connect a SGS2 with a Wii remote. The posts I've seen are old, so I was wondering if there is any roms out there that do work. Thanks
From what I understand it has to do with SAMSUNG's bluetooth hardware that is incompatible. But PS3 controllers do work. There's an app called sixaxis that connects with the PS3 controller.

Do you need to connect PS3 remote with a cable to extract drivers??? My phone or tab can't find it via bluetooth
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
There's a windows app that will set the bluetooth address to what the phone app is looking for. You need to hook the controller up to the computer to manually set the address and then it will connect via bluetooth to the phone.
Also when you go to use it on the PS3 again. Either have the original address written down or connect the controller to the PS3 using the usb cable to reset it back to the PS3 address.

Try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ccpcreations.android.WiiUseAndroid it works on my GNex and it also won't discover the Wii remote using the regular Bluetooth method.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
So then how do you discover the wiitomes?
...
Press the red button that is in where the battery goes...
Or pressing 1+2
Both work or may not work in different cases. Try both ways.
EDIT: Oh btw, depending on which ROM (If you got a stock based ROM like SHO or Unnamed it will not work)
MIUI for example will work.
I saw this and was just curious as to why you would want to do this?
To play gameboy, nes, n64 games.

When I was asking how to discover Wiimotes, I was referring to this post. Haha i know pressing 1 and 2 sync the wiimote
If you have ps3 controller at your disposal, I would recommend it over Wiimote. It's so much better when it comes to gaming experience

Wiimote won't work due to Samsung's proprietary Bluetooth stack. A rom based on asop will normally work fine though (like miui) because it uses Google's stack. You can't swap them on the stock rom due to its tight integration though.
