[Q] Should i get an sgs2 or wait? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my htc desire got stolen and therefore i need a new phone.Basically my eyes went immediately on an sgs2. Should i buy a galaxy s 2 now or wait for an sgs3?Sgs2 is a beast with its screen ,soc etc.Thx, every opinion will help!!

Why wait? If and when the SG3 comes out, you can then keep waiting for the SG4. If you like the phone buy it and don't wait.

If you keep waiting, you will never be able to buy anything...
I agree with Lennyz1988's suggestion, you should buy S2 now instead of waiting for S3.

go for it , you have made the right choice.

agreed with above
there is tons of things u can do with sgs2 and its just one update from beating nexus that came out few months ago

HTC Sensation to Galaxy SII - Need input

Hey guys,
Well I am now on my 3rd HTC Sensation with yet another manufacture defect. I went back into the T-Mobile store this morning to see what my options are. The lady at the store is extremely friendly and is going out of her way to help me out even though I'm passed the 30 day purchase date.
She told me she is willing to swap my HTC Sensation with a brand new one on the spot (for the 4th time) - OR - if I pay the $20 difference she will allow me to get a new Galaxy SII instead.
I love the current feel of the Sensation but I'm getting quite sick of the random design flaws this device seems to have such as allowing a ton of dust under the screen and power button issues.
The design of the GSII feels solid but I'm nervous about how much bigger the phone is than the Sensation.
I know I will get some biased answers posting in this forum but I'm mainly looking for those who have switched from the Sensation to the GSII. Please fill me in with your thoughts.
Thanks!
Do eet... Its the best Android device I've had yet... and I've had a lot.

The galaxy s2 is my first android device so I don't have much to compare to. But anyway, the phone is great and I don't thing you will have any reasons to regret it,
Well after doing more research and getting sick of HTC's crap I ended up taking the plunge. Haven't even opened the box yet. I'll spend the afternoon doing research on this site until I finally get to play with it after work.
First priority is to get it rooted and get CM7 installed.

Should I get the Note now or wait?

Hey Guys! I'm currently using an iPhone 4 and I am eligible for an upgrade with AT&T immediately. I am basically dead-set on getting the Samsung Note. It looks amazing and I'm a big fan of the huge screen (ex dell streak user!).
My question is: should I go ahead and do the upgrade now or wait for the price to drop? If I were to upgrade now it would cost me ~$300 not including taxes, etc. That price seems high to me. I know it's a great phone and everything but the prices are bound to drop, just like every other great phone before the note.
Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!
You could try to get it for $150 through Best Buy by following the trick in that other thread.
Specifically, follow this link:
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/deals/linkshare-savings.jsp?partner=LinkShare&siteId=dZCX6Je2w8Q-sBG3oO9zQ5oOdYyuLQ44IA
Then select "New to ATT", add the note to your cart, add any plan and data plan, then go to check out. A $150 discount should be shown in the cart. Print out the cart, then go to Best Buy and say you would rather buy the phone in store and bring your business to them, and have them try to price match. It's worth a shot, though it may not work.

I will tell you my story. 4 months ago I had an upgrade available and bought the GS2. Loved the phone but my wife's phone died so I returned it and got her an iPhone. At the time I was thinking I would just buy the S2 cheaper in 4 months. Fast forward, the S2 is half the price yet I am going to spend more to get the note.
Moral of the story, get what you want now because something better will be out later.
Exactly get your device and enjoy it now. There will always be something new around the corner in android land.
I agree, get what you want now. If you wait till the price drops then another phone will be announced that you will end up wanting. Especially since MWC is happening this week.

I couldn't agree more, get what you want now. In my opinion this is the best phone I've ever owned.
If you're not signing on as a new customer...or not adding a line to an account...it's better to wait for the Note to drop further in price. Amazon currently sells it for $250 for all customers....which is still a rip-off considering there's no ICS yet for Note.
But I can understand if you currently only have 1 phone that is 'hanging by a thread'...then might as will make the purchase now.

I loved my Samsung Captivate, but the Note is my new love affair.
Whirling around fine on stock right now, but keeping my eyes on the dev threads.
Seeing all of these posts today around HTC and the new One X coming to AT&T had me bumming a little with the mad specs, but then I remembered I have a 5.3 inch HD screen.

After two replacements I'm getting a HTC DINC2!!!!!!!!

So I was on the phone with vzw representative 3 - way actually with my mom. Basically she got into how she's out of work for being hurt and stuff and couldn't afford to buy the back and battery for the DINC2 so I'd have to get ANOTHER DX2, BUTthe guy felt sympathetic and is sending me a DINC2 with the extended battery and back FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nices guy EVER! I was SO happy. He felt bad because I had so many bad experiences with Motorola phones and he Too loves HTC like myself and was trying to push it on to my mom to buy it before he decided to give it to me free. He was going threw unemployment so he was like "I understand completely" lol I am just happy I'm leaving this crappy piece of ****! My phone was loving ICS on it tho Until it died yday </3 Well so long DX2 forums and Hello DINC2 forums!!!!
Congratulations on your new HTC!

Grace and peace my dude.
I'm on my third DX2. I tried to get an HTC device instead last time but the rep refused and said they cannot/will not ever do that for anyone and than asked me if I wanted him to lose his job. I told him I did not care what happened to him after I hung up the phone and that he was over-exaggerating the situation.
Congrats on the new phone. I wish I could leave this device behind!
Grads on your new phone man, enjoy it! I was happy with my original incredible and wish I did not end up going back to a Moto phone. Sense is getting bloated but stock still blows away Motoblur. Have fun with the new device and when it's time to buy a new phone don't forget all the crap you went through with Moto. Stick it to the jerks and don't buy another Moto phone!

[Q] Is it still worth-it?

I'm thinking of getting this phone this weekend, but as I observe there and there, some of you are leaving and planning to sell their S3's and thinking of getting a new device. Do you think the support(from xda and/or samsung) will last for the next 2 years, as I want to use this phone in a long-term. Do you think it's still worth-it to buy this phone at this time?
BTW, I'm planning to get the I9300.
(forgive me if I'm in the wrong section)
I'm happy with it and I definitely think there will be developers working on it for a while. The SGS still has new roms coming out and that phone is older than my momma
I think my s3 is awesome bro, its up to you but it doesnt matter when you buy a phone there will be always something bigger and better around the corner! In the s3 you have big spec and it will last you a while plus there is always New Roms, kernels, mods and themes on XDA to keep you busy. Good luck on your choice bro.

The support should last for atleast 2 years.. this is quadcore baby!

i think it's worth it i was hesitating for quite some time before i bought it, but i don't regret it, i would buy it again moreover, i think it has potencial to last for at least 2 years thanks to the hardware, so even if samsung stops pushing new updates, i'm sure there will always be somebody, who'll make new android versions ready for s3
Totally worth it
SGS3 is totally worth it, unless you'd like a bigger unit, in which case I respectfully suggest you to consider the Note 2.

Howdy from the not so new guy

I have went without a phone in favor of the Note 8 and 10.1 tablets the last year but came back home.
Owned Note and Note 2 and I can say this 3 is damn near perfect. A birthday gift from the wife.
Was gonna get the 4 but there is not enough there to warrant the extra cash for me anyway.
If not mentioned before , get the app My stylus Beta. Trust me, you will fall more in love with this phone than ever . It is that good an app.
Anyway, good to be back and I will see you peoples around.
Oh, and if you have any questions I will do my best to help no matter what. I have screwed with phones since my Hero rooting days.
