Flashed to stock, installed go launcher, now I'm stuck at Att logo on boot - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just as titled. From pi crust to stock using motor helper. I noticed it did not delete all my apps. I installed go launcher. It failed so I tried again. It said successful but I pressed home and was sent to a black screen :-( should I factory reset? Anything I can do in adb shell? I'm using my backup phone for now and I'm open to suggestions.

Flash a fruitcake or any other rom.... make sure to wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition & dalvik cache in CWM before flashing. Also make sure your using ROM Racers latest CWM version. If you have a micro SD card, you can put your flashing .zips on there to flash.

Its no longer rooted or unlocked.. going to pudding route. Pre-rooted and has unlock script. Im going to stick to the stock rom though.
Just hoping maybe there was a script I could have ran to remove the go launcher. I don't understand why its not asking me which launcher to use.

Wow same problem. Took the SD card out and the phone will boot but I get errors about go launcher and I can't go home. Somehow I got the browser to open so I'm trying to download and install a launcher.
I was able to uninstall go launcher and now the phone is working... hmmm I thought a 1.5 MB sbf flash deleted everything!

[Q] Stuck on Lock Screen

I am sorry if this was answered before, but I have tried to search and couldnt find anything..
I have a Samsung Vibrant, of course, and had flashed Trigger 3.2. It was working great until applications started to fail such as the web browser. The applications will start but never actually run. So I tried to restore my nandroid backup, but after doing that, everytime I try to reboot my phone it stays stuck on the lock screen with "Searching" on the top right corner. Im assuming it is searching for the network, but it wont let me unlock the phone. I flashed Trigger again and it worked fine. I try restoring and Im stuck again. I also tried to factory reset and it still does the same thing.
has anyone else encountered this and know how to fix it?
Just odin back to stock with dl mode

Factory reset from Recovery and re-flash Trigger again this time wiping cache, dalvik and fixing permissions after the flash. Now when restoring make sure to check APPS ONLY.

This is all correct. It is likely when restoring you are restoring old system data
thanks for the help! If I did this, would I still be able to flash back to stock or will I have to use Odin for that?

You have to remember when you Nandroid it doesnt flash the kernel back so you either need a flashable rom that has a stock kernel or odin back.
the above is correct make sure you do that!

[Q] help installing simply honey 3.9.1

Could someone please help me with a little more details on installing simply honey? i would try it again myself but i just fixed my phone from the phone ! computer sign and id rather not again. im stock 2.1 enclair now. my biggest problem is odin. which boxes do i check (reset time, reboot, partition) and where should i put tar file (phone or pda) and lastly it says to use pit 512 file. where is this? Thanks in advance!!

you could go the way i went (which i thought was easier, might be abit longer but not much) or the odin way
the way i did it:
flash simply honey 3.3 though recovery like normal, wipe data/fact reset, wipe cache http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ITORJOGK
reboot when its done
then flash which ever 3.9.1 package you want through the CWM app (if its there, cant remember) or rom manager, dont think it matter about doing the light first now cos they're all full roms (they weren't when i first did it)
when it reboots wait 15 min then reboot again then you're good to go
odin (not 100% sure though):
flash the GB bootloaders http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990 (READ THAT CAREFULLY)
then get the odin_heim file whatever its called from SH thread, open the .zip and extract the .tar and that goes in PDA in odin, the .pit file i think is the one you would use to odin to stock
have fact reset ticked and reboot, dont know about re-partition, some people said it completely wiped their internal SD so back up what you dont want to lose then click start and let it go through (if you get the voice saying not enough space or something when its rebooting pull battery, go to recovery and disable voodoo then reboot)
then flash whichever package you want through recovery then reboot
let it sit for 15 min then reboot again
i think thats it
if you go the way i went and flash the bootloaders anyway first or after to get rid of the rainbow and to be able to see recovery for the future, its up to you
thanks! im going to try this as soon as i get off work.
i was on stock rooted with clockwork recovery. grabbed the 3.3 simply honey link, renamed it update.zip and put it at the root of the internal sd. did a factory wipe, cleared cach, and davik cache. and then installed and it put me in a boot loop. im using odin to get back to stock, any ideas?

didnt need to rename it anything, thats a full rom, cant flash 2.3.4 over froyo without the GB bootloaders but can flash 2.3.3 so thats why you have to do that 1st
did you wipe dalvik after or before ??
i wiped it after the 1st time i did it and because its in advanced menu in recovery it wouldnt go back to the normal page of recovery to reboot and that put me in a bootloop
when you're rooted again after stock......
-put 3.3 and the 3.9.1 package you want on sd and leave them named as they are
-go to recovery, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache
-flash 3.3
-reboot
-flash 3.9.1 in rom manager (it'll factory reset again even if you dont have that ticked, could tick wipe dalvik and cach aswell while you're there)
-when it reboots leave for 15 min then reboot again
thats the exact way i did it i think and works fine for me
Thanks soooo much it finally worked! I feel bad asking another question but I can't seem to find the answer. I installed the GB bootloaders and have the full version of the simply honey loaded now but everytime I get a call I have to reboot after or I wont be able to receive calls. Thanks again!

I just found a post by you in the simply honey thread that answered my question. So I reflash and wipe. Do I flash all the way back to 2.1 or just reflash the full version of simply honey and wipe all data?

You may want to consider trying some of the more tried-and-tested 2.2 and 2.2.1 ROMs until you have more experience with modding in general. When you start messing with bootloaders, it doesn't take much screwing up to permanently and irrevocably (apart from a JTAG) brick your phone.

uuuuuuuuggg!!! I've posted dozens of replies with explanations of how to do this! lol
sorry for all my noob questions and not being able to find post that have already been made about this. however, its working perfect now and i appreciate everyone's help!

bricked, again

I just did the biggest F-Up of my flashing life. While following QBKing77's Rooting & CWM with unlocked, at approx 3:50, during the flashing of the root SYSTEM.img file, rather than that file, I used the wrong file to flash used an IMG file that was meant for cwm, which is a completely different task.
So now I am trying to get into fast boot and try to do it with correct SYSTEM.IMG, then to find out I never got it downloaded, the link was deadand now I can not find where to DL it from. I must've not been paying attention and got ahead of myself.
Anyone know where I can a mirror of the file found here. Its the first link in the root section labelled "moto-fastboot flashable /system image".
Am I screwed? Does anybody have a copy of that system.img file laying around. I can not find any mirrors. That is the only way I can see this getting fixed bc I can still go into fastboot mode.
ckeck this ????

Thank shabbypenguin for those
If you can get into rsd mode and connected/recognized in rsd lite you should be able to flash one of those sbf files and return to stock.
I read the instructions carefully! It said to put the oven on 350 degrees for 10mins but for some out of this world reason I put it on broil and let it cook for 20mins :/

LOL no kidding Custodian. I did get a laugh out of that.
Thanks CubanLuke & ShabbyPenguin. I did use RSDLite to flash the current sbf you directed me to, I can boot into the phone again. Thanks again.
Now as to how to proceed, I will have to unlock the bootloader again, np, but when I run into that very step where I broiled it, the rooting via speedboot.... would it be okay to root using AIO instead because I can not find the SYSTEM.IMG needed to follow along w/ the video using this method.
Can I just root a different method, then proceed on with CWM recovery, then flash rom from the video?

Thanks KTT. Okay, I'm back on track now. I am unlocked again, rooted as well. but I am not sure about 2 things. This will be my very first android rom flash and just coming from a big whoopsies, I just want to be sure.....
1) Format system: in cwm recovery, which option is that? I don't see "format system" in the main or advanced menu. Maybe its worded differently?
2) Flash ROM: I can only assume its either "Apply Update from SD" or Update from SD". Not sure which one though.

1) Format system is in the "mount" options. Although it's unneeded to flash a ROM. Personally I just wipe data/factory reset and then wipe cache and have zero issues. Others may tell you different though.
2) "Install .zip from SD Card" then select whichever .zip you're looking to install.

Okay well I am in some trouble again. successfully flashed an alpha cm7.1, but it didn't have market and the one i installed did not work so decided to flash to cm7.2 via CWM. When it booted I didn't really see anything change, later realized that maybe I was suppose to wipe/format in cwm first(idk).
So I decided to flash 198_7, same one that I used to restore back to stock earlier. But I did not get back to stock. The process was 100%, it told me to manually turn on the device, which was in rsd mode. So I unplugged, pulled batt, reboot. The phone now starts up until the pulsing Moto logo then screen goes black, then it loops.
In the process I lost CWM & unlocked. So trying to flash a ROM via cwm is no longer an option. Any thoughts?

Flashing the 198_7 sbf unroots and relocks, so you're back to square one.

Reboot into stock recovery, when you get the recovery logo thing push both volume up and volume down at the same time to get the recovery options. Then do a factory reset and it should boot for you. After that, root and unlock again. And you didn't have the Market because you forgot to install Gapps...

The reason cm7 didn't have the market is that you needed to flash gapps. Try doing a hard reset. http://www.hard-reset.com/motorola-photon-4g-hard-reset.html That should do it.

i had the same problem i think and was going thru boot loops but some one told me to start into recovery when you try you get that ? android screen from there hold down volume up and down at same time then wipe phone booted up fine after that.
It worked like a charm. Thanks. I'm still very new to android and hate to admit it but will be running into problems like these again. The best way to minimize it for me is, not only follow certain directions correctly to get out of these binds, but to understand them.
- So theres an image of the stock ROM stashed away on the phone regardless? And it can be accessed only via the stock recovery? Because after I succeeded in flashing cm7.1, I did a factory reset once from settings>privacy and that restored me to a fresh CM7.1. The factory reset from settings>privacy and in CWM is the same, but both different from the factory reset via STOCK RECOVERY?
- Also what would be the correct method to go from one custom ROM to another? Would it be this? :
(in CWM)
- Format system
- Wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache/dalvik
- Reboot recovery
- Flash ROM
Or can I just jump to install from zip ?
- Also regarding SD Storage (internal), only holds storage files? So on any fresh ROM there shouldn't be anything in that partition relating to that new ROM yet right? So I can delete things without worry?
You should not have to reboot into recovery, once your wipes are complete, normally you can just flash your ROM of choice in the same recovery session.
Before I flashed anything I would make a backup with CWM so you don't have to keep rooting and unlocking. You can just restore your backup.

After flashing 198 7 sbf, all u need to do is flash derpunlock not go through oem unlocking, then reflash recovery.
Simple generic process for going between roms (assuming already unlocked + cwm recovery flashed; process may be different for some roms, always make sure to read directions, but this is the general concept)
1. Download rom (and gapps if necessary) and put on your sdcard
2. Boot into recovery and make a nandroid backup
3. You made a nandroid backup right?
4. Secure your nandroid backup (move it to your pc or something).
5. You know where your nandroid backup is right?
6. Wipe data/factory reset.
7. Install zip from sd (flash), choose the rom.
8. Reboot system.
At this point your rom should be all set. If for some reason you don't like it, simply boot into recovery and restore your nandroid backup. You can even make nandroid backups of various roms if you want to swap between them for whatever reason.

HELP! Galaxy NOTE SGH-i717 locking up after Tmobil setup

Hello,
HELP Please!!!
I just unlocked, rooted with cwm and SAUROM, added modem t989 with cwm.
With CWM install, I saved all data and then erased all data before installing Saurom. After installation of Saurom, I restored the data, then I added the modem.
sim card installed, reboot. Phone turns on, but not apps open and phone keeps looking, nothing works.
What should I do now?
Thanks,
I would try to flash again. Wipe everything first in cwm. And dont restore ur apps, redownload them from the play store. If u still have probs flash back to stock wit Odin. Theres threads in the dev section on this.

No need to go back to stock
Do this:

clear data, d cache, and cache
Flash Rom
Reboot
Clear d cache, cache
Flash modem
Make sure its the correct modem

Ok, Reflashed the rom using ICS. It works, but the phone is not reading the sim card and there is no network.
How do I fix this?

[Q] flashing ram, can't get past samsung boot screen

Hey All,
I had been having troubles with 4.0.3 multi-dpi, so I thought I'd flash Saurom. I flashed this, but upon reboot, I got stuck at the samsung screen. It never went past there, just sat there forever. So, I went back into cwm (holding down vol up/vol down/power), and wiped everything again, and tried to flash saurom again, but same thing happened.
I then tried to flash back to 4.0.3 multi-dpi, with same results. I can get into CWM just fine, but it seems any rom I flash hangs at the samsung boot screen.
Does anyone have any ideas? Right now I'm completely down :/
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Sebastian
Hi sounds like a bad kernel flash.i would go into cwm, do the usually wipes, go to mounts and storage. Format data. Format system. Format cache only. Pull battery. Install any of the odin install Roms through download mode, That should fix your problem. Then you can start over and flash whatever Rom you want

You should restore the latest good backup you created before you flashed whatever is giving you problems.

A backup restore should do the trick.

Worse comes to worse you can flash stock Odin. If you one clicked for ICS, remember to flash bootloader first

From my gathering, Saurom & ICS 4.0.3 DPI are incompatible. Meaning you can't flash one on top of the other without doing a full wipe data/factory reset. Having said that, I think the best move then would be to flash back to stock via ODIN, install cwm, redownload whatever ROM to your ex sd card, mount system & data then re-flash.

I "believe" all you need to flash through Odin is the GB bootloader, then you can flash GB roms, the ICS bootloader is what causes the hang up with ROM incompatibilities

Be sure the ROM has the radio load and remember a Nandroid does not flash the radio load. That has to be done manually.

I'm not very familiar with Saurom but from what I've read I think that's correct. ICS needs a clean slate to operate from is all I was saying.
