Making app & what do you want? - GT540 Optimus Themes and Apps

EDIT: IF YOU WANT TO HELP ME LEARN, EMAIL ME AT [email protected]
I am currently learning how too make Android apps.
I want too make a good app for everyone.
What do you want? Keep it simple - I'm still learning!
P.S How do you send raw commands in an app? Like asking for root etc.
Sent from my GT540 using Tapatalk

Maybe an app that informs if a new ROM is available like ROM manager but for gt540.. I don't know anything about apps developing so sorry if it's too hard
Sent from my GT540

if your realy intrested let me know and ill be happy to provide any help need to get you started, but creating an app will require lots of work. ive been doing it for 6 months and still fight to get my head round some of the consepts.
i have 2 differet scripts for sending raw terminal command, one as root, and one that works as a string.
also for nitifying someone for a rom update should be very easy, my app does it when it is launched. we should be able to make it into a background service somehow.
feel free to e-mail me at

That actually sounds easy. Set up an xml page on a remote server, and have the app parse it. I would have to manually edit it though.

Off topic:
What are all the differences between member, senior member, and recognised developer?
Sent from my GT540 using Tapatalk

I think it changes according to the amount of posts. To be recognized developer, you must send a request and then the committee will decide.

Ah, thanks.
Is the recognised developer just roms, or apps etc? I may have it in the near future!

u can just past the xml inside of a text box.

A useful app would be to be able to take hand written notes on a android tablet. There is NoteTakerHD on the iPad but nothing as great on android
Good luck man

My problem at this stage is, all the threads say to use photo shop. Well I can't afford those prices. And I refuse to use pirated software! So to the question. Is Gimp compatible or is there something else available that some of you prefer? I wanna know can I get the same results with Gimp or another product?
Thanks for your time.

Genie widget.

Good day EVO enthusiasts, I'm posting in hopes that someone may have a solution to our problem. The genie widget doesn't work on the EVO. Anyone know why and is there a fix I should know about. Genie is my favorite news supplier. Can't function without it. Searched everywhere, can't find a suitable substitute. Feel free to point me in the right direction if you guys know of fix or a decent substitute. Thanks

I can't deal without it either bro. Pulse isn't enough. I tried installing genie today but it won't work. I need it!!! Not having it makes me like this evo 3d far less than my evo.
Man. I have 2 that will install. A transparent and smoke... I'll post them later tonight

I take no credit for this, but it works well----unzip it and you'll find the apk in there someplace. It works well on my 3vo
forgot to mention, this is the transparent one

Sms app idea

Wouldnt it be great if there was a sms ringtone app that is dynamic! Like when you get a new sms it says "you have a New message" and if you dont read it and gets another one it says "you got two New messages"!!
What do you think?
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
Why don't you enable driving mode from settings menu? it will say who calls you, tell you about messages, and a lot more.

first of all, it's easier for you to use market enabler to unlock restricted content. thus, you can download anything from the play store.
but here, I did that for you, fresk apk.

Thank you indeed. I believe we need to be rooted for Market Enabler to work properly?
Secondly, how can we get the fresh apk of an app from the market like you did? It will be helpful.
BTW thanks again.

You are very obnoxious with your post. Search engines are there for a reason and should be used instead of making a thread for someone to do his dirty work!
No offence to OP.

For some reason I understand his situation. even thou if he searched before, it's pretty complicated. Is he rooted? Is he able to use the apk downloader for chrome?
For some reason, there are some causes why someone invented the forum. At last this thread will be shown on the search engine for future reference.
So why wasting your time posting if you can help?
Keep the thread clean. No offense to anyone.

Beginner

I have recently discovered that I would love to start developing Android apps as a hobby and I have completed this set of lessons - http://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/creating-project.html - successfully but now I want to learn more.
If anybody has any "making of" videos/series of people developing apps (in Eclipse) then please can you link it here.
Thank you.
AW: Beginner
Did you already go through all this tutorials http://developer.android.com/training/index.html?
wow cool. Didnt know that they offer such Lessons. Just always get redirected to the API. Did someone really made all the Trainings before creating Apps? I dont think so but its a very good starting point
