General = other stuff (was my second choice)
Development = development stuff mods, roms, hacks etc (hence why i put it here in the end)

Historically all of the previous ROMs were posted in the Development section, so I don't think there's anything wrong with it being here.

any news regarding the battery drain? is it better than .42 firmware or the same? .42 fw is driving me nuts to be honest. -20% battery in 8hours doing nothing with the phone and constant loss of the mobile signal in many areas through the city,i can`t stand it anymore..
could i do a cwm backup on .42,flash the .58 firmware, then restore data and system thru cwm and everything is like before? really not tempted to install and customize everything again..

Is it possible to just flash the baseband from the .58 firmware? I've read a bunch of talk that the baseband could be the big reason for incredible battery drain
Edit: nvm I've got it all worked out I'm on -36 baseband from .58 while staying on .42 build gonna see if battery is any better. Edit 2: Oh that was weird when I flashed just the baseband from .58 it put me on -36 baseband then I did a reboot and now I'm on -58 baseband don't really know what the deal was there ha ha ha.
Sent from my R800a using XDA App

i did the same, flashed .58 firmware, installed doomkernel, then cwm restore data+system, back again on .42 with the updated baseband since yesterday evening,i lost 8% overnight(wifi off, data off,gsm only)which is better than before(-18% overnight) will look into it but i think its better overall,on .42 baseband i got "mobile standby" up to 49% in the battery statistics, now its at 27%..
11 hours on this charge and 60% left..

Yea I'm 17 hrs on this charge and @ 1.4 ghz oc and at 56% I would say its a hell of alot better than it ever was on the .42 baseband. Gonna make a backup and flash the -36 baseband cause I've been reading on arc section that battery life was the best. But who knows only time will tell

Yes, you can flash just the baseband using flashtool. For example, just select the R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Generic_Hong_Kong_Trade ftf firmware in flashtool. Then make sure only 'Exclude System' and 'Exclude kernel' are ticked. Obviously this only works if you're already running a compatible firmware. See settings here:
I've just done this with the -58 baseband, running on MIUI firmware. Going to see what battery life is like with this firmware, if not I'll try to -36 baseband.

Don't think gingerbreak will work, since it didn't work on the Arc..
It will probably just a matter of time till Bin4ry releases a new system.img
Anyway, does the like button in the musicplayer work for you guys? For me it doesn't.. Probably because it uses TrackID
would like to create a germany firmware, could you provide me some guides how you get the fw files and pushed them together to a ftf?

First you'll need someone with a locked bootloader to download the fw for you with SEUS. In the blob_fs folder from SEUS there will be 2 big files. You have to decrypt these files with FlashTool. (Advanced -> Decrypt)
After you've done that you have to bundle the extracted files to a ftf file. (Advanced -> Bundle creation)
If you've done that, you should be able to flash it FlashTool
Ok so I surfed for the benefits of the update, but I'm still wondering if it's worth it to lose my rooted device? Does anyone think the battery life is better, wifi stops quitting like it does with .2 etc?
Thanks for the upload either way, I've it ready to rock. Kinda like Dougle from Father Ted with the big red button. I gotsta hit it real soon
Hmm I'm not touching updates unless gingerbreak works :-\

Why is my device running/booting slowly?
Your first boot will take an unimaginably long time. After that, your device will continue to run slowly until the application cache is built up. Don't worry, the speed will increase as you use the ROM!
The new Android Market doesn't work for me. Can I get the old one?
Yes! Check the attachments on this thread. Download and install "androidmarket.zip."
Why is my battery life bad?
Your battery life is often killed when flashing ROMs in CWM. For the best battery life, you must drain your device’s battery until it turns off. Plug the device into the AC adapter and let it charge till the image says 100% charged. Then turn it on and use the volume buttons to boot into CWM. Click Wipe Battery Stats under the advanced menu. Then you should charge to 100% and install the ROM. Battery life should be comparable to (if not better than) every other ROM.
Reserved for future use!
And away we go.....

Would there be any issue if I were to use CWM recovery to restore my back up that I just made before flashing the ROM?
I havent rooted yet or Id try it. Im just sooo lost. Ive had android for a while but never Motorola. Why is Motorola so different? It just seems so different then flashing on HTC.I havent even rooted yet cuz I thought I read that that root method wouldnt let us flash Roms it was just to be able to basically run rooted apps?

Your phone has a locked bootloader. Things are very similar across all Android phones, but you still need to follow the directions on the install page. SBF's are Motorola-only, that's why you've probably never heard of em.

Epsilon is a deodexed system and this can cause issues while updating.

Hi!
All you need is in the OP. Just remember: Charge 100%. Factory reset + wipe internal memory.
This will erase all your data, so make a backup. :good:

Yeah... 100% battery... I almost bricked it last time.
Hey Pedro,
What is the specific ROM version before updating to this OTA?
Can this be installed with RSD or a specific version is needed for RSD?
And also, did any one install this without doing wipe? Did your data remain undeleted?

Hi!
You need to be in GB 2.3.6 651.167.3370.XT910.Brasil.en.BR
If you're already in ICS all you need is to have a latam device and flash the GB base with the provided script.
You have the RSD lite version to recover if anything goes wrong right? This is an OTA update, can't be flashed with rsd lite, but from motorola default recovery. And you can do that without wipes but I strongly recommend you do wipe data and cache.
Cheers

Much better. I'm waiting more feedback about battery life because it depends of the use we give right? Personally, I think it's much better. I've charged yesterday, used some and still have 60% of charge. It could be 40% in previous version. Test yourself and bring us your impressions.
Regarding the fastboot I've no idea when if or when we'll get it. If motorola put it on internet we can grab it. :d

We don't have an animation add-on to favorites widget, but a reformulated one. It'll probably not work with the older SystemUi without any modification. The best you can do is to update your system.

OK, if we have new thread for this, then:
Here is NBC (Nordic 1247-0875) MT15i
I tried it yesterday but restored JJ's Hybrid back. There's no revolutionary UI speedup as some said. HD recording is a lot choppy too, but better than on .431. Now I use only .587 kernel and baseband with JJ 3.3b with hope that it fixes wifi issues.
I was updated still yesterday through PC Companion without any problems, and links completely working - some people already happily used them. Screenshots from my Neo...
There is something weird with the "global" file.... Uncompressed it's only 239 mb or something like that... the others are like 370mb... Is it normal?

Thanks for sharing but..
What is global? Write CDF at least so people can know which region they download. I would check but have some problems with narod.ru page(even though sometime ago I could download from there)
Which central europe, there are 2 of them.. this one I can download.. will check later..

Thanks for sharing but..
What is global? Write CDF at least so people can know which region they download. I would check but have some problems with narod.ru page(even though sometime ago I could download from there)

(МТ15i_4.1.B.0.587_Global = Generic Nordic) and (МТ15i_4.1.B.0.587_Central_Europe) - These two files are simply called by me on names of links (... they should be designated somehow) if it is interesting to you, download... disassemble on spare parts and look that is necessary... I was updated through PC Companion - so matched at me. Links published for impatient and that to whom all the same what it will have a region of a firmware. In case of desire and ability always it is possible to edit the build.prop under your region of a firmware... at own risk.
What are the changelogs for this updatE?

There is something weird with the "global" file.... Uncompressed it's only 239 mb or something like that... the others are like 370mb... Is it normal?

Here look: simply two screens of these files unpacked 7-Zip... Probably they are brought together from different programs - PC Companion and SEUS, or the zapakovka tool different... somehow so...

Modified .431 + new seventy-seventh radio, phone opens faster, longer battery holds up, something else ... Read the rest on the support site SONY. I'd add - as all good, nothing unusual in the behavior of the phone did not notice ..

I think this is central europe 1. I tried this on my neo and there is no option to turn off diacritics in outgoing sms (something like cost saving).
I don't know the exact differences between CE1 and 2 roms. I am from the Czech republic and I think, I need CE 2 rom (to have cost saving function for example...).

Still no screenshot.
For your xperia p, since you have all these problems i suggest you flash stock rom and you will be fine.
I just found this method for rooting via flashtool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqZ4AnHhzaI . Give it a try if you want.
Are u on ics or jb? Ics u should be fine but jb use doomlord root in xperia p dev forum.
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app

Can't you attach the image, your service won't let see the image to anyone that is not signed in.
If you cannpt attach use service like tinypic.com.
It would be very helpful if you added some information like what is your firmware version and which method you have used.

I thought that the "New" (1+2) is JB ... so that's why i chose "3" = "Old", Bc's ICS is older then JB.
Do you think that re-rooting and chose "1" should fix it?
If i just try'd rooitng the device, Rom was not replaced...what could harm the device?
Thank you!

You should ask the OP of that thread, it is very unclear what is needed to every phone and firmware.
I am quite sure that if you chose the other method that I have used you'd be rooted a long time ago.

1. Maybe it's a problem with the RADIO?
Is there a way to re-install the radio?
2. I wanted to use that method bc's the suggested method was a bit complecated and the other one was very simple.
Thanks!

What radio problem?
The no 3G? try to look in phone settings if network mode is GSM only or both GSM and WCDMA, I don't know where those settings are in ICS.

O.K - i restored the device from the Pc companion and it did resolved the problem !!
I will need some bravery to try doing that again...
If anyone know for sure which number i should pick in the "Bin4ry Root MANY ANDROID" tool - it could be great!
1) "New Standard-Root
2) New Xperia Root (Z, U ... JellyBean)
3) Old.
4) Old-Special
Thank you all for that you gave from you own time helping me out to resolve it.
Thank's very much to Bin4ry who helped me too!
