[WIP] [UNOFFICIAL][ROM] CyanogenMod 9 .35 kernel - Optimus One, P500, V General

This is the development thread of CyanogenMod 9.
Currently there is no ROM available, but I'm working hard to get you one
Please do not ask for ETA's and I will not tolerate posts like "when will be ready 100%, when will be stable and etc". Also, if anyone disrespects the thread, not counting if they are disrespecting devs or normal users, you will be reported! You have been warned.
For questions etc, please go to Discussion-thread...
After spending a lot of time to research and trying to solve things I'm gonna stop working on this for some time untill some more resources are available ...
Special thanks to:
Andy572

Simply Awesome if u do it..all d best to U..Hope u support this like Mik did..

I'z doesing that too! well,to be honest,I'm working on CAF ICS sources right here right now
Your PC specs? I can build ics in 40 mins with 6gb ram and an i7

Specs of the machine I'm currently working on are lower Guess buildingtime is about 90-110 minutes.
It's still busy on the build, had to fix a few things so far.
Will see how far it goes and what more needs to be done. For now it's been going for 60 minutes...

How big are the sources?
cause i'm getting them and i want to know if i can go to sleep till they are down

Andy just said ICS for our phones it's impossible, so don't get your ups high.

No, that's not what Andy said, for now it's impossible to have hardwareacceleration,
CM9 will still run on our phones. It will only support 2D for now.

that's really good news. I think 3d does not matter much for those of us who don't play many games.

great news well its always been great with p500 as we get almost every port and great supoort from dev.
best of luck for project..

Finally part 2 !!

ok folks all im going to say is check out the image attached
and no its not a joke i do actualyl have this running on my streak. stock android 2.2 froyo - using dells eclair kernel source, as you can see its not usable (no wifi/bt/phone etc which we expected). working on gettign at least 3g going now.
great to see evidence this thing is moving if we wait on dell it wont happen for ages
but is 2.2 froyo based on the same kernnell as 2.1?
not really but dells kernel is a mash up or alot of differnet kernels including froyos

its a different kernel. there is 2.1 eclair and the new froyo 2.2. Dell made their own 2.1 Eclair development platform and drivers and some additions to the kernel to support the hardware. Most other company's use the android Eclipse developer platform.
some great enhancements in the 2.2 kernel is the support for the flash-light (the leds on the back, not this not-wanted screen lighters) , a speedboost of nearly 10% in some cases and a new support library for social networking.
some info on new stuff added http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.2-highlights.html
edit: did i allmost forget the flash 10.1 support.
more edit: 2.1 official seems to come out in a few weeks up till december. 2.2 scheduled for februari
yup add a boot time of about 10 seconds too and its is SILLY fast running, smooth as silk
awesome!
Now what can we do to help? also is it just you work on this or others pitching in?
and if you don't mind, can you write up a guide or is it similar to the other devices of how to build AOSP?
I'm trying to learn but dont have much programming and dev background so its like starting from scratch!
http://pdk.android.com/online-pdk/guide/build_system.html
here you go
edit : and here maybe ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781069
Great work. Can't wait until a full release available. All of the efforts are appreciated.
just droped linpack onto this built, scored 34
How about framerate limit removal? I saw a video where removing it would dramatically improve input response time.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
repeating the same message over and over isnt going to help. its NOT a simple thing to sort out framerate and since ive still yet to find any info on how they managed it on the evo (tech info not simple videos) i dont even know where to start

Indeed, there are bigger things to worry about, like all the sensors, drivers, etc. I personally find the framerate quite acceptable at 30fps, only thing it really hurts is benchmarks... is the actual screen designed to refresh at 60Hz anyways? I can run GlxGears at 1000fps, in that regard my computer is uncapped, its obviously impossible for me to view it that way... another mention of this will get someone reported.
You the man dj, I got faith in you homie, you can doit!!!

For anyone who doesn't want to spend 10 minutes searching.
There's a good reason that forcing novice users to search for 10minutes is a good thing and posting direct links isn't
The 2.2 isn't ready for mass consumption yet;
and if a whole load of people install it who don't really know what they're doing, then everyone involved is going to spend less time getting 2.2 working and more time getting those novices streaks back to working order.

If any DEVs are interested in getting more things to work for the Nexus One let me know. The nook community did fix a lot of things from the SDK for their device it's impressive but possible
Working :
3d acceleration (still a few glitches)
Charging led
Data
Flash led
Orientation sensors
SMS (sdk sms application wont show what you type as a message but still send and receive properly)
Trackball notifications
Not working :
Audio
Bluetooth
Calls
Wifi
etc etc etc...

Can now be overclocked
I still made some additions :
Rooted

For those who wants to port the SDK to another device check this post
Awesome! I will try it
OMG thanks man, i was hoping for this!
Do you plan including apps2ext in the future? Can't live without it on gingerbread.
Thanks again!
K so far what seems to not work:
wifi, accelerometer, sound, camera, bluetooth, etc...
when you launch the camera it switches the view in landscape and you can keep using it that way after (menus work better in that view)
3d performance is very bad but what can we expect from such an early port!
Over time i think it will improve to a point it will be worth using everyday!
Good job, i'll try is as soon as i can!
Downloading right now, will report back with whatever I can figure out is working or not
edit: same issues as previously stated. Nothing else found yet :/
I was wondering when someone was going to jump all over this and I'm glad to see it happen.

It is still possible to fix things but not everything there is no source at all its from the SDK -PREVIEW- not even the final one after all !

Is this coming for the Nexus S?

making a perfect CM7 for P500

Dear developers,
please concentrate more on CM7 than on CM9 (or CM10).
We never will get openmax codecs for CM9/CM10 and so these ROMs will always be far from perfect.
Please make a perfect CM7 without (minor) bugs and with a polished GUI.
Cyanogenmod discontinues developing CM9 but keeps CM7 for older devices (like ours). So please do the same especially for the P500 CM7-Version.
regards
The latest build is cm7.2.0. Its a stable build..how much more stable can you get...and never say never about the codecs for cm9

I think you are unaware of the bugs still present in so called 'stable' build, go to Cyanogenmod Issues page and search for P500, you'll find a good long list.

You don't care of minor bugs doesn't mean it's stable.
Stable = No bugs at all. People here should learn this. Even when lupohirp released the very first CM 9 ROMs, people said that they were stable just because they don't use some (even important) features and other things. It's not correct.

absolutely correct!
many people don´t care if there are some gps-wakelocks or if notificationbar icons look grainy or volume in call is too loud after reboot and must be set to max. and min afterwards to get it lower... and so on.. (there are a lot of minor things...).
that´s ok - but that´s not stable!
PS: it´s "easy" to make a somehow running rom - but it´s difficult to make a perfect stable ROM.
And that´s the difference between a ROM from Apple, Microsoft or Google to homebrew ROMs like CM.
CM is for free but for away from "stable" like iOS or Windows Phone.
I recently had a reboot on incoming call on CM7.2, this is the worst BUG I have ever seen. I don't care how super/beautiful/cool/blazing a ROM is if I get reboot on incoming call, even if its 1 in 1000. The problem with us is that we don't have dedicated device maintainer at CM, nobody cares if our device has bugs/issues. At least thats how it appears to be.
That is more likely a very rare occurrence..for as long as I've used cyanogenmod roms. I've never had a reboot on incoming bugs..most reboots happened with themed kitchen work heavily scripted cm7 roms. That or I got a reboot from kernel panics

With that logic not even the stock ROM is stable, there always be bugs even if they are so small, so yeah i think cm7 is daily use stable (been using it since nightly 10 with my kernel).
And iOS isn't perfect, it also crashes and hangs up from time to time, nothing is perfect

I would say there is no real speed improvement, only benchmark-wise. I tried that on my kernel and it did nothing, so I just used back the old toolchain for stability purposes.

Ok but you know, iOS and WP are not free that's why there are people getting payed for making it and cm is made just as a hobby on peoples free time, also I'm guessing but I'll say you didn't even donate to cm team for the software that you are using on your phone.
About the bugs I'm only getting the first one and the solution is to keep gps enabled all the time, that way it only consumes battery only if you use it, and the last "bug" is ridiculous, if you are skilled enough to flash your phone then you can change an icon *sigh*

yes as i said before that i know that CM7 is a free software. i also know that WP and iOS aren´t free, but they are more polished (more stable, cleaner GUI,..).
a free software also could be as stable and polished like iOS and WP - if developers want to do it.
Most android-developers just want to get a software to run on our device - regardless wheather there are some bugs or not.
And they say it´s stable and without bugs far too soon.
And that´s my point. It would be great if someone could build a very clean and very stable version of CM7 (LG released the Gingerbread sourcecode - so there shouldn´t be openmax-problems or something else we suffer on CM9).
And workarounds like:
just don´t turn off GPS or change icon for yourself are exactly that what i mean.
I don´t like to change the icon every time a new update comes out.
I don´t like to have GPS on the whole time. I wanna have it under control when an app can acces my location.
But i think CM7 will always stay like it is - cause most of P500 developers are thinking like you....

Sorry, I have to differ with you on this. Being free doesn't mean that it has to be buggy. Secondly donating them won't make them work harder for a stable P500 ROM.
The problem is that they have put P500 in the list of supported devices but I see no support regarding squashing remaining bugs which is annoying.
Any ways I respect freedom of speech/thought.

[ROM] CM10 PURE AOSP 4.1.2 JB-Final.

Hello People,
This time i bring you a cm10 build from the man it self "Hashcode" for our beloved Nook Tablet.
He is the one who took at his shoulders the Kindle Fire kernel and rom development and skyrocket their sales(Amazon).
I think no more needs to be said about the awesomeness behind this developer but to show our appreciation for finding the time to compile a test release from Nook Tablet Git.
We all expect more to come from this great day forward but nothing is promised and we all need to give our feedback and report issues from this ROM in this thread.
SUPPORT
You get none. Zero. Zip. We obligate ourselves to providing nothing further. You are on your own and will have to help each other via this thread. This is provided “as-is”, and if you don’t like it... there is always stock and CM7.

And as always,
Enjoy your Nook.
Added a flashable package from a new code implemented into rom by Mik_os
This will give you peace of mind in touch controller firmware flashing as it is very user friendly and straight forward.
Just flash this with recovery and you will find a new package in android app drawer that can test and see what firmware version you are at and offer you the opportunity to flash the other. Other can be 2 or Multitouch and depends on what firmware you are at the moment you run the application.
Nice!!!!!
* DISCLAIMER *
To be perfectly clear: This was a flash .zip built straight from the device/kernel sources that the current NT devs have worked very hard on.
I built it as a test case to see if there were compile issues and/or other external problems with the existing builds compared to the Kindle Fire builds which don't show the same issues.
THIS ROM IS NOT NEW. I didn't do anything but sync down the 2 acclaim projects press "go" on the compile.
Only issue I see of now is apps on SD card still disappear when nook reboots. I will report any other issues as I see them.
Thanks for all your hard work devs on the nook. To think I was about to give it up for a nexus 7. No way now I love this thing.

Hey,
loving the development on the Nook!
I have flashed this ROM after full wipes, etc etc..
Everything seems to work..however, a big difference between this ROM and the 12/10 release from the other thread has been lots of choppyness/lag. Sometimes things lag so badly they crash..ie when in Settings. I'm not the most tech-savvy person so forgive me.
ps. it might be just me, but the colors seems sharper/cleaner/nicer!! And despite my comment about lag..when there is no lag, it is very responsive and even faster than 12/10 release..odd
Very nice otherwise
Mike
Downloading , i'll flash this rom
thanks u so much.

This is a development rom in the development section of the forums. It seems to me it would be better for you to return your wife's nook to stock. This rom was posted for testing and bug reporting.

I haven't had any reboots or hangs on my NT 16 GB, but it's only been 12 hours. I'll test it over the weekend more to see if I can make the permanent jump from CM7.

No. I put it on my mother's 16GB Nook Tablet and it's miles better than CM7 was. Not perfect but no serious flaws.
Has anyone experienced download problems that cause lag that doesnt allow you to reboot or poweroff or do anything?

I have rooted every device I own. I also have a Nexus 7 and a Nook Tablet. In somewhat of defense of the guy earlier working 10 hours, wife and 4 kids sometimes it is easier to ask rather than "just flash it". I want to use my Nook so my kids ages 2 and 4 can watch Netflix on long car trips. The Nook is much more of a tank than the Nexus 7 and would bee much less bummed if the Nook gets broken over my Nexus.
I'm not saying my time it's any more important than yours. And it doesn't take any more effort to answer a simple question than it does to tell someone Rio flash back to stock.
I would like to know if Netflix works on this build? If so I will flash it ASAP. If not I will not get my Nook out of my nightstand and will keep checking back once and a while.
Thanks.

[DEV ONLY][CM] Team Neutron CM10 L7II

Hello this thread is intended for development purpouses only. Do not post thank you posts, request posts or anything not related to the main purpose. You have a thanks button if you are thankful.
Well warching at what lg did with kitkat using bad jb blobs for gpu that resulted in abnormal cpu usage for rendering and in slowness and glitchness I decided to set up Team Neutron. This team will build a working cm10 that is smooth which is possible.
Well now anyone with abilities can join after i talk to them. Not here on topic but after they pm me.
Atm i would want to know if the following people will join me withoit egos secrets or drama. I will split iobs and watch over the project. I will work on it myself.

Please confirm or infirm my invitation. This could be my last project for this device since it has almost no support. It will be a good one though.

This is certainly good
But for the models 715 to gather a working network will be problematic, СM10 not support two SIM cards
That is right but we are never going to get a stable cm11 because of the gpu. We can make 1 sim work i think
Sent from my LG-P710 using XDA Free mobile app
Edit: @weritos
The best we can get is a JB based rom like CM10.2 at most. After we get the single sim working we can patch somehow for the P715 to use one sim (some ramdisk tweaking).
What I am thinking off:
let's pull the blobs only from our phone. See if we can get it running. We analyze the log and see what are we missing then add them 1 by 1 (this will give us maximum stability that can be attained).
let's remake that device tree with only the 100% necessary things and we can always add up on top of that. Let's not take TeamHackLG base. Of course we will use the 7x27a settings (SoC's are almost the same). Well, the best thing is to make some display things for our own 8225 socket. It will take a while but all we need is in our kernel. We can focus on this later to improve the stability even more.
Well. Our first goal is to make it boot using ONLY the blobs from our device + the GPU drivers I managed to obtain (they are optimized for JB). After we get that working we should worry about other things. Kernel should be modified just to boot (in the first stage). After we get a fully working device (RIL, WIFI etc) we can work on a better kernel, optimization, overclock, deep-sleep and everything we want. I also watched in the LG Ramdisk (from stock). It's a bunch of garbage half of it could be deleted. Well I am pulling the blobs tonight, download cm10.2 source and let's get to work my friend. Imo we should focuse on the boot first. Ofc if you have any opinion I am always to open it and if your idea turns to be a better one (since none is perfect) we will go for that.
EDIT2: There is a fetch error in cm10.2 let's try with branch jellybean.

That's a great idea, but first you should try CM10, 10.2 will be very slow on this device, since it is using hardware much more, and it is slower compared to CM10. But that's just my opinion.
True. @shiftyHungary: well after researching it seems cm10.2 is more optimized and from what I am seeing the most stable version of cm for 7x27 is cm10.2 we should work with that imo. There is a sync error because there was some fights over some source. will be fixed easy by replacing in repo with the path that it's used for cm11 or jsut delete that repo. Don't know which one yet. Researching.

Okay, you know that better than me, I just shared my experience with my previous devices. Pm me if any help needed.
Well yeah. I really want CM also. I made my own version of CM11 it's smoother than the one we have but still mile away from what it should be even with hard-core optimization because CPU is too high because of the CPU. @weritos ->much respect to this guy, though I disliked some of the things were handled, I give props to him and I am thinking it's a good opportunity to work together and share idea with him (none has nothing to lose). Yeah cm11 will not be our deal and all the graphic glitches in games and stuff it's not because weritos CM11 it's because of LG being LG... With Cm 10.2 we have a way better chance (this came to my mind when actually trying to fix AOKP Ril problem which was based on CM10). I could feel the full powa!!!. Cm copiled GOOD from source will be butter (not in games and stuff ofc it's and Adreno 203 after all) smooth at least in UI and current day-by-day operations.
CM10.2 from the source code
christi9503, As soon as I pass all my exams
I redid the device tree under CM10.2, alter and drop provider (use LG)
But I tell immediately there will be problems with WiFi, Network
Well we can solve problems if we work rogether mosr likely. Best of luck with your exams. I am finishing blobs tonight and i made like half of the device tree. Tonight or tomorrow i will look in the ramdisk and will delete all that is useless
Sent from my LG-P710 using XDA Free mobile app
Well @weritos. Blobs are done (didn't pull the GPU ones since I will be using the ones I have found). Device tree is not fully done but it will be. I am building right now the first build. Using display CAF so it will take a while to get caf to work.
Edit: I will learn to use github and push repos there. Easier to work.
Cristi,
For now, use stock Kitkat kernel sources (just compile them using GCC 4.6 and you're good to go)
Because, once we modified stock kernel for certain things to work, like Wi-Fi, I can duplicate those and merge with my own customized kernel.
I'll work my ass off at my own kernel tonight, since I discovered certain problems.
Anyway, CM10.2 is a way better choice than CM11.
If Google didn't change whole lot of things in Kitkat, things would never have got that messy as it is now.

Looking at the actual ramdisk kernel doesn't need modification for wi-fi to work. Same for RIL. Seeing as how it is handled we might be missing some bins or libs it'll be hard but it's possible to get ril with only our device files. This company called LG is just ****ing with us. Working on ramdisk for over 1 hours. There are A **** LOAD of duplicated files, obsoled, not used files. Working on it.

The mess they made. They just dirty patched mostly anything. My last LG device for sure.
Sometimes I am really thinking what big companies think. Another update. Sometime there is echo on what you are talking and stuff (like you hear your voice if you talk in the mic). It is because LG doubled some uevents or even tripled them. So they get inited like 3 times. This might solve the mic problem forever also.

We will work that out my friend. Better if it takes 1 week or so to fix just 1 problem than making a messy fix and having instability and stuff. Quality over quantity. In the end that is the best combo.
Amyway, how everything is moving?
Wi-fi isn't a big deal breaker. We'll fix it, as well as RIL.
And we should avoid using modules.
