Use your Lumia 800 as an External HDD / Stick it to the Zune - Nokia Lumia 800

When you attach your beautifull Lumia 800 to your pc it will be detected by zune and only accesible by zune.
Now Here a small reghack to make it accesible through "computer" so you can just copy paste anything!
Press Win+R to display the run dialog box, type regedit.exe, and then click ok.
On Vista and Windows 7, you may receive a UAC prompt -- click yes to proceed.
When the registry editor opens, drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB
Press Control+F to display the registry search dialog
In Find What, type zunedriver -- uncheck data box to make searching faster, then click Find Next

You can edit the registry key back to its original value to UNDO this..
One final note! when copying music to your device using this method all songs will have an unknown album and artist, it will just use the fil names and this makes identifying tracks alot harder! you ahve been warned!
Ofcourse THANK me if this helps in any way!

Seems to work fine, any idea why it shows up twice though?

Sorry I have no idea either...

Nice ! Gonna try it tonight
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

You can use Windows Phone Device Manager to see your folders..

Well today I've tried on Vista.
I found the Zunedriver registry key, I got to the DeviceParameters one level higher.
ShowInShell changed to 1
PortableDeviceNameSpaceExcludeFromShell changed to 0
EnableLegacySupport to 1
Rebooted just to be sure, connected phone. Zune autolaunch happened. Opened Computer window in explorer browser... nothing. just my regular disks.
Troubleshooting?

You confirm you CANT use this method, I need someone to confirm they CAN

Read it again, he's confirming it works on Vista

well, if that picky... the method described in this thread doesn't work on vista, but with help of the application of another developer here, it can be made working in an equal way. maybe even the reg values in the first post are identical to the reg values the small application does. but, i have not verified this as it is working now. by the way you see only audio, video, etc folders.

Ok
I see in Computer> 2 devices called nokia lumia..
In one of them there is a disk.
And on the disk you can see 5 folders..
albums, artists, music, pictures and playlists
So it might indeed do the same.

i think both methods have equal results. drawback i fin is that you'd need to change reg settings on each and every computer you connect to. that makes it difficult to function as usb drive on office computers without zune and without reg access. also you can do nothing with obscure files from the phone, because it doesn't see the phone-unknown filetypes

I dont have a Lumia but I did wrote on couple of tools that can enable mass storage on any Windows Phone. Can you try it from here and share if it works in the same way as the registry hacks does ?

...made a revision of my soundbox to fix the storage name issue.
FlaxBOX2 v3:
Its now easier to use, I left the sound names on a txt file still because its easier to change on you PC's notepad or PPC's notes than on 100 separated registry variables. :/
The folder and mp3 names are hardcoded so there are no mistakes.
"Theme 10" is empty so that you can add your own sounds (you can change all, of course).
Its limited to 10 folders with 10 sounds each, so that's 100 sound files.
What's new in v3:
-----------------
- More colors.
- More sounds (now 90 + your 10)!
- Favorite sound, on open it will play automaticly your pre-selected sound.
- Auto-configurable path, thanks to Wedge, the cab creates everything for you now.
- Shortcut on the start menu (wo-hooo).
- Quick-config paths in different languages (only needed if you open the app in a rom or PDA where you didnt installed the cab).
To install:
---------
- Install Flash 7: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer_pocketpc/downloads/player.html
- Download and extract the Zips and then the 2 part RARs, with Winrar.
- Install the CAB.
- Have fun.
To customize:
--------------
- Rename the names on the data.txt.
- Add your own Mp3 on the right folders with the right filenames.
- Create your own, following the same variables and placing them on the correct folders.
Create your own funny pack and upload it here for everyone to use.
Works Great on HP iPaq 210
Just tried your new version and it works great! I loaded FlaxBox on the CF Card following your very simple instructions, set the path and started using my new PDA Executor! Even better, this version should be easy to upgrade, just replace the exe ...
Thanks very much!
Works Great on Diamond
Thanks for this App,
works onmy diamond on storage card (AZTOR X2Ultimate), very simple to use and customize with 8 folders.
I start to complete 8th folder.
Thanks for the Ap! I have a problem though. I set the path for the sounds but it does not save. The program will find the folders up to the point where I restart my phone and then it does not find them. It also does not work with the default location. Any ideas?

Thanks, but I tested it and saves the path on mine... :/
Are you sure your not giving him the wrong path?
Mine is like this:
Yeah I am sure. Tried it so many times and different ways. Is there maybe a registry entry I should clear somewhere that may be corrupt from FlaxBox 1?
Thanks for any help!
Also this is on a VZW Touch Pro.
Nope, the older version relied completly on the txt file, so no registry at all.
You can use a freeware registry viewer or resco explorer to see whats on the:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FLAXBOX -> PATH
Whats the name of your storage card on the explorer?
My storage card is "Storage Card".
That registry entry is not there. Could that be the problem?
Well... it should create it... :S
But if its not there, it would read the default value... And if you are using that one, it's even more strange.
I agree. Can you copy the Registry entry as I should create it and see if that helps?
BTW - I am running custom ROM with lots of hacks so I am not trying to say there is anything wrong with your program. Others seem to be running it with no issue.
Well, you should only need flash 7. :/
Here it is, use it on any registry tool or Resco explorer.
hey! really nice app, but i have some problems with it. It looks like this:
Any ideas?
wow....thats a major video-card repulse to flash...
You have flash 7, right?
Never saw that before.
Yeah, i just installed it (on to my storage card). Maybe i should have installed FP on the internal storage? Or is my phone really crappy? (Asus P320)
edit: ok, my phone just sucks. I've reinstalled FP to the internal storage, no effect.
Oh well, the buttons work even if they are unreadable.
I think flash 7 always installs itself to the windows folder, even if you tell him to go to the storage card.
It is because of the rom, something about the video driver that isnt reading the colors correcly, it looks like an old bug in windows 3.11 (PC) that happened if you choose the wrong color limit... Not that this helps on anything... :/
Thanks but no luck. I think it must have something to do with the ROM. I will try it out again after my next ROM flash. I did try your no sd card version also with no luck.
Thanks again!

Could be the ROM... It's custom one. The strange thing is that other apps that require the video card work just fine (games, multimedia, even flash). Anyway, windows mobile is generaly buggy so this doesn't seem all that strange.
Thanks!

Olá twolf,
Thanks for this, it's a funny one!
I've tried to make a CAB for this and it almost worked. The main problem is that you're using "/" as a path separator instead of the standard (in the windows world) "\".
Maybe that is what is also causing problems to other people. If you could use "\" on the registry entry it would greatly simplify installation.
BTW, you keyboard is great, but just try to enter "Cartão de Memória" with it... You should know better!

Obrigado, I didnt understood the "\" "/" problem, but the tool's api I'm using for the registry only works with those commands, if I try to use it any other way it simply wont work...
Ouch, lol...you are right, I never had Windows Mobile in other languages, including my own, so never thought of that, hehehe...
You can still edit the registry manually with a reg tool, sorry about that...

[APP|TUT]How to convert / transfer SMS from Nokia to any WM HTC device

Please, leave feedback in this thread if it works, if it doesn't work or if you have encountered a problem somewhere! Thank you.
Tools needed:
Jeyo SMS backup
Nokia PC Suite
ABC Amber Nokia Converter
PSPAD or other notepad thingy
SMSImport
MuF's Nokia SMS convert utility
You need .NET CF 3.5 on your device. Please see this page or try this one. You probably already have this installed.
Procedure steps:
Install:
On your PC: Nokia PC Suite, ABC Amber Nokia Converter, PSPAD, MuF's Nokia SMS convert utility
On your PocketPC: SMSImport
Make full backup of your PDA! Or at least backup the messages with Jeyo SMS backup.
Run SMSImport on your PPC, export messages, name it for example "import.xml". Don't get confused by the name.
Copy the exported messages to your PC.
Sync your Nokia PC suite. Open messages, click on Message Folder you want to export from your Nokia.
Select (all) messages from the view, copy&paste them into new empty folder.
Open the folder with ABC Amber Nokia Converter.
Select all messages, File>Save as> TXT(ANSI). Name it for example "Inbox.txt".
Run MuF's Nokia SMS convert utility, open the Inbox.txt file. You will get file Inbox.txt_export.txt.
Open the Inbox.txt_export.txt, select all, copy.
Open the import.xml with PSPad, find one of the folders: inbox, sent items, deleted items, or other custom folder name.
Paste the Inbox.txt_export.txt right after the folder xml tag. It should look like this:
Code:
<folder name="Inbox"><message date="22/08/2009 22:47:55" sender="+4...
Don't worry if you have other messages after it, it doesn't matter. Your PDA will sort them out by the date/time stamp anyway.
Repeat the process for other items - saved, sent, archive, etc. Create another empty folder, copy&paste from Nokia Suite, load with ABC Amber, export as .txt, load with MuF's utility, paste new file into xml.
Save import.xml.
Copy import.xml right back to your PDA.
Open run SMSImport, import import.xml. Wait until all SMS load up, it can take few minutes to do.
Double check if the SMS are imported with correct date/time stamp, correct cell phone numbers and correct text.
If this helped you, hit the THANKS button bellow this post .
Known problems
XML importer has problems with "<" and ">" symbols in messages. If you have a problem with importing messages, please check if this isn't your issue before asking questions!
No warranties whatsoever. Few of mine SMSes got garbled during this process, few of them were duplicated or with bad date/time stamps.
There is a problem with names saving, see tutorial in the Links section below.

Found it, almost the same as your step but with the Android convert,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4506837#post4506837
The +91 is the country calling code , i guess the code is required only if ur calling outside ur city , but I can do without it & would not mind if it was removed from all the numbers eg i could use 9821000000 instead of +(91)9821000000

Hi.
I am working to update oblyvaeon Random Ringtones.
I want to liven up my old phone. Sure I can set my gf's ringtone, but that left me wanting.
I have reworked the code extensively. It is much faster than prior versions.
Now it also will randomize the ringtones as well as the SMS and Email tones.
Other ringtone types could easily be added. Right now it only will use MP3, MIDI, and WAV files. If you want some more types let me know...
Other features to be noted shortly. I could check to see if a custom ringtone is loaded for that person and try and set it to that person.
Keith
Requirements:
wm5/6(.5?), PPC/SP
Mortscript
Here is a link to the newest beta of Mortscript:
http://www.sto-helit.de/forum/download/file.php?id=265
You will need this updated version of mortscript. Mortscript v4.2 will not work; you will get a "config not found" if you need to update.
Today I will get the version checking and version updating script added.
oblyvaeonRandomRingtones13a.zip (13.0 KB, 102 views)
oblyvaeonRR13a.cab (194.2 KB, 3 views)
I notice that if the Phone rings are turned off but sms or email is on, it will ask to config on start.
Next update fixes that...
haven't tried it yet... how about adding MIDI file format?
Hi,
I added midi support (.MID files)
Thanks!
Hi,
When I try to select the folder, my explorer opens to select the directory, but I don't see any possibility to confirm my selection ...
Do you have any ideas?
I have a HTC Touch Cruise ...
Greetzzz
Hi, I got the following error: sub 'AutoReconfig' not found
Line: call ("AutoReconfig"RingsPath' "phone call", NumRings)
Nice script
Keep it work
Thx
Thanks for the info.
New version coming out shortly. cab file install as well as AppToDate support.
I will take a good hard look at your problem and see if I can't fix it good.

I believe this should work with all versions of windows mobile.
Next version will also have a browse ringtones and test em functionality.

Probably tomorrow afternoon it will be all cabbed up.
Can't Wait!!
Hey Keith -
I am eagerly awaiting the cabbed release! I have been using the Call Surprise program since I first got my Omnia, but it's always been a little buggy.. There's time's the phone didn't even ring! Just wanted to say thank you for your efforts!

I am using WM 6.5-based TESS 4.1. When selecting the directory where tones are stores I get :"sub 'config' not found; line 126..." (see pic).
Pre release test cab for u
Hmm.
Well I am working on testing the next update.
If the error persists I will root it out. In the meanwhile I will take a good hard look what may have caused that before I post it.
Tomorrow the new version gets posted... For sure this time...
But.
I appreciate you giving the app a try.
Enclosed is the near release.
It is a cab file for ease of install/uninstall.
It includes my media folder browser for selecting the ringtone folder.
If you want to hear a ringtone, just click ok on it. I guess we could add a delete function? Maybe that is not such a bad idea.
The autoupdate function is included but 100% untested. Scary.
I am not happy with the reinstall's ability to load prior defaults. I am fixing that now. Not too hard.
Let me know if any problems arise with the pre release and I will address those issues ASAPly.
Thanks, Keith.
same same ... but different
Still same pbm here: the window "first use" appears (which was not the case previously) but can't find 'config' function (error line 153...).
Media browser doesn't open when tapping tone directory.
Ringtone wouldn't change even if ringtones stored in windows directory (default directory).
very interesting.
Maybe I should ask what version of Mortscript do you have installed?
That being asked. I should have posted a link to the newest beta of Mortscript:
http://www.sto-helit.de/forum/download/file.php?id=265
You may wish to try this updated version of mortscript. I believe that will fix certain errors. I forgot that Mortscript v4.2 may not work, such as config not found.
Tomorrow I will be done with the reinstall coding. So if you need to reinstall you can just use the restore from backup.
I will add version checking to make sure we have the right version of mortscript installed.
Thanks again...
a step closer...
yes indeed moving from Mortscript 4.2 makes things a tad better: the storage directory can now be selected and everything seems running fine (incl the little jingle.) However, it is still the default ringtone that comes when the phone is called.
So does it work with windows 6.5 or it only works with windows 6 no one ever answered the question
Hi.
If you have wm65 and u wanted to try the first release, we would know if it worked right now.
I expect it will. If it won't work, I expect I will figure out how and make it so...
I am working on it now and as soon as it is ready will repost another test cab.
I am curious if it will work on 65 as well.
Thanks much...
Not rotating songs?
Hello -
I am on a cooked ROM with wm6.5
I installed the most recent mort script you posted.
The cab installed great. Program seemed to work as I opened to set it up. Initial test call had no ring at all, and didn't even vibrate (I always have my phone on ring w/ vibrate). I did a soft reset, and the phone rings, but it does not rotate through the songs in the directory I selected, it just seems to play the one I had chosen in the initial windows set up.
Any suggestions?
Thank You,
Caleb

Just wanted to share because it seems not a lot of people know these are out there. Enjoy!
MUST HAVE ROOT... probably...
seems promising
will have to check out Android Commander.
Droid Explorer runs pretty good, a bit laggy at times but it is promising. Hope it is ok to attach this jnlp to go with Droid Explorer in case anyone needs it. It was the only way to get screen cast to work properly. Just un zip, and toss the folder on the desk top. It helps start up the screen cast mode for Droid Explorer, in case anyone has trouble getting the one inside DE to work. Hope this helps.

Program size: ~55KB

SiRF GPS devices: packedEphemeris.ee (A bigger file is created with the unpacked packedEphemeris.ee called ephdata.clm in the same folder, '\Windows', when GPS run)

Servers:
6 Different servers to choose from (each server gives a different file)

It takes around ~10 seconds from cold start to get 9 satellites and have a stable connection.
The program writes registry's based on the radio option and save location, but only after a successful download. (option 1 to 6) (1 is default if there is no registry present)
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\Vico QuickGPS Lite]

Please donate if you like it and for support
.
thank you for share
Looks like a replacement for QuickGPS, I will play with this, and see how it works...thanks for sharing...
Nice! HTC's Quick GPS would be ok if they didn't skin it with 1.5 MB worth of bitmaps. This is light like it should be.
can you add a option for download xtra automatically when there is a wifi connection?
doesn't download in my device folder
and seem that don't remember what kind of xtra i want to download
Is this of any help to Omnia 2 users, or does this only help HTC phones?

I can try but that will be kinda hard. I will have to write a service that is constantly running in the background, or how else would it know when wifi is switched on..

The program writes a registry based on the radio option, but only after a successful download. (option 1 to 5) (1 is default if there is no registry present)
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\Vico QuickGPS Lite]
"Option"=dword:1
Also what do you mean" doesn't download in my device folder" it downloads to "\windows".

If you have GPS on your phone then it will help you also. But just give it a try.
Thanks for the app. What is the difference between this app and HTC own QuickGPS?
Thanks for sharing!
when i download the xtra with the normal wm application it writes a file xtra.bin in my device folder
with you program after download teh xtra, i search for it but can't find it
for the service in background i think that would be a great idea
"device folder" you mean on root? like outside the "windows" folder?
The xtra.bin is downloaded in the "\Windows" directory.
According to HTC QuickGPS, xtra.bin goes in the windows directory.
i see but here can't see it in window folder
(i have i8000)
(yes i mean the root)
Can you see it from your computer when you have it synced? Open it from my computer and go to the windows folder...
Samsung's xtra.bin puts it outside on root? hmmm dunno, cause htc does it inside windows. I may change the program to have a 'save file dialog' so you can save it in custom places....
usually i sync it with wifi, but searching on the phone with resco explorer can't see it on any folder
I used this instead of regular QuickGPS. But I could not get a fix no matter what! It is usually instantaneous when using QuickGPS. But not with this version. I have tried to download fix from 3 different sources, but none seems to make a difference.
Mine is a CDMA TP2. I usually never get a fix without QuickGPS download.
Any ideas?

Did you try like said in the first post?
also .. use the first server (world)
connect via GPStest and minimize it.
Excuse my ignorance, which is quite considerable, but... what do i do with it? I don't understand. Okay, I installed it just fine, and ran it, downloading "whatever" was downloaded, just fine. But, now what? How does this work with any GPS programs I have? Does it need to be opened and run in the background when i use a GPS program? Again, please excuse my ignorance and lack of understanding.
It goes in the "\Windows" folder. Programs (or maybe the OS) find it use it. So you don't have to do anything after you download it, you can close quickgps lite. I think you might need a SIRF gps chip, but im not to sure.
I use"GPS Test" program to get the connection because it is really fast. for me, if i don't use the packedemperisis.ee it takes a minute or two to connect, while with it it takes around 10 seconds.
on omnia 2 the bin is on My Divice directory not on My Divice/windows folder.
thanks for this apps . please make it to save the bin on My Divice directory
thanks again
