Hey Everyone,
I woke up this morning and had no 4G LTE connection, I tried battery pull, sim pull, waiting 15 minutes and then putting it all back. It would connect to 4g for about 20 seconds before jumping back to 3g. Being that I paid 300 bucks for this phone and it worked great since I got it, I called VZW. The rep I got confirmed that the 4G LTE network is having some outages but they know about it and are working quickly to restore service.
Looking thru some other forums, it seems to be an East Coast thing, I would like to know if any of you are having this problem as well, and if so where are you located. Please respond with your general location (or specific city if you want) and what networks are down for you. Ill start
Central Massachusetts has no 4G LTE currently. 3g an 1x are unaffected.
Albany NY area
Spotty 4g for the last few days and they told me the same thing. Seems OK today so far.
No problems here, 4G strong as ever.
Rochester NY, same problem.

I'm in Erie, PA and I can only connect to 4G for like a minute before it switches to 3G . I hope they fix it soon, I'm going through withdrawal! I NEED MY EXTRA G!

I've got the 4G's here in Michigan
Fine here in California although I'm far away and probably irrelevant.
Looks like I'm even having 3g problems now.
I listen to iheart streaming radio all morning at work & it may buffer occasionally but in general it works perfectly. A minute ago it cut out for about the 4th time this morning & now it's refusing to connect at all.

Interesting, I too am in Rochester and I have connection. Just ran a speed test of 10/6 to make sure. I'm downtown at work right now.
I have had no issues with 4G here in MN just outside the twin cities.

I actually live in Penfield & work in Victor.
I always have rock solid 4g at my house and usually 4g works in Victor.
This morning, my phone was in 3g coming off the charger which was odd. I put it in airplane mode & back & 4g started working.
It skipped back & forth between 4g & 3g all morning however. Now, it seems to be working again (it is in 4g now) but we'll see what happens the rest of the day.......

I have the proper number of G's in Milwaukee (four of them!) but I leave my phone on WiFi most of the time to save battery.
Baltimore area here. Haven't had 4G since last night. Rebooted my phone a few times. It would attach for a minute or two then drop right back to 3G.
Was still on 3G before I came into work a little bit ago.

Yea, the rep was telling me its only really affecting the East Coast and from what I see he it seems pretty accurate.
Does it really bug anyone else that VZW does not have a website with outages listed, like google does with the AppStatus Dashboard. It would probably save their reps a ton of phone time.

has anyone else had issues with 4g turning off randomly? the first several days i had this phone, i could get a 4g signal anywhere in my apartment. i know because i had serious issues with sprint signal in my apartment, so i practically haven't put this phone down since i got it.
yesterday i was tethering on 4g a lot and when i disabled tethering the 4g radio turned off and i just had two bars, but it didn't say 4g OR 3g. i went into the settings dialing *#*#4636#*#* or whatever it is and enabled LTE only mode (it had been on 3g/4g auto). when i did that, i had 4g for about 30 seconds to a minute and then it went to 3g. same thing happened this morning. maybe they are playing with the towers because as im typing this i see i have auto switched back to 4g. hmm.

I received my TB on Friday afternoon and had 4G all day and night until this morning. Woke up, powered the phone on and had only 3G. 4G came back after an hour or so.
I bought mine last week and didn't have any problems until this morning. For the first time I left the power off overnight and when I turned it back on I couldn't get a 3G or a 4G signal. It's been an hour now and I still don't have a signal. I've commuted from Maryland to DC in that time so it's not the area.

this is discussed in multiple threads already, you might search them out, but yes, many have the issue. I have that issue specifically that you mention, but even more frustrating also get time where the 4G icon is there, and there is zero data connectivity; all apps show "network connection required".
Sems like LTE isn't rock-solid service yet.
I have the same problem after I rooted last night. I had 4G everywhere in my house. Now I get mostly 1X and maybe 3G if I am lucky. The radio version was much higher before.

I called Verizon. there is a known issue with 4g Tbolt. they said they are working on it. Coworkers with 3g phones are having no issues. I am still getting 1x if i am lucky. Chicago area.

I am also have the same problem as of this morning. Just called Verizon and they said they are working on it. Now my phone is stuck on 1X I am in Queens NY right now coming from the Bronx...funny thing when I power down the phone and turn it back on it stays on 4G for about a second and disconects
I am also having issues with 4G going in and out. I had not had any issues until this morning and it was a bit worrisome as I just rooted last night and I was afraid something I had done might have caused an issue. But it seems like a national problem being addressed, so I'll just wait it out I guess.

I had the same problem this morning going from MD to DC. I was worried it was my phone. All seems well now. Getting 15 down now.

Stuck on 1x as well, outside Philly. Hoping it's not just me.
I'm having same issue,but mine happened just after I rooted my phone.Before rooting I had never seen my phone go into 3G mode,but now it goes to 1x or nothing.Hopefully its an issue on Verizon's end and not my phone.

Yup confirmed with tech support, there's a nationwide outage with 4g data and they are working it with the highest priority, the tech said. Ah the costs of new technology. Always will have issues at start.
So , my problem started yesterday and whenever I connect to 4g I'm not actually able to connect to anything online. Everything works fine over 3g and WiFi but everytime I'm ok 4g , I get nothing . I live in Philadelphia , and in a 4g service area. I've tried a master reset and still nothing. Does anyone have a way to fix it . I tried a search but wasn't able to fond any info for my problem . Having the same problem in the same area. I called Sprint just now, the rep said it wasn't the towers. I have a OG EVO, I'm about to power up and test out. If it works fine, I'm returning the 3D until they issue a fix. This one was a replacement for one that was running hot, but I noticed weak 4G speeds on that one also.
I actually went through your same ordeal on TWO 3vo's.....third one was a charm.. nothing will fix it, so you'll have to take it back to Sprint for a new one.

Thanks I'll stop in a store tomorrow. Hope 3 is the charm for me too, or I will go back to my OG for awhile. I need my 4G hotspot.
The rep mentioned there was a (bad batch) that was having problems. I was honestly almost going to cancel service and go back to sprint. Once you get a 3vo with no issues you're going to LOVE the phone. And just wait ti'll we have an unlocked bootloader....lol

Thanks for the update. I'm from the philly area as well. I'm going to keep mine on 4g all day to see if i also get the intermittent connection. Sometimes it will work then sometimes it won't
I was having the same issues yesterday. I spent like 2 hours talking with Sprint doing ##3282# data profile restores until the 5th rep says it’s a nationwide issue. The connection showed full reception on my 3D and my wife's OG EVO, but the connection to the internet or any other data services was intermittent. Seems to be fine today.
this was working fine today but stopped working about an hour ago. anyone else have this issue???

sadly this is not only a evo 3d problem...i have an epic 4g and have been experiencing the same problems, the 4g connects yet no webpages will load and apps wont connect to the internet. 4g sometimes starts working again but then it stops again. If anyone can find out what the hell is going on it'll be a great help.
I've had issues where certain apps don't get internet access while on 4G but the web browser always seems to work. I know Scrabble from EA didn't like the 4G, and Google Music didn't either.

everyone is honestly too quick to jump the gun and return their phones. It's quite silly and alarmist.
Just reset it or wait it out; that usually solves most problems.
This is my second evo 3d, this one works fine till today, i work at Bethesda ,MD, the 3g works fine, my 4g no way this evening, they need to solve this problem asap, or else they are going to loose customer, evo 4g has good reputation, E3D please don't destroy that reputation.
They responded to me on their Facebook wall, Wimax cell sites are down (intermittent data issue on 4G). They're working to bring them up.

I'm in Philly and I'm having the same issue (for the past two days now, actually). As of 9:53 EST in Center City Wimax is down, and it was down around 7:50 am today. Yesterday (Monday), I had connection problems from Noon to 4 (in Center City), but could connect to SpeedTest around 5:50 pm in Mt Airy.
If it is just the wimax cell sites being down, as opposed to a bad 4G attenca in my phone, does anyone know of a way to check besides calling Sprint? Their reps vary wildly in competence (or at the least, some suck at reading their memos/emails), and I don't want to have to call 80 of them to get a straight answer :/

Yeah, I noticed Someone had mentioned in this thread that he'd had two 3vos with busted antennas, so I'm a little worried (I've had an amazing streak of non-defective electronics purchases, and I'd hate for this phone to end my streak LOL).
As of 10:40 Am EST in downtown Philly, with 1 bar of 4G and 4 bars of signal strength, I have Wimax data transfer (3.20 Down and 0.07 up, 115ms ping). That's after updating my PRL then my profile while 4G was on. I'm guess they're currently working on getting the WImax cells up.
I was one of the lucky ones that got vastly improved 3g a week ago. Now, not so much. Speeds are back to the way it used to be... I hope it only means they're still working on things here south of Chicago. Except, 4g speeds are suffering now too. 1mbps for 3g has gone down to 200kbps and 10mbps 4g is now 1mbps.
I too was experiencing extremely too good to be true speeds of about 1500-1800kbps here in upstate NY, and as of late i hang around 150kbps the way its been for the last 9 months. I am also constantly jumping from 3g, 1x to no data what so ever. I hope that just means they are still fixing the issue...
My slight speed increase went away as soon as the evening came and they were back to normal which is unuseable

Yeah, I've actually checked a few times throughout different times of the days. And I've also gotten 1x in areas i normally don't but with full bars of service. I really didn't notice the difference until today though with the exception of the random 1x service.
Still have improved speeds after the *mystery update* here.
Strange, i've been getting frequent 1x switchovers in houston texas.. I was peaking at 2.2 mbps on 3g
Here near Houston I am having wacky 3g speeds.. Blazing one moment and crawling the next.. Consistent 3g though.

Maybe they rolled it out to test its work load capacity for data gathering, then reverted back for further analysis? Just a guess. I do envy you guys though. Still get 96 down in these woods.

I'm in upstate too, it's absolutly insane how much it's been jumping around lately. In Johnstown/Amsterdam area it's not too bad, but out in Schenectady/Rotterdam area it's all over the place, one minute I'm getting almost 2mb's then BAM 2kb/sec(no joke I had a speedtest come up as that).

i am much further south than u r, but maybe there is some hope, about a week ago i thought things were "fixed" i cant take this any more.
How do we know if our phones have updated without us knowing it. Is it a software version or something we can check?

Improved speeds went away for me too as far as I can tell. One thing I've noticed is 1x in areas I've never had issues in and its not just my phone either. My girlfriend's evo 4g shift (bone stock, still unrooted) is doing the same in the same areas.
4G perfect, standing still it drops to 1x then back to 3g and then eventually to 4g. The strange part is while this happens I have full signal.
So far this has happened in downtown Orlando, FL and over in Conway area (for you other Orlando XDA ppl)
It happens more indoors at my house (until the update, never hit 1x at my house) when signal goes down to 2-3 bars over the past 24hrs. It happened a lot Friday out in the open in an error that I've never dropped below 3G (and even then, very rarely).
Anyone else noticing this in the Orlando area? Sprint says there are no known network issues.
Today I lost all data. Sprint says it is because they are updating their towers. Should I have this problem all over Dallas? My wifes phone works fine. Spent an hour with tech no luck. I went to the Sprint store and they just said people have been coming in all day.
My two friends with the same phone have no issues and one other with a rooted phone has issues. I hope I didn't lose data because I rooted my phone.

You can be certain that it isn't the rooting itself that would cause your data issue. Try going into your settings>Mobile Network: and where it says "Network Mode" select it and choose "CDMA Only" and see if you can connect then. With network vision being so close I would image alot of strange things are going on in those areas (im in the atlanta market but havent experience and problems). And one guess I have is since data is fine on a non LTE-device, it's almost CERTAINLY a tower work kind of error. Our phones (lte phones) have different PRL's than non LTE phones so our phones choose what towers to connect to , and how to connect to them, differently. I'm sure this will be remedied extremely soon. probably fine by the time you wake up in the morning.
Im in Grapevine/colleyville and I frequently loose data for a sec, but not long periods of time. It's cause of the lte roll out. Should be all good on july 15th

Live in Dallas work in grapevine, same issues. Hoping 15th roll out solves everything, luckily I'm on WiFi at home and work so its not overly unbearable. Grapevine however I have trouble with text sometimes.

Im actually having the same issue here in Houston. If network mode is set to LTE/CDMA, i get no data. Still shows 3G, but the arrows that show receive/transmit show the transmit arrow solid. Where if I change my network mode to CDMA only, data works fine.
So HOPEFULLY it is as suggested, tower work due to Network Vision. Fingers crossed!
Yeah I have the same problem . I loose data complety . Sprint said it should work. I don't know if its the phone prl or the towers . I also heard a few people say it was happening to people with rooted phones but I really don't know . I live in fort worth and loose data 20 plus times a day .

I wish my data was turning off and on...I have none at all. So werid. It was supposed to be fixed by today according to tech support at sprint. After another hour on the phone ...no dice.

Same issue in Austin. The CS rep I'm talking to speculates it might be tied to the storms in the NE/midwest.
I'm also getting errors updating my PRL and profile.
On hold with tech support right now. Once I'm done, I'll try setting my network mode to CDMA only and see if that helps.
Well today i had no signal and everyone i know had no signal we all have sprint. Sprint said as we speak they were working on the vision project for the towers for lte and from what i read online today was they day they were working in my area. The plan for lte was to start with the small towns around Chicago and then chicago last so people in Chicago could pick up signals from near by areas until the towers in Chicago get updated. Theres more cell towers in chicago alone then the rest of illinois combined so this make perfect since. I'm from Rockford Illinois and i have horrible 3g speeds. Hoping they flip this lte switch soon.

Things are working for me again. Sprint tech guy had me dial ##72786# and input the password 033322. From their, he had me hit menu and reset.
The phone rebooted and reactivated. Then I updated my profile and prl. Those failed the first few times, but they worked when I set the network mode to cdma only. Switched back to cdma/lte and everything's back to normal.
The tech did confirm that we were feeling echoes of the network disruption (due to a storm) in the northeast.
I live in Richardson and work in Plano. No 3G issues anywhere for me. Including going into downtown Dallas yesterday and today.

Live in McKinney, was in Dallas earlier today and lost all data. Yes, I am rooted. Where I live though, towers have been up and down the last two weeks and it's getting aggravating.

Yeah the phone is almost unusable. I don't know if its the phone or the work on the towers. I've tried the cdma only option and its still a no go .

Mine did that the first night I had it for a few ours. Had no signal at all. Went to bed and in am it was back to normal. Is your roaming on? Turn it on once and see if you get a signal and data. I was able to when I had no signal with sprint only on

Is anyone in the cities/communities that LTE went live in, connecting to the network and maintaining the connection? I am in San Antonio, and have only had LTE connect once and that was before the network went live. I checked the coverage map and it says it should connect but I am having no luck. I have read in other threads that people connect for a few seconds then go back to 3G service. I just wanted to see what everone else's mileage is. Thanks

the sprint maps arent accurate as of right now. the towers havent all been upgraded. that map is more a representation of coverage once there done. i was holding a stable 4g connection down in the quarry saturday afternoon.
I saw the 4g icon once about a month ago. And it was so sporadic I couldn't do anything with it.
Now that it's officially live in KC. Still haven't seen anything. Stuck on 3g and I'm about a mile and a half from the Sprint campus.
I was out of town last week and was hoping to come back to LTE. Sprint said the 15th, so I guess shouldn't expect much until the end of the month.
I am in DFW and where I live I get nothing.. not even a blip of 4G turning on. Where I work it turns on but it usually flips right back to 3G. I was able to hold it for about 15 mins at one point this morning but thats been it.
Unfortunately for me 3G coverage on my towers is god awful to the point im tempted to activate my OGEvo and use wimax till this is sorted.
I live 3 blocks from the sprint compound in KC and haven't seen a hair of LTE. Odd.

Went outside during lunch and did pick up 4g.
Ran a speedtest, 1.5 down, about the same up. Not real impressive. Although still better then the non-existent 3g as of late.
As soon as I walk back in the building it goes back to 3g.
I am in San Antonio as well, and no, it goes crazy 4G-3G-4G-3G etc etc but it does not maintain 4G... it switches back to 3G and stays there... if I force it to stay on 4G (##DATA#) it get good solid 4G speeds at one point 10down 8up... but it wont make or receive phone calls, if I reboot I get a "the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly"
I seriously hope things improve in terms of the network. It would be a shame if all this NV stuff Sprint talked about was just hype.... I know LTE just went live but it should atleast be able to grab a decent connection. Let's just hope it can penetrate better and be more reliable than WiMAX....

I was able to get LTE in the 1604/I10 area Friday night but now its nowhere to be found. I spoke with a customer rep and they did say that it will be a work in progress as they are making some sort of adjustments to the towers and that when that happens they may be taken down to make the switch and the overload of traffic on other towers is causing it to not connect properly to the LTE servers. I would have thought that this transition would have been made before going live but apparently not. Hopefully over the next few days the network gain strength.

Another person in SA with no 4G here. I carpooled this morning and saw nothing the whole way to work. (Bandera & 1604 across 151 and then to Culebra & 410 if we're mapping this). Went out for lunch and didn't get any signal either. Oh well, I guess we'll see how things look in a week or so.
I talked to a Sprint rep and they said they are still working to get the coverage shown on the map for LTE. I gave them a couple zip codes and they came back and said they should go live soon
Try getting a hold of a Sprint rep on chat/phone and give them your zip if you are supposed to be getting LTE according to the map.
Personally I am getting blazing speeds in the south but 0 LTE in the north. I am being patient :angel:
I'm not in San Antonio at the moment. Live in Los Angeles and well...I'll let my screenshot speak for it's self.

Odessa texas here, Nothin man, nada. What pisses me off is that we're paying for 4g service and we cannt even get it. like paying for a meal you cant eat, a car you cant drive, a hooker you cant,,,,ok thats too much, Anyways you know what im saying ,,,right?

The 10$ is for any smartphone regardless of 4g or not. They changed that charge a long time ago. Its premium data now. Every company does this..no big deal.

Originally it was a WiMAX charge but then they figured out that they couldn't legally charge for their WiMAX unless it was actually up and running in their entire proposed network. They then said it was for all smartphones to get around it. Yes its not a big deal because sprint is still cheaper than the other carriers but they still don't have a completely functioning WiMAX/lte network. We all know its a 4g charge no matter what they call it

Dacula, GA here. Got a 4g signal about a month ago, but only for a short while. Now the coverage map says that I am covered, but I haven't gotten any signal. So like everyone is saying, the map is pretty inaccurate right now. Hopefully i'll get some connection by the end of this month.
This is the best I could do today in the Vinings GA (burbs of of ATL) area. 4G has been flashing since Mon for me. It lasts for less than 5 mins, but long enough for me to do a few speed tests. 4G also flashes at my home, but its very brief. What's crazy is today I was told about the Open Signal app, so I downloaded it. It's really helpful... What I didn't know was the tower I see near my job is a Sprint Tower. I also have another tower about a mile away. I saw today I caught 4G from both. Makes me wonder what's really up? The tower is right outside my office, so is the LTE signal that weak, or are there some kind of signal/antenna issues? Oh by the way, the Sprint Tower is also really close to where I live. It's about 0.2-0.3 miles away...
