I lastly got a I9100 from a friend. I wanna use it but I can't because the sim is locked.
I've tried the guide by Odia but I think my phone uses the "new protection".
Is there any other way for unlocking the SIM?

It is based on odia's method only. Might work.
I've tried this already...
I tried unlocking either from editing the nv_data file or using the application but non have worked for me. Perhaps my phone uses the new protection.
I'm asking if someone has found a new way to unlock this already?
Flash an old 2.3.3 rom or any custom rom and tat wl flash d old bootloader..i think tat wud help..

Hi, so firstly, make sure that your phone is rooted. There are loads of posts on how to do this.
Then, I downloaded Galaxy S unlock by helros and used that method. (available on the market)
I Stupidly used the Unlock SGS option instead of the SGSII unlock option within this app, but it still worked. (Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S II respectively) I guess they had idiot proof mode built in.
That worked a treat and within 5 mins of following the instructions and a reboot later, I had my own sim in the phone
OP - please reply if the above method worked for you.
I also got a gt-i9100 on 2.3.5 and i couldn't find the unlock code using Samsung Galaxy S2 SIM unlock app.
I then tried the unlock app by helros but I only get a busybox error...

PS: the phone is rooted with superoneclickroot app.
Well it didn't work for me.
It showed a very strange code with ???||0 .....

I have xperia s and this device simlock by Rogers, BL was also lock. I rooted it yesterday. Does anyone know some apps can show the unlock code? I tried to bought the code, but they dont have any code yet.
Hey, I'm in the exact same boat as you. I got a Rogers locked phone and no one has unlock codes. I've tried around 5 companies now. Ebay and the number of other online companies.
No one has been able to find the unlock codes. Get this, I called rogers and the imei Id is not even in their database. I called Sony and they said they have the phone id and it should be a Canadian phone, locked to Rogers. Rogers has no record of this phone.
Anyone got any ideas?
I did not try this method on xperia phones. But it is android. So, it may work.
Also you can take a look by root_explorer this folder on your phone (dev/block/). And if you will find there this file (bml15) let me know, and i try to give you one more method

better if you don't try this method... I've unlocked galaxy ace and mini with 'bml5 method'...

Is it impossible on xperia?
i think that method is not safe, i just want a app can figure out the code from files and show me. At least i did that to my friends galaxy s

my idea is SONY changed the code file after SE, the SONY devices has not the same code file with SE, so those method are no longer working on SONY devices.

I got mine unlocked and is now working.
I changed rom and phone get locked.
It says "unlock sim".

Hmm strange issue...
Could it be that the sim isnt recognized? I've never heard of a ROM that has ended up SIM locking a phone.
What I beleve Colorowy was trying to say is that maybe you're phone is sim locked?
Flash back to stock, put a sim from your carrier in the device, and use galaxsim unlock (as he said)

the problem is when i use *#197328640# on dial phone, nothing happen, but when i use *#0011#, i have the service mode, but with missed unlock menu, some screen shots in attachment.
Please, anyone can help me with this issue ?

You are on the new efs2 19300XXUGMKG firmware their is no free way to unlock this (correct me if i'm wrong) only way is a paid unlock code..

So what should I do, are there any more apps to try? Also I have no idea what hardlock is and maybe it is hardlocked and that's why apps don't work.

Since i had similar problems except the hardlock (?), i can tell you my experiences.
The app by Helroz worked for me only i had the original rom provided by the carrier. Dunno about Chainfire's since, it always worked by Helroz.
Whenever i had different rom ( JB, IC, KK) none of the applications worked for me.
Regarding to GalaxSim unlock, it wanted me to get the PRO one which is about 3 dollars (?) to can unblock it, but i don't like to pay for sth that it has no quarantee thats gonna work =D.
So you'd rather pay your carrier $20/$25/$50/or more than pay a couple of bucks for an app ? (Even if it doesn't work, big deal. It's a couple of bucks, not a king's ransom)
Yeah, I forgot to mention that I already tried GalaxSim Unlock yesterday, but I don't know about the PRO version.
Any method to unlock? I tried GalaxSim Unlock, but it doesn't work.
