[REQ] Spice Fire / Key XT311 / XT316 ROM dump. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello fellow Spice owners!
I'm working on developing some custom firmware for the XT300 and eventually the XT311/316, but to get started I need some ROM dumps.
Ideally I need a dump of both the 2.2 FroYo and 2.3 Gingerbread firmwares.
If you've never dumped a ROM before it's not too hard.
First you need a rooted phone. I don't have XT31x hardware yet, but SuperOneClick should work for the 2.2 ROM and there are detailed instructions for rooting 2.3 in the Q&A forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218506
For the rest of the instructions, there is a simple to understand set of directions at M3.
http://modmymobile.com/showthread.php?t=559669
Thanks in advance,
Martin

i could have given u a rom but i crashed mine, so i need as well a rom
its quite difficult to find Fire XT316 threads because of the lack of a own Forum section
-> a own Forum can be pushed here: Link vote +1

I doubt the XT311/316 will get a forum just yet, but I'm thinking maybe a unified XT300/311/316 forum maybe once we get some interest going with a ROM or two.

Then u would probably need to integrate the Fire XT531 as well.
=> Motorola Fire XT300/311/316/530/531 Forum

AFAIK, the XT530/531 are not very closely related to the XT3xx line. They mostly just seem to share cosmetic similarities with a different hardware platform.
Edit:
Ignore what I just said, upon further inspection they do appear to be related, just based on the newer/faster msm7227T SOC.
Looks like I've got another device to add to my list.

Just a side note, dont mess around with the vm heapsize, it made my spice go into a bootloop and i cant do anything with adb. had to send it in for repairs ):

What model spice? You could probably still have done a repair with RSD lite, asuming there is an SBF for your model.

the one in ur post didn't worked.

well i live in toronto and ive already boot looped it before and I STILL CANT FIND ANY SBF. theres none to be found and there arent any tutorials on how to extract the firmware into a sbf. sent it in for repairs already

Hey, I'm in Toronto too, lol.
You didn't answer my question as to the model.

Thanks!
What model and version of Android (FroYo or GB)?
I will update the OP with the link you provided, thanks.

By model what do you mean? Currently there are three (I think) different models, Canadian, Brazilian, and Chinese. I have the Canadian version but I got to borrow my friend N1 for now

Or are you rocking a a classic XT300 on Mobilicity like me?
Sent like a Streak of Light from Spidey, my Dell Streak 5

xt300 like a boss I tweaked mine like crazy and eventually vm killed it. Have u ever found a solution to fix home screen redrawing when sliding the keyboard in/out?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Yeah, tweak the hell outta mine too. I've actually changed the VM heap settings without tanking mine, btw, I do have a ROK dump already and backups that can be flashed with fastboot in case of emergency.
There is no publicly available SBF for us. Just the ones that the authorized Moto repair facilities have access to. Wish I could get my hands on that.
Sent like a Streak of Light from Spidey, my Dell Streak 5

I put my vm too low and started boot looping and it wouldn't respond to adb . What's a ROK dump? I wish we could get the sbf too..... Btw how much experience do you have with building roms? I concluded that I don't have enough experience plus the locked bootloader is really annoying.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Just found this
" Hi Xiao, I found a way to download the SBF file from Motorola for the Brazilian Rom, here it is: You need the Motorola Software Update (MSU) Any time after the MSU detect your IMEI number, Model Number and Operator, You need to reboot your phone and press and hold “Space” key, don’t close your MSU your phone will be in RSD/BOOTLOADER mode and the MSU will continue with the following message “The update process has been interrupted and must be restarted.” click Retry And it give you the SBF for your firmware. MSU will download the SBF file and put it in C:\Program Files\Motorola\Software Update\firmwares. it also created a file Retail – Brazil_Brazil_WCDMA_RETBRXT300WN.xml.msu who tell to motorola the file to download. As soon the file is download and the MSU prepare the installation it is important to copy the SBF to another location because it will be deleted when finished. Once you have copy the file you can stop the installation. Someone tried this with a Canadien rom but the MSU doesn't detect the Model Number and Operator."
could you give this a shot?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Good ecfort!
Unfortunately I've tried it before, but it won't work. Motorola never released any Canadian SBF to the public update server as far as I can tell. They have two SBF servers. The "public" one which the Motorola Software Updated uses and the "private" one, which requires a secure authenticated session and is only available to authorized Motorola Service Centers.
Also, that was supposed to read "ROM dump"
I did a dump of my system, boot and recovery partitions. I've got them all in .img files which are flashable by fastboot.
Handy for recovering from a messed up build.
I've only ever built a few ROMs, but I think I can pull it off.
The plan is to start simple with trying to get FroYo from an XT316 to run on a XT300. The hardware is near identical, except for the upgraded CPU, so it should be simple.
Then on to an AOSP FroYo build. Eventually I'm going to try to get GB running too, but that might be too much for the limited hardware.
Of course, I'm stuck with the stock 2.6.29 kernel due to the bootloader lock, so no overclocking or kernel tweaks.
I'm also going to try and get an AOSP build done for the XT311/316 once I get my hands on the firmware.
Sent like a Streak of Light from Spidey, my Dell Streak 5

Darn..... well that's alright. When we get froyo its going to be so much better. I find that even after i removed the spicy.apk there were still lots of motorola stuff running in the background :/. When do you think you will have an experimental rom?

Dell Streak rogers 1.6 to US 2.2 how i did it

Seen alot of blogs explaining how to update the android of Dell streak phones from AT&T and O2 but none for the Rogers with build number 7921.
Well i spent some time when i got my new phone to find out how to do it and to my surprise it was hard to find how to but easy to actually do it.
Only to follow 2 different site tutorials to get this done.
1. Follow the last part of the tutorial to get your streak to version 6601 ATT&T
after this phrase "If you just wanted to revert to O2 1.6 (build 4399) then you are done. If you are going to AT&T 1.6 (build 6601) we have to change the system so it will upgrade the the AT&T ROM."
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805112
once you got your streak to 1.6 ATT&T build 6601 you must follow a simple tutorial with interactive video and even has a video so you can make it work with your win7 X64 witch alot of tutorials don't help with.
2. Follow this part to the letter and if you have trouble they have a FAQ section and even supply all the files you need.
QDLTool Visual Tutorials (for Windows only)
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92
In this second part all you have to do in general is set up all your needed drivers and stuff in windows then open the program and press RUN. Just make sure you do all the steps without missing one.
No need to go through the fastboot or recovery menu in this part.
And it gives you Full US version of android 2.2 from a locked version of Rogers android 1.6.
Hope this will help my fellow Canadian Streakers
Thanks for Taking time to do this for fellow streakers

No problem. It's my first one ever so i hope i passed to hole point and helped some (dell irritated) people.
Actually, all you need is the 2nd step - QDLTool doesn't require any specific version installed on the phone.
Glad you like the visual tutorials .. let me know if theres anything I can do to improve them.

ok i see i can upgrade to steve's 1.5.3 only thing is do i use the one with AMSS or the V2.1 baseband
I'm unlocking it with a Rebel simcard
In the guid (Beyond QDLTool) it says to use 1.5.3 + AMSS 1.5.1+. But i have read here and there that if your using the rebel simcard you have to use the No baseband one. So do i use the 1.5.3 no baseband and use the AMSS 1.5.1+ and follow all in the guide or do i juste use the 1.5.3 no baseband and skip the AMSS 1.5.1+ in the guide?

im not 100% but i think you just need to flash the no baseband version thats it , you could ask that in the thread for that rom just to be certain
Hey...I have the rogers streak and was wondering if I update to dj steve's custom rom will i run into issues when the actual Rogers 2.2 comes out? Will I be able to put the stock version back on? I am a bit worried for warranty purposes as well...can it be brought back to stock or is it a one way ticket? Reason I ask is I also have several phones including a Rogers Acer liquid e and unfortunetly can't go back to the stock version of froyo because of some thing Acer and Rogers did in the update that recognizes the fact my phone was rooted and not running a rogers baseband or something like that...I just sold my Galaxy s because I was sick of dealing with Samsung and their issues....So from what I can tell Rogers is only releasing the froyo update in late spring and 3-4 months is crazy considering most of the other countries already have froyo on their streaks...Man Rogers is so bad for their updates...Anyways...can i temporarily update to the leaked versions or should I wait? Thanks

you are correct. if you want to use the rebelsim, you HAVE TO use the no baseband version. 1.5.3 is the latest version
thanks for the great guide, I just got mine today and its already running 2.2 on 318 baseband
its true that u can qdl from any version though so I went straight from 1.6 to 2.2 prerelease then to 318 using the link in the streakdroid guide for beyond qdl

Thanks to the OP, I updated my Rogers Streak from stock 1.6 to 2.2 to StreakDroid 1.6 yesterday!
Despite my reservations, it couldn't have been easier. I used the QDLTool to jump from 1.6 to 2.2 directly, and I then followed the additional instructions on the StreakDroid site to flash the rom. The hardest part was installing ClockworkMod Recovery prior to all that to do a rom backup. For some reason it took many tries to get it to hold, but eventually it worked.
Unfortunately I may be in the minority but I dislike the new homescreen layout. I still haven't found a way to get icons and widgets to stay close together like they did in the stock 1.6 version.
Hi guys,
I guess i have bricked the device while updating to 2.2.
As far as i know i have done nothing wrong i followed the Guide step by Step and Downgrade to AT&T firmware as the first guide in this post.
While i was running QLDtool it errored out and Turned off by itself. After since i have tried everything and the Device just Doesn't have power anymore. Pluging into wall socket is not giving anything either.
Any thoughts on this?? Any Help will be appreciated.

from what i understand, you need a launcher that can let you edit the number or rows and columns on each homescreen, im currently using launcher pro and have 8 columns and 6 rows in landscape. hope this helps as im a new user too so not sure if this is what you meant

You're exactly right. I spent an hour reinstalling StreakDroid 1.6.0 with different DPI settings before giving up in frustration, but I found the settings menu for ADW the next day. I used a 6 x 6 grid and disabled automatic stretching, and that way my picture frames look perfect.
Great work on the rom guys! My Streak feels much more smooth and responsive than under stock 1.6.
Andy you shouldn't have a problem as long as you get a copy of the Update.pig you should be able to revert back.

Also check your density on the 1.6 streakdroid install. when i used us120 or denisty120- -160 they were to far apart. i also found that US180 didn't work the phone wouldn't boot. i had to use density180 vs us180 and everything is perfect. right amount of space. i installed just gingerbread stock launcher and im using the adw ex launcher its the best in my eyes.

Thanks...I still may wait though...I rooted my Acer liquid e and also just picked up a Samsung Captivate to play with and use as a back up..streak is so big...lol..nice to have a phone that fits in your pocket..... and since selling my GTi9000 i kind of missed it.....I love the streak and really don't want to void the warranty or better yet brick either...I am going to treat my captivate to the lagfix for now and maybe try gingerbread on my Liquid e...Been doing some reading and they are almost there...Still a few bugs however should not be long before they are worked out...As you probably noticed i love phones and have had like 30 phones in the last year...lol...Streak is my favorite so far...Have not touched my laptop much since i got it..Any news on when Rogers will come out with the official version of froyo? I read someone that April is the soonest? Anyone here anything else? I hope they come out with the update shortly ...otherwise I may be forced to root it...Any news would be appreciated..Cheers

Pull the battery out and put it back in.
If the streak looses power, it will be stuck in a power off state and plugging in the cord will do nothing.
After you reseated the battery, you should be able to charge the device again.
After it is charged, follow from where you left off.

[Q] Any custom ROM for Australian Telstra released Atrix yet?

Is any able to advise me if the Telstra version of the Atrix would have similar issues to the Bell OS, if I decided to load up Motobread, Ginger blur etc etc.

I may have missed something but i followed the steps to install gingerblur and well, it bricked my Telstra atrix that I only got yesterday
Luckily i made a backup of the telstra firmware as soon as i got it so its all good. Just got no idea on how to install CF. The telstra atrix i'm assuming is the same as the AT&T atrix because they are both "Motorola Atrix MB860" but i could be missing something
Uh oh, radio's and fingerprint reader aren't working
Oh, and it also wont turn itself off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys should probably be following instructions for the Bell Atrix. Bell users have been successful at flashing the telstra firmware and then installing grey/ginger blur and so I'd start there.
Hope it helps
DarkRyoushii
PS: OMG Atrix is released in Australia now? I should go find a telstra store and check out the differences, my Atrix that I've had since launch (from AT&T then unlocked) is the only one I've actually used so I'd love to see if the bugs in mine still exist in telstra's hahaha
EDIT: Oh and if u need a briefing. Bootloader Bypass has basically dropped off the radar and turned silent, probably still being worked on in private chats to avoid spam and offtopic posts. 2nd Init works (a different way to install custom ROMs however unable to modify kernel) but there are no ROMs developed yet, probably also being worked on in private chats if you are interested check out the freenode IRC #moto-atrix
All ROMs released as of writing are pseudoROMS that only theme and lightly modify the current OS
Thanks

I had a really bad feeling that that would be the case. Bell users appear to have a limited range of options compaired to the AT&T users. Now it seems that the Telstra users will have even less options than the Bell users.
I have at least managed to load HeLauncher, Pyramid & Fancy widgets tonight and now I've have more of the options that I wanted from the HTC desire sense UI.
Still trying to work out how to get my hands on the widget/live weather wallpaper that has that Super Cool looking windscreen wiper that clears the rain away.... Any ideas on how to get ahold of it?
Thanks again.
limited how? what version is your telstra rom? (wondering if its the same as the one that is already on this site)
as for the windshield wiper, that is from sense....oh i see you found the mock sense thread.

My system version is;
Version.4.1.47,MB860.Telstra.en.AU
Thanks for the info, I will start looking for the other one on this site.
So i can guess we can all agree that Telstra's Atrix cannot be flashed with custom ROM's from AT&T. I just tried it again tonight with different roms and all works up, shows "Ginger Blur" or whatever it is and then the red blinking failed boot and it just tries over and over to boot. I'm gonna flash back to OLYEM_U4_1.4.2_SIGNED_USAOLYEMTELSTRA_P029_A020_M005_HWolympus_1g_1FF and just sit and wait till something comes up unless someone's got something they wanna try
they should be able to flash using the gingerblur/greyblur guide by seven2009. you may not be able to deodex with the same instructions but installing should be fine, you would need to flash grey blur and factory reset the device before installing gingerblur.
If that route doesn't work you may need to start by flashing the french rom that is mentioned in that thread first.

You are doing better than me so far, but I must admit that going for custom ROM's has me a bit worried. I flashed my Nokia 5800 and it was better for looks and customisation, but it crashed alot. Then I jail breaked my iSheep (iphone 3G) and that was a little better than stock iOS, but it also crashed alot too.
I am hesitant to play around too much with the Atrix, simply because it's so new, and I was patient enough to wait for the Telstra release (instead of an imported AT&T version). However I found this thread that may shed some light on the topic at hand.

User "LeChuck" has some great knowledge and info about this Telstra firmware.
I am just not adventurous enough at the moment to have a crack at it. All I need to do, is find out how I could hard reset back to stock firmware if I don't like mods, then i'll give it a go. Even since rooted it over the weekend, I've notice3d more little issues each day I play around with things.
Can it be "Un-rooted" (is that an actual term used???) back to standard?

You mean, you would like the procedure of installing a custom ROM on those specs? I would too.
It's mainly the BL unlock process I am not sure about on Telstra Atrix of the same spec. I'm comfortable with the rest.

[Q] Is It Possible To Apply A Milestone X SBF To A Milestone X2 To Achieve Root?

I have the Milestone X2 MB867 from CSpire Wireless, System Version 45.0.43.MB867.ACG-CS.en.US that came with Android Version 2.3.6 stock.
Android 2.3.6 patched the security vulnerability that was exploited by the Zergrush and Gingerbreak methods against Android 2.3.4 and 2.3.5. As of Friday, January 20, 2012 04:33:18 PM, attempts to use applications such as SuperOneClick 2.2.x - 2.3.3, MotorolaOneClick, PetesMotorolaRootTools, Unlock Root and the manual method documented here: ht tp:// nosky. us/xsGquN (no spaces) have failed.
So, I'm considering using the SBF method to flash the phone to a rootable state.
I've come across a 2.3.5 OTA update on the following XDA thread which people have successfully reported using on the Milestone X (not X2) as an SBF:
ht tp:// nosky. us/zNES38 (no spaces)
It's an update from my carrier, C Spire / Cellular South, for the Milestone X.
I'm wondering "theoretically" whether the hardware is similar enough for me to use it on my Milestone X2 TEMPORARILY -just long enough to root it and to load a custom ROM like Eclipse or CyanogenMod.
From what I've read, the biggest hurdle for most people using an SBF is loosing carrier-specific settings and thereby breaking cellular and data access. Though the file mentioned above is not specific to my device, I'm thinking that it is similar enough that I might be able to use it to get root and retain my carrier settings to load a custom ROM.
So, is this plan remotely feasible? Or, are there details I'm missing such as programming built into the phone's flash chip that checks for a particular firmware signature or a firmware that is specific to the device (thus meaning it will reject the milestone X files automatically)? Is the phone locked in some way to prevent flashing all together? I'm not sure about what all I don't know. LOL
I'm not averse to risk and willing to "take one for the team" but I try only to take calculated risks, so any insight anyone else can provide would be greatly appreciated.
You would be better off trying our sbf(dx2). A guy did try it.

Thanks for the reply skwoodwiva.
In the following post, jbzcar claimed to have accomplished root using SuperOneClick but I have yet to find an independent confirmation from another user:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20908482&postcount=39
In short, I'm not sure how much stock I put in his testimony.
I've used Verizon-based ROMs such as Pete's Bugless Beast on my C Spire / Cellular South Milestone in the past and did not have any issues. Assuming that I can successfully flash a Verizon DX2 SBF, can loss of data functionality be corrected? Is there such a thing as an SBF that does not change carrier specific settings (e.g. PRL, Baseband, etc.)?
I can only offer this observation : you Mx2 guys can be very different from each other as your providers are different . You could get a better handle on things if you guys had a way of each poster IDing their phone w/ their phone info page screen shot. If you started a thread and the op had several running "versions found" to fit all the new posters phones into a usefull pattern may develop.

Are there more versions ?
Hi folks, just wanted to stop in and comment as per a request. Unfortunately, after reading this, I am certain it won't work at all because of hardware differences between M2 and MX2.
Rather than trying to crossflash firmware files in order to root, I would suggest looking at other vulnerabilies in the OS. I realize this is easier said than done, but it is far more likely to be successful than this effort. The person to talk to about would be djrbliss who has done a lot of work on rooting recent Motorola devices. Unfortunately, he is pretty sour on the Android community right now due to a lack of appreciation and understanding of the work he has done already.
Sorry to not have a better answer but I definitely do not recommend attempting to flash an SBF for M2 to an MX2.
I would try some device specific root options like ROTA893 for the Bionic. The newest ota update for them can't be rooted with normal Zergrush. ROTA893 is just a patched version of zerg though.

Hey CellZealot,
Thanks for taking a moment to chime in. I'll try to reach out to djrbliss to enlist his help. I'm all too familiar with how thankless a job working in tech can be, so I'll be careful to be respectful of his time and send him a donation if he'll have it. Speaking of which, how do I get that coffee to you that I promised?

[Q] Help getting to neutrino ROM??

Just order a new atrix 4G. I have looked at the possible ROM's to use and I want to try out the Neutrino ROM. I have rooted devices before but I am new to Motorola devices. Please help me find the CURRENT steps I need to take to get to be able to run the Neutrino ROM? I have used the search bar but a lot of the threads that I have found contain links that are no longer valid. Such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154600 Also I read a this link http://www.xda-developers.com/tag/motorola-atrix-4g/ which has me a worried that I may end up having an issue because all of the guides or seem to have been written before May 15th.
Thanks for taking a look and sorry if that was a little confusing I just didn't want to get flammed for being lazy. In the end I just want to know the most up to date way to get to the Neutrino ROM?? Below I will have included the specs. If I need to post anthing else please let me know
I recieved my phone last night and set it up on Striaght Talk.
System version: 45.31.0.MB860.AsiaRetail.en.03
Model Number: MB860
Android Version: 2.3.4
Your help is GREATLY APPRIECIATED!!
Also on the youTube videos they all seem to say "DO NOT DO TRY TO UNLOCK OR ROOT IF YOU HAVE 2.3.4 OR IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!!"
Is this still the case or has there been a work around for it yet??
you have to unlock bootloader, but you can get FAIL with last step.
If you will get fail - don't worry, you can still unlock it via fastboot (tested on mine INTL Atrix, but every phone is a little bit different)
flash recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flash rom, flash gapps. Done
Thanks ovitz. Can you point me to a thread describing how to unlock the bootloader on this phone?? I can do all the other stuff that you said I need to do after the bootloader is unlocked(clearing and flashing). Just really dont want to mess up my phone. I got 2 actually one for my girlfriend as well. I have java and all SDK/ADB and all programs that I may need. Just want a step by step for comfort.
Is the search not working for you?
http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/1136261/
The thread is sticky even.
DISCLAIMER: I used this to unlock the BL on my Atrix, but mine is an older one, dating back to around Feb 2011. I do not know if this still works on brand new devices, however I am not aware of any other way to unlock (there probably isn't any other way really).
What is the other way (not using fastboot) to unlock this bootloader?? I tried fastboot oem unlock and got this message "INFOOEM unlock is not implemented"
Do I need to use an SBF with RSDlite or something to make this possible? If so please point me in the direction of that thread!?!
Thanks for anyone that can help

Sorry ravilov...Did not see your post as I had started a post and then ventured off to seach XDA and some other forums again as well. I have gotten to the link that you posted several times. I just saw that is was posted a long time ago and that there is a lot of things in that post that dont make too much sense to me.
First it says "All phones If you have unlocked then try to use 2.3.4 update zip from Motorola servers, then revert back to a "pre-unlock" version(1.8.3 or earlier on ATT) you will get bricked! Do not use the OTA via experimental servers and revert to older versions WITHOUT pudding preinstalled in your sbf. ATT ONLY Get your 1.8.3 with pudding from the pudding/unlocker section below."
Then shortly after is says "Disclaimer: Tested on 1.8.3 and 2.3.4 using sbf_flash and RSDLITE 5.3.1 or higher, usual warnings being responsible for your own actions yada yada"
So I dont really know if it works or not on the newer atrix's. I dont want to brick a brand new phone and I would just like to see that some one else has done it recently. So yes my eyes are open and search did work for me if you did not see the 2 other threads I mentioned. I just want something up to date, not from early 2011. If it can be confirmed that this works or If you know someone who has unlocked it recently, that would be great to hear from them.
Thanks for posting the link to that thread anyways though. Much apprieciated!
Can anyone tell me if the IHOP method to unlock bootloader will work with my phone?? I cant post in that thread because I do not have enough posts. Here are my specs so I could get some help with which patch to use with RSDlite.
System version: 45.31.0.MB860.AsiaRetail.en.03
Model number: MB860
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: N_01.100.00R
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
[email protected] #3
APflex version: GAS_ASIA_USAOLYGBSEART_P011
GAS_ASIA_USAOLYGBSEART_A003
GAS_ASIA_USAOLEMSEARET_M001
Build number: 4.5.2A-74_OLE-31
Something else I want to note is that it was bought on ebay as unlocked so I am assuming that is the radio. When I set up the APN for straight talk it did have the choices for AT&T US, AT&T US HSDPA, AT&T US Tether, AT&T US MMS. So this is why I am a little confused/scared as to which piece of pudding to use. It looks easy enough to unlock and clear the caches and flash the ROM I will want to use. Just would like to know which one to use.
Please, please somebody help!!:fingers-crossed:
Thanks you for taking a look to help. Much apprieciated!!!
For a phone with the Asia Retail firmware, you'll want to use RSD Lite to flash the IHOP SBF. Your phone will likely enter a soft brick as stated above, just proceed with the unlock commands in fastboot from the error screen.
Since its an international phone, if you don't load a new ROM soon after unlocking then you'll need to flash the "RAMfix" from the Development section here. Most ROMs have that built in to the kernel, though, so it's not needed if you're going directly to a ROM.
In case you need it in the future, you might want to locate your stock SBF for Asia Retail and keep it on hand. If you see the Atrix Firmware Superthread in the Dev section, find the later Page that has new links to updated download sites. It's a post with a link to all Gingerbread firmwares and a link to all Froyo firmwares. Yours will have "searet" in the name. Make sure it's the same version, 2.3.4. Flashing anything older will brick you.
Good luck!

Quite welcome.
APNs are usually set by your SIM, if it's provisioned properly and the phone supports it.

Good to know About the APNs. Just to let you know I unlocked, rooted, and flashed the ROM the day you first replied. So I've been running with a new ROM for 3 days and the battery life is great!!
If anyone out there has installed the Neutrino ROM, I have one more question. On the Neurino ROM page it say to do these 2 steps:
"Then, after booting, click on script manager, navigate to /system/etc and run NitroCharger.sh as ROOT and at BOOT!
It is also HIGHLY recommended to download the GPS Mod found in #2. Then you're done."
I tried flashing the GPS mod but I keep gettng an error. Then on my first boot I tried going to /system/etc and from there I do not know where to locate NitroCharger to run it for either. Any help on these two issues would be great!! Also another thanks for everyone for taking a look and helping.
I would post in that thread but I still dont have enought posts.
You really need to reread the original Neutrino thread, since all of this has been answered countless times.
YOU DO NOT FLASH THE GPS MOD DIRECTLY. Open the ZIP and read the instructions.
NitroCharger is only available as an OTA update, but you might reconsider if you really want it since it's been known to cause issues.
Again, I know the thread is very large, but whatever questions or issues you might have, it's very likely answered there already.
Thanks you for just answering, even though you think I should just reread the thread. That answered my questions very fast. I will just not run Nitrocharger, I thought it may casue problems if I could not get it to run, instead you said it is the opposite. As for the GPS mod I just did open up the .zip and read the readme. I pulled out the United_States.zip
Can I just use CWM recovery to flash the US.zip now or do I have to clear all my caches and the likes beforehand?
I know your very busy and I apprieciate the time you take to just look at it.
I have just started my own business and it is going great!! but I have been working 14+ hour days with usually 9 hours hour doing very hard physical labor 6 days a week!! I need to hire more employees soon, lol. I read the whole IHOP thread from front to back and the Neutrino thread but I was very exhasted and stayed up until 330 in the morning doing it!! So again I thank you for taking your time I appriciate it very MUCH that you are helping me to have a fun android experiance and also to learn something new to me!!
Yes, you can just go ahead and flash United_States.zip. No need to clear anything.
Awesome your the MAN!! Thanks again  :good:

[Q] How to update do ICS? (special case)

Hi guys, I'm new with the Android system, so please, sorry for being noob. Well, I just bought an Droid Razr (20 days ago) in Amazon, the GSM international version for use in Brazil, and it came with Android 2.3.6, and after reading about ICS, obviously I want to update my phone. The problem is, Motorola doesn't offers me the OTA update (and not through the menu about phone etc). My sister has the same phone and bought it here and she already received the OTA update to ICS. I'm freaking out here, I searched a lot of things, but don't know what to do. My phone system version is: 651.167.21.XT910.Retail.en.EU. Thanks for the attention

In pretty much the same situation as yourself, just bought a Razr Maxx here in the UK today from P4U. It is running 2.3.6 currently and have tried both over the air and through the Moto desktop software but to no avail.
I am on 651.167.26.XT910.Retail.en.EU.
Help anyone?
Same problem, UK retail wont upgrade to ics, emailed moto and they asked if I had rooted, havent so emailed back saying so and no reply yet, starting to wish id gone Samsung, had similar problem on my defy, i'm tempted to root but cant find any stable jelly bean roms (anyone?) also woould like to delete the need for speed demo that never even worked, also is this phone 4g capable? or is that just in the us?
Good to hear that is not only with me. I also tried with Moto Update Software and nothing. I can't find any official Motorola ROM to try to install also
Anybody? UP
Still a no!!! This is slightly silly and can't be good PR for Moto.
Right, so I got a little bored and went and did the flashing on RDS lite.
Its actually very simple to do it and took about 30 mins in all.
You can get the generic .xml file from here http://www.droidevelopers.com/showthread.php?13330-Download-RAZR-XT910-Stock-4-0-4-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-fastboot-XML
Then just extract so you can get the .xml file.
Easy enough to do and with 5 mins I got another update which I presume is a fix for some of the bugs.
Just a little proof here. Heres a screen grab of my newly updated phone.

Yesterday I tried the Razrguy video on youtube and it didn't work. But I learned how to load flashboots on my device. So the flashboot you posted, will it work on my device? It's running the 651.167.26.XT910.Retail.en.EU
I just have to use the RSD light to flash it on my device? There's no problem to loading it on gingerbread?
I can't possibly see why it wouldn't work on your device. I was using RSD on windows 7. Like i say fairly simple process.
Oh and no i didn't root or unlock any bootloaders.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
sorry probably sound stupid, but when i unzip the file to extract the .xml its tiny, do i just leave this in its directery and point rsd lite at it?
I made a new folder on my desktop and extracted to there then point RSD to that .xml in the folder.
