Which ROM to use? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently using Lite'ning ROM and since the developer went MIA I'm thinking of changing to another ROM. I tried ToxicROM but dislike it due to various reasons...
One of the reasons why I wanna change is because my SGS2 often hang / restart / lag kinda problems which seriously annoys me..

Try one of the needs new stock roms.

Try = Install one of the latest/newest STOCK Samsung ROMs like KL1
That was the advice given .
Read the rom descriptions in the custom roms sections and decide what you want is another choice ,

I'm not a big fan of the stock ROM.

Go for CriskeloRom or CheckRom RevoHD. In my opinio, they are one of the best ROMs.
Hope this helps

I'm using CheckROM v4 with siyah kernel v 2.4.2.. My phone is very smooth, with good battery life and stability... I use this kernel only for bln, because the phone is good even with default settings..you can also try speedmod...
Hope this helps!

Read the first page of the thread for the kernel you want to try. That will tell you which roms it's compatible with.
No suggestions. Reasons being you use your phone differently to everyone else, have it set up differently & no two phones come out of the factory the same. So you won't have exactly the same experience as me with a given rom or kernel. Also, many people who are users of a particular rom or kernel end up being total fanboys, rendering their opinion on same biased/meaningless.
So...Try out a bunch of roms/kernels until you find one you like. With CWM, it's so easy to backup/restore & flash roms/kernels there's no excuse for you not trying a bunch out for yourself.
Thanks man

Don't know why people using omega rom...all is stock except some modding
Stock ROMs. Period.
No custom ROMs are more stable and offer more compatibility than the stock ROMs.

Hi all, (this is my first thread)
I wanted to ask a couple of questions about which I am confused...
I am currently running stock 4.1.1 on rooted international galaxy s3..
Q1. Is there anyway I can get 4.1.2 OTA Without unrooting?
Q2. I am not sure whether the country I bought my phone from has got the update yet... So is there anyway I can check that...
P.S I got my phone from dubai..
But I live in India...
Thanks.

Give a try to the temporary unroot option in the superuser app...
Not guaranteed to work...
Download stock rom through sammobile.com and flash through odin only...

If you already have CWM recovery why not use CWM to flash a custom 4.1.2 rom thats based on Stock firmware (like Android Revolution HD)?
Thats just as easy, has more support, rooted and you'll have future updates faster as well.
I already downloaded omega v34 but didn't flash it because people have lot of issues with it.. Lag, random reboot etc. Stock rom will be more stable I guess..
I haven't tried revolution though...
I'll try it now..
Any other rom you recommend?
Thanks!

I had the same experience, Omega had loads of launcher redraws and sudden lag. No such experience on ARHD with Perseus kernel. That kernel now even has the exynos exploit fixed.
Nope, all other roms i've tried i never used more then a few hours.
Can you give me a link to the ARHD page?
Thanks!

Yeah, everytime you flash the stock image, you'll have to root the phone again... but so what?? I have my mobile sine 8 weeks and i think i flashed it 10times now, and lots of custom-rom installations, configuring the phone etc....
It's not a hard work, you just have to read carefully BEFORE you start rooting, modding or whatever. This forum is awesome and till now i really found an answer to my questions everytime without bothering the ither guys with a question that is already answered a thousand times just have to use the search... so, good luck and have fun with your rooted mobile. By the way, i recommend the Omega-ROM for galaxy S2 and S3, the guys are.doing a great job with their ROMs. If you own a S3 LTE (i9305) i recommend the Pandoriam ROM, works best for me
Best regards

Haha.. Thanks buddy.
Btw, I am not new to rooting, I have flashed at least 15 rom's on my old phone(galaxy ace)
But I was not a member of XDA then.. I just used to read....
But since s3 is much more expensive I wanted to be absolutely clear about the smallest of things...
Because with great power comes great responsibility.

[Q] Help with new Rom

Phone model: Galaxy SII - I9100
PDA : I9100XXMS1
Phone : I9100XXLS8
CSC : I9100OXAMS1
Hi, I recently updated to jelly bean. Rooted with siyah kernal 3.0.31, currecntly using stock ROM. I want to try new ROMs. There are to many to choose from. Please suggest me a ROM with good features and good performance. I been hearing that GALAXY S II is vulnerable to hard brick. So I am worried and hesitant to try ROMs. Please help me with it. Thanks in Advance.
Re:
Stop posting "What is a good ROM for me to try?"
Read the rules!
For your question, I don't know, I have stock ROM and I have my reasons for not changing, it has nothing to do with hard/soft brick. So just go through different posts and find a ROM that you would like. Follow the instructions and you will get there as long as you do it properly. You either do it or you don't, simple as.
I am completely not responsible if your phone bricks, sticks, flicks or explodes.
What do you want from a rom? Wich mods?
The only answer is to go in the rom's topic and see the features, mods ecc. Choose one that you like, and flash it. And if you don't like it, try another
I tried a lot of rom, now i'm on rootbox rom and i love it
Just try
Thanks for the reply. I am gud to try different roms. I wanted to try cynacogenmod rom. I read there is a chance of hardbrick wen done with stock rom. So little hesitant to tey. Anyway thanks again. I will check and try new roms.
