probably u have the standard kernel and no custom kernel with clockwork mod on your phone. "install from zip" is only supported in cwm

To install a ROM you MUST read the instructions in the thread where you got it. It's not just 1 procedure for all different ROMs.
Seriously, if you've not read the installation instructions in the ROM thread, DO NOT try and install it!!!
Try to understand ,,my English its not good enough..
Also ,,i never have a Galaxy before (only HTc phones) and flasing and root its totaly diferent then Htc....so because of that i need help.

No, complete backup can be done only via CWM recovery. You can try mounting system first and then backup again. If that doesn't work then try re-flashing the rom and using stable version of CWM recovery (v4.0.0.9)
Make sure you have enough free space on your SD card. 300MB-1GB
Depends on the ROM you are using and no. of system apps and other stuff.

Use CWM recovery v4.0.0.9 or 5.0.2.6. It has worked for me.

Hey my brother's sd card slot has stopped working nd it still is under warranty , but the phone is rooted wat should i do if i have to give to service under the warranty ........

If you are still on stock rom, just unroot it. If you also have installed another recovery like cwm, flash original recovery too. If I remember correctly you can find it in original android development section, thread is called something like flashable recovery.

5380I cwm not recognising sd-ext

I'm looking at installing cronomod unofficial script to free up internal memory.currently using link2sd and have 3gb ext 3 partition on 32gb card. I have razodroid 2.5 with the September version of Rafael kernel that came with it. I can see the ext 3 partition on root explorer. Cwm won't let me mount it to follow the instructions on the modified chronomod thread.I used the version of cwm on the thread.I looked on the net and there were no answers relating to acei.

Working now with simplicityve final. Tried flashing ace cream 1.4 and it worked with that. Then changed to simplicity and its working well with Rafael #1 included with ace cream and cronomod modified.

I have the same problem !!! I tied 3 different roms but still can't recognize sd-ext !
I tried all roms
Ace cream d only shows sd-ext
I think if u have any files in sd-ext folder
Try creating different mount scripts with link2sd

Its the kernel. Someone on the unofficial cronomod thread suggested using a kernel with cwm in it. Ace cream has one in it. In addition you need to set the sd-ext as primary I also forgot to do that in one of my many reformats trying to get this going

Okey but is there any way to be done with other rom, i'm with razodroid and want to stay with it !

Just noticed this post. You've probably got it sorted by now but thought I would answer in case you hadn't.
Take a backup of your razodroid with cwm.
If you flash ace cream 1.3 it will give you a rafael kernel with built in cwm. The cwm in the latest rafael kernel (or hell lock kernel's version) won't recognise my sd-ext either.
The version in acecream 1.3 recognised my sd-ext and I then restored the backup which doesn't touch the kernel but would replace razodroid for you.

You must have partitioned sdcard for sd-ext
