[Q] Pit file for Galaxy player 4.0 (YP-GB1) 16Gb Korean version - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

TT.TT today, I somehow bricked my galaxy player...Can anyone please try to upload the Pit file..
Here is how to do it:
1. Download Heimdall Suite
2. Open "heimdall-frontend"
if you encounter errors in windows, you need to install the zadig libusb driver. 3. Remember to "show all" from the menu in the program.
4. Put your device in Download mode
5. Click the Utilities tab
6. select an output filename. The file should always end with a "pit" I'd recommend something descriptive. eg..
GalaxyPlayer4.0-16G.pit, or G70-GalaxyPlayer5.0-8gig.pit
7. upload that file to mediafire
upload it to mediafire
TT.TT
Check on this for more information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389873
thanks

yup...I saved my ROM before re-partitioned it ...>< what is your version? Mine is Galaxy player 4.0 16Gb?
I will upload it, and post it here as long as I am done.

I sent you the link via inbox. The forum didn't let me post the link.
After restoring the ROM, can me do me a favor? TT.TT follow the 1st post and upload the PIT file.....I will be really really appreciate it.
Thanks

I got the PIT file. But, what to do next? TT.TT any idea?

Sorry I answer so late, but I wasn't able to make it work. I think I also need pit file, because when I bricked my device I used a pit file from US version.
If you have the pit file you can use Odin to write the ROM
Regards.

I see I am not only guy having crashed their original PIt file. (sad)
I see a group of XDA expert working on that but I am not allowed to post because I am beginner.
I have seen many post about PITs file availability but no one about the 32Gb version i am looking for.
I have already tested many of them with different FW without big success, the best is to reach the Galaxy player logo after the boot signal. I seems it is a lack of space may be because i use the 16Gb version.( all wipes done)
I read that the original PIT is present in every FW, how can we extract it from there in order to replace the wrong we are using?
Can you adress my request to some expert if not boring.

Does Kies store downloaded Firmware on HDD?

Hi guys, does Kies store downloaded firmware on hard diisk or can i put a firmware somewhere on the hdd so that kies can detect it.. Disconnects at some point while downloading firmware and hv to restart download..
does Kies store downloaded firmware on hard disk
Yes in TEMP folder for about 30 seconds before it starts to install .
can i put a firmware somewhere on the hdd so that kies can detect it
Worth a try from memory its either the temp folder on root of C drive or a new TEMP folder on C drive ..
Really clever users use Odin to flash stock firmware .
Also check the Check Fus thread and original carrier branded post in dev section.

Kies nowadays pre-downloads your firmware, and stores it there... so it definitely stays longer than 30 secs, no hurry there mate ;-)

You actually checked that as last time i checked Kies downloads yes to temp folder file can be copied . Once update starts file has gone .
Possible later Kies holds the download longer .
Big advantage if it does stay long enough to copy but in the past if you have not grabbed before update starts its gone .

What KIES does nowadays: it checks for updates for your phone, even when it is not connected; When it finds an update, it will download it, and give you a pop-up stating there's new firmware for your phone...
Most likely the firmware still gets deleted after updating, but then again: who needs the firmware after a succeeded update ;-) I can't test this for my self, since I'm a custom-rom user...
ps) it might be that I've checked some box somewhere in the past, enabling KIES to do this...
Thats good likewise i cannot use Kies .

Just out of curiosity, I decided to check where does Kies store the Firmware in Windows XP. So, here's the path:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Temp\Binary\GT-I9100
A side question. The firmware file stays there with no extension. Even if I try to rename it to .tar or .zip it cannot be opened. Is there some simple way to "extract" the firmware file from its storage place?
I cannot find the .....binary directory

I cannot find the directory noted in the quote above. I have a folder named: C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\KiesLiveupdateTemp
In it is only a file named PlugInHost.XML which contains the following text:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <PluginHost>
- <Hdr>
<Status>300</Status>
</Hdr>
- <Req>
<Region>US</Region>
<SDKVersion>2.3.2.12064_10</SDKVersion>
<Mode>A</Mode>
</Req>
- <Resp>
<Region />
<SDKVersion />
<Url />
<ByForce />
<Desc />
</Resp>
</PluginHost>
So where is the file that contains the upgrade to ICS?
Same here. I am on window 8. All I have is pluginHost.xml under the kiesliveupdatetemp folder. I just updated by GT-8013 via Kies. Could not locate the actual firmware files.

Actually i find the downloaded file here:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp9A2D.tmp.zipfolder\I9505XXUAME2_I9505OXXAMDB_I9505XXUAME2_HOME.tar.md5
And pretty sure this is the right file, you can open it using 7-zip and see the files inside like boot.img etc....

That's nice and all but why go through all this hassle? Flashing that file(which you can manually download faster than through the Kies downloader) through Odin gets it done faster and better, and it wouldn't even void warranty.

May be my reply is too late.
I found an answer somewhere in XDA forum and tried it.
I found tmp file in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\
it is like tmp9A2D.tmp ( ranging file size from 200 MB to 900 MB depend on HP and FW type)
it is unpacked into a zip folder with exactly same name as tmp file in same location during update.
when hp is connected to PC in "download mode" Kies unpack tmp file and transfer to HP and upgrade it.
I did manage to copy zip folder before if finish upgrading process.
keep an eye on status windows, let it finish unpacking, copy zip folder once it start transferring it to UP , it show green arrow directing from PC to HP showing percentage of work done.
folder is deleted automatically once upgrade process finish
Good luck

YOU are right, it is the one. Only thing is that is is availabe for a few minutes only while Kies is transferring those files and upgrade HP. the whole folder is deleted after that.
you can copy that folder and save somewhere in HDD for future use.

I know this is an old post, but where can you download a firmware manually faster than Kies can? Kies downloads it in minutes . Sammobile, for free accounts, takes hours.

There is no other way to download firmware manually faster than kies unless someone uploads the files onto a different mirror.
So, some of you gave some paths where the ROM downloaded by Kies can be found. But does somebody know the format of this file?
Then, If I can locate and copy this file, can I use it in order to upgrade my smartphone without re-download it?
I mean, I have several device I would like to upgrade and I don't want to download the upgrade for all of them, as they are exactly the same device. I know I could do it via Odin but for personnal reason, I don't want to use Odin.
Thanks
BEST way to accomplish your goal is thru Odin, dude, Kies is mostly the "end-user" photo-mp3 transfer software. AFAIK there is NO way to transfer the firmware from one Kies instance to another, it gets stored in a randomly named .tmp folder and is deleted after use. IDK about original file format, I grabbed a copy of mine after Kies extracted what it DL'ed and it was in .tar format.

Did you download the entire package ? it may happen if the download got interrupted mid way ......... in that case you'd have a zip file of a lesser size which can't be opened ....... try extracting the zip if you get an error you've got to redownload the package....
also ensure that the package is not read only (just incase)

ok... package is not read-only... it's -rw... so it's good....
how do i check the md5 checksum in multiupload?
i m downloading the latest version now... hope it wont get disconnected...
Find an app like MD5Summer (Windoze) to check the MD5 sum once you've downloaded the package.
Also, you can use pretty much any archive program (7Zip, IZArc, WinRar) to test the archive once you've finished downloading it.
If it comes up with fail for *any* file, don't flash that package/download it again. You might have to try downloading it from a different PC/internet connection like I did a while back when I was having probs downloading roms from home without them being corrupt.

ok i will try to download using another pc..
You have to finish downloading the rom/package before you can check the MD5 sum as there's nothing to check if you haven't downloaded it (obviously)

yes i know... what i meant was,... is there like a website that tells me the md5 cs in multiupload, so i can compare to the one that i had just finished downloading...
anyway.... thanks to the above poster.. i deleted it from my phone and then transferred the file again... and now it works.... weird,... i transferred first to my microsd, then to phone... i guess that method doesnt work... better to transfer it directly to phone...
thanks y'all!!! been a great help... very nice community here
The MD5 checksum is usually listed next to the link where you download the archive wherever you're downloading it from. Honestly, it's not that important. The most important thing is you get the entire file. And if you "test" the archive in 7Zip/IZArc/WinRar & it comes up all files OK you should be fine.
I've never had a problem flashing a rom/kernel where the test in IZArc has indicated all files contained within are OK/the archive isn't corrupt.

ic.... oh well.. thanks anyway .... ohh 1 last question.. so if i want to revert to the stock rom, i just do the same thing but with the stock rom i can download from samfirmware?
Why not download the stock rom from here ? I wouldn't know about files from Samfirmware as I've never downloaded anything from there.
If you want to go back to stock, download the rom from Intratech's thread, flash it in Odin, done. Again, test the archive integrity in IZarc or similar to make sure it's OK (given you seemed to have had some problems downloading an archive that wasn't whole or corrupted).

[Q] No OS installed on my Tab. Need Help PLS.

I tried to install a custom rom yesterday. Unluckily I treid to do it quickly before leaving the house. I rooted my tab, then copied the custom rom file and the Gapps file to my internal storage card and also installed a newer CWM version. At some point I must have formated my entire Date because there are no files left on my internal storage card. The tab goes up to the Samsung Logo and that's it. I'm guessing that there is no OS installed on the device. (Galaxy Tab 10.1n 3G - GT-P7501)
Now to my questions:
How can I copy the ROM File to the internal storage card using odin or any other programm? I can go into the download mode and I can start CWM.
Do I have to install anything else or should the Rom be enough?
I read somewhere, that I should copy the PIT File to my tab but I can't find the file anywhere!
After spending the last 4 hours looking for answers and a solution I hope that someone here can help.

You can't use odin to copy a file to your device and the mount sd-card option in CWM has never worked for me.
What you need to do is flash a stock odin file with its pit file and then you can reroot and reflash CWM.
Put the rom and gapps on your tab,
and hopefully then you can flash the rom everything will work correctly.
Here is a link to the odin tar file I use: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3mpm0lez9ikbzvf/Stock-3.2-HTJ85B.UEKMM.tar
You can find a tutorial for flashing this on XDA somewhere.
Thank you so much!!
It didn't work at first but after taking the tab out of the docking station and changing the usb port it finally flashed everything without hanging at the bin file. i will try to install a custom rom now.
thanks again!

No problem! I'm just glad it all worked out for you!
I am facing same problem but with TWRP recovery mode. I wiped out sdcard and all data. I am using P7500 tab. Can you help me through the process. All I can do it right now is go it recovery mode, nothing else.
well, just do what highriser posted, download odin, download a tar file that represents a Gtab ROM and flash it to your tab using download mode. As I am at work I can not provide you with links to the files (as online storage is blocked by our IT Security).
Check this thread and pay attention to the "UNROOTING & RESTORING STOCK RECOVERY" part.

Backup odin flashable firmware through Kies

So today i was updating my S3 to 4.1.2 update and in the process i thought of checking where it downloads the firmware. It downloads in the c:\users\[user]\appdata\local\temp
here it downloads as a file with .tmp extension. Keep pressing F5 and the file whose size is changing is that firmware file. Then after download it extracts the file to a zipfolder. Inside there's a md5 file which is around 1.24gb for me. This is the odin flashable file and you must back it up before the Kies is able to complete the updation process as after it has completed it will delete the file. The main aim of this is because as i dont have a hotfile premium account i cant download from sammobile as the file always stops in between. With this method you can easily backup your firmware for the next time.
