[Q] little help - HTC EVO 3D

i come from sgs2 , 2 days ago i bought evo3D, and i didnt root or change something from stock version , and now my phone keep restarting , i guess from what i know from my sgs2 framework doesnt work or its buggy ..
anyone have any explonation
(sorry about my english )

Make sure the matter is completely in place... On mine there was a small enough space between the pins and terminals to cause reboots so I shoved a card behind the battery and no more reboots

If you have not rooted anything if it's not a hardware issue like thatguy11285 suggests. I would try a factory reset and see if there was some type of software that was causing the issue. Maybe a specific app? Who knows. But that should cover hardware and software related issues.

Probably a defective device. I had a similar problem. I exchanged my original Evo 3D with a new one within 15 days of purchase. The new one works fine.

Try and boot into safe mode and see if it keeps rebooting if it does I'd guess a replacement is needed.

As a generally disclaimer, "random" issues can be the most difficult to solve as thre isnt an known reliable method to trigger the issue which makes troubleshooting much more difficult.
Nothing very technical was posted as not sure your technical ability to investigate issues with the device.
If you revert back to stock kernel and recovery and remove all 3rd party apps, there should be no random rebooting. If there is, it would point to a possible hardware issue.
There are many things which in theory can cause a random reboot. They range from poorly developed 3rd party apps to custom kernels/ROMs. The process can be very difficult to narrow down.
If you're technically inclined, after the reboot, you can grab the file /proc/last_kmsg and the last portion of the file should provide some kind of helpful insight. Should point to either the issue being kernel related or not kernel related which will at least eliminate one of the possible cuases.
Another approach is to revert back to stock and start installing 3rd party apps in sets. Once the reboot occurs, you've narrowed it down to a set of specific 3rd party apps.
Hope that helps!

did you try 2.17 on them?
My guess is if both are doing it gotta be a app you have running on both phones . Since if you rooted correctly and are flashing the proper way.

EVO 3D with a mind of its own

Hey whats up everyone. Ok long story short, I got the evo3d the first day it came out. Also rooted it with the first solution and never installed a custom rom for a while. Now a while back I started experiencing problems like when i touch a number key it either presses another, or sometimes enters it twice. It basically is making the phone impossible to use. I then figured maybe it had something to do with the original rom and the phone being rooted. So I then installed ViperRom as so many people have good things to say about it. The rom worked good for about a week or so and then the problem came back with the buttons just having a mind of its own. Now sometimes it will work with no issues for hours on end, and sometimes it just goes beserk from the get go. If anyone has experienced this and can please suggest something as Im ready to just call it in lost and have them send me a new one but if I can fix it I would much prefer that as I plan on just having it flashed to boost anyways since I've never used the 4g since the day ive gotten the phone.
Thanks in advance
Frankie
I had this problem with another phone and I reinstalled my keyboard, because that's what was causing it.

It sounds like you've got issues with your digitizer. The only sure fix is to get a replacement.
response
Do you think maybe just trying to flash it back to stock would resolve the issue or possibly trying another rom? It happens so sporadic and only started after I rooted the phone. Also, to the poster above how do you reinstall your keyboard?

You can try to return to stock/unrooted and see if you can repeat the issue. And I didn't mean reinstall the keyboard, the digitizer is part of the touch screen assembly, so if you can repeat the problem for a sprint rep, they may give you a new/replacement phone.
Flashing back to stock, flipping kernels etc... Didn't fix mine. I had to get 2 of these 3d's until the 3rd finally worked. It's the digitizer.

Galaxy S III Not responding

Hi everyone,
i don't know if someone already encountered this but sometimes my GS3 does not respond when i try to wake him up. (it's not turned off just standby). The screen stays black en nothing works. One time the screen did woke up but i couldn't unlock it because the touchscreen didnt work. It could not be turned off and the buttons didn't do anything! The only way for me to get out of this was a battery pull!
I did not root or modify anything on this phone because i like the stock samsung TW for the first time .
Did anyone else have this problem? And how did u solve this? Thank u.
Possibly due to an app you have installed.

Thank u i didn't thought of that. Is their an easy way to find out wich app this could cause? I still find it very weird. If an app is not compatible than it just shouldnt install intead of breakin the phone right? XD
This happened me last night as well. Couldn't do anything other than turn the phone off, and when it came back on it was fine again.
Unrooted as well. Would like to find out how I can prevent this from happening again?
if you are not sure about the root cause of the problem better factory reset your mobile

Yes, if it happens again than i will try that. But i already sent the unit back from were i ordered it. They will send me a new one because its their policy to send a new one if something happens in 2 weeks.
So i will see if it still occurs with the new one otherwise its one of my apps. Than i will install only a few apps and see what causes it. If it doesnt occur one more thime than the unit was faulty. Ill keep u guys updated.

Did it happen once? My phone had it like 3 times so thats why i sent it back. But if it still occurs with my new phone than it must be one of the apps i got Luckily they got DOA policy. I asked if it includes ''the phone does not work as it should" and they said yes send it back u will get a new one yaay but now i have no phone
I had this. After a hard reset, multiple times, and configuring with no accounts (no samsaung account, no google, nothing), it still happened. I ended up returning the phone and I've not had a single problem since.
I think it was either faulty memory or a dodgy firmware flash (more likely). Either way, I didn't care to find out and now it's all good.

[Q] Unknown Battery Status

Hi im having a strange issue with my evo 3d.Im using fully stock everything and have never unlocked phone.
I had this issue on both 2.3 and 4.0.3 stock roms.
At first my evo started to shutting down and when i open it i see a gray battery icon.I read something about kernel patch but
i didnt want to lose warranty and send it to technical service. They changed my battery and gave evo to me back.
I used like 1 month without any problem but after 1 month the problem started again and i sent again.
They replaced motherboard this time. But after 2 weeks this thing started to happen again. What should i do ?
They have replaced my motherboard so i cannot even unlock my bootloader.
When i open the battery widget it gives this information Battery status:Unknown.
Sorry about my bad language
It sounds like your battery contacts in the phone along with the hardware that reads the battery stats and displays it on you screen is corrupt. The fact that you have been from gb to ics and had battery and motherboard replaced narrowed it down. Sadly there doesn't seem to be solution unless someone on here is good with fixing hardware. But even then you may not be able to do repair it yourself even if they gave you a guide on how to. Also unlocking your bootloader probably will not fix your problem due to the fact they replaced your board. My suggestion for you is to take it to a repair shop not sprint and explain them your situation and what has been done to it so far. If you don't care about rooting that is. However if you do then your screwed. Then in that case make a claim with asurion and tell them your phone is defective and say that the techs could not fix the problem and wish to get a replacement. Sorry I couldn't help you bro.
Well , all I can suggest is doing a factory reset, a hard factory reset, how long does a battery last? and is the replacement battery a HTC or an after market battery
(My evil evo is snake bitten by venom sense 4.1 rom and also infected with THE kernel, don't ask me for help, as I couldn't care less if you phone explodes)
I was thinking a bad battery, but I find it interesting that it reports the charge remaining to that widget. Still, I'd try a different battery if possible to rule that out (assuming the techs haven't already tried it).

I've already tried factory reset(sorry ive forgotten to mention it.)I resetted it from bootloader so it means hard reset?Battery lasts 2 days.Im playing dead trigger every day about 30 mins.
They replaced stock battery with original stock one.
I understood that i should try my chance again with warranty i hope they completely replace my phone
Have you cleaned the contacts with rubbing alcohol, both on your battery and the phone contacts?
(don't ask me for help, as I couldn't care less if you phone explodes)
Could be the rom itself try a reflash of a different rom

[Q] How you fixed your random reboots.?

Hi all, i want to know methods how different people saved this issue on amaze, i have but i cant fix it i tried different methods, but all that help only for some time. I opened this thread for other people(i think many people experience this problem) for finding the fix. Thanks for reading and answering.
There is no way to answer such a general question like this with such limited detail. There are so many things that can cause random reboots: bad battery, problem with an app, rom, kernel, etc. How r we suppose to be able to know what is causing your reboots, you didn't even say what your phone's current setup is: unlocked/locked, custom rom/stock, cust kernel/stock, etc.
A lot of amaze owners have had problems with battery going bad and random reboots being one of the issues. So that may be one thing to try. Good luck

Problem solved
Nobody with any knowledge is having random reboots. Its usually the people who flashed a ROM incorrectly, is using an unstable ROM build, over/under clocked their CPU too much or under volted their CPU too much. I never once had a random reboot that i didnt provoke (which means it wasn't random) unless I was using an unstable ROM.

Now i went back to stock, but i am experiencing the same problem but less 2-3 times a day.i have enough knowledge about flashing modding, i had 6 android phones before this one, but this problem i cant fix in no way. i am using now stock ics, the CPU isnt over or underclocked and i didnt flashed any mods. pure official rom with some 5-6 apps, i am trying to understand maybe it is from apps.
Battery caused my randoms. Anker took care of it. Or you can opt for OEM but most likely happen again.

I'll try, thanks for answer yall. But after returning to stock i am only having reboots at nearly 20%, and it is like phone trying to confidure, to calibrate its battery, it is rebooting 2 times, it shows 5% and there are no more reboots. I tried to calibrate no help. Ill try to bye anker battery, not to change and i cant buy in armenia, there is no htc shop or centre, but what if i put sensation battery? Because, the choice for sensation is bigger.

OK, I THINK I MIGHT HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION!!!!!!!
I bought an Anker battery. After a while, it will start doing the random reboot things. The cool thing is, the Anker batteries come with an external charger. If I take the battery out of the phone and use the charger, it seems to "reset" the battery so it works fine for a while.
I'm startting to think there is an issue with the charging system on the phone - who knows.
thank!!!

One Quick Solution
Okay so this is just one quick solution for those specific people out there that have had random reboots on EVERY ROM they try. A good friend of mine had constant reboots even on modified stock ROMs like Revolution HD which I have never had rebooting issues. We noticed the battery was easily removed when taking off the backing so we inserted a paper index card on the bottom to decrease the gap and make the fit slightly tighter. We just cut an index card to about the size of an inch in length and the same width as the battery compartment and then folded it in an L shape inserted it in the bottom of the battery slot and his phone has seen nearly 0 reboots since doing this. Seems like a dumb issue but it is worth a try especially if your Amaze has taken some physical abuse.
Still having problems. No idea what to try anymore. Might have to bite the bullet and get another phone. Never again HTC.

Wife had the same problems...
a little background of her Amaze issues:
- tmobile stock ICS ROM, not rooted, about 16 months old.
- after about a year random reboots begin and get more frequent, sometimes 6-7 times daily
- replaced with new Anker battery. problems go away for about 2 weeks
- after about a month, phone no longer charges (no orange light) using the original ac adapter and usb cable
- gave in and called HTC (from htc.com:United States/English/+1-866-449-8358/08:00 - 01:00 ET (7 days a week))
- got a RMA number and paid for shipping (~ $6 with Insurance at USPS) to Texas
- HTC returned her Amaze (same IMEI number), fixed under warranty. Not exactly sure what they replaced/fixed as they did not provide details.
If you're in a last resort type of situation, give them a call...you never know! Since being fixed, it's been rooted and NRG ICS Blue ROM and 4EXT recovery flashed, just like mine. All is great...for now... If Amaze dies again, not sure what phone to get next.
