[Q] Xperia X10...about to lose it :( (Urgent Help can save me) - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

While trying to fix my message problem (stuck in sending) on my Custom ROM TW 007 on Xperia X10, I have managed to completely screw my phone. Now, I have the following issues
1. Wifi doesnt work.
2. SD Card wont mount
3. SEUS wont connect.
4. Busybox wont install. (problem with Core Utilities)
5. xRecovery wont install.
and obviously Messaging wont work.
I would greatly appreciate if experts can help me out here since I have been stuck for couple of days now with it. Otherwise I be buying another phone soon and sadly I may have to switch from Android to another platform

try reflashing firmware ?????

I am no expert, but i would suggest you to try and flash stock.
Hope this help....

Try flashing your stock firmware by flashtool.

How do I flash Stock Firmware? I dont have it? Is there a link for it?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343

Thanks. Will update with results

I somehow deleted last Post from someone who sent a link to the Stock Firmware. Many thanks. My phone is back.
I want to flash Custom ROM again as the stock is too slow.
I went it Xrecovery and Unzipped the Wolf_GB_2.3. It was successful but nothing happened. I am currently on 2.3.3. Is that the issue?

dont unzip it.
Place it on the sd card and install it in xrecovery.
Make sure you have the correct version of the rom...i imagine you need one the locked bootloader version

you will never lose it. SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE X10. the phone is unbrickable. Good luck.

Not quite, with an unlocked bootloader it is, speak to DooMLoRD about it
But with a locked bootloader you are correct, a repair with pccompanion will always sort out the phone

He bricked it in a process most of us are not even able to comprehend,
let alone perform, so for the average user, X10 is pretty much unbreakable.

Which is what I meant, but it is incorrect to say it is impossible to brick it, just that it is extremely unlikely that mortals like us will ever do anything that could brick it..

try disconnecting the cord while the bootloader unlock is "in progress". you'll pretty well realise that lesser mortals can brick this phone too.

Not really, he was trying to find a way to flash kernels into boot partition from OS/recovery and after insmodding a module, device got stuck and died after unplugging,
but probably bootloader got corrupted during the insmod and not the unplug.
Anyway, that doesn't happen every day!
And yes, it's a golder rule: don't unplug it!

[BACKUP] [R800i] CWM Backup of Stock ROM 4.0.A.368

So, the member neil_swann80 is in trouble because Flashtool seems to be rogue on him, so he asked for a Nandroid backup of a stock ROM. If I recall correctly he even offered monetary incentive: if this works, for him, I would rather have it go to XDA.
http://www.megaupload.com/?f=AIYYLQAP
That's the back-up: as usual in my uploads, it's a .7z file divided in parts (2 in this case): just extract the first one and the rest will ensue. I like to keep the download count so I would kindly ask not to mirror it.
It's a completely untouched CWM backup of the latest stock ROM for the R800i (it even has the clock set on 1980 or something). For him, and for everyone else: if you want to use this, extract the files and copy the resulting folder to the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup directory of your Xperia Play. Run CWM, go to Backup and Restore-Restore and select the folder (by default called NeilSwann).
I don't provide any kernel as you can use DoomLord's, which is compatible with stock ROMs and is orders of magnitude more functional than the stock one.
Would this work for cdma. I'm on the Verizon r800x..

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.
I've restored the nandroid backup you uploaded, my phone hangs on the SE logo now. I got the swirly boot up animation which was new. I guess I screwed my phone more than I thought. I think I may have to accept defeat on this one now.

[Q] Bricked phone, what I shouldn't do now?

Hello guys!
A few weeks ago I got my phone bricked while I was playing with some custom ROMs. I don't know exactly what happened, but after I flashed openOptimus One the phone became weird. At first time, I thought it was just me that didn't liked the ROM (which was true), so I decided to flash void.forever again.
I'm not saying that the brick reason were these ROMs, but just telling what happened. So, the phone became a nice brick when I tried to reflash void.forever. I've sent it to LG on 10/13, so it should be returning today or tomorrow (they took a lot of time to recieve the board to repair).
My question now is: what I shouldn't do to it doesn't become a brick again? I actually don't care about rooting, custom ROMs and all, and this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322663 caught my attention.
Any advices?
Thanks!

Hm... something tells me that my mistake was about cache or something. And what is the advantage on partitioning my SD? I've read about it in almost all ROMs, but never understood exactly what it is or for what it's for. Can someone point me?
Hm, no one to help me about that thing on moving apps to SD?

Total noob in regards to Sony and customizing

I'm not sure where to start in regards to Sony.
I myself have a Galaxy S2 and read the Bible there and got great advice/suggestions in the forums, but the Sony bit has me confused.
I have an old Xperia X10a sitting collecting dust (it's about 2-3 years old now) and since a relative wants to get a smartphone and an Android more specifically, I thought this would be perfect for her, in case she were to mishandle it or lose it.
So first, I have to unlock the phone.
Then what I'm confused about is this so called "bootloader", is this something I need to worry about or not?
So unlock phone, then, what?
Thanks in advance.
Meant to put this in Q&A, sorry Mods.

You don't need to unlock the bootloader. just follow this thread that root it, install the Xrecovery(0.3) and flash donutHD 2.2.9 and you never have to worry about anything else. Or and unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with sim unlocking to work on different network.
So tell me how it went and ask any questions.

Lol flashing is hard for this phone e compared to others. Half the time the kernels don't flash because there's only two files in it instead of a lot for the loader.bin. like the othernight I flashed a kernal and wifi was broke and the phone was stuck sideways. Its different and I understand I'm in the same boat. Took me almost 13 hours to get this thing to stay rooted and unlocked. Used superoneclick to root and everything said I was except the flashtool lol.

All kernels that I tested was flashed with no problems. the .bin files aren't problem. All kernels which I had worked as they should. Wifi was not broken, and if it was broken, theres an update package to fix this, or you can ask in thread whats the problem that wifi is not running. ...... well sry man but I havent got problems with rooting or flashing. I think this phone is the easy task not the hard one.

I agree with harviak.. I had only one issue till now n that was when I was a complete noob and hadn't followed the steps correctly. I got it workin myself after that. So don't get scared of customizing.
Btw if ur cousin is on a different network and ur x10a is locked to a certain network then the bootloader has ntn to do with what u need. U need to remove the simlock. Look for an appropriate guide here on xda
And if u feel interested in putting in a custom ROM unlock ur bootloader (look for a thread called flashtool and check out the guides there)

Bricked?

So, after my landlady put my Evo 3D through the washing machine I borrowed an Xperia X10 mini pro. It was ****.
So, I decided to stick another ROM on it.
Flashed CWM, tried a few ROM's and then the bad thing. Overclocking.
I was blinded by the thought of running 4.0.4 on an overclocked kernel so tried to flash it with Flashtool and bang. Nothing.
Now I can't boot it, can't get recovery, can't connect to the PC... er.. pretty much can't do anything at all.
The main problem here being that I borrowed it and now I've killed it.
Anyone got any ideas?

If the kernel you flashed was the x10blrelock.ftf then your phone needs a JTAG.

It was either U20_nAa-ics-04_2.6.29.6-nAa-ics-04.ftf or EPRJKRN_X10MiniPro_v1.0.ftf but not sure which.
What's a JTAG?
I think the problem was the recovery messing up (somehow) so do you know if there's any way to get it back on there or do a factory reset if it won't boot?
Ah. Sorry :-S

Yep! It's all sorted and now running 4.0.4
I ended up using the Sony update software here http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/software/phones/xperia-x10-mini-pro/
That got it up and running again and get the recovery working again, then I was able to use Flashtool to flash the nAn-ics-04 kernel and CWM recovery to flash MiniCM9-3.0.5-mimmi which is really good. Was hoping for a little more overclock but hey, can't have anything...
Hope this helps at least a little

[Q] Xperia sola - Battery Drop problem

Hi, im a newbie on this forum so im sorry if im making any mistake. I have xperia sola from September 2012. it was working well untill almost a year back. Check this
I'm having same problem since then , maybe because of overcharging or maybe because I had some battery monitoring apps installed. so from a year or so my phone cant stay up for more than 10mins and im living through it, at first i had no idea how to fix it but when i checked sony forum i got to know it can be repaired by SUS/SOny pc companion. I know all the steps about installing ics because i have done it by myself after buying this phone.but now i cant because i have slow internet it will take forever to download it and there is no Sony service center in my city. I searched about cyanogenmod and I really feel like trying it on my phone but im scared because I haven't played with the ROM thing ever so i may brick the phone and then blame the developers. I can download all the files required for cyanogenmod overnight on my phone and transfer them to laptop and do the further steps. but the problem is , what if my phone turns off during installation process? will it get bricked? and will it even solve the battery issue?
ok i cant post links over here i was just posting sony forum's thread.my phone's battery has problems it drops from 100% to 0% from 90% to 0% , just at any point, i cant use my phone without charger being plugged in

I see. So are you on official stock ICS right now? or not yet? I don't get how you need to install ics by yourself, as aren't xperia sola's shipped with ics installed already? Anyways, try one of the ff:
A. Recalibrate your battery stats (search a battery calibrate app in the play store. I think it requires root.)
B. Try a new battery
C. If you can, try doing a factory reset to see if it's an app's fault or a system service or something. Or maybe try removing apps that keep running in the background. I don't think flashing cyanogen will help much if in your stock rom the problem already exists.
D. Or if it's not a software problem or a battery problem, then maybe it's a phone hardware problem. I had a neo V that had a short. So battery life was cut. battery always gets eaten, even when I turn the phone off! Maybe you could try going to a cellphone repair store not necessarily a sony center if your warranty period is already over
Hope this helps

Yup! That's quite common and guides for that are easy to find.
Also, before you do the kernel change, have you tried http://www.shuame.com/en/root/ ?
Btw for eroot, shuame, flash tool, and binary's root app to work, drivers are needed.
For drivers, you can find a driver installer within flash tool. Or you could use the drivers provided by sony pc companion. So don't expect any of them to work if you haven't installed working drivers.

any one should work. only can tell, by trial and error.
So your options and fallbacks:
1. your link from sony's website (it says for GB... you're on ICS already right? idrk if this one should work well)
2. sony pc companion provided drivers (recommmended IMO)
3. shuame root genius provided drivers (you should try the others first and this is your last resort)
4. flashtool provided drivers (I also recommend this)
5. PdaNet (really really last resort. not that' it's bad or anything. I just like sticking to officially provided drivers for starters)

any one should work. only can tell, by trial and error.
So your options and fallbacks:
1. your link from sony's website (it says for GB... you're on ICS already right? idrk if this one should work well)
2. sony pc companion provided drivers (recommmended IMO)
3. shuame root genius provided drivers (you should try the others first and this is your last resort)
4. flashtool provided drivers (I also recommend this)
5. PdaNet (really really last resort. not that' it's bad or anything. I just like sticking to officially provided drivers for starters)

I've run out of ideas now.. Maybe flashing a different baseband may help. Note this is a blind guess.. I dont know if it will help or not. I just know baseband does affect battery life. I have never done this myself so I don't know how risky it can be

on divaksh's post, so should i download it on my phone and transfer it to my laptop and flash it via flashtool, will it work? and it's the official stock rom right? i can just put it on download and sleep, it will be ready by the time i get up, see this thread by nabeel he also recommends to install fresh ROM

Just be sure that the Rom you are about to download is legitimately stock Rom. As I don't know where you got that download link. I am not from the sola forum so I don't recognize the username
It is best to download from a laptop/desktop as phone download managers often make uncommon file types into unusable files. U could go to a computer shop or try downloading it from a friend's house. Then flash it yourself on your laptop
