How to change green in call status bar indication? - Motorola Photon 4G

On every phone froyo and above, when you're on the phone, there's this green bar that moves across and fills the status bar over and over again. Is there any way to remove this or change it's color?

I've never seen that before.
--EDIT--
The status bar flashes green on the stock Photon ROM. Apparently it only does this when you have a call in the background and are doing something else. I was not aware you could do this on android phones.
For example, if you have WiFi on and receive a call (the 4G/3G/1xRTT radios are off during a call), put it on speakerphone, you can then talk to someone and surf the web (such as check on something for your caller)

Yes. This is known. But I didn't ask if you can use your device for other things while making a call.
What I asked was while in a call and the status bar is flashing green, can the flashing color be made to change to more match a theme? Can that bar be made blue or red or any other color? Can it be turned off? If so, how? Changing the color would be nice.
Is this another digging into frameworkres or is there an easier way? If this is a frameworkres thing, can anybody post details? And if it IS a frameworkres issue, has anyone made a good tool to work with it and if not a tool, a good roadmap for things to change? A tool would be nice and I'm guessing the android community might be developed enough that it's been done, hopefully?

I have edited this. You need to go into the SystemUI.apk.
1) Download 7zip
2) Install 7zip
3) Copy your SystemUI.apk to your computer
4) Open SystemUI.apk using 7zip (Open Archive)
5) at the same time extract your SystemUI.apk to your computer so you have the folder and archive window open side by side
6) In both folders, go to res/drawable-hdpi
7) Look for status_bar_background_animation1 though status_bar_background6
8) Change them in the extracted folder, and save
9) Drag the newly created images into the 7zip archive folder and then close it
10) move the SystemUI.apk to your sdcard
11) Move the file again to system/media
12) Change permissions by longpressing to RW-R-R
13) Move to system/app
14) Reboot, Enjoy!

[Q] Black theme / Fast Button Bar on Openfire

Hi!
i've just flash open fire, after using CM7 for a long time
I hate the white bar on the top of the screen! how can i change theme or make it black? same in the background of sms..
is it also possible to install the fast button in the notification bar, like cyanogen?
no one know how to do it?
will an alternative launcher resolve my problem?
You will probably need a framework-res.apk from another ROM which is black (CM7's should work, but, I dont know 100%), pull the said file from your Openfire ROM, and push the new one. Ofcourse, you will need a bit of ADB knowledge for this.
As for power control in the notification bar, there are many apps claiming to do this on the market. Here are a few:
* Extended Controls
* Bartender
* Bar Control
* Power Control Plus
* Widgetsoid
* Quickdesk
thank you
CM7 framework-res will NOT work. OpenFire is 2.2, CM7 is 2.3. In fact, framework-res files arent even compatible with different nightly builds of CM7 many a time.
As for your question, you can try tweaking the framework-res.apk. open it with a zip file manager, and find the images in the drawable-mdpi or drawable-ldpi folder. find the image which looks like your title bar and edit it to your liking (paint, photoshop, watever). put it bak in the zip and save. then push it into the rom again.
the black statusbar should be called statusbar_background.9 png in cm7 (it is found in systemui.apk), take that and rename it to whatever the status bar is called in openfire and place it in your framework-res.apk/drawable_mdpi folder. then flash or adb push.

request transparent status bar

can anyone make a transparent status bar ?or do you know a guide and i`ll make one myself ,didn`t find one. i want for sense .
Manual method :
1. Pull the framework-res.apk from /system/framework
2. Extract the apk and find the drawable MDPI/LDPI which there is a many icons
3. Find all status bar icon
4. Edit in on Photoshop or any editor
5. Change the opacity to 50-80%(0%=Blank no status bar LOL )
6. Copy the png to the apk(ZIP not the extracted one)
7. Push it to /system/framework
8. REBOOT and PRAY
actually it's the basic method and old method without theme choser
don't forget to backup the original framework-res.apk or NANdroid Backup
blank status bar is good, shows only time and others status but what about metamorph ?anyone with photoshop wants to do this ?my laptop is not powerfull enough ,the rom is wildpuzzle so you can download the framework apk from there.
Look for the 2 Sense Themes - WildDazzler and AeroFire (It's listed in the Theme Thread, Just search for it). Both descriptions state they have Transparent Status bars, so, you can just take it from there, if you do now want to have the entire theme.
flashed them both and they are ugly
If you read completely what I wrote above, you can use the Status bar files from them, if you are unable to modify it yourself.
Well auleu let me know what you have in mind and i'll give it a shot
Like 3xeno said if you want to try it for yourself just edit the framework-res.apk by unzipping it, going to either LDPI, MDPI, or HDPI (doesnt apply since this is Wildfire).
Edit the status_bar_backround.png and any other status_bar_* related items.
Once done go to the root of the folder, select all and say send to zip. Make sure your file extensions arent hidden. Rename it to framework-res.apk
Now you have 3 options,
1. access phone through recovery using
adb shell, mount /system, cd /system/framework/, rm framework-res.apk, exit.
Then cd to your edited apk and then
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
reboot (dangerous option, try only if you sure you done everything correctly, regardless make a nandroid backup before doing so)
2. edit my aerofire zip by extracting it, removing everything besides the framework folder in the system folder, now copy your framework-res.apk to the framework folder, removing whats inside. Go to root of folder, select all, right click, send to compressed zip. then flash through recovery, reboot.
3. head to the uot.dakra.lt/ and run the framework-res.apk through it customizing what you want and then flash the resultant zip file.
Hope that helps
Does metamorp or Zip Themer work on Wildfire?? Tried them many time but couldnt bring them to work...any guides/suggestions ...
I tried, keeps rebooting, dont really have a lot of time to test as i'm writing an exam tomorrow.
Thing is i'm under the impression that it only works on mdpi devices, correct me if i'm wrong about this
Is it possible to make a transparent lockscreen with the same way?
I use DK Custom Froyo Rom.
A transparent lockscreen is in fact the exact same process, only difference is that you modify the com.htc.resources.apk instead of the framework-res.apk. If you want some idea on what needs modding, take a look at my aerofire theme mod, just extract the apk needed and take a look.
Just search the forum for lockscreen mods and you can do just about anything with it. That being said, widgetlocker? who uses that and why? i find it so frustrating due to (and i know this is a bit perfectionist or whatever) the 1 or 2 second delay that occurs between pressing the power button and seeing the lockscreen, i mean come on, sometimes it even shows the homescreen for a split second before showing the lockscreen and thats just not on for me
did any one tried that. completely transparent status bar???/ is there a flashable zip?? srry m no developer. after trying hundereds of roms m bak to kwbr. lol

[Requests/Collection/Tool] Sense 3.0 Lock Rings [Lock Ring Kit] - Update 10/18/11

My laptop was stolen recently so I won't be able to help anyone out until I can get a new one. Thanks for stopping by though.
This is no longer a tutorial, just a simple user friendly Lock Ring Kit.
Please download the updated kit at the bottom of this post.
I will also take requests here for anyone who doesn't want to mess with it.
Since people are still rocking 2.3.3 ROMs, please specify if your ROM is 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 when making a request. There are subtle differences.
Also you have a few rosies to choose from, let me know which one you want. If you don't request something specific, I'll just make the default rosie. Rosie choices attached at the bottom of this post. If you would like a rosie I don't have here, let me know and I'll see what I can do to add it to the kit. Also, I've played around a little with themes enough to feel comfortable to help out wherever I can. So if you have a request that is not related to my kit, I still may be able to help you out.
All 2.3.3 requests I've done are posted on Post# 3 and Post# 4
2.3.4 version requests are posted on Post# 125 and Post# 126

First of all, this is intented for Deodexed ROMs on the EVO 3D. Other qHD devices may work as well but I cannot guarantee. For devices such as the EVO 4G (WVGA), use one of the tutorials below . While these mods have been working flawless on several ROMs, there is the occasional error. Just to be safe MAKE A NANDROID to go back to if something goes wrong. If you don't read up and just flash something, lock ring mods or any other, and something should screw up, you can't be mad at anyone but yourself if you've got nothing to go back to.
With this method, your ring will only show up on the default skin or the HTC supplied skins, Burgundy and BlueSky. Every custom skin has its own lock ring which overwrites the default. If you have a custom skin installed and would like a custom lock ring, go to my second post for a mini tutorial on editing custom skins.

I originally learned how to make these from this thread: [Tutorial] Sense 3.0 Custom Lock Ring Kit so big thanks to jmaher1023 for that.
Another thread to check out is [TUTORIAL] User-Friendly Custom Lock-Rings for Sense 3.0 (EVO 4G) by gamendorf. *Thanks gamendorf for the help with the batch file.

1. Unzip the attached Lock_Ring_Kit_2.3.3.zip or Lock_Ring_Kit_2.3.4.zip to your C drive (C:\Lock_Ring_Kit_2.3.3) or (C:\Lock_Ring_Kit_2.3.4)
2. Pick your image and resize it to 271x270. For the image to show up correctly you have to rotate it 180 degrees and mirror it. Your image must be saved as a .png
3. Save your edited image as LockRing.png and move it to the root of your Lock Ring Kit
4. Run the batch file for the Rosie you want (look in "Rosie Screenshots" folder to decide)
5. A flashble zip file will be created at the root of your Lock Ring Kit. Rename it, sign it if you want, move it to your SD Card and flash in recovery

*Not that anyone actually reads the entire first post, but just for your information, making Lock Rings for GSM and Sense 3.5 is not possible yet. As of right now m10 tools is unable to decompile these m10 files. Until we get a m10 tools update for these we have no way to edit.
The above comment was really nothing more than a speculation. I went ahead and asked the devs of the m10 tools if they could confirm what I thought and this was his answer...

This is a quick tutorial for anyone who wants to edit just the lock ring of a custom skin. Honestly it's more to get you playing with M10Editor.exe.
Again, pick your image, resize it to 271x270, rotate 180 degrees, and mirror.
Inside the M10_Tools folder there is M10Editor.exe.
1. Open M10Editor.exe.
2. Click the Load File button and choose the skin.apk you want to edit.
3. Go to the m10 files tab and highlight the only m10 file shown (usually shared.m10)
4. Check the Decode Images check box.
6. Click the Decompile/Show button.
7. Once clicked, you'll be moved to the Editor tab.
8. Expand by clicking the arrow next to shared.m10.
9. Continue to expand until you expand Textures.
10. Scroll through Textures until you see the default (or sometimes modified) lock ring image.
11. Right click the image and choose Show in Explorer.
12. The image will already be highlighted when the explorer opens, copy the name of the highlighted file.
13. Change the name of your image to the one you just copied and drag or copy your image inside to replace it.
14. Close the explorer and go back to the Start tab in M10Editor.exe.
15. Click the Save File button. If you want to change the name of the apk when prompted, go ahead.
16. Sign the apk and install through a file explorer.
Sometimes you have to reboot for the lock ring to show.
Personally when I edit a skin, I also edit my ROMs fusion.apk and Idlescreen_Base.apk in order to remove traces of the default ring. Some ROM creators mod these apks for their ROM. If you know for sure that your ROM does not have a modded fusion.apk and Idlescreen_Base.apk you can simply use my lock ring kit to make your lock ring. If your ROM does have a modded fusion.apk and Idlescreen_Base.apk you should pull those files from the ROM and use M10Editor.exe to edit those files directly. The only m10 files you need to edit are the Default shared.m10 in fusion.apk and Lock_ring_motion.m10 in Idlescreen_Base.apk.

I originally learned how to make these from this thread: [Tutorial] Sense 3.0 Custom Lock Ring Kit so big thanks to jmaher1023 for that.
If you want to, watch the video tutorial to get an idea of what to do.
DO NOT download the Lock Ring Kit attached in that thread, because the files included are not for qHD.
I've included a modified Lock Ring Kit for E3D here: E3D_Lock_Ring_Kit.zip
The E3D Lock Ring Kit and tutorial are about the same as jmaher1023's tutorial, but I changed the process and folder organization a little to hopefully simplify things.
Also, you should stop by this thread [DEV-TOOLS] [MODE10] Mode10Tools now released ! and give thanks to Flemmard and Diamondback2010, the devs of the m10 tools that make all this possible.
If you don't already have one, download an archiver like 7zip or WinRAR. I use 7zip.
To keep things simple, unzip the attached E3D_Lock_Ring_Kit.zip to your C drive (C:\Lock_Ring_Kit)
Inside the Lock_Ring_Kit you will see 3 folders (Copy Contents to Working, M10_Tools, Working), a zip file (Base_Lock_Ring.zip), and a doc file (Names & Commands.doc).
Now pick your image and resize it to 271x270. For the image to show up correctly you have to rotate it 180 degrees and mirror it. Save the edited image to a place of your choosing.
Now your ready to start creating the lock ring.
This is my method, step by step:
1. Open your Lock_Ring_Kit folder and (obviously) copy the contents of the Copy Contents to Working folder to the Working folder.
2. Open your Working folder and copy your edited image to the following folders - BlueSky1,Burgundy1,Default1, and Lock_ring_motion1.
3. Open the Names & Commands.doc and rename your copied images to the PNG Names. After renaming the images, move them into the inner folder and replace the existing image (eg. move the BlueSky png into BlueSky1\shared).
4. Open command prompt and change directory to C:\Lock_Ring_Kit\M10_Tools.
5. Go back to the Names & Commands.doc and copy and paste each of the m10 Commands into comand prompt and hit enter. This will compile new m10 files with your image inside.
6. Now you have to copy the newly compiled m10 files to their correct location within the Base_Lock_Ring.zip. The newly compiled m10 files are
in folders BlueSky(shared.m10), Burgundy(shared.m10), Default(shared.m10), and Lock_ring_motion(Lock_ring_motion.m10).
7. Copy the Base_Lock_Ring.zip to the Desktop or anywhere else you'd like.
7. Use 7zip (or WinRAR) to open Base_Lock_Ring.zip (eg. Right click>7-Zip>Open Archive)
8. Navigate to \system\app\fusion.apk\assests\BlueSky\drawable and drag your newly compiled shared.m10 file inside to replace the existing shared.m10. Do the same for Burgundy and Default. Use the back or folder up button to update the apk. A prompt will come up asking if you want to continue.
9. For Idlescreen_Base.apk, navigate to \assests\scenes\base and drag your newly compiled Lock_ring_motion.m10 inside to replace the existing Lock_ring_motion.m10. Back out to update the apk, and close the archiver.
That should be about it. You can rename the Base_Lock_Ring.zip to whatever you like. I'd say go ahead and sign the zip, but thats up to you. Put the zip on your SD Card, go into recovery and flash.

When doing step 3, if using Vista or Windows 7, make sure to omit the .png extension when renaming your edited image from the word document. You will end up with a .png.png and nothing will have changed.

In that case, you can simply delete the .png part in your Names & Commands.doc. I show all file extensions on my computer and I copy and overwrite the whole name, extension and all. If you want to show file extensions to be able to see .png on your image name, go to Folder Options in your explorer, go to the View tab, scroll down and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

Is there a way to edit the rest of the lock screen? Like the bar at the bottom where the lock ring sits on? I see what looks like the png for it in the images in the default, bluesky, and burgandy folders. I tried editing them and compiled them back to shared.m10 and ten flashing the zip but it didn't work. I was able to edit the background of the clock on the home screen this way and it worked but again I was unable to get the same result for the stuff at the bottom (the bar and soft buttons). Is there another place where these are edited or am I doing something wrong?

I'm thinking that is probably within Rosie.apk but I don't really know. This m10 file stuff is new to me and I'm slowly learning. m10 files are reminiscent of cab files on windows mobile to me. I'm hope someone who has been doing full themes can comment on this.

wifi etc. icons gone [black field instead] after changing battery icon in systemui

Hi,
I'd appreciate your input on the following problem.
In custom recovery, I have installed the aroma file manager, copied the /system/app/systemui.apk to the sd-card.
On the computer, I have opened the systemui.apk with WinZip. I also opened a zip file that contained the battery pngs of my choice - I highlighted them and dragged them into the WinZip systemui.apk window (replacing the original pngs).
I copied the systemui.apk back to the sd-card, rebooted the phone into the recovery, started aroma file manager again, replaced the original /system/app/systemui.apk with my modified systemui.apk and checked the permissions.
I rebooted the phone. My new battery icon is there.
BUT where the wifi icon and the sd-card icon etc. used to be, there is a black field now - i.e. the icons are no longer shown, only black placeholders.
Any idea why?
What can I do?
Thanks
mary-lou
Have you changed the status bar bg by mistake? Also make sure that the battery icons are of same dpi as stock. Have you played with any other thing? (Transparency?)

Hi, I haven't change the status bar bg and I haven't played with transparency.
BUT I tried again.
This time I used another set of icons (the icons do have the same size as in my first attempt, though), again I copied them from a zip into the systemui.apk -- BUT this time I used 7-zip (instead of WinZip). And it worked. No problems after copying the systemui.apk back to /system/app and setting the permissions.
I don't know if there was a problem with the first icon set or if WinZip was the problem.
Summing up, it is possible to replace pngs in the systemui.apk in an odexed system by just dragging&dropping the modified apks into the systemui.apk (with the help of 7-Zip).
Yeah, using 7-zip is mandatory while creating archives for android. It's the same with flashable zips. I found out that you even have to use the windows version, it isn't enough to use 7-zip in Linux.

[GUIDE] How To Remove Network Icons(4G/3G/G/E) From The Status Bar

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REMOVING NETWORK ICONS FROM STATUS BAR
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey there folks. This is my first guide so don't except from me a lot. Please do cooperate and if you have any problem, head to comments and at last sorry for my bad english
Requirements:
1. The Rom From Which You Want To Remove The Network Icons.
2. SystemUI.apk
3. A PC (You can also do it on phone by using ES File Explorer)
4. Attached Files
5. ES File Explorer
6. And Most Important-
Brain
How To(NO DECOMPILING REQUIRED):
1. Extract the ROM and navigate to SystemUI.apk and extract it.
2. Navigate To res/drawable.
3. Look for files having 3G/4G/G/E icon. The file names commonly start with stat_sys_network but it is not for all ROMs. So, it is better to look for icons.
4. Now open the icons with paint, erase them and resize them to 1x1 res and save them.
5. If you can't do the above method copy out the icons from the attached files and paste them in the res/drawable folder but rename them according to the original icons name.
6. Now Compress The APK and choose the "STORE" compression method.
7. After Compression Rename The "SystemUI.rar" To "SystemUI.apk"
8. Replace The Old "SytemUI.apk" with the new one.
9. Compress the whole ROM using WinRAR and select Store Compression Method.
10. Flash the ROM or push the apk through ADB or simply replace it in the current ROM.
Note:
On replacing it in the current ROM it will force close so you have to restart the phone and after restarting you can't see any status bar. Now replace it again and change the permission to 'rwrr' and restart again. This time it will work fine and your network icons will be gone.
11. Cheers!!!!!
Man that was awesome!
Just what i needed, but i have some questions, you remove all icons? big 3g and little 3g, or just Big 3g?
When i use xposed, i remove wifi icon because when wifi is connected, the network icon disappears, so the status bar looks clean Its possible to do something like that?
But without ROOT because i have a new phone now and i will wait for the warranty u know...

11. Cheers!!!!!

Guide for Pie (Android 9)
Your guide was very helpful, and ignited the spark in me to investigate how to do this on the latestish firmware.
You can do this on Pie by:
-Extracting the files formatted as ic_*network*_mobiledata.xml
-Setting every instance of
Code:
android:viewportWidth=
and
Code:
android:viewportHeight=
to 0
-Reinserting said files back into the archive
-Deleting systemui.apk and replacing it with the modified apk with 644 permissions
-Rebooting
Cheers!
