Hi guys, my dell streak randomly reboots at times. right before rebooting the 3 touch sensitive buttons flash 3 times and go into the reboot ... Sometimes it will do this numerous times and the only way i can get it to fully boot up is by pulling the battery out. I always keep a close eye on my ram and i always kill all apps once im done using them. my streak idles at around 170 mb of ram use.
can anybody here help?

Heres some more info about my phone
Oem version: sd gingerstreak 2.4.4
build version: gingerstreak 2.4.4
Baseband version: Gausb1a140514-us
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf
My best advice is to look at the gxkernel thread and flash that.

Just got my unlocked froyo streak and wondering what benefits upgrading gives me.
The phone already is so much more stable than my captivate and all I did was root it.

There are a couple of fixes as there were still some issues on 315 for example, on 315, a lot of people couldn't access certain sites as the phone would report that there were too many redirects or something and this was fixed in 318, this is also a big issue sometimes for people who tried to connect to facebook via other apps. 318 is also a bit more smoother and is even better with the performance tweaks. My advice would be to upgrade to 318 if you can.
Mostly speed fixes in 318, such as scrolling speed when you're adding shortcuts to the dock. 315 is slow, 318 is real good.
I would highly recommend upgrading if you are currently on 315. I had no end of issues with 315, including browser redirects, FC's and dropped calls.
318 is pretty much perfect (and even better when you do the performance fix enabling a little overclocking )
my cameras no longer work in 318, all I get is a "Cannot connect to camera" message

Have you tried a full factory reset?
There may have also been an issue with uploading and installing the 318 update. Go back to the dell website, re-download the update, and apply it again.
I am on 318 now. Borked the phone a few times due to screwing with my framework-res.apk.
i am a pro at reflashing now.. lol
how am I supposed to determine which build I am currently on? under settings / phone info the build number says 12821.. ?

menu scrolling much more smoother.....but getting a number of FCs with apps......i have friends having the same problems.....

Im.running right now the Pre release 2.2 from the QDL tool ver. 305 and everything is working great. I have had no issues on this version of 305. My question is, is it worth updating to 318 and will I have issues with that build running it stock like the 305?
Also from what ive seen here around the forums is that 318 has its share of problems so im debating if its worth it or not......

If its whether 319 is better... i too think so.... even thoug the build of 319 is older than 318, its much stable and faster. .. and it works well without any modding.
in that case im a 320 EU and my device has been giving me hell lately!! restarts on its own. screen un responsive i dunno what the hells wrong with it!
even when I go to the system udates option it says invalid
im lost

You should try calibrating your touchscreen. That might help with screen response.
no the screen just goes dead I cant click anything or touch anything at all I have to restart my phone. Even the soft keys dont work.. My phone just freezes

Hello, well I just received my 2nd streak today, first one fell, screen smashed Nd was fairly beat up. Like the streak so much, got another one. Nothing beats the size!.
Now I am with rogers, I just updated to rogers 2.2. Am wondering how do I go about getting to 1.8.1
I flashed my old streak alot, enjoy steves builds. I know about the text files, Nd such for choosing what I want. Just am looking for info about what to flash. Can I just flash 1.8.1 right over or do I need to use qdl and such?
Just flash it over using streakmod recovery.

Update.zip 2.0 modifier/creater
There are two very LARGE caviats about using it though:
By default it generates amend scripts, which are obsolete, you need to manually generate edify scripts in all zips
It automatically signs it with the default android test key, which shouldnt be used either (though I use that myself, you're supposed to generate your own certs and sign against them for your releases)
It's only really useful for the final step of packing and signing a zip, you should not use the script generating portion of it
Thats over my head might have to cancel this rom idea. If anyone wants to try and zip the rom i could send a clean nandroid. Its made from 360 and can overclock to 1.5

The first gen snapdragon can NOT clock to 1.5ghz, I'd like to see you do a linpack average on it, it might be reporting as 1.5ghz, but there's no way the PLL/Multiplier is actually getting it to 1.5ghz.

Well i guess setcpu lies when i can clock to 1.53. I dont know why you would jump on me like that..im not claiming i know everything about android im learning. I know nothing of linpacking or whatever. Simply flash simple streak oc kernel over stock 360 and see what i mean. Maybe you can explain why it allows 1.53. Id like to learn.

the highest i can overclock to is 1190 anything over that & my streak wont boot
& even at 1190 is not with out problems some reboots & lock ups so the highest
stable i can go to is 1113
your very lucky to get to 1.53 well done
I normally stay at 1.38 because the higher you go it munches more and more battery.

if you want to upgrade to gb... you really need to understand fully of what to do next... or you will in trouble if something goes wrong... like other newbies here... they all just wanted to upgrade without doing some proper reading and understanding... and then come here crying...
I have done it before on other phone just on the ds it seems a whole lot differant to me I put jellybean on my lil boys phone yesterday was just for me to play with tho lol. I just seem to have a lot of force closes on froyo so thought gb would be a bit better

The first think to do is read all the sticky posts on Streak 5 Android Development thread, next you choose the rom and read the instructions. Every rom has there on instructions. I use MIUI 2.4.20 for about 1 month with no major problems.

On my Dell Axim 51v, flashing ROMs was a completely simple matter; no special 'root' access needed, you just load the ROM onto the SD card then boot to recovery and flash it, done. I loved Windows Mobile for that.
On the Android platform it's a nightmare of complicated steps dependent on other steps, including the installation of various different programs on your Streak and your PC. I hate Android for that.
If you have a stock recovery, it's the same steps: you put the pkg on the root of the sd card and boot into recovery and flash it.
No special 'root' access needed.

streakdroid is obsolete now you know... its better to use longhorn or dsc
I got some crappy stock one at the min seems,like clockworkmod dont work lol I will get round to doin stuff once my new mem card turns up
