This Is my 1st work for XDA forum this thread helps you to update your phone to Xperia Mini S51SE Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.61 lots of people looking for this. Hope You Will Like My Effort.
Note:- I am not responsible for any brick or damage of phone.
Follow All The Steps Easily They Are Very Simple.
Step 1 :- Make Sure Your Phone Has 50% Charged Battery.

Step 2 :- Download The Below Link And Extract The Zip Then Open Open Folder And Open WotanClient.exe You Can See In Below Pic.
Step 3 :- Once You Open The Client It Will Automatically Update The Database Just Wait It Will Take Few Seconds.
Step 4 :- Now Attach Phone By Pressing Volume Down Button.
Step 5 :- Check Enable Advance Settings Option.
Step 6 :- Now Select S51SE From Model Tab And Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.61 On Firmware Tab And On CDA Tab Select EMOBILE Japan Option See Below Pic
Step 7 :- This Step Is Most Important Step Well I Already Filled The User Pass With My Own One If You Wanna Make Your Own Account Go To WotanServer.com And Make Your Own Account There You Can Use My Account To Just Dont Change Anything Press Next Button.
Step 8 :- Just Wait Wotan Client Will Update Your Phone Quickly The Zip Has Already S51SE Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.61 Flash Backup So No Need To Again Download From Wotan Server Set Will Quickly Update In 2 Or 3 Minutes Just Check Below.
Step 9 :- Disconnect Phone And Power It On Your Phone Is Successfully Updated Without Any Damage Or Brick.
Your Phone Is Updated Check Your Phone Details Check Some Below Screenshots Which I Have Taken From My Xperia Mini After Updating It To Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.61.

but for root i'm using flash tool 0.5.3 coz with that i can remove some application's
that i do want.
Before that i already test other method but all UN successful.
What changes makes this soft?

Dear Download The Whole Link Extract Then Go To Data Folder And Then Flashes Folder Where You Will Find All Flash File.
Yeah, I tried, but the Wotan use a strange encrypting method, and I can't decrypt it. I tried everything (Decrypt with Flashtool, rename to System.sin / system.img and extract with aIUPd, but they can't do anything).
I want to port it to Mini Pro, and I need they extracted things.

Dude I also Tried All methods to extract and flash the the files by flasher but not successed......
Flash it to your phone, and change the kernel to KrsH Mini Kernel. Enter to CWM and make a backup.
Hope You Will Root Your Phone With This Method.

Someone who updated successfully please share your customization code. Here are instructions how to do it:
1. Lock the screen of your phone. Press the menu button (left button) so that the screen is lit but still locked.
2. Press the home (central button) and back (right button) in following sequence:
home-back-back-home-back-home-home-back
Try several times if you can not do it the first time. when successful secret menu will appear. Go to Service info->Software info and find "customization version"
It should be something like 1241-3708_R3A (this is my code, your will be different but the same format).
Give us this code so we can update also.

Could you please post your "default.prop" which is located in the root?
More specific the "ro.semc.version.sw=1236-9291" (called kit by SE).
So others can modify and update too.

I used non-gui one, works to flash 1.6->2.1->1.6
These are the files you need to flash the 2.1 :
Loader
Firmware X8 2.1-rus
Instructions :
Get Bin4ry's flasher here :
Flasher for SE
Unpack it somewhere lets say C:\x8-flash
Replace the bat script.
unpack firmware .sin files into folder firmware inside the x8-flash
Put the loader.sin in the same place.
Start the bat script.

I'm currently using this ROM and is rooted. I used inteks15 kernel instead of the stock ones.

Is that option really necessary? It's not like you have so many settings in message menu

i install it
this screen when i try to instal recovery
and this screen when i traied to root from flashtool
downgrade to android 2.3 firmware .42 with flashtool
root with the cmd program.
Update over the air.
you will have now .62 rooted
After that install cwm.( download an app named x-parts from play store)
You will have .62 rooted with cwm.
From now on you might want to consider any custom rom if you have unlocked bootloader.(For locked bootloader check this

go at settings change language to english.

And take pictures of this menu probably you will need 2. (to take a picture you hold the button which you use to shutdown the phone and when the menu comes touch on screenshot (last option)
Or just write everything here.

I made a simple CWM installer to install .587 ROM to XMP.
Official 4.1.B.0.587
It's work in locked/unlocked bootloader too!
ES Vodafone source - thanks for the idea to sur1k
Vodafone's apps and customization removed, but any other apps and bloatware not - stock ROM, not cooked.
Rooted, SuperSU app installed
Install instructions:
0.) Copy the downloaded update_XMP587-ExPeacer.zip to your SD card
1.) Install CWM to your ROM
2.) Restart, and enter CWM
3.) If your bootloader LOCKED: mount&storage -> format /system.
4.) Back -> advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache.
5.) Back -> install zip from sdcard. Choose the update zip, then follow the instructions.
6.) When it finished, turn off the device.
7.) Copy the downloaded SK17i_4.1.B.0.587_Kernel-Baseband.zip to the Flashtool/firmwares folder.
8.) Start the Flashtool, go to Flashmode. Choose the SK17i 4.1.B.0.587 Kernel-Baseband line, then install it.
9.) If finished, start the device.
+1.) After the first boot, reboot the device again!
If you update from GB, at the 3rd step, choose format /data too!!
If you update from .431, in this way, you can keep your apps and settings!

Didn't even use 72 BB, prefer 64 BB cos its more smoother but seems 77 BB ιş better also... Am on 77 BB & my phone runs fine!!!

But I was surprised when you upgrade to another phone over the air that there is this wonderful feature

I dont have a Kernel i using KernelPanik v1.25
please update the link for the kernel :'(
I am not sure what is my firmware.I thought it was .587 but when i check at phone info its says Phone version is .431 and the phone software is .587.
So i update and when i check again it showed same again like before i update it with your method.
I need a clear instruction for rooting my Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman(wt19i) running on android version 4.0.4 nd with build number 4.1.B.0.587.

Done! You've rooted your phone!

The easiest way to root a Xperia mobile is as following
First unlock bootloader that you can do using official Sony site
Then instal Flashtool from androxide's official site
Then instal it on your PC . Go to c drive of your PC, then you will see a folder named Flashtool there you will see a folder named drivers instal drivers of Xperia mini x10 ( as it is same as your live with Walkman)
Download rage kernel from net its a custom kernel which has CWM and su binaries .copy it to your desktop
Now connect your mobile in your PC with holding volume up button a blue led will glow showing your mobile in fastboot mode. If it is win 7 it will install ADB drivers by itself if it is win xp then download PDA net on PC and install it it has ADB drivers.
Now after all this the rooting is very easy it won't result in bricking as it is the safest method
Connecting you phone in fastboot mode click open Flashtool and then click flash icon on top left select fastboot mode then another page will open select kernel to flash . Browse kernel it will be boot.img which you have kept on desktop select and Flashtool will automatically instal it in your device. Check the log. It will say reboot your device. Then take it out and start tour phone. It will show blue led after boot press volume up or down you will see cwm recovery.
Means you have rooted phone
