Default home screen - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had my sgs2 since launch but the only thing that bugs me is the default screen. Is there any chance to have the home screen as screen 4 instead of screen 1? I remember seeing somewhere it can be done but the search is useless on my phone

If your using tw 4.5 you can go to edit and drag the page you want to set as your home screen to the top (not sure about earlier versions, as I have never really used it). Other launchers such as go, adw and launcher pro all have similar options.

You should be able to select the menu button and then select edit, you will then be able to rearrange the screens to your liking.

Thanks for the reply guys, I'm using tw. When I press the home button I want the screen it goes to tto be screen 4 (middle screen same as htc sense)
I understand you can mov, them around but that still. Makes screen 1 default :-(

Sense 3.0 rotation feature...

Not sure everyone noticed but when sliding between the 7 home screens, if you slide it slowly with your finger, then you'll notice that the widgets are starting to pop out more. This effect is just like compiz for Linux.

That's pretty cool. I also noticed when on the homescreen with the weather widget, place a finger on top left of screen, and a finger on the bottom right of screen, then swipe left finger up at same time as right finger down, it brings up the screen where it shows all 7 screens.....hope you can follow that, haahaa!

The pinching in swiping that brings up all 7 screens can be done at any position and any screen, just start by having two fingers apart and pinch in then u get it. Cool thing with 3.0 is that you can slow motion this process.
I was hoping this would be a thread about how you had enabled landscape mode on the EVO 3d like on the flyer. Stupid that EVO 3d has this rotation locked

i was hoping this was a thread that had a way to disable the carousel when swiping fast..When i want to get to a screen fast the stupid thing spins..Dumb feature, cool at 1st yes but when it comes down to every day use the carousel is stupid.
I don't know about all that pinching stuff to get the 7 screens, its easier just to hit the home button when on the home screen. I don't know if this was on my EVO 4G, but i like when I'm using the browser, you can long press the return key and it brings up the history.
You can also see the gears on the side of the flip clock.

Is there a way to turn off the carousel effect? Especially at unlock, it's really annoying and actually detracts from performance.

Nope sorry. Just download spare parts and slow down the animations so it don't take off as much.

I've learned that the carousel will only go if you swipe over more than half the screen. As long as you do short swipes it works a lot better.

[Q] Linking To Home Screens

Is there a way to set up shortcuts to link to different home screens?
Say, for example, that I have music widgets on my last home screen. Rather than swiping through all the screens, or previewing them and choosing, is there a way to create a shortcut on my main home screen that I can press to have it jump directly to the screen with the music widgets?
Yes, download adw launcher, when installed, long press home screen, choose option to add 5 shortcuts to five screens.i know only these way.or maybee to modify some codes and transform the home screen dot indicators in button links.

Thanks!
Unfortunately, ADW doesn't allow me to do other things that are essential, so I guess I'll just have to forget about the luxury of linking to other screens. Unless you know how to get the dock horizontal in the latest version and get rid of that menu button in the top corner...

[Q] Vertically scrolling homescreen with dock on the side

First of all, I sincerely apologize if this is the wrong section for such a post.
Basically I trying to setup a homescreen in which part of it can scroll vertically, but another part doesn't move. I currently have Lightning Launcher, which is great by the way, but I can only set it up so that the entire screen scrolls. I was thinking it would be nice for have a spot on the left side of the screen for favorite apps and maybe some widgets (I guess you could call it a "dock"), and on the right side of the screen have a scrolling list of the rest of my applications. Probably with 1/3 of the screen being the left portion and 2/3 being the right portion. Can this be done with Lightning Launcher? or any other launcher? and how?
Anyone?

It can be done with Lightning Launcher.
I am a fan, actually.
First, select the apps you want in the dock.
Then, line them up on one side of the screen.
For each, long press in the new version and select pin.
In the old one, you go to common itms setting or something.
After you pin, you can add a dock by giving the apps backgrounds.

[Q] How to rearrange home screens?

Hey All - I'm trying to move my blinkfeed homescreen as my right-most homescreen. Sense 5 doesn't seem to enable me to rearrange my home screen position... Anyone have a solution for this?
Blinkfeed is defaulted to the left side. You can't move it only the other screens are movable. Yes I know it sucks I already tried.

Ok no big deal that blinkfeed is defaulted to the left side. The issue is that I can't rearrange my other home screens either. If I want to move my home screen over, Id need to drop it and recreate it on a fresh blank screen!
Are you sure you can rearrange your other screens?
You can't rearrange the screens at this time but you can designate any one of the five possible screens as your home screen. I've been running Sense 5 for about a month and I've gotten used to having the left most screen as my homescreen. I'm hoping the Dev community for T-Mobile is as good as those for Sprint. If so, I'm sure there will be a fix that will allow us to have more than 5 screens and give us the option to rearrange them.
Ok thanks guys. I'll have to try it out and see if I can adjust.. I'm use to having my work stuff to on the left screens, my personal stuff on the right screens.
Just hold, then slide your screen up that you want as a "Home" screen (with the added panels/homescreens).

How to add more screens to TouchWiz?

I hope I asked the question right. I've got the home screen and two on either side for a total of five. I know more can be added because apparently I did it once unintentionally before reseting.
Thanks
Press the menu button (or whatever it is, to the left middle button), click "edit page" then the pages come up, theres one with a + in it, click that and it adds a new page.
Or you can pinch like you're zooming out.
