[A] overclock too high set on boot - HTC EVO 3D

Overclock too high and phone crashes? Accidentally hit set on boot and you can't get in to change the frequencies?
Throw it in the freezer for half an hour and try again, worked for me. I was set above 1.9ghz and I thought I was sol and needed to restore (haven't made any backups in a while). Figured I'd give it a shot to keep the CPU/gpu cool, and it booted. I switched the frequency down than and all is well.
I kinda wonder what quadrant scores I would have gotten cooled.

A less dangerous method would be to go into the recovery menu and do a data wipe.

In addition, if you don't want to wipe ALL data settings and apps on the device, wipe the specific data settings for that application.
All apk data settings are stored in /data/data/<package name>. The package name formats follows as something similar to com.joeykrim.flashimagegui , or something of that sort depending on the author of the application.
Hope that helps!

Also if you use SetCPU:
There is
a "safe mode" function that prevents SetCPU from running any tasks during boot if a file called "setcpu_safemode" exists in /sdcard or /data/local. This is useful if unstable settings were saved with "set on boot" checked.

or if you dont want to wipe data you can flash a kernel that doesn't offer oc abilities and then boot your phone back up lower your clock then reflash your old kernel, happened to me before just boot into bootloader goto fastboot hook to pc use command to enter recovery and flash the none over clockable kernel if your using hboot 1.5

HELP: Jumpy/Sporadic Widgets in Overview Mode

I'm not sure why but whenever I flash a GB ROM the widgets in overview mode jump around too much/too fast to the point where I can't even accurately choose which one I want to go to. It's smooth at first after a fresh boot/reboot but as time goes on my overview mode always starts to act crazy no matter which ROM I flash (I've been going back n forth between EWJET and WB and it happens with both of them). Is it possible to get the stock overview mode from GB with the widgets that are static and don't move round like in these custom versions? Any help would be appreciated, this is the only feature I am starting to not like.
I suspect this has to do with the fps unlock. I noticed it worked OK without it.

I didn't even think of that! That does sound like it could be a valid reason. Thanks!
Hey speig, do you know if there's a way to remove the uncap/restore the 30 or 32 (whichever it is) cap? I searched and found a solution in a thread that says to delete some line from a file in root explorer but it's not letting me edit the file, just view it even though I enable all permissions. Thanks in advance if you're able to help!
Scratch that...I was able to use ES file explorer/manager to restore the cap

Is There An APP That You Can Schedule Reboots?

I'm Looking for an app that you can set up a schedule to have your phone reboot at a specific time every day. I know about "Fast Reboot" and those type of apps, but I'm looking for something that fully reboots the phone, hardware and all. Anyone know of an app that does that?
I would think Tasker could probably do it.
I haven't used tasker before and I have read that it is complicated to use so I was hoping for something a little more simple. Plus, I don't really need tasker for anything else so that would be kind of an expensive rebooting app. But I bet your right and that it could do it and thank you for taking the time and giving me your suggestion.
Why woukd you need a reboot app? Just curous
Sent from my Vibrant on Ultimate 2.2.1
I don't need it per say. But I thought it would be nice to have it reboot and be ready in the morning right away. I just reboot my phone every morning and to have it done automatically would be cool. That's all.

Also charging is better with phone off on GB so having the ability to have the phone turn on at a set time would still allow use of an alarm...theoretically anyway. I've actually thought about this but haven't looked into it.

Theres an app out there called PhonePrioritizer....it can perform scheduled reboots using a script. it does work, i used to use it....google it and check it out

Theres no way to have the phone turn on by itself while it is not on...he probably means he just wants his phone to reboot itself like a half hour before he wakes up every morning so its fresh and ready to go, and he has all that nice reboot-RAM to play with.

Thanks, I will check that app out. And yes, you knew exactly what I meant. Thanks, I couldn't think of another way to explain it and you did perfectly.
Titanium Backup would be the easiest way to do it, but you have to back stuff up, which you're probably doing, anyway, right?
I would have paid at least $20 for it, and it's been worth much more to me than that.
You can use Script Manager to write a script that reboot
(Create a Script in your SD card, under the #!/system/bin/sh line just write the word reboot, it should look like this:
#!/system/bin/sh
reboot
)
Afterwards, long hold that script, and then change it so that it Run as root.
DO NOT check the Run at boot, or else it'll infinitely reboot.
then in Script Manager, go to Menu --> Advanced Options --> Scheduler
and then schedule the time you want it to reboot. Then press add script, add that script you just made.

V6 Supercharger script and the MoPho

Simple script to run to maximize the MoPho's RAM usage. **ROOT USERS ONLY**
I take NO credit for this tweak whatsoever, and am simply providing a quick "how-to" of how to run the script for those who have not used it on previous Android devices.
Here's the link to the original thread (in the general section in the MoPho forum), created by member Custodian on 8/11/11. Big thanks to him for that! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212820
First, follow the ongoing development threads to familiarize yourself of what this tweak truly accomplishes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15948434#post15948434
Secondly, follow this how-to, in this order:
1) Download the script of your choice from the second hyperlink above, or from - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=5021
2) Download Script Manager from the Market (free app).
3) Wipe your caches.
4) Open Script Manager, locate the script you dl'd on your SD Card, select "run as root", and DO NOT select "run as boot".
5) Load the script (select 1 or 0 for scrolling speed). It will most likely tell you that you are running too new of a Busybox version, and may experience bootloops. You're fine. Busybox v1.19.2-Stericson runs just fine, no issues.
6) Once script loads, enter selection #9 (Super 1000hp Aggressive mem setting).
7) Enter selection #13 to "bulletproof" your Launcher (helps eliminate risk of having it close during while your mem settings are working)
8) Enter selection #19 for Nitro Lag Nullifer, and install.
9) Enter selection #25 for options. Enter y for build.prop edit.
10) Enter selection #27 to close the script.
Now, reopen Script manager and navigate to the folder /sdcard/V6_SuperCharger. Run the 99SuperCharger.sh script, and select to "run as root", and "run as boot".
Reboot your phone, and you are good to go.
You can create widgets to quickly shift between memory tweaks.
Lastly, you can run the V6 script and select #19 to "flush" your caches and reclaim any lost RAM throughout the day to keep your phone running optimally without having to reboot your phone or "kill" any apps through various task managers. I do this about 1x-2x a day just as habit, but not necessary by any means. (A widget can be created for this too - open Script Manager, and find /data/fast_engine_flush.sh. One click RAM re-claimer!)
That's it. No need for any 3rd party task managers (ATK, Auto Killer, etc.). Just let the script do its thing, and enjoy a lag free MoPho!
this is great - I ran across this the other day - very easy to install and activate - my phone seems to be very reponsive - quite a interesting MOD - thanks for posting!

Just did. I had some weak download speeds at work this morning, only getting to 550kps tops, using the experimental 1 setting doubled my down speed to 1meg.

NICE!
I get crap 3G speed @ work regardless of which 3G script I run (.2-.4 down on avg), but .8-1.0 avg w/ 4G. I didn't realize that it doesn't exactly hurt the battery life tremendously to leave 4G enabled on the MoPho, as it puts itself into a sleep mode when not in use. I'm not sure of the specifics as far as scan/refresh intervals right off hand, but I'm tracking approx 1% of batt. life lost every 10 minutes while the phone is idle and 4G enabled (data disabled, as I'm sure I'd be losing 3-4% batt. life in the same range w/ it enabled w/ 4G).
Dumb question: Anything special I should know to run 3G turbocharger?

Nope. Just run the script and select the option that's best for you and reboot. Test all 4 and the experimentals.
YMMV - not all phones behave the same, and I'm sure 3G gains/losses are still contingent upon your location anyway, so you may experience a boost, a loss or no change at all. Either way, it won't hurt anything to try it.
Now RC2 is out... The best setting for MoPho is option 9+12.... Use build prop option to stick otherwise will not stick after reboot.... V6 default windowsmgr event setting is only 75. If you want better smooth scolling change this line "windowsmgr.max_event_per_sec=75 to 150(got two lines not include original line). Well 3g tweak is depend on your service provider.... test with speed test.net and find which setting is the best for you.

i have both running on my phone and it is pretty fast, i used the experimental #1 for the 3g and i was hitting 1+ meg downloads which is faster than the .48-.75 that i normally get. usually when i open my browser on 3g it takes a while to load even the google homepage but now it pops up as soon as i open the browser no load time same for xda took a while before now it loads really quick almost ike i have 4g on i had to double check and make 4g was the first time i tried it because it was so much faster.
RC3.1 is out already. Looks like there are a bunch of fixes and enhancements.
where do you see the RC3.2?

You'd have to edit the frequency table via an init.d script. 1496 and 1504 mhz are your options (or any other frequency in 8mhz steps). What are you currently using? SetCPU? Voltage Control?

Put this in /system/etc/init.d, remove the file extension from the end of the name, and set the permissions to 755. Since scripts are applied first, during the boot process, it shouldn't interfere with your SetCPU setup. It will merely change the frequency table. You can alter the values as necessary. Get script manager from the market, give the file root access (by hitting the skull right before you run it), and make sure it runs with an exit code of 0. Then open SetCPU and observe the change.
are you on siyah or entropy kernel? It seems entropy's kernel allows a slightly higher overvolt which has allowed me to be stable at 1.6 even though I never use it. Try it out 1550mv seems to work for me.

Whoa. I don't recommend running voltages that high. You'll fry it. I don't overclock for daily use, but I did want to set up my frequency table and voltages so that they're stable if I choose to benchmark or something.
There are A LOT of tweaks that will allow you to improve performance without overclocking, and certainly without going to 1.5 or 1.6. You can lower the sampling rate, lower the up threshold, increase the down differential, increase the sampling down factor, altering hot plug values, etc.
EDIT: Just noticed that you don't run that for an extended period of time.

After you run the script, the app will give an exit code. You don't enter it. If you get an exit code of 0 (near the top, after you run it), then the changes were successfully applied.

Ok, well I'm not sure how to change it. Kcdarookie has an init.d generator (over in the 9100 forums) that'll be able to do it. It's self-explanatory once you open it. After you create it, save it, and follow the same steps (/system/etc/init.d, permissions, etc).

1. Its not set to 1.7ghz as someone posted before... its at 1.2ghz by default
Go to the market and download an app called "No Frills CPU Control"
Then open the app, and change the slider so that the Maximum is where you want it to be (either at 1512ghz at the factory state or 1.78 at the overclocked).
Make sure you accept the Superuser prompt
Then make sure the "Set at boot" setting is checked
Close out of the app, and reboot. it should set your processor to the desired speed every time you boot now.
2. Go to Settings > Storage > Advanced (in the top right, the 3 squares) and then click on Computer Connection. Then check the first option (Media Device).

Up to 1786 MHz its fine and stable. It will use more battery though.
I say stick with 1.5, Im running it at 1.1*something and it runs smooth even at that clock speed. As said before, just make sure you check the box for MTP mode in the Storage category in the settings. And for me, I had to disable ADB mode in Settings >> Developer Options >> Android Debugging for it to connect properly at my work pc. You may not need to do that though.
