[Q] Not happy Optus "My Account" not working - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Not sure if this is an isolated issue or not .. but it appears as though on my Samsung Galaxy Ace; The Optus "My Account" app has been installed as a system application. Upon opening it Responds somewhere along the lines of "This service will be available soon".
I have tried clearing the applications data and installing the apk downloaded from the Optus site (which fails because its already installed) I believe you can get the link to download by SMS'ing "myaccount" to 966.
As a result of it being "system" it does not offer the "uninstall" option from "Manage Applications" and I am unable to update it (it is apparently already the latest version). It really is strange because it works fine on my Galaxy S.
Seems like whoever setup the phone did it incorrectly or something. (It came pre-installed)
Optus' Technical Advice is to Send it in for Repair (wtf) Thanks guys(!)
It's running the latest (AFAIK) Android software base available for the Galaxy Ace v2.3.5
Any ideas on how to fix this problem myself **without** rooting it

No rooting ? Good luck .
Edit: try adb
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App

Just an update to this and it can be closed now. Optus released an app called "My Optus" which works on the phone. Took them long enough! I will never understand why they don't give users the option to uninstall their market available apps. It's extremely frustrating and annoying.

[Q] may have a possible virus

I rooted installed clockwork and then began the process of installing a team whiskey rom. when i noticed that i no longer had access to the app market. I have some sort of purgatory market that shows test apps and none of them seem to work.
So I installed Odin and was going to unroot and flash back to Stock Vibrant rom but the phone isnt syncing. so I installed Kies still nothing.
Then it was suggested that I use a Dial code started with *2.......*.... something. which wiped all my apps and gave me a stock phone with no terminal access.
So I dl terminal access apk's (tried two) they install but wont open.
I can still make calls and browse the net and whatnot but wheres the fun in that. About at my whitts end here fellas. I think I may have a virus. how do I fix it
Have you tried going to:
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> The "All" tab -> select "Market" -> press "Clear Data" (you might have to force stop it before this step)
I tried a bunch of things in the settings... manage applications you suggested but I don't have a tab feature you mention.

In manage applications along the top it should say:
"Third Party"
"Running"
"All" <- select this one
Then scroll down to "Market", click it and clear the data.
I read about this some where and I'm sorry but I don't have the link. But this person was having close, if not exactly, the same problem and found it was due to some change in the IEMI code. This guy said he had backed his up so it was easy to fix. But the point is that your IEMI code is part of what is used to determine what should be shown to you in the market, at least that is my understanding, so you should verify that yours is correct. I hope this helps. If not then sorry I made you waste your time, but good luck.

I tried the *#06# to compare the imei code with what is printed on the phone and they dont match.

[Q] Another Market problem

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post here so I apologize if this i s the wrong section. The problem is simple, I rooted my phone and installed a different firmware version which already had the market as a stock app (before I couldn't connect to the market). Now I can connect and browse but apps are stuck at starting "downloading". I searched on the forum, I contacted the android market guys but nothing seems to work.
Here's a list of all the things I've already done with no result whatsoever:
Sign in and out of Google Talk repeatedly to restore connection to google servers (google talk or gmail don't give me any problem)
Ensure there is enough space on device for the app to install
Reboot device
Confirm there is strong connectivity on device, and contact mobile service provider
Try download(s) using both WiFi and network (3G/4G) connections
Unmount and remount the SD card
Cleared Market, Download Manager and Google Services Framework cache and data
CheckedIunchecked/rechecked background data, auto-sync, date and time settings
installed oldmarket app and tried using market older version
installed 3.20 market version (I had 3.15)
factory reset and reinstalled the firmware (and went through all the steps again)
went to samsung center to see if there was something wrong with the device
Does anyone have any ideas about how to solve this? It's really frustrating and it's starting to get on my nerves quite a bit.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Im having the same problems. I've even updated to 3.1.6 and still same problems. Android market is slow and I have to try 20 times to go to my app list and do an update.
...anyone?
any ideas at all?
Have you tried to flash any other type of ROM as well as different Radio nor Kernel?
Meanwhile if you need to install an app, you could do it from your computer browser via market, while you find out a solution to solve this problem.
Normally what I do is simply clear the market and google frameworks cache and data, but seems like for you is not working.
At this point must be a radio issue or a ROM issue.
Same problem anyone got solution ?
Have u guys tried Market Enabler? Sometimes it works for me.

i tried installing to the new market, but the problem persisted.

[Q] ""App name" could not be downloaded due to an error (-101)"????
Hi, I have a TF101 now running krakd and a t-mobile g2x running miui
Yesterday, i did a wipe and flash krakd 1.4.2 on my tf101 (was from revolver). Then i signed in with my google account as usual. However, when i tried to download apps from the market, it says: ""App name" could not be downloaded due to an error (-101)".
Then, I checked my phone, which is still running miui, suddenly, it could not download apps from market either. (. The thing is that I have not flashed anything on my phone lately.
I created another google account and it works perfectly on the tf101. But when there are two accounts at the same time (on the tf101), it still does not let me download apps.
So I think this must be some kind of issue with my google account because it affected my phone as well
Please let me know if there is anything I could do. Cuz I use my gmail. I dont want to make a new email account. that sucks
Thanks so so much
I also faced the same issue when i flashed a new rom on my t-mobile g2. after the first boot, it started downloading all the apps that i had previously installed. and after some time I started getting this error. googled it a bit and discovered that its because google has some unspecified limit of data that you can download from the market on a given day (24 hours). you should be able to download apps again after the 24hr cycle completes
try clearing cache as well data of market in manage applications in settings menu

[Q] Google Play / Play Store Server Error

Hello Comunity,
I flashed ICS on my SGSII like 1 or 2 weeks ago it was working great, even Android Market updated to Play Store and it was working OK.
My SGSII is International Version, not locked. It's not rooted. Bought in Dubai, got to change the Sales Code to UK (UAE was not available since it was a European ROM?) when I flashed with the ICS.
Last night (23rd March 2012) I was trying to download some free apps from Play Store App and it was displaying Error -101, for several attempts and for different apps. Keep in mind that yesterday I did not use Play Store, also the system did not update anything during the day.
Tried Clearing cache and data of Google Play/Market.
I got the screen that says Android Market is upgrading to Google Play.. blah blah blah.. press continue
But then after that now Play Store is not connecting, it says Server Error, with a Retry Button.
Tried again Clearing cache and Data... no success. Same Server Error.
Restarted the phone... no success. Same Server Error.
Tried deleting my google account and enter it again... no success... and guess what? Same Server Error.
This started approx @ 1900-2000 GMT +3. Let's see if tonight it fix by itself (but I don't think so, since the 24 hrs ban due to excess downloading from the Store is dismissed).
Any ideas how to solve this?
I was having this problems yesterday (Friday). So I cleared data on Play Store app, deleted market links with Ti. Then I rebooted & used the Market Doctor in Ti to restore those links, then rebooted again.
Decided to leave it overnight before I gave the Market another try, and I've just tried it now. No problems at all updating apps (not getting that 101 error), and apps are correctly linked to Market again; have all my apps in installed/updated (before I did that thing with Ti yesterday, Market had nothing in "installed", everything was in "All").

Excuse my ignorance, but what is Ti?
Titanium Backup Pro It has market tools which can come in handy. Not saying it will definitely fix your problem (or that it definitely fixed mine; may have been coincidence), but it might.

Not yet... I just downloaded Ti apk and patcher, but I will need to root my phone... I just don't want to switch to the Dark Side. I'll wait until tonight to root it, or maybe when I get home (April) since I'm overseas and I don't want to lose the only Communication Tool (My precious SGSII) that I have to contact home. Need to read a lot 'bout rooting.
As soon as it's fixed will let you now in this thread.
Yep let us know how you go with it. That way we can confirm whether what I did yesterday fixes this problem or not. Good luck
Edit to add - Almost forgot. If you do use the market tools in Ti, only use them for user apps & not system apps.

I already rooted my phone, so i used the "advance task killer" and kill all pps and somehow I got it working again. But I know this is a galaxy SII section but I just wanted to let you know my galaxy tab 10.1 still have the same issue. server error with the retry button. I used something closed to advance task killer but still didn't work. So bottom line, I still don't know how to resolve this problem. Looking forward to what you can come up with.
I have same Server Error on my both Galaxy Note and Motorola Razr.I tried everything including Factory reset but still same issue.
It seems that google needs to setp in and fix this issue.

Mmm, I'm using WIFI in this country. I tried two different ISP (in the same country) and the problem is still there.
By the way, when I flashed to the ICS, changed the Sales Code from UAE to UK (using the numpad with the IMEI thing)... If I do it again, is not the same thing? for example from UK to Poland somewhere in Europe (since the ICS flash is Europe)...
Thanks dude...

Been having the 'Server Error - RETRY' issues for the past 2 days and even tried manually installing the latest play store 3.5.15 with no luck.
Changed to US - Verizon using Market Enabler and all was well, was able to launch Play Store and update my applications... well all expcept Root Explorer which was giving a download failed error, but i'm sure I'll get this going shortly.

If you said you 'flashed' to ICS... you may not be too far away from rooting.
Visit ChainFire's thread to find a suitable insecure kernel, i used CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.zip (post #8) and be sure to read the 1 line of instruction in post #1 - ODIN (short).

Guys, I had the same problem for 24 hours and believed me, I tried everything that has been suggested by this thread but it didn't do anything. Somehow I got everything up and running on its own. I truly believe it was a problem from the google side. So I guess, you just have to wait until they fix the server.
Cheers.
Glad that ME worked for u.
It seams that there is no Root Explorer app in US market... Not sure if its deleted from market.

bojancincur You are a genius!!!.
I did the VPN thing and it worked!!!! Right now updating AndroZip File Manager XD
Thank you.
When I read your blog, I was going to connect to my company VPN through Juniper's Network connect and share the internet connection from my laptop to the SGSII.
How to know which market my phone is connecting to?
Is it, by deault, connecting to the country assigned in the Sales Code?
But stop working once you disconnect from the VPN. I think I will change the Sales Code once I get home (since it involves a data wipe)

[Q] Directory Bind with Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hi there,
After screwing up my Samsung S3 and until I can somehow get it fixed, I am seriously considering purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but really 'only' if I am able to successfully root it and able to run ''Directory-Bind' on it as I do on my S3 now. Could I get a thumbs up here that Directory-Bind is compatible with a Galaxy Note 3 running Android 4.3, or if if it's not compatible, a suitable alternative, as I want to be able to mount an external SD card and run apps/games from that, as I do now with my S3. If Directory-Bind isn't compatible with, can someone please name me a good suitable alternative that is?
As usual, if this question has been answered previously, my apologies.
Thanks in advance.

I'm in the UK and rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) well over a year ago, using, the CF Root method from these very forums.
All had been working just fine until about a week ago, when I (stupidly) installed an apk that was 'supposed' to add KitKat features to my stock 4.1.2 ROM. It was from this article "http://androidcritics.com/get-android-4-4-kit-kat-android-devices/" that I installed two of the provided apk's, namely 'Google Home' and 'Google Velvet' (an apk that claimed to add 'Google Now' features to my ICS ROM). Now, I so regret taking the risk of installing those two apk's, as now, as soon as my SGS3 has booted up and detected the 64GB SD Card (running with Directory Bind), I get a message that states 'Unfortunately Google Search has stopped'. When I try to open Google Search, it says unable to load data, and trying to run Google Play now always says 'No Connection, retry?' All was fine before I installed those 2 apk's. Even when I try to download something via the Play Store in Firefox on my PC and try to send that to my SGS3, that now fails too. In-game purchases won't connect either (No Connection, again) I'm really confused, because some apps connect to the Internet via WiFi, such as Dolphin Browser,Yahoo Mail and facebook; but, ANYTHING to do with Google, including GMail seems not to or just plain won't connect, although Google maps does connect.
After this problem started, I immediately, using Odin 3 v1.85, successfully flashed my SGS3 with CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar, but that has made absolutely no difference and has fixed nothing. My phone is way past its warranty, so getting it fixed by Samsung is out of the question, and my only (hopeful) solution is to ask you guys for a working fix/solution, please?
I've connected my SGS3 to the latest version of Samsung KIES (via USB) on my PC and KIES states there is a software update for my phone available (it doesn't however mention what the software update is or what for), but it says I may lose data on my phone, and I don't want to lose my data and settings; so, somehow, I'm going to need to make some kind of backup, yes? What would be the best application for backing up my internal SD to my PC, as I unfortunately don't even have space on my PC's HDD to make a backup of that at this time.
My SIII states there are 600 installed applications (of which the vast majority still function just fine, except some that need to connect to the net via WiFi (some will and some now won't)), that I really haven't got the time or energy to reinstall all of them again, so can someone please point me in the direction or post(s), explaining the best way to back up my internal memory and settings (I don't have the HDD space to back up the entire data contents of apps on my external SD card at the moment, so I'm guessing backing up the internal 11GB will save all the relevant data I need). I'm sure backing up like this has been covered in a separate post, so any pointers to those posts would be useful, thanks.
But the most important thing for me at the moment are to get my Google Services and Wi-Fi issues fixed.
One last problem.....When I try to open Applications Manager in Settings, it stays open for about 10 seconds then force-closes. I'm guessing that having the high number of installed apps n games installed is causing this, is it? Because of this, I don't seem to be able to delete the davik cache on things like Google Play, etc.
I've managed to reset (global) App preferences in Applications Manager, but that's as far as I can get in there before it force-closes itself.
I've tried logging on to YouTube, using my regular Google account, but nothing happens.....I don't get it. Would I need to remove my regular Google account from my phone and then fill it in again??
I even reinstalled Google Play (Playstore v4.0.27.apk) and Google Search, but both still don't connect to the Net.
If you have any other questions regarding my problems) or need any more details from me, to help with a solution to these problems, then please go ahead and ask me. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to put is as much detail about my problems as I could.
Many thanks in advance, sincerely, Al."
Briefly, the problem is, I tried installing a couple of APK's on my rooted 4.1.2 Samsung Galaxy S3 that were supposed to install Google Now. They pretty much did that, and it's working, but it has screwed up just about everything else Google-related, including Gmail (just always force-closes), Google Play (won't connect), Now, when I try to log into my Google account on my S3 (with my correct email and password), I always get the message "Couldn't sign in - Can't establish a reliable connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care."
This was never a problem before since I removed my Google account from my S3 and tried to add it again, in order to try to fix the problems with Google Plat and Gmail. Now, Google Plus doesn't work too.
Everything else, all apps n games, including Wi-Fi connection to my router work just fine, except connection to the Play store and trying to update or add apps to my S3 via my PC.
I've been told to download an original stock 4.1.2 ROM in zip format and stick it on my external SD card, but I have yet to find exactly where to find a stock 4.1.2 ROM in zip format in order to put it on my external SD card - any pointers would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I hope this covers everything for a minute.
Cheers, Al
