[Q] Please confirm... will flashing generic ROM screw up my AZERTY keyboard layout? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi folks,
someone considered an 'authority' on the SE forum told me here to go on and flash the Global Generic firmware on my phone, to get rid of branding. He confirmed that I should not lose my AZERTY hardware keyboard.
This goes contrary to how I believe hardware keyboards work. (which is, that they're all the same except that they look differently on the outside, and that the translation from button 1 to A or Q is done by a keyboard driver; and that the Global Generic will not know that my keyboard is supposed to be AZERTY and therefore I'll lose hardware keyboard functionality)
Am I right or am I wrong?

I've been doing a little digging on my own, and yes...
Your keyboard will be messed up, but there are answers to it.
And as i'm from the same country as you are
I can confirm it's a pain in the ass to get it all working..

Thanks Raph4,
I found another post of you where you linked to quite a number of ftf files. Do you have a source of these? I'm interested in knowing more about the region codes (trying to compile a list for people who wish to edit their build.prop to force OTA or SEUS updates instead of using 3rd party tools)
In any case, I'll add the region codes you posted there to my thread here.

x10 mini pro aabic harware keybroard

hi
does any one know if the x10 mini pro available with a arabic hardware keyboard in the middle east.
in arab countries normaly the key pads have the arabic letters on them.
i live in uk.
.
If you find anything please post an update.
On my minipro there is no Arabic text support, which is annoying for some of my work emails. I think once rooted we may be able to install fonts / language packs / etc to remedy that.
UPDATE: Sorry I forgot to say, there are some places on Edgware Road in London that do a button printing service and can label the buttons professionally with Arabic letters - but you will need a confirmed key map first unless they already have one (which is unlikely since it's so new).

[Q] Arabic support problem for the Razr?

I have currently installed Smart Keyboard Pro and have the English and Arabic languages enabled for this keyboard. When I type in Arabic the words are disconnected. For example when I mean to type something like this مرحبا it comes out like this م رح ب ا all the letters are disconnected.
Is there a solution for this? My Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc supports the Arabic language correctly I was hoping this would as well. Also if it matters I am using the GSM Rogers version.
Thank you for your help.
Here in middle east, the rom is modified to be compatible with Arabic and Persian. You may want to find and download the middle eastern rom. That works perfectly fine for me.
Why couldn't Motorola just give us an option? That is pretty stupid of them. Is there any file or application I can use to give me the same functionality? I don't want a to put a new rom on my phone just yet.
Motorola doesn't give a f*ck about localization in android. We as Turkish have the exact problem when it comes to native language support. I even started a thread in official motorola supportforums, their moderators just ignored our concerns and didn't even care to give an answer.

The thing that I find strange is that they can clearly do it if its available in the Middle-eastern regions. Why not just put the option in the other models as well.
I heard android 4.0 has native support for Arabic and other RTL languages, Could it be supported then?
I just bought the Rogers RAZR and now I'm debating grabbing the Galaxy Nexus instead.
Easy
Root your razr and get the arabic room by recovery

[Q] Using German phone in the UK

Hi. I bought a Desire-X in Germany last week because I just happened to be there.
However, when trying to set it up, I was shocked to see there are only locales for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Even though the English language support is there, it's not for "English (United Kingdom)" which means that I can't get the right locale and right keyboard.
I can download some app such as "More locales 2" or similar and get the locale, but the keyboard is QWERTZ rather than QWERTY, so I also need a keyboard. I'd like to use the "standard" keyboard as it uses a lot less screen space than some of the others.
Can anyone suggest anything? If you know of a good app that gives me the locales and a decent, compact keyboard, please let me know.
Or...am I able to flash a UK ROM to the device? Or...maybe even a custom ROM that's already Jelly Bean??
Thanks.

Check your phone CID ("fastboot getvar cid" (usb), or download and install cidGetter (Play))
if HTC__102 or similar make a goldcard and reflash your phone with factory RUU (HTC_001)
regards
Hmmm. Not sure I quite know what to look for in the mass of stuff (that can't be copy/pasted!) from cidGetter! Or even what making a goldcard is about, but I can probably Google that much somewhere.
Should there be a CID line somewhere in the cidGetter dump?

[Q] AOSP Keyboard Dictionaries

Hello.
I am facing a great problem with AOSP keyboard dictionaries. I am hoping to use AOSP keyboard with my own language (malay) and therefore I also require the spell check to work with it.
With my current Cyanogenmod ROM, I cannot seems to be able to correct any of my spelled Malay words; presumably, there aren't any dictionary of it.
Concerned, I tried to use France as the language, shocked, the spell-checker works with France. So, this made my guess about the missing dictionary a possible-true thing. Add-on dictionaries is "empty" and also I cannot find a way to add any dictionaries.
As I am rooted, are there any ways I can force add the malay dictionary?
I am thinking of finding the English UK dictionary and translate it by-hand (working hard for it) and then put it back onto the system. Anyone who can guide me with this?
Ironically, changing CM's main language into "Bahasa Melayu" or Malay seems to work. I am not so sure why it doesn't on AOSP keyboard.
One thing to note, please don't recommend me installing another keyboard. No, I just want to stick with the mighty low resource fast and trustful stock keyboard.
Device Specs for someone who needs it:
- Xperia SP C5303
- Cyanogenmod 11 Kitkat (which is 4.4.4) nightly
- of-course prerooted (it's CM)
Thank you so much in advance if you are looking forward to help me Have a nice day.
Hello. I understand that one would not automatically gets reply on the forums, but doesn't there be anyone who at least know little about this matter?
Bumping this up
Last bump before I bump again a month later
Bump!! Abandoned for a month but I really still need a workaround for this.
one last sweet bump
It is most likely that the AOSP keyboard just doesn't have that language built in and as most aosp apps are left for dead by Google it would take someone to manually add the code into the AOSP keyboard on the source level. Just because the the main language changes doesn't mean the keyboard has the language.

Hardware Keyboard Layout issue

Hi. I'm swedish and have since the update to Android 11 with OneUI3.1 noticed that no keyboard layout with changes to the non letter keys work. Dvorak, colemak and AZERTY and the like seem to work though.
