NEWS: Samsung Has 16 Free Games Ready for Galaxy Phone Users - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

'To help make you excited about buying a Galaxy-branded Android phone and encourage use of its Samsung Apps channel, Samsung is giving away up to 16 games through the pre-loaded Samsung Apps… app.
What games you can have depends on your phone. Galaxy S II and Note users benefit the most, with the full list of 16 games available on their devices. Such titles as Air Penguin, Air Attack HD, Riptide GP, European War, Trial Xtreme and Roboto are included, most of which are paid releases that cost a quid or two to buy on the Android Market.
If you went a bit mad in the spring and bought a Galaxy Ace, there’s only one freebie on offer to compound your misery — Air Penguin.
The availability of titles will also vary by region, so you’re basically about to embark upon a free game lottery. Refresh your Samsung Apps app to see what Santa Samsung has for you.'

Gameloft games question

Hello I have an xperia play and bought some games on Gameloft. So just wandering if it's possible to transfer the same games to use on my galaxy, or I have to purchase the games again.? Also its not very clear which games actually work on the galaxy, the game hub only has a phew games that cannot be it surely.?
I'm probably not qualified to answer this, but I'll give it a stab - assuming you brought them through the Android Market, they're associated with your Google account and you can install them on other devices without having to re-purchase them.
Simply add your Google account to the new phone, go to the "My Apps" page and you find them in your list of Purchased but not installed software.

Gameloft are greedy. The games are imei locked and device specific. So you need to wait for sgs2 compatible games, and repurchase them afaik
I don't approve of their business model, so I simply don't buy or use Gameloft games. They could put games on market, but they would only sell it once per person...
I think it's that greed that forces piracy to prosper honestly I don't support piracy but imagine i already paid over 25 £ to Gameloft and they now want me to pay another 25£ imagine. No wander why the iphone itunes model is much better and android is way to fragmented.

I wouldn't necessarily blame this on android fragmentation..
I'd point the finger more towards the greedy companies, like gameloft, for making their games in such a way that it encourages "fragmentation".
I mean half the arguments against Android are actually based on the companies that provide apps and software, not the android platform itself...
Just my two cents.
Back on topic:
But you gotta admit, gameloft games are pretty damn good.. if not a bit overpriced due to the incompatibility issues..

If you e-mail them they will usually just send you the correct version for your new phone, their customer service is usually pretty good, I've never had to buy the same game again for another device, at least not yet.

There are no versions available via the website and GT-i9100 is not listed yet, you can currently only get them via the Games Hub and some of them look like cut down versions of the games, blocky textures and poor draw distance.
Hi
I bought over 15 gameloft games for my Galaxy S1. I have got now S2 and NONE of those I bought work ( I always save original donwloaded .apk) I emailed gameloft saying as well I can't even access their site as I'm getting NOT RECOGNIZED warning so as soon as I got update I will post it here.

It uses a different GPU to the Galaxy S so it's not likely to work, they will have to release versions for the Galaxy S2, once they do they will probably send you the updated apks if you tell them you changed your phone.
It's a shame Samsung didn't choose to go with the latest PowerVR GPU as that would have made things allot easier, Mali 400MP in the Galaxy S2 does not support some texture compression formats some developers are using so that will also cause problems.
Of course if they just stuck to the OpenGL ES 2.0 specs to start with we wouldn't have this problem.
Hi and thanks a lot for explanation. It is real shame and I hope this amazing phone won't be suffering of too many uncompatible games as that would damaged it's great potential. It is fast like a wind and I can't wait for some polished custom roms like last Darky's 10.6 by which I was really impressed on my Galaxy 1

[Q] Warcraft 3/ Dota port android?

How many people have heard of the game called dota. It is a map on warcraft 3 frozen throne.
Info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_of_the_Ancients
Defense of the Ancients (commonly
known as DotA) is a custom scenario
for the real-time strategy video
game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
and its expansion, Warcraft III: The
Frozen Throne, based on the "Aeon
of Strife" map for StarCraft. The
objective of the scenario is for each
team to destroy the opponents'
Ancients, heavily guarded structures
at opposing corners of the map.
Players use powerful units known as
heroes, and are assisted by allied
heroes and AI-controlled fighters
called "creeps". As in role-playing
games, players level up their heroes
and use gold to buy equipment
during the mission.
Defense of the Ancients pits two teams of
players against each other: the Sentinel and
the Scourge. Players on the Sentinel team are
based at the southwest corner of the map,
and those on the Scourge team are based at
the northeast corner. Each base is defended
by towers and waves of units which guard the
main paths leading to their base. In the center
of each base is the "Ancient", a building that
must be destroyed to win the game. Each human player controls one Hero, a
powerful unit with unique abilities. In DotA,
players on each side choose one of 104 heroes,
each with different abilities and tactical
advantages over other heroes. The
scenario is highly team-oriented; it is difficult
for one player to carry the team to victory
alone. Defense of the Ancients allows up to
ten players in a five-versus-five format and an
additional two slots for referees or observers,
often with an equal number of players on each
side.

sorry had to post this in a dota thread
if im not wrong warcraft 3 does not take up too much memory. Maybe with the devs magical fingers it will happen.
I have an idea. Maybe the devs could create a software that would open warcraft 3 maps, wc3 files. Then we could replace the maps with whatever we wanted to play. This coulde be easier than porting the whole game in one app.

: ) Developed by my fellow countrymen. : )
Without source you would either need to emulate Warcraft 3 (insanely slow performance) or write a complete replacement from scratch (insanely long development time)
Without Blizzard doing it themselves or releasing Warcraft 3's source, it won't happen.
Warcraft 3 take arround 250 - 300+ MB of RAM so....
I am sure if that was ported to tablet the memory will be slightly reduced but... really not sure about "now" if it's possible
beware the specs said oftenly RAM 1GB or else on the phone, tablets... but in real... it's
1GB - OS ram usage - application ... means often you got barelly 30-40% of what you read on the paper.
But still if that will be... then I will be happy to play on a tablet
So many good memories playing dota will have to keep an eye on this one but definitely not holding my breath.
Might become more likely when google moves to x86
what happened this game.. update please....

Shadowgun on GS2? Mali-400 fast but not compatible with the best games?

Hello to all the XDA community.
The following post is for those who do not feel as comfortable with the galaxy s2 device, with its Mali-400 graphics chip, although the chip itself is very powerful not provide all the features to play the most beloved games in the today. Among those who find: Sprinkles, shadowgun etc etc.
In my opinion, the cell is very fast and I really like the screen, but unfortunately when I take the iPhone 4 of my girlfriend i want to have it for me, because although the chip A4 already has more than a year now can run games that Mali -400 could not run, it's very stressful having to root your phone to play with chainfire3D, only a few games.
I ..... loving samsung galaxy line. This phone will definitely change for the iphone 5
Why? it seems unfair that i have a cell phone much better than the iphone 4 but unable to play most of the best games.

Okay.
Don't buy something unless you know what you're buying. You're gonna be real disappointed when you buy a car and then find out that it doesn't fly or make you bacon.
You're not gonna get much help here, coming into an Android forum and telling us that our phone can't do something an iPhone can. It's not conducive to helpful responses, as it sounds like trolling and is a pointless statement.
It's because game developers are not using industry standard filtering and texture compression for the games. Mali 400 supports industry standards only, so when a game uses a propriety Nvidia or Power vr or whatever branded code, it won't work because to support the code, you need to pay licensing fees to have the hardware support the code.
This is Sprinkle on my SGS 2, yes, i'm playing an NVIDIA TEGRA ******G GAME while I'm recording a video with screencaster, try to do this with an iPhone mate

It does take a nice amount of ****tardation not to realize that iOS is a better platform for games. Next time you'll look more closely before you throw your money on something: don't blame Samsung/Android, blame yourself. Now bye.

Really? Is it stressful?
You should put more effort into deciding what devices are right for you before buying them...
Aside from the GS2 being arguably the best phone available right out of the box for everything aside from tegra-optimised games (which as others have stated is due to developer's lack of support for industry standards used by the GS2 rather than the other way around)... Like most android devices it's most suited to those who like to tinker and customise.
Buy an iPhone 5.

Yes I was dissapointed that my car didn't make my bacon.
Maybe I should have went to XDcAr and read up on it first to find out that my car could not do it before I bought it.
My car does fly (at an altitude of 0.01mm) - but only where there is no speed cameras about.
OP,I feel ya.When I bought my GS2 I was really disappointed that it didn't make coffee.I called Samsung to solve my problem, but they insulted me.They were very rude man. They told me "Go buy a f*cking coffee machine!".But I bought the best phone available! Can't I do it with an app?
Seriously, although that was a terrible joke, what did you expect man?Nothing is perfect, get over it.My PC can't play Final Fantasy XIII.AND it doesn't support something like Chainfire3D to play PS3 games(**** if it did ).Get over it.Even if you want games that much, there are gazillions of nice games in the Android Market, and more are bound to come. And with the success of the GS2 it's only bound to get better.Just get the heck over it.
Dont entirely blame it on a device for your shortcomings also. Learn to accept some of the blame and you are on your way to maturity.

oh come on peeps why all the harsh replys!!!
he asked a decent question , yes its easy to say if you wanted games buy an iphone4 , at the same time it is still a decent question .
its a shame that the mali is getting left out the cpu/gpu combon on the sgs2 is immense and very very powerfull it would be great to have games like the one linked avalible
i knew the sgs2 wouldnt have every iphone game but when i see games like this i do think , my phone could run this easy and i wouldnt mind playing it , whas wrong with that and asking why the sgs2 doesnt have games like this
maybe it isnt as easy to code for?? we have over 10 million sgs2 users now so the market is there , is it devs being lazy and not porting it , is it hard to port things to the mali , from chainfire 3-d it doesnt seem like its hard to apply stuff to get games working that are coded for say nvidia but what about how hard it is for gameloft to make these games for the mali
to the op , dont worry about some of the negative awnswers i thought it was a decent question and i do think its a shame the mali is being left out a bit when it is soooooo dam good with soooooooooo many users worldwide
have a good day everyone and maybe try to be a bit nicer to fellow users , treat others as you wish to be treated springs to mind as does if you have nothing nice to say maybe dont say anything 2 pages of people taking the mick out of the op for asking a sensible question and saying things like ''my sgs2 wont make coffee'' is just a bit out of order really and isnt anything like what he was saying

hello to everyone.
Sorry if I offended, some of the users that have this phone.
is not my intention to devalue the SG2, but actually I think that to be the best phone should support any things without any problem, maybe it's difficult because different graphics chip, ATI may start manufacturing their own as well. possibly be deciding whether Nvidia or ATI.
the cell phone itself is very fast and the screen size is the maximum that I would buy for a smarphone to me is very good
If you wanted to phone Mainly for games, you got an iPhone Should Have.
I think all cell phone makers have to have this in their creations, to avoid incompatibility and make users
samsung unfortunately not put the grates 2 in the SG2, definitely would be a very good phone for games too.
but really do not see it? A4 over a year on the market and is still compatible with current games.
many people have the SG2, samsung should invest money so we can play these lines did not sell many games SG2?

Well,I don't think anyone here was actually offended, nor do I think that anyone tried solely to insult you. It's just a matter of asking credible things.Whatever the iPhone is,its architecture and the software it supports haven't changed much(If at all) since the first iPhone.Every version follows the same principles, uses hardware of the same "Family" (eg PowerVR GPUs),so whatever new comes out for a new iDevice,it will instantly become available for its older bretheren.Android is different.I don't think that it will be long before you see this kind of games on the GS2 if you ask me,so in my opinion you should just keep the better device.Guess which one solves the "X=Win" equation.
Kind enough for everyone here?

Shogun: bullet hell shooter

I play many games on my galaxy note and for some reason this game has really brought out the inner competitive gamer in me.
So as of now shogun is a featured game on the Google play store. What's unique about this game is that its f-in intense. Its a hardcore bullet hell shoot em up with alot going on, & plenty of action.
What makes this game really good for the note though is how the s-pen can be used to control the ship. Not only does it feel extremely natural, but it makes this game far easier than using a finger. This allows you to have very precise control, and give you the advantage over other players on other devices for leaderboard purposes. I highly recommend this game to everyone with a note.

I've played Homerun Battle 3D on both the Galaxy S2 and my Prime. What I like most about this game is being able to battle others from around the world online and acquiring better gear as you get better.

If you don't mind a baseball game that looks a little cartoony, Baseball Superstars 2011 (Paid version) is your best bet (I would say 2012, but the "freemium" nature is a bit annoying, though I would say I played an entire season and didn't need to buy anything).
The game is surprisingly deep (lots of options and strategy), and really fun to play. You can play the quick games if you want to avoid training, etc
I'm going to add my opinion on this. For a true, manager, pitching/batting team experience, baseball superstars 2011 or 2012. For an arcade, with buying uniforms, DeMarini (Vexxum, CF4/CF5, M2M, Vendetta), Voodoo etc. go for Homerun Battle 3D .... you can play users all over the world. I've played that for the last 1.5 years, recently i moved to Homerun Battle 2, which adds more batting options, characters (you can be a woman), stadiums to play at (outer space, hell, island) and different levels of attaining gold balls (you can play Duel, Survival where your health drops down and you pick which type of ball to throw to your opponent and try to get your health to the top, and Mission mode where you can play 4 other players at the same time and you have to win a certain "mission", say, hit 6 homeruns without a strike). You can also play single player in HB2 and there is a new option as well called "Burning" which will give your thumb pads a workout after playing 5 minutes (mine went numb).
Homerun Battle 3d was my favorite for years now. Both HB3D and HB2 have trial modes so you can play them before you buy
The best one is the one missing the Yankees.
