Best Buy Pre-Orders 11/30-12/4 ship confirmation? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Other threads are too cluttered. We know a lot of shipments yesterday were from 11/22-11/29 mostly if not all in grey. Please only post in this thread if you've gotten shipping confirmation between 11/29-12/04 and so on... Thanks.

Doesn't another thread about a topic that's already open clutter the forum in general? This should be discussed in the other Bestbuy pre-order thread, even if it's cluttered and off topic.

I say we close them all and start from scratch. And I am only half joking JD

[Q] Where are they pulled from

I was wondering if someone knew off the top of their head where text under icons on the notification pull down come from. Are they hard code or pulled from a sys var. I want to delete them. If they are code in a file what is the file name?
I have looked in a few files and I have either missed it or have not looked in the right file yet. My eyes are going cross from reading hex code.
Thanks
It's within the twframework-res.apk. I have forgotten which xml though.
Questions of this nature should be asked in Q&A section.
good day.

Thanks. I'll go through there again.
I was going to put it in the Q&A but its not a general question. Since it is about dev. I went ahead and put it here. Sometime its hard to decide where to post a question.
Thanks again

He needed to do it because you obviously still believed that this question belonged in the development forum. It doesn't, as pointed out without any flaming and in a totally innocuous way. As far as I can tell the only one who needs to grow up here is you.
You made a mistake, instead of defending that mistake in the face of irrefutable proof that you are wrong, just admit it and move on. You only make yourself seem more ignorant when you get upset that people are doing their best to keep posts where they belong. Your question was a good one, just please post it in the correct board next time so we can keep the development board open for development topics.
Nothing against you man, just really getting tired of people getting so pissed off when someone tells them they are in the wrong section.
I agree, my post was in the wrong section. I thanked chopper for pointing out where I should have put it. I went back and went over ashasaur's new posting rules and saw the section he posted way before BrwnSuperman posted it.

Agreed. You didn't and I did by snapping at ya. For that I will say sorry.
I should have went over the new rules again since it had been awhile since my last post.
Just do what I, and many others here have done.. stop posting on XDA. It seems no matter where you post nowadays, it's the wrong section.
A development section where you can't talk about development, only announce your releases, which you must know how to do on your own, since you can't ask questions. But no app or theme releases, those go somewhere else where you can't talk about themes or apps. General, where you can't ask questions, only state factual things about anything not having to do with development, or apps, or themes, or other phones, or anything having to do with issues with your phone, especially your battery life, or a development release not working correctly, or anything somewhat resembling a request for an expert opinion, such as a release date.
In short, the rules here could easily be shortened to:
Don't post anywhere about anything. Welcome to XDA.
Caution: This post may be moved shortly, as it contains a welcome to a fellow XDA member, which may require it's placement in the XDA member chat section, or general, seeing as there are no questions, or Q&A, seeing as it answers a question, or maybe the main Android section, seeing as it has to do with the XDA forums. Either way, it
'll be in the wrong forum and I'll yet again get a long line of people hopping on the "wrong forum, asshat!" bandwagon.
Here is a tip from me to the entirety of internet users:
If you ever feel angry about someone who has "wronged" you on an internet forum, immediately call someone who doesn't use the internet as much as you (parents, significant other, non-techie best friend).
Now attempt to explain the situation to that person.
Or maybe just imagine doing this in your mind, because that's all it usually takes to realize how incredibly dumb you will then feel for getting angry about anything that happens on the internet.
Grandma: "...he told you your thread was in the wrong forum... and that makes you angry..."
You: "Ya... ok so it's a bigger deal than it sounds like. My reputation is at stake here."
Grandma: "What is a forum? Get their mothers' phone numbers and I'll have a stern talk with them."

If you think real people are not on the other end of your posts, you are the reason people get angry.

The only time anyone gets upset by what I say is when they read a tone into what I'm writing that wasn't my intention. I am encouraging the reader to being less sensitive when reading posts.
If you look in other threads, you will see that I encourage the writers of posts to be concise and straight-forward but patient with requests for help or when reporting problems, instead of demanding someone else to solve their problem. Instead of getting angry about it, I let them know about how inefficient their method of approaching the issue is, and try to encourage them to make posts that help the flow of information, instead of hinder it.
Personally, I'm offended more by the fact that negativity slows down development, then that someone said something that hurts my feelings. Positive, well written posts = Better, faster development.
Let's face it, there are a lot of people in this world who, when put behind the anonymous barrier of a computer screen, lose their minds and do nothing but slow everyone down. Those people suck, but you have to find a way to deal with them.
Most other times, its just a normal person who writes something in an ambiguous way, and another person is overly sensitive when reading. Unfortunately, in android land, it seems like we attract a higher percentage of the uncouth, immature crowd who run their mouth without stopping to think about how the other person might feel. Often times, these people are also the overly sensitive ones (but not always).
So while your point is true, it really didn't apply to what I was saying. I hope this post clears that up, and also encourages a healthy attitude towards communication between developers and users.
Our forums are just full of whiney bossy people. I suggest when someone tries to correct your "error"... dont respond (unless the error is device related of course) bc when the op gets defensive in any way the other posters feel they need to defend themselves. End result.... threads like this. It is quite obviously through any persons daily routine, some people we encounter cant/dont/wont follow instruction.

Awesome.
Not only was the question in the wrong section (and still is...), it will now get closed by a mod once one of them gets off their ass.
And one more person who needs to add thei 2 cents. This thread should have been trashed a log time ago.
clap clap clap clap (awesome content people). ataranine (good trolling).
But anywho, @OP you might find it easier to grab a twframework-res.apk that has been edited the way you want and change images if need be. Because if you find the edit that needs to be done you will still need to contend with the position and size of the other elements of the quickpanel. i.e. Once text is gone the background image for the buttons will still be drawn to the same size as if text were there and if you do edit the way that image is drawn then the padding of all other elements will need to be edited. So the lazy way will prevail on this one. Kang it.
good day.

We already have a thread for the Amazon FAotD. Didnt you see it before you posted? Anyways it is updated everyday with the new free app to reduce clutter aka your thread.
I get the point you are making but the "Amazon FAotD" thread is a newly created thread (the 29th of sep. I believe)... I have searched in the past (just like I always do before I make a post) and I never saw anything like this.. I would never have thought to search FAotD... That is not something that would come to just anyone's mind.. oh and searching amazon free apps will not turn up any solid results on this particular thread you are referring too...
Again, like in the message I sent you Wired, sorry for the extra thread! but you do not have to be sarcastic about it when "you" made a thread about cut the rope (sep. 28th, 9:42am) the same day after another user created a thread about cut the rope (sep. 28th, 8:58am)? yes, I searched it....

Since this thread has already gone down hill and will be hopefully closed (I, contacted the mod about closing/deleting it) might as well entertain the thoughts...
There was no need to explain yourself, yes I posted "I doubt it is" comment but since you do update it "regularly" then that's good! No argument here..
My point was that this kid rather be sarcastic and a smart ars then helpful and informative in a respectful manner (or just report it to the moderator, no need to comment on the thread and bump it up, DOH!). It's like I posted this in the Dev section or something. Your thread is not easy to find (yes I searched to see if someone posted IM+ Pro... NOTHING came up) as most including myself have probably searched "Amazon free apps" not amazon FAotD which would cause other forums to pop up and not yours where a free app is posted "regularly"..
Even though Wired posted in a different section, the posting rules clearly state the following (and no it doesn't say except if you go to a different section is it OK);
Read and search before posting a new thread - redundant threads will be closed.
Reply to existing threads before starting a new thread - redundant threads will be closed.

If any mod, including myself, continue to find new threads about topics that have threads already existing.
The thread will be locked with no notice and/or up to a temp BAN!!.

Separate forum place for pre-orders?

Hello,
I noticed that 70% of the topics on the first page are pre-order topics. Since I am not interested in all those topics it's a little messy to find topics that aren't about all those pre-orders.
Perhaps there could be made a seperated place for all those pre-order topics, that would be better for those interested in the pre-order topics and for the people that aren't.
Just an idea, please don't flame me for this.
Nah. Honestly, what else is there to talk about right now re: the Prime, when only a few people have them (and those threads tend to stay towards the top anyways)? And the pre-order topics will pretty quickly disappear once people start getting their Primes.
My $.02.

I agree with you. However I am from Holland, so people in the USA having their Prime bought at the Best Buy or something like that isn't helping me finding it here if you get what I mean.
I'm sure I am not the only one thinking this, so just an idea..
I don't think this is a bad idea. For devices that aren't currently available but have there own fora there should probably be a "Pre-Orders" sub-forum.
I think this could really help to de-clutter XDA.

Yes, that was the idea. On much forums you see similar structures, wich is working very well to keep the price / availability and the device itself separated.
I'm not sure what people think they are missing out on just because there are a lot of pre-order topics. Either way, seems needless at this point if it really is launching next week.
In a month or less, pre order threads will be gone and replaced by something just as popular.

We need to create a rollup sticky thread.

The number of stickies in this forum is just insane. I think we should create a roll up sticky to include all the stickies in this forum so it doesn't get cluttered with too much information.
Here's an example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1096
I'll look into it.

I personally mentioned this before as well. Would be much apreciated.
Too many stickies are annoying.
Would suggest three roll-up stickies,
. Super-sticky (always on top): READ THIS FIRST! MODERATION AND YOU!
This would subsume the "New Forum Mod", "Questions posted in General...", "Operation Iron Fist"
. Sticky: Official Asus Threads
All threads started by Gary Key
. Sticky: Guides and How-Tos
All help threads
Suggest unsticky the "GPS Dongle" thread, as well as the outdated "Come to #Asus-Transformer..." thread.

for me too many threads on dongles and 300 are the most annoying. i say get rid of all 300 related threads. its not a prime and this is prime forum. if anything, stick all those threads in the OG transformer section aka tf-101, since that is what the 300 replaced. or move them all to the QnA section.
the sticky threads aren't the problem. the problem is 300 threads and complaint threads that new people make instead of just posting in a thread that already addresses that issue. people not using search at all.
A simple roll up sticky thread would do the trick as well as an active mod who locks down those threads as they pop up.
Conferring with other Forum Mods before I make the roll up sticky.

This is a great idea. While you're there could you delete a few of the threads that contain nothing but moaning and complaining lol . I'm actually pretty happy with my Prime, apart from the crappy way ASUS did the bootlaoder unlock (NVFlash will make me a lot happier though if that actually materializes). But a trip in to the General forum generally leaves me pretty depressed. Can't you put something at the top that says "Apparently a lot of people have not being having great RMA experiences, please stop posting about it"!?

If we're removing such threads... can we remove the:
1. Asus, Nvidia, and Transformer Prime are simply the best in the World thread.
it won't happen. no one wants to see repeated complaint threads that could've easily been put into existing threads already on the issue. people had 5 months worth of complaint threads. its time prime forum move in a different direction. we already heard the gripes. no reason to keep trying to shove it down peoples throats. we already heard them the first time. its mostly the same people repeatedly posting the same complaints almost daily. if people used search more, there wouldn't be as many of those threads.
The Positive Movement has already begun. People want to come here to learn more about their device and be in a positive atmosphere. Possible issues with device is important also. But 20 different complaint threads on same issue is far from needed. Maybe some like forum to seem depressing but I'm sure most don't. As proof is shown from outrage against constant complaints or gripes. I see it all the time up here now.
If its not some new issue that's never been reported before, a new thread shouldn't need to be made about it. or stick it in QnA section at least. Post about it in an existing thread already. SEARCH box is a powerful tool.

if people used search more, there wouldn't be as many of those threads.

Perharps members should just post anything negative in a positive way just to appease this "The Positive Movement"

I think these are good points by both of you. I find myself spending hardly any time in the general forum these days since the repeated posts (both positive and negative) and constant trolling just makes it boring. Personally, I do find the repeated negative posts more annoying since each makes me worried about my $650 investment!

agreed but problem more so with redundant complaint threads on same issue. redundant threads on something good is far n few.
MORAL & POINT IS: People need to use search box more. Redundant threads, whether positive or negative is clutter. post in thread already made on the issue unless its something new. New threads, whether positive or negative, is not needed if there is already an existing thread on that same issue or subject. Once this happens, the backlash will cease against those redundant complaint threads or even positive ones.

I agree. especially with your last sentence

[Q] (¿?) Why!?

Why do people keep posting questions in the general thread?
The same reason they post in development.
They didn't watch the noob video before signing up for an account
Maybe xda should have shark week like something awful does?
They smell like pepper and wear bells around their necks
(Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh!
I like roasts. Like the one they did on Charlie Sheen. Classic.
They just ban people left and right for any little thing for a week straight. After that week though they are allowed to pay and come back. There are even little notes on their comments saying "this person got put on probation for this comment" and "this person got banned for that". I lay low for that week.

I've noticed that when you create a new thread there's a check box asking if it's a question, and if you check that when creating a thread in the development forum it immediately tells you that it's not a Q&A forum and you are breaking the rules. I don't see why that check couldn't be added to the General Forum as well, but it does depend on users noticing that and actually checking the box.
Forums on other websites do a search for similar threads based on the title of the new post. If XDA would implement that, the results could also give some very brief guidelines on where to post a new thread, and I think that would help.
ramjet73
It should be on the general thread. The accessories and themes & apps threads also for that matter. If they just posted where they want and got flamed it would Anarchy rawr ANARCHY!
I think most are junior members. We have to nurture the noobs, love on them, and show them the ways of the force.
Now, members and senior members deserve the smackdown.
Maybe ramjet can post a link to this thread every time he sees someone post a question in the general section. I would help, but I don't know how to post links from the app and I don't know how to work a computer either. Only the phone.

Lmao Coal you must be missing a pet or something What about the junior members that have signed up like a year ago and still have like 4 posts? How do we know they don't lurk in the forums?
I think some users dont understand basic written english cause its not their native language. I mean c'mon! one of the first thing i read on xda was "DONT POST IN WRONG SECTION". how hard is that to understand
It's starting again. I feel the fear coming on.
And the migraines too. Hangover ugh...
