how to eject my sg2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all
when i connect my gs2 to the pc (with the usb cable) it automatically connects and writes "mtp connected" and then "usb connected" without pressing anything.
then everything works just fine:
on the pc (in "my computer") i can see and go to "My Computer\GT-I9100" where
i can see 2 directories "Card" and "Phone" and i can copy and paste and delete files.
however when i want to disconnect the device i dont have any "eject" option:
1. no usb icon in system tray where i can right click and eject.
2. no way to eject using right click on the "My Computer\GT-I9100" icon
the only thing i can do is simply pool the usb out and i dont think its healthy.
any Thoughts ?
thanks

When MTP mode is on, just press the home button. Or go settings>applications>development >USB debugging and make sure it's ticked, this will ensure it doesn't go to MTP mode every time you connect it to a computer.

1) Hmm... when should i press the home button to eject my phone ? i tried pressing it while its locked and also when its unlocked, nothing happened.
2) what difference does it make if i have it set in usb debugging mode or not?
As you can see, i am really noob at this, sorry.
Thanks for Your reply

there is no eject button as the phone does not anything
the drivers on the computer that do all work when you you plug in the phone and display the phone menus. If you don't do anything, it will charge your phone.
when the battery is full, you will just disconnect it as you would with the charger.
It will not hurt the phone as the phone is designed to have the cable weither it is for charging or computer to be pulled out when the job is done.

so i just pull the usb cable and thats it ? nothing weird will happen ?

the eject option is on the windows explorer

[HELP] Problem with USB mass storage connection.

Hey guys, please help.
Last night, I used a USB cable given to me from a friend (not the original comes with the box) to hook my phone to my computer. I think this cable is probably defected or something. When I hooked it up, my phone started to get hot and it shut down. I unhooked my phone and tried to turn it back on, but nothing happened. I then used the original USB cable to hook it up, nothing happened. I thought my phone is dead.
Finally, I used the JIG I bought from Connexion/MobileVideoTech.com to get my phone into Download Mode. It worked, and I was able to turn the phone on. Now the phone is functioning quite normal with one thing missing: the USB storage connection.
Now even using the original USB cable, charging function is normal, but the USB storage connection icon does not appear in the notification bar anymore. I re-flashed Simply Honey 3.9.1 large, but still, it is no longer there.
I check setting/ SD card and phone storage, there is no USB mass storage mode. I can not connect and open internal or external SD card. The computer does not recognize my phone any more, can't use ODIN, can't use Droid Explorer. (
Does anyone know how to fix this problem??? Please, helppppp!
Pretty sure its under "Settings > Wireless and netwerk > USB settings"
You might wanna toggle "USB debugging" as well for good measure. Good luck!

[Q] HTC will not connect to my computer

My phone will charge only, the computer will not make a sound as if its connected. I have used usb view and device manager the computer just doesn't see it. I also can't see it under the command prompt (adb Devices). Rebooted it many times tried the connect pc changing that making sure its on always ask, I reset it back to default. I am using the factory usb as well as tried a few others along with using multiple computers to rule out a computer and usb problem.
Can anyone help
Make sure you are not paying so much attention to your computer and more to the phone. Depending on what ROM you are running if you connect it to the computer the phone will show a USB connected but you have to press a button to finish the connection (on the phone) it is usually a swipe down from task bar look for it, that is how it is on the ROM I am running A05PTH3ORY. Make sure to thank me if this help you.
This may not apply if the PC doesn't see it at all, but you can give it a shot.
Put your phone into Internet Pass Through mode. After 30 seconds (or more, not less), put it back into Disk Drive mode.

Conecting the sgs ii to a pc it's a bit of a hassle

What kind of connection "type" does the sgs ii uses for connecting to a pc? sometimes my pc wont even recognize it, i have even tried hooking it up on some of my friends pcs but most of the times on the device it says "mtp" but i cant access through my pc i can even eject it using windows
If you just plug it in and it says MTP, you need the phone's drivers in order to use it.
but theres a much faster way, Just go to settings > apps > development and activate usb debugging.
this way, whenever you plug the phone, it shows up on the phone "USb plugged in"
then you press it, and you hit "load",
then you'll see your phone as a flash drive...and trasfer rate is at maximum
thats the best way, plus you dont need any drivers for doing it

[Q] Where is USB mounting?

Weird question, but with my Steak, I put in USB to computer and mount via the notification option. Now I have MHL connected (or something like that), but no option to mount. Goto settings and there is a USB mount option in there as well, but when I choose that option, it says to remove the cable. And the reason I don't want to is b/c it's my first full recharge after a full charge/discharge to condition the battery. Suggestions?

Just doing a quick unplug/replug shouldn't mess your battery too much dude, I'd just go for it
Remove the cable. Turn on USB DEBUGGING in the Settings=>Applications=>Development menu. After enabling USB Debugging, whenever you plug your phone into the PC it will display an option in your status bar to enable it without having to go through Settings again.
Don't forget to Thank Me if this is your solution please.
I am getting an MTP connection and my windows machine is just recognizing the phone as a Camera. I have no option to mount the phone as a USB drive. Am I missing something?

Can't get transfer files to/from pc

Ok so here's the problem, when I plug in the USB cable I don't get any drives mounted on my Windows 7 PC. It worked when I got it on release day, I have no idea what the issue is now. I'm running stock everything.
When I go to USB Mass Storage in the settings and hit Connect to storage PC it says "USB is connected remove the cable." When I remove the cable it does nothing obviously.
When I hit the button without a USB cable it says "Connect USB cable to use mass storage." Plug in the cable, does nothing.
Any idea?

You can can also use Kies or another wifi file transfer app to remove the need for cables if you have a wifi set up.
I had to read the thread twice because i couldn't figure out why you didn't lay into the jerk that called you an idiot. Then I saw that you were the jerk. Very funny.
Another option is Airdroid in the Market. Lets you connect without cables.
Glad you got it sorted out. Reboot the phone and\or the PC usually fixes a lot of issues.
What you have to do is press connect as usb storage then plug the phone in. You can't have the phone plugged in and press the button to enable it.

Hey it's my old thread! Anyway I did it that way and any other way you could think of trying to get it to work. Then I remembered the second rule of troubleshooting (first being make sure its plugged in) reboot! And it worked fine after that.
Then for a chuckle I had to go mock myself.
