Getting Galaxy Player - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Might be getting the player for christmas, what should i expect out of this? Just like a phone but without phone function? Im so excited when i get it!!! (Will have to wait till christmas morning of course) thats to far though!!!

I don't think you should buy it since Samsung has no plan in the future to upgrade the Player to Android 4.0. Moreover, the development community for this device is pretty small.
So, my advice is "Don't buy"

All I care about is voodoo sound

Dont listen...not byying this wonderful mp3 player just because its not getting ics is a stupid reason. Android is by far the best os on the market...even the stock 2.3.5 is great and does a lot more than any other mp3 player out there. I got it for my dad for xmas and he can now get rid of his gps and toshiba thrive and ipod 2g...this player is awesome. Its big though, not thin but it has a huge 5in screen. Honestly for the price of 250$ its worth every penny. android 4.0 is a nice os but its mostly phone and tablet oriented. Again, the lack of ics is not a goot reason to discard this great littlle device. It has a gps front and back camera with flash....i love it

I have the 4 inch, and it has the same exact specs as the 5 inch. Plus the screen resolution looks better because of the smaller display. So basically it all comes down to your personal preference in size.

Why would anyone want ICS? I hear all kinds of issues with it... does it add more functions? I'm very happy with my 5.0. I wouldn't care if it had Froyo (I like my Optimus-V just as well except for it's small screem). Don't ICS's melt in the sun?

Totally agree. Most people who are saying not to buy it are speaking from a phone standpoint and not from an media player standpoint.

It does not have the same exact specs, there are other subtle differences between them apart from the screen and battery. It's not the same chipset. That said, it's pretty much the same thing in daily use apart from the battery life and size considerations.

The main differences I see (aside from screen and battery size) are that the 4" has a removable battery but the 5" has an LED flash. I lean to the removable battery myself but it is nice to use your phone as a flashlight in a pinch!

[Q] To wait or not to wait..

There has been similar threads, but I'll just go ahead and make a new one.
As my HD2 has came to an untimely demise, I'm currently stuck with my old Nokia E65, and I'm starting to wonder if it's really worth waiting for the Galaxy S II.
I could buy an Optimus 2X or an Xperia Arc today, do you reckon the Galaxy S II is so much better that it's worth being stuck with an aging symbian phone for (at least) a month? What would you guys do?
one-word. super-amoled-plus.
Why do you need sth better for a month? Just wait and get SGS2.
Use your Nokia as most people does - as a simple phone and don't expect too much. I'm sure you can stand without web browsing or quality games for a while. You still can phone anybody, text, make notes and check time ;D
BTW. take it easy, I'm in worse situation. As my E65 died I'm stuck with Nokia 6300 for a month waiting for SGS2. <facepalm>
It's only 1 month - 4 lousy Mondays, a few beers, maybe a read book or good PC game played. Don't think about waiting.
I now what you mean, i sold my iPhone in January, an has being on my backup "N95" forever i fill, first i was waiting for LG OX2,and then i heard about SGS 2, so I will wait until May with a smile.
I now what you mean, i sold my iPhone in January, an has being on my backup "N95" forever i fill, first i was waiting for LG OX2,and then i heard about SGS 2, so I will wait until May with a smile.
Sorry there is a lag.
Somehow your misfortunes makes me feel better. Thanks!
I will wait. It has better be worth it!
I'm waiting... I've been using the same terrible LG Vu for over 2 years now... I really hope this phone comes to USA soon.
I got slapped last time I said this, but RAM. I have been out of contract for 2 months, I can get the X2 or Arc as well. But Arc is single core with 512MB ram, and X2 as great as it seems only has the 512MB as well.
Of the two, the X2 is the winner hands down, and it already has a top notch set of devs working on it. (Look at Paul's work from MODACO)
If you can afford to upgrade in a year, then yes, the X2 is a great phone. I am so tempted by it, but I have spent almost 2 years trying to make the most of the I75000. It was almost enough to put me off Samsung for life.
We do not know what the community will be like for the Galaxy SII, but it has a dual core cpu, great screen, good battery and 1GB of RAM. So with a bit of work , it will be a good phone for a few years.
So time to stop rambling, yes, from someone else going nuts and being tempted left right and centre, wait if you can.

If that red-crushing isn't fixed, I'll take an IPS LCD or a SLCD over a sgs2 any day. It's always one step forward and two steps back with Samsung amoled's.

Take a look at it carefully before you praise it. It totally blurs shadow details on red colors.
you know what, i'll deal with a little bit of red over-saturation for the vibrancy you get with all the other colors of the spectrum. and if you're will to let that push you to slcd... well i just have no words for you.

i'm actually starting to get really itchy, i'm tempted to buy a nexus s for the newest updates - i do want to use it as an app dev phone - but it seems very hit and miss in terms of performance, but then there's touchwiz, which even at 4.0 looks terrible. there's nothing that the s2 does that the ns doesn't really do, only - at this stage - just a bit faster because only honeycomb can handle dual core processors...
plus, it'll be £100 cheaper, which would mean i recouperate my costs faster.
i'm just not sure the s2 would be totally for me.

Doesn't really do more ? Nexus S lacks of MicroSD & Flash LED, it should be a standard for a smartphone to have that now...
the nexus s has a flash led. the gs however, does not. no microsd? not an issue for me. 16gb of internal storage is more than enough for me - and really, for anyone.

Galaxy nexus or sgs2??

The only thing that seems better is the screen.
Anyone going to get a galaxy nexus and replace their sgs2?
Engadget said that the screen of the galaxy nexus is on par or marginally better than the sgs2.
The only advantage then would be that you would have a nexus line device with fast updates.
And with lcd density chamber you can fake high res screen to.

If I lose or destroy my SGS2, I'll probably replace it with a Galaxy Nexus. Otherwise, no.
The screen is considerably better on the new Nexus, and I do like the form factor.. but that to me is not worth any expense as my current display is more than ample and I also love the physical design of the SGS2. The obvious advantage is instant access to ICS and NFC... Which I can wait for and am not too fussed about respectively.

Pentile matrix on Nexus Prime is awful downgrade from AMOLED PLUS (normal matrix) of SGS2. Resolution is a marketing lie, there's PENTILE issue.
Camera is worse than on SGS2.
SGS2 will soon be upgraded to ICS - promised by Samsung officially.
The only reason is getting timely updates without waiting for manufacturer for ages. But only for one year until next google phone comes out.
Agreeing with the above, it makes no sense to upgrade an SGS2 to a nexus prime, however if you currently have neither then you can make a choice, however personally unless you need something like NFC I would still chose the SGS2 any day.

Dont write the nexus screen off just because its pentile. Its still has higher sub pixel density than the S2. Samsungs pentile screens are a world better than motorolas (who have give pentile a bad name), so without seeing the 2 side by side we cant know if the nexus is a bad screen or not.
The S2 camera may well give better pictures at its best but the nexus camera does have the continuous focus feature and instant shot. This is better for the more candid and random sort of pictures people take with camera phones. Whether the S2 camera will get this with ICS we dont know, but it may be a feature of the hardware in the Nexus, so something the S2 cant do.
Spec for Spec & Dollar per Dollar the SGS2 wins.
Besides the screen, everything else is similar or of lower specs on the GN
In saying that thou, if i do lose or kill my SGS2 i will prob upgrade to the GN only coz its newer..
Although I somewhat agree with the above, if you can afford it and love plain vanilla android, why not?! I'm definitely going to buy one. The SGS2 is an amazing phone and spec-wise the Nexus is just on par, but the fact that you get plain vanilla android with all its amazing features is sufficient for me.

Cyanogen-mod is close to stock, you can see how well SGS2 performs and how responsive it can be without all the bloat ware. It's amazing.
I think it's better wait for the next Galaxy S, which is going to be far superior than Nexus Prime.

I agree with this. Having your phone withouth touchwiz officially is one of the top things the galaxy nexus has over the SGS2, for me (I know a lot of people like touchwiz, but I personally don't). I'm indeed loving my SGS2 with CM7, but having the android exprrience (and ICS!) withouth having to load any custom ROMs to your device is priceless.

Should i get the Galaxy S2 or the galaxy nexus

Hi guys!
Im getting a new phone in the next couple of days and its between these two.
I just want to know which one of these would you recommend over the other and why
Thanks!
Get the Nexus unless you want:
1. the S II's 8MP cam. Although keep in mind that MP count isn't everything.
2. physical/capacitive buttons.
3. ability to expand storage with microSD card. This is a pretty huge deal to a lot of folks.
4. to keep using Gingerbread over Ice Cream Sandwich.
5. TouchWiz.
Galaxy Nexus, updates direct from google no waiting 6+ months for them.
Thats the thing, other than the screen size and os i havent seen anything that makes the galaxy nexus seem better but im not too phone savvie which is why im not sure
I would say apart from the above mentioned points in favour of the s2, the main reason why I didn't go for the nexus is the weight and size factor... if you don't intend to use your phone for more than mainly phone features then I don't think one needs a 4.65" screen... I always felt 4" was the perfect size, but due to the s2's extremely light weight it can get away with the large size... the nexus is bigger aand heavier which makes sense but still... when it comes to comfort of carrying it in a pocket, I'd rather not have a giant bulge in my pocket... but nonetheless the nexus is sexy as hell... I would love to have that HD display... but size does matter...
I think you should check them both out in the shop before buying... soon enough ICS will be on the S2 as well so... and being on xda you will be getting custom rom updates before samsungs... unless your into stock...

The only thing i like about the nexus is the screen, don't like the design and the lack of memory card slot is unforgivable.
depends on your preference.. if you want gorjess screen and ICS go for nexus..
if you want camera quality and 2011 smartphone of the year go for S2..
but i suggest you to wait for S3.. because it will be a major upgrade over S2 and it comes loaded with more features than the existing galaxy nexus..
its just samsung marketing strategies to keep their phone lineup balanced..
I would wait for the SGS3 as well!!! But would take the SGS2 if I had to choose now!
i had the chance to play with a galaxy nexus yesterday and i wasnt impressed.
it was slower than my sgs2, horrid camera, no sd, screen didnt look better at all, slower cpu and gpu.
I dont want to sound like a hater because i genuinely was considering it but, its simply not a better device.

Dude, I've had both phones and I can tell you without hesitation to get the Galaxy Nexus. It's the best mobile phone I've ever used. Period.
The HD screen is beyond gorgeous.
Nexus if you
like fast update, big screen with High resolution, android beam ??
and don't care about no sd card slot, gaming(cause it have the same GPU as nexus s! and cpu is lower than SGS2)
SGS2 if you
like sd card slot, gaming, lot of mods
and don't care about big screen but low resolution, slow update

I agree with this to a degree. The GS3 will probably have the same screen as the GN and a better processor - but you'll rely on Samsung for the latest updates.
The GN on the other hand will be the first phone to get the most up to date firmware from Google.
For me, I'm worried about extra storage, having the best camera and gaming.
The GS2 (and obviously the GS3) beats the GN on all those counts, which is why I chose the GS2.
SGS2 because the nexus is expensive right now for what it does. Touchwiz is also a nice touch, love it or hate it, it still has the best codec support for videos which is awesome!
soft keys FOR THE LOSE !

RAZR, iPhone4S or Galaxy Nexus?

Ive decided to get a new phone (Well, actually my HTC decided for me by having its touchscreen die) but I'm not entirely sure what to get.
(The part that sucks about this, is all the new quadcore phones and iPhone 5 coming soon/later this year)
The Galaxy Note was just too big, so I've narrowed it down to the Galaxy Nexus, Moto RAZR and iphone4S. How have you found the GN to be? Is there anything I should keep in mind?
The RAZR and the GN have pretty much the same GPU/CPU combo, but the GN has a better screen, right? For those of you who have tried both, is there a major visible difference between the GN screen and the screen on the RAZR?
(Yes, I've heard all about the Pentile display, but it doesn't really bother me on the RAZR. I tried as hard as I can, and I can't tell the difference. Probably because the resolution is so high...)
The thing that's holding me back from the GN is the camera. I've heard that its fast, but not very good (Esp. compared to the iPhones camera) and at 5MP the resolution is pretty small these days.
The RAZR is kinda tempting because of all the accessories (Lapdock etc,) the ultra thin design, 8MP camera (Thou I've heard the quality is so-so) and being expandable up to 48 GB. But how is the camera on the RAZR? I've noticed it shoots pretty fast, but how does it compare quality wise?
I'm trying to keep ICS out of the equation, since the RAZR will have it soon.
And then theres the iPhone. I've heard the camera is awesome on it, it has a GPU that still can't be beat by any Android phone, and Apple is really awesome with providing updates quick, and for a long time after they released a phone. The thing that really holds me back though, is the 3.5 inch screen. Yes, it's an awesome screen, and amazing PPI, but I'm not sure I could get used to a screen that small after having an SGSII and Evo3D for a while with a 4.3 inch screen.
So yeah, is there anything about the RAZR I should know about? What phone would you choose if you haven't chosen what you have? And how do you find the battery life?
Dude it depends on your experience by using Android phones or IOS Phones for me 4s is better cuz it has lots of features when jailbreaked....About Nexus its cool but kinda "slow" IOS Has better speed and performance I mean NO LAGG at 4S
PLEASE GIMME THANKS!
From those 3 phones I would choose the Razr. The thing that is bringing up the thought of returning mine is the bootloader: will it get unlocked or not, if so when? The apple Iphone I would simply never ever consider it because the phone is so locked(no widgets etc) and the Gnex is awesome because there is so many roms+ unlocked BL. But if the RAZR gets the BL unloacked I think it will be a beast. The built quality is one of the best i`ve seen on an Android phone. Beats bith the Gnex and Iphone.
Sorry for spelling mistakes I am writing this on my tab without auto correction.

My advice is the Razr as i have had a Iphone4s and nexus and a Galaxy S2
the razr is best in build quality along with the iphone4S
Iphone 4S is the most overrated hardware in this century so far i kept it for 1 day and sold it
While Samsung phones feel all cheap and nasty but have great features
The Razr is a great phone and its now my main phone , defo the best phone on the market at present
only bad side to Razr is locked bootloader and it doesnt have WIFI direct
great roms Icecream Sandwich roms already out put the phone to near full potential
Cant really fault this phone its the best by far
I came to the Razr Maxx from the Evo 3D. I loved the Evo 4G and Evo 3D. You won't notice anything about the screen that overly zealous people are complaining about on the Razr's screen. The screen is great. But get the Maxx. The battery lasts all day long. You'll really like that feature.
The Apple's screen is just too small. It would be nice if they released a phone with a bigger screen and loosened their control over the device just a bit. With Jobs dead now you would think that might happen but I wouldn't hold my breath. Afterall, why give the public something they might want. Apple knows best.
get an iphone kthxbai
For me decision to buy a razr was quite easy. I had 3gs & 2x iP 4 and I definitely didn't want to come back to this s#*%. I'm talking abt iTunes and othes "advantages" of IOS.
Samsung devices are realy high performance but.. looks and feels like a piece of crappy plastic. But I wanted nice and solid looking device.
Well, that's my story.

I wouldn't add much to what everyone here has already said. It basically boils down to preference.
iPhone 4s has a really smooth interface and yeah iOS is optimized like ****! But then you're hardware support is gonna run out pretty soon cuz it has no dev community. Also if you're an experiment freak like me, you're gonna feel caged. You'll be stuck with an older version of iOS while all the newer Apple devices will get updated.
With Android that isn't the case, I still have my old 2010 SE Xperia X8 and even it's got an ICS port. So device support (at least unofficially) isn't an issue.
Now coming down to GNex vs. RAZR
RAZR wins out on almost every front. Better build quality, signal/reception, camera, call quality and GPS. A smaller screen and lesser res(it in no way looks pixellated or anything, the display is just beautiful but statistically lesser in res and size) with the same GPU as GNex means you'll get higher frame rates as games start taxing these GPUs. Also its the slimmest in the world(one of a kind) with a revolutionary design so you got bragging rights too!
The RAZR has a TI OMAP 4430, which is a lower model that GNex's TI OMAP 4460, but then their both clocked at 1.2 GHz. Untill we get overclocking support, you won't actually notice any difference at stock speeds.(please correct me if im wrong here)
The RAZR does lose out on the locked bootloader and direct update support. But we've heard from kholk that a bootloader bypass is on the way and also that Motorola is planning to unlock our bootloaders with the ICS update in Q2.
The fact that Gnex has ICS again doesn't matter much. ICS doesn't bring any thing really useful to the table. Its just like a hyper-optimized Gingerbread. No lags, smooth UI and all that ****.
The RAZR is scheduled for the ICS update anyways and I'm pretty sure that it'll see android 5.0 too!
PS: Even if the Gnex was better than the RAZR in every damned specification, I would still buy the RAZR. I just can't stand the plastic on Samsung phones. When the hell are they gonna learn that you don't put something as cheap as plastic on high end phones! :/
BTW tried to keep my thoughts as unbiased as possible. Hope it helped!
EDIT
Sorry forgot somethings!
Battery on the RAZR is awesome! I can easily get 1.5 days of normal usage with some wifi (no data however). Also you can use setCPU to lower processor speeds when the screen is off! Thats a big battery booster!
Battery Life Order:
RAZR>iPhone 4S> GNEX(Battery on the GNEX truly SUCKS!, idk what samsung was thinking)

Ya when you can run custom kernels on the RAZR it will be awesome.

All in what you want. IPhone has kinda a Fisher Price ui IMO. It is fast & smooth. And is missing lee capability. Screen is beautiful, but tiny.
Nexus has a cheap battery door. The camera is small, but fast. And there us no SD slot. Deal killer for me.
I have a couple Razr Maxx's. I love them. They are sturdy, and the battery life is phenomenal. Motorola Blur is coming along nicely. The smart actions are extremely handy, as is Motocast. HDMI has full mirroring, which is also nice. The nano-coating is not only water resistant, its fingerprint resistant. Bootloader is the only negative for this phone, unless you're looking for NFC or a barometer.
If u are a crack flasher, u might want the nexus. Otherwise, for something that just dominated out of the box, Maxx can't be beat yet IMO. Don't waste you're money on a og Razr. U will just end up frustrated with battery life.
Hey I would consider the rezound out of all of them. It has the best screen out with 720p 4.3" display, equal to the galaxy nexus but sharper. 32gb of storage, 8mp camera with 1080p recording. 2mp front face camera. Beats audio, Dual core 1.5ghz snapdragon processor. Dev support is outstanding. Mine is running android 4.0.3 ics and has face lock. Phone is the only one aside from the Thunderbolt that can talk and surf at the sametime on 3g and 4g. The other 4g phones on Verizon can only do it on 4g. It's rooted and has free WiFi tethering. The galaxy nexus is ok but it gets boring from times. Vanilla ics is ok for some. The 5mp camera was not that great and I dislike the fact that there is no external sd card slot. The only thing great to me about the nexus is getting the updates first. I wish HTC was still making the galaxy line up. The razr is ok. It has great signal, battery life is great. Screen is pretty good. I don't know if it's that new pin tile technology on the razor or not but I hate the pin tile. Looks grainy or something when looking at it close. I hate motoblur. The only thing nice about blur widgets were that they were resizable but they suck to me. There like windows phone 7 tiles without the live action. The rezound is a excellent phone in my opinion. HTC sense is just a better UI to me. Sense 4.0 is even better and runs very light on the Rom. Or with the rezound you can also go with the vanilla feel of ics. Screen is incredible. Music sounds amazing, never had a problem with signal. My battery life is great with dev support getting 14hrs out of my rezound with heavy use. Camera is beautiful.

The Sense UI on the HTC rezound actually makes the phone lag! Sorry dude, I hate Sense with a passion! Seen too many HTC phones with my friends. :/
And the 1.5 Ghz dual core processor isn't even a true dual core. Its more on a makeshift arrangement. Thats the reason why HTC Rezound is beaten by the RAZR and other TI OMAP dual core phones in benchmarks. And as far as Beats are concerned, its just a software equalizer, nothing else and its already been ported!
And an LCD display doesn't even come close to a S-AMOLED display when it comes to color contrast and brightness. Besides AMOLEDs eat less battery with dark colors!
Also the Rezound is bulky and HTC is probably gonna kill hardware support for it very soon in light of the new HTC One series release. So I don't think its that good an option.
Dont go the Apple way, I just did but couldnt go back, to many things is just missing.

It all depends on what you're looking for the most in using your phone. For me, getting all my calls, texts, and voice mails on time, are number 1 priority. And Motorola is known to make great wireless radios. The internet speeds are awesome on it. I love the Droid Razr. Not a big fan of the screen display technology but it's easy to get use to. Also not a big fan of the TI OMap processor, I think it's kinda slow but it's not a big enough issue to drive me away. It has a nice camera and it's a really nice smartphone. The build quality is fantastic in my opinion. The device just looks beautiful. I read and also have heard in videos that Motorola isn't gonna be seeing ICS updates until 3RD quarter of the year. That's pretty late. If you're thinking about getting the Razr, I would get the Razr Maxx. But the thing that sucks about the Maxx is that right now it only comes in black I believe. The OG Razr comes in black, white, and purple.
If you want the ICS OS right now or you plan to root and flash roms, your best choice is the Galaxy Nexus. Google phones are made for development. I expected something amazing with the Galaxy Nexus but it's ok to me. Only thing it has that I like is ICS. The display is ok. I expected better with 720p HD.
Iphone 4s has a great camera and screen display. It looks to be smooth when I play with it. I never owned one so I don't know. My friend who was an android head for years went to get a iPhone and he loves it. Says it's smooth no lag. Not as many bugs as android. I may have to mess around and get a iPhone in the future lol. But it would absolutely need to have a bigger screen and it would have to be a 4G device. The current screen size with iPhone is too small for my taste but hey some people might not care.

[Q] Galaxy Player 4.2 or 5?

I don't know weather to get the 4.2 or 5. I want the 5 but its way too big
personal preference . i like the 5.0.
4.2 has omap processor while the 5.0 has exynos, which is slightly better even at the same clock rate. 4.2 has 2mp camera while the 5.0 has 3.2 or 5 in korean version. 5.0 has much better devving and rom choice and it also does fit in your pocket!

5.0has flash wich can also be a flashlight and yes has more to offer for devving.big screen easy to watch movies.specs are out there
The only thing 4.2 has over 5.0 is the blutooth handsfree profile, it can be used as a bt hf with tablets and phones, which means if you are listening to your music and your phone rings, you can answer the call through 4.2, this can be very convenient, however this feature doesn't work with all phones. Oh, you can call people to, it can dial numbers which are in your contacts. If you don't care about this, then it's a no brainer - 5.0 all the way - bigger battery, bigger screen, better for serfing inet...

I take it with me everywhere, never annoying imho if you get used to the bulk, its easy to run around with it in your pocket. its a little hard to take it out of your pocket while sitting down because it gets caught. But it never fell out because of its size so its good if you go on a plane. If comfort and portability has higher priority than screen size, cm9 and custom roms then I guess 4.2 can serve better.

I have no experience with the 4.2 but I have the 5.0 and absolutely love it. I had an iPod before and it was certainly a shock to see how much bigger the 5.0 was but it only took me a day to get over it because that 5 inch screen more than makes up for it. I can't imagine how I used to look at a tiny 3.5 inch screen and didn't think it was too small. It fits in all of my jeans and jacket pockets without being overly bulky.

lol, yeah it's funny how you get used to bigger screens, i had a similar experience, after using my gp 5.0 for a couple of days my phone's 3.8" screen seemed strangely small.
I know you are asking opinion on the 5.0 and the 4.2, but if you worry about the size but you still want the better performance and developpement on your device you can get the 4.0. It is exactly the same as the 5.0 but smaller. So you get the same performance and there is more developpement going than for the 4.2. Again this is just my opinion but I personnaly prefer the 4.0.

Agreed... apman, why do want the 4.2 over the 4.0 anyway? Is there a limited choice?

Well at least in my country ( Lithuania ) the 4.0 has been replaced with the more expensive 4.2. And you cant buy the 4.0 anymore.

I'd say get the 5.0. Its easy to get used to the large size and its still a very capable device. There's a lot of development for it and its pretty good for watching movies and playing games. I'm not sure about pricing where you live, but in the UK the nexus 7 and 5.0 are nearly the same price so you might want to consider the nexus 7, but for a smaller device, the 5.0 is great

If music playing is your thing, then I would recommend the 4.0 or 4.2 as those have the wolfson dacs. The 5.0 is yamaha. I believe the wolfson dac yields higher quality audio than the yamaha. YMMV
Do not forget the battery!
I own the 5.0 and it has a 2500 mAh Battery, 4.2 has 1500 mAh and 4.0 has 1200 mAh.
This is a big advantage for the 5.0 which can last longer.

Ok so I know I said that the 5.0 is a better option, but Amazon (at least Amazon UK) will start selling the 4.2 for only £70 (~$112) from 8:45pm GMT. Considering the RRP is something like £150, this is a really good deal so it might be better to get the 4.2 if you just want a cheap portable media player

I don't know the prices in your countries but here in Italy the 5.0 has a nice one: I bought it 3 months ago for €139 (~£112) but now I can find it for €129 (~£104) and i think is gonna be even more cheaper by year end.
Even if i could find the 4.2 for ~90€ I still would choose the 5.0.
