A Review of Theme ALIEN GLOW v.51 for Eclipse 2.0 + By Android.Ninja
First off let me say that there are alot of developers / themers out there and this in no way discredits anyones work. It is simply my review.
Developer / Themer: Kevin3328 and hedwig34 Link to Theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404198
ALIEN GLOW v.51 for Eclipse 2.0 + is a remarkable theme and once installed you can tell that time, care, and planning were put into place when this theme was born. The structure of the theme is evident right after a sucessfull install. Seeing the glowing green backgrounds, corners, borders, & dramatically glowing unlock screen icons almost illuminate an aroura of 3D effect.
The precision animations of "Flying Windows" give my X2 a new feeling , bringing every transistion and animation to life. The Framework, Moto, Blur, & System UI were themed immaculately giving the backbone of the structure a new lift.
The Keyboard is perfectly themed making it easily visible in all possible lighting situations.A perfect amount of aroura was supplied arround each character on the keyboard map, as not to distrurb the subtleness of the keys. This with the black background and green text, giver each character a clear neon glow.
The Contacts, Launcher, Calculator, and other various icons also deliver the same richness in the theme. Elegently delivering each tone of shade a radiant green glowing effect.
The font of choice is the Zerg system custom font. All I can say is "Well Done." This font is perfect for this theme. It gives you the alien type feel but delivers the crisp and raxor sharp image in each character and number displayed, that is sure to be the envy. It makes your X2 stand out, and that's no joke.
The dialer I think is my sencon favorite part of this well put together masterpiece. When incoming calls come, you get the full effect of the "glowing green on black" imaging this phone really deserves.
The Transistions of windows animitaions are just enought to bring new life to the X2. It doesn't overcome the phone or drown out the rest of the awesomeness this theme delivers. It's just enough to give a smooth transistion from the boring non animiation look of stock to the Area 51 precision that you will expect.
As for the install, It's the same as with any install. Pretty straight forward and to the point.
Screenshots are below. I give this theme a Android.Ninja Swords Up!

Anybody care to Share icons?

Anybody got any awesome icons I've been looking around I have really found an icon sharing page
V5 custom vibrant
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/ has quite a few. However, most of them are monochromatic, for LauncherPro, but an app they offer allows you to get user-defined color versions of everything they have on the site. (change icon color/drop shadow color)
That's cool but I was thinking more custom user made I did however find an awesome transparent xda icon there
V5 custom vibrant
Just do a Google search for free icons any.png or.ico file works. You'll findliterally hundreds of icons to use. I use better cut and change my whole theme withy mood.

Have anything in mind?
I'm growing a bit bored with my icons... have anything in mind? I wouldn't mind knocking out 5-15 custom icons for the dock...
Also...
http://findicons.com Is a pretty decent site... a lot of stuff for use on PC/Mac, but quite a bit of phone stuff too...
I like the clear kind of icon but really would like some super hero clear icons not sure if I'm being descriptive enough
V5 custom vibrant
Clear?
When you refer to "clear", do you mean transparent backgrounds or monochromatic semi-transparent? Also, are we talking the logos, the hero portraits or both? Lastly, are you looking for Marvel? D.C.? or more obscure publishers?

I use LauncherPro, but also use these icons when I use a native Android shorcut... any PNG should work really...
Also, I decided to slap all the icons I've created (not just superheroes) into a zip if anyone is interested (attached).

Enkyo CM9/AOKP theme

ENKYO theme for CM9 theme chooser.
I have ported ENKYO to a tee. Everything was transfered, but some things will not take affect.
-The volume glow, or the volume handle. ( check titanium Backup and you will see the red bar at bottom right.... they are red) same images used. but only themes what it wants
-Some Phone stuff
-Contacts Text and Bar (if you scroll the the left you will is the bar is themed, for some reason it doesn't theme all of them)
-Gmail text on RECENT will still be blue. but I have the xml as #ffb80000(RED)
I think I'm forgeting something but this took me a week to port. and I have done so tests on this... it's not even funny, it was like 100 times or so. I'm still looking into a work around, but will be updating this I'm sure

Ok fellow XDA members. I recently started using an app called Floating Soft Keys, made by @rhoadster91

Cool ! i like it!
Ideos-like touch key icons theme (Ideos Accents White)
- Still visible with any type of BG.
- Works best at size 70 and a transparency value of around 40.
- Made by a novice designer(me).
- Quite Simple to make.
I made a theme
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58453141&postcount=79
I made a simple theme by editing a few pictures i found online and making a few myself in ms paint. I used online-image-editor.com to add transparency too. I hope you guys like it. Actually I first made only a full white one but then as it would be invisible on a white background, i played around and made a few variations of the same thing. Use the one you like or make your own combos.
I've added a screenshot of the bordered white theme i'm using now with the size 27 and 3 pixel spacing.
I posted this in the original thread of the app. Please use the link to download them. I'm planning to use the same template and make one with black and white bands and leave all other insides and outsides transparent so that it will be even more minimalistic and still be usable in all backgrounds. I'll post that too when i do it.
I made the minimalistic one i told above about. This is the one i'll be using from now. Its more transparent, smaller filesize but still visible on all backgrounds. Feel free to mix-n-match to make your own theme.

Looking for button graphics.

i am looking for a button background graphic to replace the dull android one.
i have a square button with text, the text must be easily visible. i am looking for a graphic that's like webbed lightning. here is a really awful example i made

i would like more "lightning" but with a lower intensity, so text is easily visible on top of it. i think a size of 150x150 should be sufficient, i am also wanting the lighting in these colors dark blue, light blue, yellow, red, and green.
my Photoshop skills are not good enough to make this (i don't use photoshop), not exactly sure how to proceed about getting these graphics, any suggestions?

What exactly do you need? How to replace the button or how to make one?
i am looking for a place/people to get artwork.
the artwork i want is similiar to what i posted, the image i posted is a crappy version of what i want. as i don't have any good Photoshop skills, i was hoping to outsource this. its very hard to describe.
i goggled for hours trying to find some cool custom button themes/graphics, but couldn't find anything useful for me.
i was hoping people here can point me in the right direction.

Howdy, chumps. Before you get going on designing an Android app, it's important to know what kind of resources are available. Many people head straight to AI and just start designing from the ground up without knowing about all the amazing recourses available from Google. These recourses are going to focus only on the Graphical UI aspect of the app. So if you came here looking for technical stuff, I'm calling the cops.
While these are supposed to help you get started on your app design, they're also just a great source of free graphics, fonts and templates that can be used for anything.
I'm not saying you'll be a millionaire overnight but it can happen a lot sooner than you think.

Material Design Guidelines
So if you're wanting to embrace the material design standard to make your app look beautiful, this is where you start. The guideline will reference everything that you need to know to make your app look just as good as one from Google.
Icon Library
The icons library contains every icon that you would find within the stock Android system UI. They're great looking icons that you can use for anything. Download the .zip file that contains all of the icons because that's going to come in very handy as you begin to design your app.
Device Metrics
If you ever need to reference the exact size and resolution of a specific android device, this is where you will go. This section is always be updated with the newest devices and their deimensions.
Roboto & Noto fonts
Roboto is the default font for material design. If you want everything to look great without taking time to search through thousands of fonts, just use Roboto as your default. It will also tell you when to use white or black colored fonts.
Sticker sheets & icons
Here you'll find "stickers" which are basically premade graphical interfaces pieces. Everything from volume sliders to shadow effects can be downloed for free. This will help you put together a mockup of what you want your app to look like. Everything will be compatible with Adobe Illustrator which is most likely what you'll be working with most of the time.
Color Palette
Bookmar this page because you'll be coming back here a lot. This is the material design color palette. Pretty much any assortment of colors from this page will look good together.
There is so much more in Google's design resource site that it's basically a wonderland full of goodies. But if you're just starting out, use these sections to get going. You can also check out all the other great stuff that have at design.google.com/resources
