Made the Switch - HTC Rezound

Sooo, many of you may know that I had been trying to decide whether or not to make the exchange from the Nexus to the Rezound and today I did. Boy am I impressed and EXTREMELY happy with my decison! My favorite thing? Beats audio hands down. Such amazing sound from those headphones! More on what I love about it compared to the Nexus later...thanks for your help with my decision guys!
Sent from my Rezounding Rezound using Tapatalk

And it's going to get even better once we achieve s-off!

You and me both. I had traded a defective rezound in for the nexus and couldn't stay away. The rezound is a better phone.

The screen quality in my opinion is much much better than the Nexus as well. Higher PPI and a true RGB hd display. The color reproduction on slcd screens is also better IMO. Idk, I just love this phone. Lol. I also picked up the extended battery and it makes the phone super thick but for some reason it really doesn't bother me.

Welcome to the superior device. My friend that has a Gnex said my screen is pixelated.. I laughed straight into his face and I was like..Just like an apple fan boy! Always in denial.

I was on a waiting list for months to get the GN.
When I finally saw one however, I didn't want it anymore. What a cheaply made pile of ****.
Two of my coworkers have them (both are going back). One already has the back held on with duct tape.

I'm glad so many Android pros love this phone.it's my first smartphone and I really do love it. I stated researching at least 8 months ago and it finally came down to Rezound or Nexus and I picked this due to specs of screen and removable sd card and also because it had sense and I love it all! I'm keeping sense even after I learn how to root.

Beats audio sucks lol. I'm a audiophile. My photon sounded better than this phone until I installed dsp manager and used the virtual room option with beats audio enabled.
But out the box, I was disappointed, its no where near as loud as my photons output but everything else about the phone is better. But now with dsp manager installed, sound is amazing.

LOL, I'm not an "audiophile" although I could be.
I owned a very high end stereo shop for 10 years and sold audiophile amps/pre-amps/$50 a foot speaker wire, $10,000 speakers etc)
So yea, I can hear the difference but I don't really give a sh!t. As long as my music plays real loud & has plenty of bass I think it sounds just fine.
I LOVE the sound of my Rezound running both beats & DSP with the settings shown here listening through my Beats solo phones.

If you're looking for sound quality, the absolute best would be SGS with the voodoo kernel. SGS2 is the only other phone that comes close to that, but still not as good.
Went into the T-mobile store the other day to see if they had a Sensation dummy phone to show a friend. The worker was nice enough to let us play with an actual working one they had behind the counter, so I can really only comment on the build quality and screen. The Sensation is a nice piece of kit for sure. Sense 3.0 looked great on it, and there are certain things about Sense I like(copy and paste), but Vanilla Android on the G2X he also pulled out for us made Sense look really gaudy.
The Sensation actually feels like a high end phone and not some creaky plasticy device. You squeeze it and the screen doesn't have any give like corners of the Atrix screen...there are no creaks or any movement from the battery cover/casing either. It just felt solid...iphone4 solid. Sadly, the G2X also felt much nicer in the hand than the Atrix. The Sensation screen was also more impressive than my Atrix, brighter colors that didn't seem so washed out. No Pentile pixelation since it uses a better screen.
When the Sensation comes out in Canada for Bell, I think I'm going to import it, unlock it and use it on AT&T. By that time, HTC should have unlocked the bootloader and I can get rid of Sense with a custom ROM.
We'll see where it is on battery life, especially based upon HTC's poor track record. Add a larger screen, plus another processor is a recipe for disaster...

I'm sure a paper cone would be an improvement, but hey sounds good to me
This is good news, because whoever was in charge of the speakers in HTC devices until now needs to be fired. The speaker in the Evo 3D is probably the WORST speaker I have ever heard in a phone...ever.
Eh, I'm not too big on this. The Beats are overpriced moderate quality headphones; you can find much better headphones for the same price, and similar headphones for a much lower price. But it also goes to say that the Beats have a terrible overpowering bass that makes listening to any music that isn't rap terrible.
I can't see a ton of good in this. I see more expensive phones as the Beats start to draw the hypnotized audio market towards this idea.

Sound quality is good
Most people hate them because they assume it will have awesome bass because Dr.dre made them...
I think there are atleast 3 companies that make studio quality head phones that charge half of the price of beats
I have Ultrasone hfi-580's with bass boost
They blow beats out of the water
And for the price (120 dollars for standard pair) they will win me over
The only reason there so expensive is because a "has been" rapper turned recording artist (my opinion) has his name on it... They do look nice and hold up to some abuse... But for the average user they hold no water
Skull candies are better if you listen to rap
Not 300 dollar Chinese made Dr.dre beats

Beats sound good, but the price doesn't match the quality... They are way over priced
If this doesn't increase the price of HTC devices then great. If they try the sell select models (which they will) that feature Beats and slap a higher price on that particular phone... Than pass, and I'm pissed they went that route instead of just dumping that money into improving ALL their speakers in all their phones.

It's as if no one bothers reading the OP's post. He doesn't want the jaybirds.
To OP, I've heard great things about the Motorola, but honestly I would recommend going wired. No need to worry about BT. Try a tunebelt armband that has a Velcro strap for the dangling wire of the earphones. If you must have wireless, try the moto.

I actually DON'T recommend the Motos over the JayBirds... I have both brands, including both S9 and S10s, and still believe the JayBirds are better in sound quality and comfort. There really is nothing better right now, I don't think...
That's why people keep ignoring the damn first post and saying go with JayBirds, lol.
i see that jaybird came out with the new JF4 headphones which is 40% smaller then the freedoms but it has less battery time. They also didnt fix the reception issues.. oh well, ill wait and see for now guys.

It is very unlikely that HTC is going to beat Samsung in the near future. Samsung is outselling HTC almost 10 to 1. The GS3 is going to sell better because people will be more attracted to it because Samsung is the more popular brand. I will guarantee you that most of the sales that these phones see are from people who wouldn't even know the difference between 1GB of RAM and 2GB of RAM.
It's all about keeping up to date with their phones. Releasing updates to the OS a year after they've been released isn't the way to keep loyal customers.
Beats was one of the selling points for me as a semi-pro musician and audiophile. Combined with my high-end Ultimate Ears, it is unbeatable. Amazing!
With that said, cutting profit margins and releasing a flagship phone, instead of a chain of phones that are indecipherable and confusing would be a good idea for HTC. At least give them memorable, highly-marketable names, and pummel the target audience with effective advertising.
The recent HTC commercial was an epic fail.

I'll be honest.. I really liked the way my phone sounded with beats.. so much so I bought a pair of tours... anyways I do believe using Apollo with cm10 seems louder to me
Meaningless read, HTC could if it would and would if it could, it might since it could.
So back to reality. I rock the green house with beats over blue tooth into an installed system. Great sound, @ no 3g the battery drops about 3.5% an hour with bluetooth and gps on.
A nice strategy might be to compare HTC's "connectivity range" vs the rest. Of course they would have to build it like the OG. Sprint could then lower it's costs by having less towers, or Sprint could then claim to have increased it's network.
I personally think the DOC is more responsible for the improved sound than Beats. I have musician's ears and thousands of dollars of audio equipment, and I never turn beats on because all I hear is an increase in bass and a muddied mid-bass. Not a fan of it. Edit: I guess I should clarify. They are bass heavy headphones, but they aren't your typical bass-heavies. They boost mainly mid bass (as opposed to low bass), and they actually suppress mids and some of the highs. They're very boomy, but it sounds like a muddy mess to my ears. There's no definition in the mids whatsoever, and the highs get lost in the mix.
I can kinda agree with strike. But with the right eq app ( power amp is what I use) it can be cleaned up nicely. And much better sound than your average cheap ear buds.

Yea, but for $40, I'd rather buy a set of mid-range Sennheiser CX 300s or Kilpsch Image S3s. For the $100 the iBeats would normally set you back, I'd get a set of Shure SE215s.

if you are not getting them for free i wouldn't pay more for them. The build quality is trash im on my 3rd pair from HTC.
as shrike said you can get a better pair for the same price. Not worth paying more for something that was just added as a gimmick IMO
i to use poweramp and its the only way to make them sound less bassie.
It has taken me 7 months with this phone to slowly perfect the EQ in power amp to get the maximum audio quality from the iBeats.

Hey guys
I am getting a deal on rezound. The one with iBeats included is like $30-$35 more than the one without.
I am not able to decide if I should go with the one with the iBeats or the one without. Any idea?

I love mine. Best buds I have ever had. If you don't like bass don't get them. Personally I love deep bass.

I don't mind bass heavy buds at all, but you can get that without the loss of definition you get with Beats.

That's about the best answer to the OP's question so far.
Skull candy lifetime warranty really good sound.

i've had mine since black friday sale right after launch and no problems with mine. They work fine for what they are, mid-priced in ear headphones.
Had mine for a year so far..durable build imo. Still sound like the day I got em. Beats are more of a gimmick but the best ones I've had in a while... Keep in mind I rarely buy headphones

They're the best ear buds I've ever had, but I've only owned those old ghetto iPod ones and some Skullcandy ones (smokin', FMJ and titan). The only sign of wear is some chipping of the paint.
