[Q] Wierd bluetooth problem, can someone help perhaps? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I tried sending some files from my SGSII to my laptop today, and the phone tries to send them, but eventually doesn't send them. Pulling down the notification bar and clicking the notification for "Failed Bluetooth transfer", gives me the image below. I have no problem understanding the error message, but what confuses me is that my laptop does not prompt saying there is an incoming file and thus allowing me to accept it >_<

Have you added your phone to your laptop authorised devices, if you dont then your file transfer will always fail.

How would I go about doing that?
When I had a HTC Desire it was pretty darn easy with the laptop I had at that time. But that laptop ran XP.
My present setup with the SGS2 vs a Windows 7 laptop is proving more of a struggle. But where can I find the list of Authorized devices?

Does your laptop have Bluetooth transfer wizard?
If so set it to receive a file then send from phone.

When I click recieve file I just get a screen that tells me "When you want to recieve a file on your pc from your phone you just to send the file and then accept the dialog" and then I can cancel it :/
The Transfer wizard doesn't allow me to make the pc "wait" for an incoming recieval, it just tells me that i can always send files and then have to click the dialog that NEVER comes.

Unplugging USB from Win7

I often plug my S3 into a USB jack on my computer to charge it. For the life of me, I can't find how to safely "eject" the S3 from Windows 7.
Can someone help me out here? I feel like a complete idiot!!
Just in the explorer window, down near the clock. The small symbol (can't remember exactly what it is - I've been using Ubuntu for 3 years. ) with a small green bubble at the top right of the symbol. Right click that and choose eject whatever the phones name is.
I normally just unplug it without doing any of that though.

Should be like this. Left click the USB icon in the system tray.
You might need to click the up arrow at the left end of the system tray and a pop-up box will appear with additional icons.

MTP does not need to be ejected since it cannot cause corruption, only transfer or not transfer the files that are pending.

s4fseeker is spot on, you don't need to 'safely remove' with MTP, if you'd rather though you can connect the S3 in 'mass storage' mode
(Settings-->Developer options-->USB Debuging), tick this and Windows should now show the safely remove option.
I suspect this is why other posters do have the option in windows

Thanks everyone! I feel much better about unplugging my phone from Win7. Much appreciated! :good::good::good:

Is there any way I could get data off it, it still powers up but drivers are not recognized on PC, tried kies, mobiledit but usb device is not recognized. Think Bluetooth and wifi are also switched off.
Anything else I can try or is it a lost cause?

I can now see the phone in Kies but it is locked due to a password needed on the device, no screen means I cant put in the password arrgggghhhh!!!
You can try to install custom recovery and then mount it to your pc if the display is not broken or you can look at the picture could be risky cause you maybwipe all data. Or you need to replace digitizer and the display

Display is totally gone.
Decided to leave it, he will have to get over it lol.
At least I now have a spare battery for mine.

Unable to transfer files to PC

Hello. I own a Xiaomi Redmi 7A. Since the very beginning I have issues transfering files to PC.
First of all, the device barely loads on Windows 10. Whenever I try to move files or even simply open folders, it freezes. Never had this problem before with any Android device, either from Samsung or LG. Or whatever other brand (not even those cheap Chinese freaks).
But whenever I connect my 7A to PC, I have to quickly try to move files before 30 seconds or so. After that, it totally freezes. Or files don't respond. Or explorer.exe doesn't respond.
I have tried reinstalling drivers, activating debugging mode and tons of other things I could find on internet, having NO success at all. Tried with my mom's laptop (Windows 7) and I was surprised I got the exact same problem. So, I came to this forum, cause I believe you guys are the only one who can save me.
I didn't want to get a new phone, because I got this one only 4 months ago, so... But seems like I'm going to have to get a new one asap.
Examples of the dozens of problems I've been experience:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(Failure moving File or Folder - Catastrophic failure)
(Hanging forever/files don't show)
Eternal copying (that can't be cancelled and still freezes)
Some more different errors (googled it and no success finding a decent fix)
Seems to be a mass storage bug with either the device or Windows
