[Q] Magnetic lenses on both Cameras of Evo 3D? - HTC EVO 3D

I've scoured the interwebs/googled this to death to no avail, so i decided to ask here.
Would using two magnetic, camera phone lenses on the Evo 3D's cameras work. it seems no one's actually tried this.
I ask because, after watching a few GoPro 3D videos, i realized that GoPro cameras have a permanent wide-angle lens on it, and go curious as to whether it'd work on my phone as a less expensive solution.
I have one magnetic lens already which i use and love but i'd rather know it works before i spend the money. i don't understand the workings of stereoscopicy when using wide angle lense.
any help appreciated!

It would work as long as both lenses are identical. But I'd be nervous of bringing anything magnetic to any of my electronics. That's got a reputation of bad things... But maybe it's safe for a phone?

A lens that attaches magnetically, lol.

Lol i cant post a link because ima noob so ill just say that it's like i simplified camera lens that is smaller and made for cellohones. So instead of screwing it on like a regular camera, you stick a metal ring with adhesive around your phones camera and the lens has a magnet that sticks to this ring

I remember seeing something similar for the EVO 4G, and it worked pretty well.

Yes, it was a magnetic macro lens. It did wonders for the 4G.

Poor housing?

Anyone coming from the Original EVO, knows that in the Charge and HDMI port it contains red scratches...
Well the EVO 3D front housing has like gray scraches, I remember one time, they were some complains about the camera lens if you put it together in your pocket with your keys, well, the lenses pass the test but the front housing for me dint, I often put my keys and my phone in the same pocket and now I have some gray scraches, LOL

just tryin'a benefit my fellow man. you are most welcome, good sir.
and now comes the part where i give you some ****.... because it's funny, and you need it.
you should have titled this thread "poor decisions when deciding where to put my keys and phone on a daily basis. and furthermore, i know glass can scratch, regardless of what phone companies say.... metal>glass in durability."
lol

i think you are just trying to cover for yourself now.... its a ****ing GAGGLE of keys, isn't it? isn't it!?!!?
sorry.
I'm reminded of something my dad used to always say:
A guy goes to the doctor and says, "It hurts when I do this" and the doctor replied, "Stop doing that."
Only thing going in my pocket when my phone is in there is my hand. It's pretty silly to think sharp metal objects won't scratch up a plastic device when they are moving around and rubbing each other.

Lenses for the camera

Has anyone purchased any lenses?
With the camera ring being metal, it would be great to put a magnetic lens on there. I see a lot for the iPhone, they seem pretty fun.

Isnt the CPU and SD card right by the lens? Dont think Ill be waving any magnets around mine, maybe Im just being overly cautious.
Must be something else inside of it then

Seems like it would be too weak to hurt anything.
"There's nothing magnetic in flash memory, so [a magnet] won't do anything," says Bill Frank, executive director of the CompactFlash Association. "A magnet powerful enough to disturb the electrons in flash would be powerful enough to suck the iron out of your blood cells," says Frank.

I've got one of those magnetic Macro lenses from my Og evo.. I'll test it out when I get home from work.
What about the Flash?
I think the flash might get blocked or be in the way

The flash isn't needed for those kind of shots so it should be ok.

XWay Car Mount

Has anyone tried this yet? I would probably get it and stick the disk on my commuter case.
If anyone has it and its working could you post pictures? Ill provide a link, so if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, you will.

Yes these are awesome. I used one with my OG EVO for a while with the glue on magnet on the back of a seidio case. They get a little pricey. They sell them and have them on display for testing at Frye's electronics if you live anywhere close to one. They are built well and use a powerful magnet. I would definitely get one if I wasn't getting the dock.
I really wanna see 1 in action before I buy 1. I have heard great things tho.
I thought about getting the dock that sprint has but my buddy just got it and it scratched his phone. So I don't think I'm gonna now.

If you live anywhere near a Frye's I know they have them on display. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awh6QP8-BBE This is a pretty good review. The X arms on the X-way allow the phone not to rotate freely unless you choose to do so (if you go over a bump it won't go from portrait to landscape, but you can rotate it with ease by hand) unlike the free mount. The magnets are super strong and they won't weaken over time.

Foggy lens of camera?

Since a few weeks the pictures I take with my HOX+ appear a bit foggy. See example. Is there anything I can do about it?

I have just tried the toothpaste trick, convinced that it wouldn't work (and would probably wreck my phone)
5 - 10 mins later, rubbing toothpaste on with my finger, then wiping it clean with a damp cloth.
Astonishing difference! Not only does the camera now work brilliantly with no more mistly, milky lens flare, but my phone smells minty fresh (and still works).
Seriously, give it a go - 10 mins effort tops, and you can still send it in for repair after.
The obvious difference was that the coating on the lens was rubbed off, and I have noticed only good things as a result.
YMMV, but what have you got to lose?

Okay I'm starting to get this effect on my phone but I'm scared that if I rub off the coating, the lens will get permanently scratched afterwords.
Has anyone had any problems like this after this procedure?

Its been almost two weeks, the lens is still perfect even though I have been traveling
Hi,
I also just "cleaned" the lens with some tooth-paste, and removed the scratched/worn-off lens coating.
Now the lens is visually clear again, and my pictures are fabulous as usual!
Don't know where the coating was used for exactly, but removing the coating doesn't seemed to influence the picture quality at all.
Thanks for the great tip!

Hi,
Great idea, great result!
I found that my pictures start to be foggy and blurry. Camera lens wasn't scratched, but it's look like to have some tiny dirty scratched film over it.
I tried this cleaning idea, and succeed!
Thank you. My pictures are great again!
In the end I did it as well and the results are amazing.
I'm sad I didn't do it before I went on holiday, all my pictures would have been of better quality.
thanks worked great!
incredible. it worked perfectly for me!
thanks a lot!!
It's almost 2016 and it worked for my Z1 Compact

Camera lens is supposed to be scratch resistant sapphire. check out this video

Even with a brand new phone, i noticed tiny scratches ( you have to use a magnifying glass or slowly rotate it in the right light to see)
and phone has been no where near the insides of any pocket or un raised over any surface with my case. it hasn't seen a single touch or wipe.
some have called them surface stress scratches due to manufacturing.

anyone else?
Funny you mention it, my buddies camera was terrible, looked foggy and blurry...his lens is scratched really really badly. My camera works great, but when I looked it was also really badly scratched, we both use the same case too. It sucks that it picks up scratches so easily.

This!!!
There's a few threads in this problem my lense has these marks in it. I can get a definitive answer if it actually affects photo quality. Mine seems to take pretty good photos

its not even g2...the lens is square instead of circle...fakee
To be that badly scratched im not sure how gentle this use was lol,im using mine without a case from when i got it.And it only has 1 superfine minor scratch you can see only in certain angles if you put it directly to the sun.And it was there from when i got it.
yep big long scratch on my Verizon one.

Can't recall....Did that lens ship with protective plastic on it? If so, did you remove it? I literally just discovered I missed the plastic over the volume and power button, so I thought it might be a possibility.

maybe verizon opted out of the sapphire and put glass? mine is perfect
Scratch that... Verizon wireless page says it is:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/device/smartphone/lg-g2
maybe the finish is different.. my D800 looks like it just came out of the box.. I don't use a case
My verizon one looks like crap. Looks cloudy due to abrasions. I am really good about not putting the phone in my pocket with keys and stuff. I don 't know but when I look in the light I see a worn looking spot that does not look right... like abrasion wear or something. I think it affects my picture quality. Don't think pictures are properly focused because of it.
