[HOW-TO] Enabled GSM Phone calls on the JTC Jetstream (S-OFF - ROOT - WIP) - HTC Jetstream

So to make and receive phonecalls on you 3G Jetstream:
Prerequisite:
1) 3G JetStream
2) S-Off (get yours from HTCDev now!)
3) Root (get yours from DoomLord)
Using root explorer or your favorite text editor edit the build.prop file under /system/build.prop
You could also use Prop edit (free in the market).
edit the following lines:
Code:
ro.ril.reject.cs.ss.enabled=0
ro.ril.reject.mo.ussd.enabled=0
ro.phone.function=1
To enable Bt Headset profile change the following:
Code:
ro.bt.profiles = 4270403
service.brcm.bt.ag_supported = 1
Save your changes and reboot your device.
Look under the programs menu you will see the phone app .
You will now be able to make and receive calls.
WITHOUT SOUND!
Tested on AT&T HTC Jetstream With Dutch "Hi" simcard!
If this helped you Just Thank me !
Reports are rolling in that calling works but sound doesn't work, not through speaker/Bluetooth or normal.
As I have only found these buildprop tweaks, I don't really know what's going on behind it!
Enjoy!

Thanks; how about the messaging interface, does it has one? If so, do I use the build.prop to enable it?

I have been trying to get the message app to work too
But when looking into the /system/app folder there is no messaging apk (MMS.apk)
So the app is not existing..
I have tried grabbing the apk from several Honeycomb Flyer roms, but they do not work
I'm hoping one of the flyer devs will post an MMS.apk which we can place in /system/app to make it work.
The htc.messaging.3dwidget.apk from the flyer DOES work, but after adding the Messaging widget, Sense keeps force closing..
I have also tried a few MMS.apk's I found all over XDA, but none of them work
Could be because they are outdated (gingerbread instead of Honeycomb) or because they just wo'nt work with this device..
I'm not sure!
Thanks for trying this.
I'll keep investigating!

Is the jetstream already carrier unlocked? Or did you buy an unlock code? From who?

HTCDev supports the Jetstream although it's not listed!
Just try it and it will work!

they added the Jetstream to the list.

Yes I know that unlock bootloader is supported by htcdev. But s-off is supported too? First post says soonly supported.

I AM trying to change Super CID BUT I couldn't
Sent from my HTC PG09410 using Tapatalk

Yes thats it. You cannot supercid an s-on and/or nand protected device. Htcdev only support to unlock bootloader. Only factory method with factory smartcard can able to fully unlock htc devices. That means (s-off,supercid,nand unlock,remove simlock,clear talk time,goldcard) your device is fully unlocked. Or buy an xtc clip which supports several htc phones with android,wp7,winmobile.

Oh, Sorry for the misunderstanding, i didn't know this yet !
We learn something everyday!

holy sh!t 10" android gsm phone! cool beans! can we get a photo of what it might look like carrying it around in a pocket? j/k
excellent work. who would of though it would be that easy? that monster must have been draining mega battery before.
cheers!

Stupid questions,but, would EVO mms not work? Has that been tried ?
Also, what fees would occur with using jetstream as a phone with data only plan.
This is great for me because I can have my sprint calls forwarded to my jetstream when I visit my parents who only have ATT service.

so, wait, the root access isn't enough?"
more defences to crack?
htc are such basterds..

Flyer root method for Jetstream?

It looks as if there are no devs for the Jetstream, but if anyone more Android savvy than myself would like to give this a look over to see if any of the HTC Flyer methods are possible in regards to S-off and root for the Jetstream, I would appreciate it.
I know that the flyer is a gingerbread device, but the underlying hardware is very similar to the Jetstream.
I will gladly donate money to anyone who figures out a root method for the Jetstream
Here is a link to S-Off and Root for the flyer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198650
I don't think it would work.... For the fact that there are a number of prerequisite tasks to get Honeycomb on Flyer....
I would donate, too!
+1 for a donation, it would be nice to have root again.
+1 for donation from me too..!!

Any idea what the sim toolkit's actually supposed to do? 'Cause I've seen it pop up on my Inspire as well and it does absolutely nothing
Your service provider can add features that is accessible like registering for ringtones on their network and premium stuff. T-Mobile doesn't do that though.
It also can save contacts on there also. Import and export them to your phone...I don't use it because gmail already does that. So it actually does work with our phones.
Wait....I sent this with Tapatalk?
Exactly... And it works on mine.
I manage to find it with the search, but I cant find it in menu
I remember yesterday I was reading a new email, I hit back button to exit out, then it pop up

Best Practices for our new EVO LTEs.

I have my two new EVO LTEs in hand. From an experienced user, what should we do?
I don't want to mess with ROMs for a while but I want to root my phones to use TitaniumBackup, remove any bloatware, and enable WiFi hotspot.

Yeah, I probably didn't ask the question the best way. I just don't want to screw myself if I update it and then have to delay getting a root method. I think if I root it and then perform and OTA update, I'll lose root, which kinda forces me to use ROMs.
Arghhh... I know stuff, but not to the extent I should to run off in the corner by myself with this thing.
OR you could just HTCDEV unlock, install Superuser, and have yourself a Gay Ol' Time!

I read that earlier but someone said it would void the warranty. HTCDEV unlock is new news to me as well.
I need to do some reading on the forums. I respectfully don't expect people to spoon feed it to me. I know that's rude. I just thought a best practices general outline would be helpful. I can search to find out how to do any of the suggestions.

To make a call enter the numbers on the touch pad or select the desired number from contacts.
It is also possible to send and receive emails and even browse the internet, using an aptly named "browser."

It's really hard to get a device S-Off, look at the HTC One X and One X+, they still don't have S-Off too.
Although you can get HTCDev unlocked, look at the tutorial by nloooooo to see how to do that.
:[
O well i really wanted this but I'll try my luck asking htc support
HTC support will definitely not get your device S-Off, they don't want that.

damn, this security thing sucks. but hey, if you want to remove system-apks /****ty bloatware you can do so by using aroma file manager in cwm. check "auto mount...." in settings and there you go
just be aware that removing the wrong apks may f*ck up your rom (oh, really?), so a nandroid-backup is recommended :silly:

It isn't possible yet, there's workarounds for deleting system apps etc.
The community is very small, but picking up, and there are some great devs beavering away quietly.
Patience or bricking your phone are the options atm.
