[VIEW] Car Charger - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I ordered one of these for the View. Hopefully, since it's OEM the output is correct, 9v and 1.67a like the wall charger. Not a bad price either.
Got it here:

I've got one from ebay for $4.99.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180719086242?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Works fine.

Using the View for GPS Navigation in my car. Need lots of power to charge it and keep it there.

I got one when I ordered my Flyer... I only had two areas where I didn't want to give in: standard USB connection and the ability to charge it in a car... So, it only made sense to get the charger right from the start.

Nice, I need one of these.

battery charger

do there exist any battery chargers that are not cradles? I don't need a cradle. But I need to be able to charge my spare battery when I'm travelling. I'm not going to carry my cradle while flying around. But I don't see any battery chargers for sale, I mean ones like we use for our camera batteries. What's the deal?
also, are there any standards in batteries within HTC? or does each model use a different type of battery

thanks for the link... for $10 US Dollars, its worth trying out...
i received the charger and - so far - it appears to be working very well. one plus is that it has a USB cord that allows you to use your laptop or a cigarette lighter adapter to charge your battery. it also has the built-in prongs to plug into the wall. certainly a good investment (so far)...
What? I thot the USB cord was to use it as a USB charger for the actual PDA? Ur saying it can charge the battery from a laptop too? Sounds good. Now if only my TC would actually get delivered to me...

yes, the charger came with a USB-to-USB cable so that i can use the charger from my laptop or any device that supports a USB connection.
I use this one...
http://www.boxwave.com/products/versachargerpro/index.htm
It has a car charger, wall socket charger, airplane charger all in one!
it has modules for american and european plug outlets as well
It's a little expensive but well worth it, cause it basically takes 3 different pieces and combines them into one
I'm waiting for that one to arrive as well, actually my TC is so delayed and we get it until next month...
But I thought the battery charger was also capable of being used as a charger.
anyway, as for the aeroplane charger I've never been on an airline that has a charging socket. Maybe you need to be in business class?
Yeah, only a select few airlines have the chargers in the seats...but either way it's good to have something like that when it's available...BTW, how much did you pay for the spare battery?
I also bought that Battery Adapter PRO thing from boxwave...it looks pretty cool, it uses AA batteries in a box to recharge your phone, and it says it can sustain 5 charge cycles from one set of batteries. Looks kinda cool. I hope to receive that, and the cradle I bought from them tomorrow.
Not enough power to charge direct to the phone.

I have tried to use the USB charge direct to the TC, but It cannot provide enough power to charge direct the Phone:
USB Travels Charger:
Input: AC 110-240v 50/60Hz
Output: DC 4.2V 350mA (Charge the second battery)
Output: USB 5.0V 800mA** (I tried to use this to charge my TC)
HTC original wall charger:
Input: AC 100-240v 50/60Hz
Output: miniUSB 5V 1000mA**
However, If you only want to get power from notebook or car to charge the second batter, it's OK.
Actually 800mA is OK to top up, but only if your batt has say 15%+ left.
My battery is on order, HTC official one for 29 pounds.
I wonder about the ebay ones for US$5, but I've been burnt on a camera batt once, brand new off ebay, canon packaging $20 vs $40 in store, max charge was like 20%...
Tho now I think of it 30P is a lot...

Seems like a pretty standard plug, so if you find a charger with the same specs online it will work. If the plug doesn't match you could always solder yours on a new charger's cable.
12V DC and can handle a 2A load
Check out Mouser or Digikey: http://www.mouser.com/Power/Plug-In-AC-Adapters/_/N-wp53?P=1z0wda1
I found this one that I bet would be good enough:

The alternative too is to find an ac adapter that provides the correct output as the original wall wart, but maybe has a different plug at the end. Just cut off the incorrect plug, cut off the OE plug with some amount of wire, strip back, check polarity, and reattach, and electrical tape it. Good for an emergency situation like this.
test the AC adapter first.....I read another guys tablet stopped charging during a cm flash.
My theory is that your AC adapter is fine....they only tend to "break" when there is a short in the device.
And you can pick one up at radio shack. 12v 2amp tip positive.

The AC adapter no longer lights up when it is plugged in. The actual adapter light on the plug.
It charged fine on CM6.1 for the first few days

There is a switch near the plugs on the adapter, and if you move it over the plug will slide off. Is it making a good connection with that module?
mobile or wall wart?
Radio Shack has plenty of the chargers that fit the gtab. here is one I picked up for 12v cig. lighter charging. works great, and the tip is rotatable to accomodate the polarity we need.

Thanks for sharing this! great buy. just ordered one.:good:
Thx, bought.
I ordered one too.. I am going to check if the dock is actually charging my Note as "AC" instead of "USB".
I ordered a cheap dock and battery charger (brand is Hyperion --> here) and it charges my Note in "USB" mode. Not only it takes longer, but the Note have issue such that with USB charging, the Note will stop going to Deep Sleep (search XDA for this) when unplugged from USB charger and it loses the battery much faster. The only solution is to REBOOT the phone..which is very annoying at the very least.
MHL wont work
Well apparently, this dock is only good for charging / desk clock only.
you can not use MHL cable behind the dock and HDMI out.
It doses charges via MHL cable but dose not do HDMI out.
I know tht part sucks the most, but that is what it is.

I just found this out yesterday, but: if you have a spare battery and want to charge that and your phone, use the right port to charge both.

With this dock, it only gives up to 500mA. Samsung and HTC OEM charger give 1100mA.
Also, I tried the charger with both the International Note (shown as USB charging) and AT&T (shown as AC charge but gives 500mA).
However, for charging extra battery it is indeed useful.

Oh ok! That's really helpful info. Also, I thought you meant that there was an actual "mode" that the phone went into charge.
Do you know if the official Samsung dock charges gives 1100mA?
Have you tried using different cables and the samsung wall charger with the cradle? On a previous phone I had an Anker cradle. The wall charger that came with it did the same thing but when I connected my HTC charger to it all was fine.

I have. I even get a replacement dock from the seller and same result. The dock have 2 microUSB port: one for "sync" and the other for "charge" using the included power supplies. I tried connecting one and the other and then even connecting BOTH at the same time (to power supplies, to laptop, etc.)
FYI, the dock have TWO charging capacity: for phone and extra battery. The power supply that came with the dock is rated 1.5mA. I maybe wrong, but maybe the circuitry inside the dock prevent it from receiving more than 500mA to charge both the Note and the battery at the same time?
I don't have the Samsung OEM charger, so I don't know if this is common to all dock.

Charging cable

I am in need of a few 20 awg charging cables, just like the oem one. I have a pile of various cables here, some are charge only, but none seem to charge as good as the original one. I have been looking online, and can't find anything good. Can anyone suggest anything?

EDIT: The Kopi 20AWG cord charges at high rate, comparable to the OEM charging cord.

I'm new so I can't post links yet, but I bought one from Kopi Incorporation Limited through amazon. I searched 20 awg charging cable and it was the one that came up with the best reviews.
I had bought a 2.1A car charger for my new G3 and the cord that came with it was absolute crap. Wouldn't charge the phone at all. I am hoping this will work for that as well as the OEM cable does. I will post results once I get it on Monday.

Well a couple of days ago I was on my way home from work and I was at around 30% on my Nexus. Out of curiosity I plugged the phone into a 2A Anker charger (which worked really well with my M8... 1%/min) and it said it would be fully charged in about 2 hours. I then plugged the phone into the PowerMod Quick Charge charger and it said it would be fully charged in about 50 something minutes. So I would say pretty well! My phone was fully charged by the time I got home (my commute is about an hour 15 minutes).

I have the Incipio QC 2.0 car charger, it works as intended for QC 2.0. I had the PowerMod one, but it was a little loose in my car outlet so it would lose power sometimes if you bumped it accidentally. There's another OP about car chargers which I meant to post pictures of my charger in. The nice part about the Incipio is it has a USB port so you can use your own cable. I tried the VZW which was nice, but I don't like chargers where I can't replace the cable if/when it wears out. The VZW one is also 35$ compared to $21 for the Incipio on Amazon with Prime shipping (thats what I paid for it) and you get a nice coiled cable for a good deal on there and still have money left over compared to the VZW one.
I originally had the Incipio car charger, but I had to return it because it didn't work in my car's charging port, for some reason (it worked in another car, so not sure). Also, The Incipio one was too large, as I'm used to slim car chargers that barely stick out. And while it's not a big deal, the Incipio one didn't come with a microUSB cable.
After a bit of searching, I found the Ventev Dashport Q1200. It's a little hard to find right now, but here's a listing on Amazon. From what I could see, this one was the only QC 2.0 compatible car charger that was also slim. It also came with a flat ribbon-style microUSB cable.
