Gmail Google sync issues? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I posted this on another website...but you guys at CDS are usually the best with solutions..do here goes...
Not sure if this is a prime thing, tablet thing or honeycomb thing...but here goes...
I have a huge pet peeve that I slowly discovered...I have my old milestone phone next to me and my prime in my hands...when I receive an email on my gmail account, I get it near instantaneously in my phone...but in my tablet, it takes anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes.
All my sync settings are fine and on...I tried clearing my gmail data..changing from echo to balanced to normal modes..and no significant difference...
Anyone know what may be causing this?
Thanks...

I've noticed the same thing. I'm not sure what causes it. But it would be interesting to see why

Are you using the Mail or GMail App? I have noticed the Mail App does not have "Push" Sync Capabilities to GMail accounts. You can only set polling intervals. Try setting up the GMail App and see if your results improve.

What kind of connection were you using on your Droid? Wifi or mobile data?
Because push via wifi is very slow...if your are on mobile data switch to wifi and test again

I am having the same issue, using the Gmail app on both devices, both are on the same wifi network as well. I hear my phone notification go off but I have to go into Gmail and refresh to get the new emails to appear.

I am using the gmail app...not the email one...I know about the push for gmail, that is why I use it with my phone
I guess it may be wifi since it is a wifi only tablet and my phone is on both wifi and hspa...
Glad to hear it's not only me having/noticing this issue...but kind of disappointed that there might be no fix for this?
If anyone knows, please let me/us know!
But it's interesting that even on wifi we seem to still have the problem...

Yep I'm having this issue as well.
TF201 / XDA premium

My phone is instant. Then Outlook will go off, then my tablet.

Well..hopefully the ics update will help or even fix the issue. Can't wait...supposed to come in February at the latest...we'll see
Other than these little possible adjustments...love my prime so far!

[Q] GTalk and Make it So issue

Hey
Just seeing if anyone having problems with Gtalk and Make It So.
For some reason I cant get Gtalk to sign in. It tries to sign in but just cant. Also Make it So just doesn't work for some reason, does it work for anyone? Its not needed, but thought it would be cool.
Apart from these issues, love the pad but wish it had HDMI out and Java though.
Done all the patches and mods and seems to work really well
Thanks in advance
I've been using Gtalk and Make it so since day two, not issues here, that i'm aware of.

Did you use your gmail account as your webpage account? I'm thinking factory reset and start again.
If your Google password has special characters ([email protected]#$%&*?/ etc) it will give an error.

[Q] Gtalk on webOS
I'm having a little trouble getting WebOS to connect to my Gtalk account, it's not a matter of it not getting on with my Google account at all (it syncs contacts and everything else) but it just can't seem to connect to gtalk. I've enabled it in settings and still nothing.
The plan was to forward my texts through Gtalk so that I could reply on the Touchpad, but this is causing a little trouble.
Thanks in advance.
Working fine here

I did a lot more reading on it and it appears to be a problem with certain routers. This is most likely a bug on behalf of HP/Palm. Turns out Draytek/Netgear routers don't agree with Gtalk on the device. Colour me confused.

that is definitely odd.
i use a netgear wireless router as an access point...and vyatta as my core router.
I can confirm this as 100% annoying especially as the IM works quiet well at my mums but wont work at my house.
[Q] Touchpad Gtalk issues?
Anyone else having issues signing into Google Talk on the Touchpad's messaging application?
Skype worked fine, Gtalk keeps asking me to check my account - enter the password again and it does nothing - change to available/busy and it asks for account details again.
will try signing in using a wifi hotspot from my desire later...
hopefully the 3.0.3 or whatever OTA comes out fixes this
tried connected to wifi hotspot from htc desire and failed to sign in to gtalk
Have the exact same problem over the last few days
hi folks.. I'm having the exact same problem.. Skype and Gtalk IM both worked for a long time, than about 3-4 days ago, Gtalk IM will not sign in.
I too have a Draytek router but still, it use to work. I also have Make it So but had that installed for over a week.... Weird stuff going on here...
What is "Make it so"
Don't see it in the market.
[solved] enable google account 2 step auth
go to gmail ...account settings... Enable 2 step auth or if you already did, add new device. Once I did that and input new password on TP I was able to sign into gtalk.

Motorola Email App not pushing emails all the time

I am using Motorola Email App on my RAZR instead of Gmail App because of the looks and functionality.
The problem with Motorola Email App is that not pushing Gmail accounts all the time and sometimes I have to do a manual sync to receive my new emails. But some times it works just fine.
What could be the posible reason of this behaviour?
Hi,
I have the exactly same issue as you have - my imap accounts are not getting pushed emails but the gmail application itself is ok so it seems that only the motorola's email application is affected...
I rised a ticket to motorola's support because this behavior is not acceptable but they told me that they in fact don't know whats wrong and I should wait for the update which MIGHT fix the issue but they are not sure:
Our technician advises that a software update might address the described fault, however we cannot guarantee this.

Hi I sometimes experience this at customers wifi network.
For 3g it works just perfect, on wifi at home also.
On customers side via wifi, nothing happens. I have to do refresh manually.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
First I tough it might be a wifi issue so I focused at it for 2 weeks but for me it happens no matter if I am on wifi or 3g... Usually I am on 3-4 different wifi networks during the day and no difference at all... :-(
More info here: push email does not work

Tablet Talk App

So since I've been using tablets since the xoom came out I always wanted to be able to send texts through my tablet but have them send with my phone's number. At first there was syncSMS, which was pretty good but required drop box to sync up messages. Then I started using Text tab which would pair the devices with BT. The app was ok, the interface wasnt that great but it did the job. I just bought Tablet Talk from the market and I have to say I LOVE this app, not only does it give you the option to connect via BT or Wifi(must be on same wifi network) but the interface is much better than text tab. Plus you can control your mobile phone. Meaning, if you want to call someone it has a dialer and when you dial from your tab it will place the call on your handset, you can even activate speakerphone on your mobile phone. Granted you need to have your phone close for the calling stuff and I am wondering if you connect the two via BT if you can actually use your tab to talk(I havent tested on BT yet) but I think it's still pretty neat. And when you get a call it displays the caller id number on your tab so no more having to pull the phone out of your pocket to see who's calling.
I have been using it over wifi since last night and havent even seen it eat much battery at all and I left it running all night. Anyway, I would HIGHLY recommend this app... It's the best Tab/Phone SMS app I've seen so far
ok so no audio routing when connected via BT, but it's still a pretty cool feature
When I get a call it shows me who is calling on my tab, and also rings on the tab. You can answer the call from the tab but it activates the handset, but as I said in the OP from the tab you can also activate the speakerphone on your phone
Try...
Tablet Talk

it routes the audio as well?
edit: My bad... that's the app I have.. lol I dont know why I thought it was Tablet Text. I dont see a way to route the audio though. It just activates the call on the phone
Is there a way for it to recognize the hotspot app on your phone as the wifi network? I have the hotspot on my phone enabled..but it still ask me to connect to a wifi network.
Have you tried the Sidecar app? It is available in the Play market.

hmm not sure.. I havent tried.. but why not just connect via bluetooth?
I haven't tested it extensively, but it definitely looks like a good app. I will be testing it more once I start making progress on installing the tablet in the car.
I bought it the other day and wished I did the trial first. It does work well, but my phone seems to disconnect often from Bluetooth. So then I have to manually turn the screen on and reconnect.
Guess I need to fool with the settings on my phone some more. It's very useful, except for this little quirk I'm having.

hmm that's odd. Email the dev, I emailed him a couple of questions and he replied pretty quickly. The first time within hours of my email, the 2nd one a day or two after.
It seems to be an ics issue on the Evo 3D leaks. All of them have this issue for me. That's why I think I need to play around in my wifi settings a bit. Thanks for the suggestion though

[Q] AT&T Data usage

Hello quick question my wife has an SGS2 and for some reason it is accessing the internet every morning when she leaves for work and at night when she leaves work to come home almost never during the time she is in her office but while she is driving. We recently bought a new well used but new to us car a 2011 Kia Sorrento could the car be causing the problem? We do not have any streaming music apps the data usage is between 10 and 20 megs at a time. I just found out about the issue via email from AT&T and installed a data manager to see what is running but thought I might ask here. Her phone is 100% bone stock running 2.3.6 Thanks for your help. John
It sounds like an app is updating/refreshing. Try turning off you sync and testing again.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
It's most definitely a sync issue. It sounds like there's an app that is constantly refreshing itself and grabbing data so take a look at what apps she has installed on her phone. If you turn sync/background data off totally you can avoid this making it so the phone will only use data when apps are open on the phone and being actively used. Try going through and checking the sync rate of apps like facebook. Also, does she put her phone on a dock in the car causing it to be awake the whole time? If so, with it being awake, it could possibly be syncing widgets or apps that aren't running in the background.
Using the data manager is pretty much the only way you're going to figure out exactly what's using your data so that's going to be your only firm answer on what's happening.

The car is the problem. My ford focus once tried to assimilate my phone and I had to put her down. A bullet right between the eyes kills these bastards.
I don't know about syncing, but I had an issue with AP Mobile. Do not use this pile of filth. If you have, delete all icons/widgets and delete all data with the clear data option in applications menu. Then, force stop and reboot. Don't touch it again!
Not only that, but AP is a group of crooked d-bags anyhow. Anyway, I hope you figure out how to solve the syncing issue.

Problem solved I blew up the car with the Phone in it no more data issue.
On a serious note I think it is the Amazon app store it is used like 20 megs today and my data plan is only 200 megs a month. Ill go over all of the apps that are using a meg or more a day and check the settings for the option to update over wifi only or something similar. Than you all for your input and advice. John

Very simple battery life trick

This is a simple trick I use when I am near a computer anyway to save battery life. Its so simple it hurts. And I'm sure most already know how.
Go to settings>accounts&sync > turn off auto sync. There you go.
I usually do not charge my phone for couple days unless I get flash happy trying to fix problems.
What is the point of having a smartphone if you don't have things syncing? Seems extremely pointless to me.

turning off the phone also works really well...as does avoiding all web surfing, music and video playing...lol
you guys missed the point where i said when i'm around a computer. Like when i'm at home, i'm usually logged into this site, gmail and 4 other sites, so no point in having my phone auto sync. You can always manually sync every couple of hours.
This was a suggestion for people that are looking to get a little extra battery life, not for sneers and condescending little remarks that are unhelpful.
If you have something negative to say. Please keep it to yourself.

No, it does not. During airplane mode, you cannot send recieve text, or send and recv calls. Also data features during gameplay does not work in airplane mode.
Look guys if you don't have anything positive to add. Then please don't add it.

At my work there's only 2G but my phone signal is fine. So I drop my radio to CDMA ONLY (1X). They have a 3G WiFi so I connect my Nexus 7 and I go one further after I disable Sync on my power widget control, I disable Mobile data. Its redundant, my tablet has all email and internet functions. My phone still works fine for calls, text messaging and I can even take a picture and send/receive it mms, even with Mobile data off. When I send or receive an MMS, the 1X icon pops up so it accesses the internet for that task then goes back to being off. I have no problem making my super phone a dumb phone when I don't need the internet tapped to my hip for no reason, I'd rather get better battery life! As soon as I need to, I can go right back to super phone, but you can't do that with a dumb phone
I do turn of the sync do my battery can go further since I'm not always around a plug and still don't turn it on since I don't like my notification bar cluttered. So I turn off the mobile network and WiFi when I don't use them.

This is a good idea, particularly if you couple it with something like Tasker or Locale, so that auto-sync is automatically turned off when you are at certain locations... (like home or the office).
what exactly does the sync toggle feature disable? when it comes to google services?
