[Q] How to find and destroy hidden badly installed app? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi community.
I have Asus TF101 running on rooted 3.2.1, Revolver 3.11 ROM.
Here's situation:
I've installed from mobile market a game named Blood&Glory. It downloaded additional files, game start ok, I've played for few minutes and quit it. Later, I've decided to run it again but can't find it in installed apps. Mobile market's "My apps" also do not have it in list as if I haven't installed it ever. But web market do says that I have it installed. It was yesterday.
Today, I was going to watch some movie on my TF101, so I plugged earbuds and surprise! I was hearing music from that Blood&Glory game intro! Interesting thing is that when I plugged out earbuds, music stops playing - I can't hear it on internal speakers, but when I plug them back - I can hear various game tracks changing each other. Furthermore, it not shown in running process list. I've rebooted device and odd behavior seem disappear. I have to mention, I switched device off for night, so it feels like this game loaded when I plugged in earbuds.
I am very confused and concerned about it. Please advise how can I get rid of this nasty thing?

just format your phone.
sent from Nokia 3310

It's a tablet. Maybe try to discover the game file name and search over /data for anything about the app, over /cache too, and maybe on the rest of the device (/sdcard and whatever is called the internal memory for media and such in devices with huge internal memory).

Has any gotten Rhapsody To Go working on their mogul????

been searching the forum and came across cases where some owners of PPCs have gotten WMP to transfers DRM music downloaded from Rhapsody on to their PPCs.
I subscribe to RTG and tried to transfer downloaded DRM protected music to my mogul's SD but had no luck. WMP can't sync "Windows Media Player cannot sync the file because the device needs to be updated"
The WMDRM, MSMETADATA, and PLAYLIST folders were created so i know the SD was prepared for DRM music but i can seem to get it to work on the mogul.
maybe it's not compatible how did those other people get it to work??
I will tell you from my own personal experience, DRM content does work on the Mogul. I work for Napster's call center and I am able to get my music from Napster to my Mogul, very easily! Napster recognizes it, and the card, then all I have to do is transfer to the storage card and I'm done. Don't even have to use Windows Media Player.
Just FYI, you might want to check it out. 7-day trial available during registration. Make absolutely sure you get Napster To Go.
EDIT: Please remember, the phone is not officially supported by Napster. If you can't get it to work, there is nothing that anyone in the call center can do, so please do not call looking for support.

now i'm jealous. who's rom/version are you using? did you need to prep the device or SD before you could transfer the music?
anyone done this with rhapsody?
I've been using rhapsody to go for some time. Works very well with a bluetooth enabled car stereo.
In rhapsody, you should have two devices listed:
One for your phone itself
One for the memory card
You need to put at least one song on the phone itself so that it licenses the phone to accept the drm. Since I like to use songs for ringtones, dropping the selected song to the phone will usually do the trick. After that, I use the memory card for the main storage of music.
Hope this helps
Haha...napster....the original CEO of napster, shawn fanning, was my roommate in college at Northeastern. I remember him sitting in our room for hours and hours developing the original napster...i miss the original napster lol.
Napster got its name from his nappy hair, which is why he always wore a hat.

What rom are you using?
ME: WinXP SP2, WMP11, Lastest Rhapsody....DCD 3.0.1
is WMDRM supported in DCD's 3.0.1?
My computer is "Authorized" already
I plugin my mogul
I start Rhapsody. It's finds and scans the PDA and Storage Card.
There is a WMA file on the device.
The WMDRM files and folders are created on the PDA and Storage Card
In Rhapsody, I try to drag a song from my library to the Storage card and get
"You cannot transfer this subscrition content because this device is not a subscrition device"...blah blah blah...pay. I already pay $15/mo
There's no option to "Authorize" my mogul...What exactly did you do to get it to work? what rom are you using?
ROM's really have nothing to do with it. It just recognizes it as a Windows Mobile device, and the rest goes from there. You can use any ROM with any configuration.
Give it a shot, let me know your username and I'll make sure everything goes smoothly on the back-end.
Rhapsody has worked OK (complaints below) for me on the three different devices I've tried (1 Mogul, 2 Touch's).
The particular ROM you are running can make a difference, as some custom ROMs leave out Lockstream DRM.
In my experience Rhapsody's online player is great. The software that you have to run to download music on the other hand has given me nothing but headaches. In my experience it is buggy, bloated, unresponsive crap. I've spent hours troubleshooting issues (some might be related to Vista, but come on, it's been out for a long time now), uninstalling/reinstalling Lockstream components, etc. And for some reason it never recognizes my storage cards the next time I try to transfer music. I have to deauthorize the card in my account settings, and then reathorize it in order to transfer music. There are just way to many issues for it to be a useful service for most people. I'll probably give it another month, but I will likely be looking into trying Napster and some others if their selection is comparable to Rhapsody.
I use rhapsody on my Mogul/XV6800 with no issues. I just plugged it in, authorized it, and started adding music.

I FIXED IT!!!!!
looks like I have to install MS-KB929399 DRM hotfix. I can authorize now...
BUT now i have another problem!!!
after a few seconds of playing the song it stops and i get..."Not enought storage space is available to complete the operation"
I got 142MB free space in my rom and 350mb free in my SD...this would happen to any file i played in MediaPlayer..
Is it talking about RAM?

There is a useful guide including:1. How to free download DRM Music 2. How to convert the DRM music to play them with any players.

Thanks, but those methods currently no longer work in XP
MS and Rhapsody are pushing a different version of the DRM IBX in XP and the keys can't be retrieved with those methods anymore.
(are we allowed to talk about this on XDA forum)
Anyway i got Rhapsody to work with my mogul.
Rhapsody + HTC Audio Manager + 8GB SDHC + Dopod remote control + Sony Fontopias + SRS WOW HD = pretty decent portable music player
but this thing has some serious issues with RAM...64MB SUX!!!
can't multitask with the Audio Manager running..even WMP has problems with running out of RAM
There are legitimate reasons to want to strip the DRM from protected Rhapsody tracks. The lack of a universal DRM system means that iPods, etc. can't play the Rhapsody tracks that you legally have the license to use. Granted, stripping the DRM is not legal, but morally I don't have a problem with it in this case. If you were to keep using the files after canceling your subscription that would be another story of course.
All that said, I've been using a program called MuvAudio to "strip" the DRM from my Rhapsody tracks. It actually doesn't strip anything, but instead runs the file through your sound card and digitally records the output into a new (and not copy-protected) MP3. The benefit of this system is that anything you can play on your PC can be converted into an unprotected MP3/WMA/etc. All the tag data (artist, album, year, etc) is preserved, and it will even search for and attach album art. I was a little worried there would be some quality loss, but it turns out that is not an issue. The quality of the MP3 output is excellent. The program can also be set to monitor your Rhapsody download folder so that new downloads are automatically converted. The best part is that you can get the program for free with TrialPay. Basically, you sign up for a trial of some other, unrelated service, and you get a free license for MuvAudio. You can then cancel your trial of the other service without ever paying a dime. Pretty cool. And now my wife can load up her iPod with Rhapsody tracks.
Now if Rhapsody would only offer a Pocket PC client so that I could bypass my PC all together...

Analog rips aren’t really what I want, I may sound like a stickler for quality but I can notice the difference, especially with high quality headphones or rips using low quality sound cards
But this automatic monitoring and converting sounds intriguing…I’m gonna give it a try

Sony Bridge for Mac.... slow or hangs?

So after buying the Xperia S was disappointed to learn that I just cant plug it into my PC and have it appear as another drive on my computer like all my other 5-6 android phones I have owned.
I had to download Sony Bridge for Mac so that I can copy files and synch my music... the only problem is I have been trying for about 8-10 hours to synch some music .. and it always seems to hang.. part way through.and then when I try to eject the phone it seems to have lost comms with the phone... Anyone got the same problem as me?

I had this issue as well... What I had to do was figure out the song it was hanging on and then eject the phone, uncheck the song that hangs and then start again. It would then sync from the point forward. There were two songs out of 442 that I had that hung. No idea why.
unfortunately I am trying to sync playlists so I cant identify which track it is hanging on.. but even with just a small playlist with 30 songs it still hangs.
It doesnt seem to hang when transferring photos or videos, but very disappointing I cant easily transfer my music.
The sync function doesn't seem to work properly. It always hangs. And if you try to sync playlist, you will realised that only 8 songs will eb copied over for each albums/playlist. After that it just hang endlessly.
Copying the files/songs manually via the phone browser works. But the browser is kinda retarded. And copying playlist manually doesn't add the playlist to your media player!!!
I did report the issue to Sony Mobile forum but i wasn't able to post any update since the reset password isn't working.
It will help if everyone report the problem to them directly as well >> http://talk.sonymobile.com/community/support/xperia_2012_family/xperia_s
Also had this problem when used with my Arc. It doesnt even recognize the phone. It says connecting then it hangs
Will try it later with my Xperia S

Do you have Mac right? Then download and install app iSyncr for Mac and then iSyncr WiFi after you need to install iSyncr server on your mac and after that you don't need any other apps or device managers to transfer or sync your musics or videos.
Those apps will works flawlessly and will sync all your musics and videos from your iTunes. Its so easy and works almost all android devices with mac.
Have the same problem here...
OS X 10.7, Early 2011 Macbook Pro
I plugged my Xperia S in, and tried to sync my old iPhone playlist. No luck, stuck at around 60%.
At first I thought it was because some of my songs in that playlist are AIFF, so I opened another playlist for Xperia S, convert everything in the iPhone playlist to MP3 and give it another go. Still no good. Stuck at around 20%, only about a hundred songs were copied when I have about 700.
Is there any good/free option that can just simply let me mount the phone into SD card mode or whatever and drag-and-drop files into the internal memory?
The transfer is really slow.. I tried transferring 2 playlists from itunes which each contains 100+ songs. It really tooked a while.. Maybe around 30 minutes.
Anyone knows hownto sync the calendar from a mac to the XPS? Google didnt seem to sync my calendar events from my Arc..
You can try this out if your are rooted

I'm sick of the Bridge for MAC! Hope they will bring in the Mass Storage Mode in ICS update..
I hear that Sony is going to be releasing V3 of Sony Bridge for Mac (on the Sony Mobile forum) but besides new features, I really hope they'll fix it to it detects the phone properly - and quickly.
I've got lots of phones, from an old X10 to X10 mini pro, arc, neo, active, live walkman and two Xperia S's (one review model, one my own). I've also got an Xperia U for a bit.
Now all of the old phones detect very quickly, but the Xperia S's and sometimes the U struggle... often timing out. I really can't figure out what's happening, nor why on one occasion it even thought the Xperia S was its Japanese counterpart (forget the model number) and also showed up as 'Sony Ericsson' rather than Sony!
I am beginning to think there's an issue with the phone, rather than the software (even though the SW seems very buggy with all the sync problems mentioned above, yet I'd love to get into a position to be able to have sync problems!).
Has anyone else got this problem on the Xperia S? How do you fix it. Believe me, I've tried every combination of unplugging the phone, force quitting the app, rebooting the Mac, rebooting the phone, swapping USB port, resetting the powered USB hub.... but most of the time it's just reconnecting over and over and it working, after maybe 60 seconds of trying to detect!
It's infuriating, especially as there's a specific Android app for Mac to manage files, but that doesn't work with the Xperia S even though it supports MTP! I too hope ICS might fix this.
On Lion with an Xperia P.
It syncs a few items from a playlist and then just sits there. It is a shame since the application actually looks quite good and has a lot of options unlike Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac.
Mine has also stopped checking for updates as it seems to think I have no internet connection.
I should have known that Sony are incapable for writing applications, this application works about as well as SonicStage.

Media Scanner / Manager Causing CPU Battery Usage / Drainage - android.process.media

Having an issue where after boot and sometimes all of the sudden during the day, the phone gets hot and battery level drops l like ton of bricks. Using Android Task Manager App and enabling monitor of system processes and selecting realtime monitor, I've traced the problems to "android.process.media". This appears to be something to do with Android scanning the device for media files (audio/video/etc) and creating some sort of database. I also usually see the "Music Enhancer" process which has to do with Beats Audio according to HTC (but I have Beats turned off.)
I've seen old threads of people with same problem and in some cases it had to do with a "corrupted" media file and they had to remove all media files and/or factory reset their device. I just spent an entire weekend customizing this device! Plus, how the heck do you prevent yourself from copying the corrupted file over if it was a corrupted mp3 or something?
I'm pretty sure my issue stems from the fact I used my media manager (Media Monkey) to sync over 2,800 audio files to the device. My collection is of high bitrate quality, about 16GB worth of music. I'm pretty sure this is what it is choking on. What I'm not sure of is if the Media Scan the Android device is performing is just a "normal check" for changes/addition/deletions to any of the media files. This of course would take a lot of time and CPU if it has to scan 2,800 files every reboot or periodically. It seems launching Google Play sometimes starts it too as I also sometimes see Google Play Service:Music or something like that (even though I don't stream any of my audio from Google Play.)
I'm expecting this is a more widespread issue than people know. I think in many cases it could be at the root of many people's battery issues on Jelly Bean phones, especially if they have a lot of media files.
If anyone has any recommendations as to what I should do or more information about this, please let us know!
Using a brand new HTC One X+ (AT&T). JB 4.1.1.

Best way to optimize startup of headunit - start listening to Google Play Music ASAP

Hi all,
I have a Klyde head unit for my Honda Civic, This one.
- I am running Malaysk's latest ROM from 12 Feb.
-I use CarHomeUltra as my launcher by allowing it to take over the home button (only the software button though, it will not take over the physical home button).
-I have Google Play Music set up as my preferred media player in all places I could find (Carhomeultra, headunit app, the xposed modules) and I have it setup so that it starts playing music right away by using Automagic which is an app like Tasker.
-This whole setup starts once my phone's bluetooth pairs with the head unit, at that time my phone starts a wifi hot spot and the head unit connects to it and does its thing. It all works, but it takes what seems like forever to actually start playing music. This has worked great on earlier setups that I had so I don't know if I have mucked everything up with conflicting settings in the xposed modules or not.
-It is about 30 sec to actually load up android (has been that way since a very early MCU that I was on where android loaded in like 18 sec!), this part I have come to accept. But it takes up to 3 minutes for all my steps to kick in and actually start playing the music.
-I have messed with the PCV startup app, added Google Play Music, automagic, bluetooth, carhomeultra, and anything else I could think of to speed it up. Now when android loads up, I am right at the google play music screen, so that seems to be working.
Do you guys have an efficient setup or know of the best way for me to get this working as optimal as possible? I love how we have a dedicated forum now but still find it difficult to find exactly what you are looking for.
Apologies for perhaps using the wrong forum, I have to wait to create this thread in either the "general" or "Q&A" forum.
Contact the author of this program will help you do, the download will be 20-30 seconds. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3246437

Ascend Mate 2 - Andriod 5.1 - can't stream/mirror to television

Hey everyone...so I have a very difficult question and was hoping that someone here can help. I tried another forum but - not a peep.....and I am hoping since you guys here are developers you might be able to put on your propeller hat and figure this out!!!
I have the Ascend Mate 2 (which I really enjoy ) and decided to upgrade from I think it was 4.3 to Andriod 5.1 via the Huawei website. All went perfectly normal, and still is normal - except for one thing.
It won't stream or mirror to my television.
So here is a little background. It is the unlocked Ascend Mate 2, Andriod 5.1 EMUI 3.1, build MT2-L03c00B322. 2.0 GB RAM.
When it was 4.3, I streamed perfectly to the television using RK Anycast, ROKU and FireStick TV. Just set it up like normal, clicked on the display, it connected to the device I wanted to use and - off into movie-land I went (I have unlimited streaming data).
So I wanted to upgrade my phone so I could use various other apps that needed a higher version.
Did the normal upgrade via Huawei website and took just a couple minutes, no issues and all loaded all running like usual. So now here it is a few days later, and I am finally nearly done installing all my normal apps and backed-up/restored texts and calls etc. So I thought, let me stream a movie (I use the term streaming and mirroring to mean the same thing) from my phone to my TV so I can relax.
I do the normal, pull down from the top, and bring up the "multi-screen" option. And I see the RK Anycast device listed, I hit connect, it does connect, I see my cellphone mirrored on the TV like normal, I go to any app - Netflix, YouTube, Prime etc., that loads like normal....but when I hit play....it plays for about three seconds, then just totally hangs. Stops playing, the picture just stays on the TV screen without moving at all. So i have to close the program.
So I test this out with my Firestick and my Roku, does the same exact thing for them. Looks normal, connects like normal, I go to hit play it runs for about two seconds then just totally stalls and hangs.
I have no idea what the problem is...but seems almost like....maybe there is a certain setting for Andriod 5.1 that needs to be changed that I am not aware of?
Like I said I am just puzzled since I know it worked perfectly when I had Andriod 4.3 on it.
And get this - a saved video I physically on my cellphone - well that streams to the TV without hanging or lagging, it runs like normal.
Thanks for any ideas and hints....!!!
