In what country you are? If your country use:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
then everything will be okay.
Only thing you need is Sim-unlocked Atrix. If you get sim-locked Atrix then you can easily unlock by yourself with unlock code what you can buy. I bought that code from ebay a while ago. I paid ~$14.

If you're at&t customer, call at&t customer service and state your reason why you need sim-unlock (going out of country), they'll give you a code for free.

When you do this remember to record some video proof of the process in case something goes wrong, you can ask for a refund.

I think AT&T models don't support 3G 900 either - only 2G 900.

I'm actually using my atrix on T-Mobile right now after I unlocked so far it's working fine. You might however need a data plan for your mms to work. That's what I've been told at least.

I'm going to use it on StraightTalk on AT&T's network...so I should be fine.
I'm using AT&T in australia on Telstra. I unlocked and rooted but still needed to unlock from AT&T. Guy on eBay does it 4 $2!

I think there is a post for this here. But if not google it. All you need is sim card from straighttalk nokia e71. Then you need to enter new apn settings. I am noon and switched mine and my wifes to ATRIX on straighttalk. Thinking of unlocking mine a
nd new rom cause of random reboots and sod. But scared. Wifes doesn't have these probs
After AT&T waved my ETF and I had a $0 balance with them they supplied unlock codes to me for both my Atrix & Captivate, sold them both on Craigslist. Luckily I had a friend at the house with T-Mo so I just popped the sim in and was prompted for the code while I had AT&T customer service on the phone.
I have a similar question, my atrix is ATT and i want to unlock the sim and use it on t-mobile, but I want to use the pre-paid/month to month type of service, will it work the same way?
They have unlimited text/talk/data for like $50/month on the month-to-month type plan, so i wanna jump on that lol

I recently posted this in another thread, however I am desperate to buy a handset so I will post ot here too.
I am now again looking at buying the Droid DNA due to being screwed around by previous seller on eBay! I wanted to ask this: Everywhere seems to state that the Droid DNA is network unlocked. Is this true? If it is then why are people sometimes stating on eBay that only GSM will work and no DATA outside of the US! (I live in Australia and this is obviously important to me)
I am seriously getting so confused because of mixed seller listings. Some people say it is factory unlocked and some people say it is locked to Verizon. What is the deal? Also if the phone has a bad ESN or they fail to make a payment later on down the track and it does become bad, does this mean it will stop working in Australia or is it solely based around US and Verizon in general?
About the seller on eBay, I have now been refunded my money for my recent transaction. The seller did not mention that the device didn't come with it's box, instructions, charger etc. He also has no intention of mentioning it because he has relisted it without even indicating it. He is just trying to get an international buyer to deal with it is my guess. It was just a handset and a case. Very misleading, I am lucky that I confirmed with him just before he was selling it. It was one of those buy it nows that need to be paid upfront.

It is factory unlocked. You can pop a SIM in and it'll work, assuming your carrier uses one of the band's the DNA supports. Mms is apparently an issue for some though.

Bad ESN won't affect you 1 bit on GSM network in Australia.
There are always some noobs who sell products on eBay without knowing what their product can actually do. Like those who mention it being Verizon locked. Cdma and LTE is Verizon only. HSDPA is unlocked.

All Droid DNA are carrier unlocked. As long as your network is supported then you are good to go.

Thanks, but based on responses above it looks like outside Verizon, 4G and CDMA bands are network locked and won't work. Is it correct understanding? Or if my carrier just supports those frequencies it will work?
In other words is it fully factory unlocked for all bands?

You might have to pm funky and ask him. If your 4G is the same frequency as what is listed then I don't see how they could block it outside of the US
I just found out that even with a blacklisted ESN the phone will still work with any activated SIM. lTE phones uses the IMEI and VZW can't block those. there is another thread in this sub forum that talks more about this

I've had an HTC HD7 on T-Mobile for a good solid three years now, but it has become outdated and I need a new phone.
All the Windows Phones on T-Mobile are very crappy (in my opinion) and the phone I would love to have would be the Lumia 920.
My only problem is, it doesn't exist. My question is: If I were to buy a Lumia 920 locked to AT&T off of eBay, then get an unlock code, would it be possible to have it running with at least 3G speeds? All the radio frequencies point to yes, but I would like to check here first.

if you read around, all at&t lumias 820 & 920 are locked. there is a rare rare chance of getting an unlock code from AT&T. All the sites in the web are scams. It would be better to buy a Rogers Unlocked 920 because: 1. they have the same antennas as AT&T, some say the phones are pentaband and 2. they are already unlocked.
or get an international unlocked. some reports stated you can flash the firmware from other countries and get AWS.
Long story short, unless you want straight talk which is powered by AT&T, you wont have a good chance of getting an AT&T lumia sim unlocked

Bought mine at canadagsm.ca and had it in my hands 3 days later in Miami. And, so far is the best phone I've owned. It is a pentaband so it will work with T-MOBILE. Also, I have none of the problems others are mentionning on this forum (dust in front of the FFC, etc ...).

I'm on T-Mobile as well. I ended up purchasing a Lumia 920 international unlocked (Polish variant). The international variant uses the same 3G frequency as the AT&T variant (1900 MHz 3G).
T-Mobile has been refarming their network and they are now running 3G on 1900 MHz as well, in addition to the original 1700 MHz.
If you're in the Mill Creek, WA area, I can't tell you how the 1900 MHz 3G network performs since I'm not in that area. However, I live in Bellevue, go to UW and work in Shoreline and 3G coverage on the 1900 MHz network has been pretty good. At UW, I can get anywhere between 7-15 Mbit/sec.
To answer your question, yes an AT&T version will have 3G on T-Mobile's network, but only if you're in an area that has received refarming.

This is true. Do NOT give your money to any site claiming to unlock the AT&T 920. It will only be possible for those sites to do so after May 9th, and then still only buy it from reputable sites!
The ONLY way to unlock an AT&T 920 is if you're an AT&T customer and push really hard with the customer support. It might also be only customers with accounts on business discounts (tied to your work email) that are able to get it. I get premier business customer support when I call in to AT&T and I even had to argue on the phone for 60 minutes in total with all the reps I talked to before I was able to get them to submit an unlock request.
The Dev forum has a neat tutorial to unlock your phone through Htcdev.com.

To carrier unlock an AT&T phone you would need the unlock code from AT&T which they would give if you purchased the phone at full price (not sure why somebody would that when you could order the carrier unlocked version directly from HTC which would be bloat free; the only reason to do that would be the fact that you can get AT&T HTC one much faster than carrier unlocked from HTC/Letstalk)

You can unlock your Note 2 without root and without paying. You'll have to downgrade to 4.1.1 regardless because T-Mobile and other carriers put a block on 4.1.2 (I know this because I just got rid of my Note 2 and had to find all this out through a lot of searching. The unlock code I ordered was correct but wouldn't work until I downgraded.)

Don't forget that voice goes over AWS *exclusively* via UMTS/HSPA in markets that either have no 1900 licenses or very bad 1900 coverage.
It pisses me off that they are *STILL* splitting bands between carriers... It really wouldn't take that much to make a universal GSM phone... Tha being said, it *may* be possible to unlock the AWS frequency in the future - that is, if all the internals are the same between the devices. It wouldn't surprise me if it is gimped like the T-Mobile S3 got gimped in terms of LTE support.

Of course it's not hard, especially with current gen basebands, to support a full range of UMTS frequencies. Network operators get OEMs to restrict bands to make buying their subsidized phones less desirable to other operators, i.e. it makes it harder for someone to move from AT&T to T-Mobile. This is an easy business decision for the operators and OEMs don't seem to care much, since I doubt many consumers even know that they should expect their GSM phone from AT&T to work on another GSM network. I remember some people on twitter earlier aptly likening it to DRM--its only purpose is to make their customers' lives more difficult. The fact that Google has supported pentaband UMTS on the Nexus 4/7 and Galaxy Nexus is a great reason to love them, but I digress.
As for granting UMTS over AWS to the AT&T One, it seems pretty unlikely. It's already been shown to be not as simple as a radio flash, and I haven't heard of anyone successfully adding new bands to MDM9x15 devices the way they did with earlier basebands like on US GS2 variants. It's possible that there is some obscure configuration point in our firmware somewhere that will enable such support--and I'm sure there are people out there digging--but I'm not holding my breath, personally.

Oh I agree with you completely but stranger things have happened like at&t S3s having hidden AWS LTE support... all it takes to activate is a special ROM/radio/bootloader/recovery set that T-Mobile made to test their LTE network... flashes right over the I747 via Odin and unlocks AWS HSPA and LTE. And the Nexus 4 AWS LTE hack too.
Its still annoying... I think we will start to see more compatibility coming up though for roaming revenue purposes... At least between at&t and T-Mobile. I guess we will see. I am waiting to see what comes of the mysterious LG D810 that is running the Snapdragon 800 before deciding on my next device but I'm almost 100% sure I will be passing the GS4 up though.

The OP is talking about Bootloader unlock, you're talking about network unlock. It's not illegal to get network unlock if it is through your provider, I believe the whole no unlocking thing has more to do with 3rd party unlockers.
Anyways if the government told you that it's against the law to unlock your toilet so you could take a $hit, would you listen to them or would you just unlock the door and take a $hit anyways? I'll choose the latter thank you

I know the two actions are completely different. My point was that a law against unlocking your mobile device would be as stupid as not being allowed to perform a regular "bodily function". It's just a stupid law that was lobbied by the contract sucking mobile carriers. The actual phone manufacturers could care less. Another example is: if you buy a car and have it financed then being told you can't add custom wheels or exhaust system. That's a good example right?

Look, I don't particularly like the rule, but if I need my phone unlocked tmobile will provide a code. The carriers subsidize the phones, even tmo through their zero interest loans. So from their perspective it makes sense.

T-Mobile isn't subsidizing AT ALL now, you pay full retail for any device. They should *HAVE* to provide unlock codes right off the bat.
And they do -
Devices Purchased at Full Retail Price
If you paid full retail price for an eligible device:
T-Mobile will provide the SIM unlock code as long as:
Your T-Mobile account is in good standing; and
The device has been completely paid for (you must fax the proof of purchase to T-Mobile).

They are subsidizing the cost of the loan. The unlock is only available if you have paid the phone off.
They are charging zero percent interest on a consumer item.

I want to by HTC One to use with T-Mobile in USA, if I select unlocked version from HTC site:
HTC One® Unlocked (32Gb) says: The unlocked version does not support the 1700 band so HSPA+ and LTE will not work on the T-Mobile network.

Make sure you live in area with 1900mhz bands reframed or tmobile lte otherwise you will be stuck with edge speeds

They have the same exact frequencies. HTC goofed up. Its in the forums bro. Anyhow, thing is T-mobile will work on AWS LTE band 4 1700. but not 4G which is hspa. If your in the area with 1900 coverage or LTE then your in luck. If not.. go on to a t-mobile store and get yourself a phone

LA has spotty 1900Mhz coverage on TMo. It's far, far better here with 1700Mhz. That's the exact reason why I bought the TMo version instead. If I need to unlock it, I'll either pay $20 on eBay for a code, or just pay for my device and get one from TMo instead. There isn't any branding on the phone at all, and you'd miss WiFi calling with the HTC store version.

Bro, if you got always "4G" on your last phone its not going to work on dev edition simply put. no 3g for you sir! if you got "LTE" or "H" on it then dev phone will work for you. if you always got just 4G.. welcome to Edge world on your dev phone.

Im in the same boat. I get E on HTC unlocked One, when I had 4G on my Tmobile One S unlocked. So, if I return the phone and get a T-Mobile version I should get 4G like I did with my old One S??

That is crazy. I dont think that 1700 warning was there two weeks ago when I pre-ordered. Either way, where do I get a T-Mobile unlocked from now? Do I have to buy a regular T-Mobile outright then enter a unlock code? Thanks again.

It was there all along and everyone who did the research knew it won't get T-Mobile aws band. Your best bet is buying direct from T-Mobile and unlocking.

T-Mobile's branded phones always say "4G" when on HSPA+. International phones usually idle with "3G" and then change to "H" or "H+" while data is active. Neither of these things is an indication of what frequency your data is being transferred over.
That airportal site linked above seems pretty good; there are other crowdsourced options for finding the PCS refarmed areas, too. A good way to be safe if you're dead set on the developer edition is to wait for LTE to roll out in your area since that will definitely work.

You don't need an unlock code if you plan to use it on T-Mobile US (including prepaid MVNOs), only if you plan to use it on AT&T or internationally.
Dude call tmobile and you will be able to order via the phone
