Will it be rootable eventually? Custom Roms? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi guys!
My Transformer Prime is coming to me in the next weeks and i'm really looking forward to it. I love the way I can flash anything I want on to my DesireHD which is basically totally unlocked.
Do you think this will be available for the Prime too one day? (root&custom roms) I dont need to have this right when I get my device but it would be cool to have it in like half a year or something.

No not popular enouggh

yes it will.
give it time.
i've been working since day 1 with my device to find some way to root. still nothing. as soon as we can figure it out, we'll get things going, including custom roms

Agreed, i doubt any dev will waste their time on a 3.1 based rom when 4.0 is right around the corner.

Only 2 weeks or less till ics

watch, once root is achieved again, this developement ball gonna roll so fast you won't be able to keep up with all the different custom roms available. just look at how well the OG Transformer is doing in the developement scene. its only gonna get better. hop on this train and come along for this ride to the top.

I know, right. literally anyday now we will recieve the glorious update to our device. wouldn't overseas actually get it first since in an earlier time zone?

i agree with the 4.0 statement, not that i don't doubt people smarter than me are trying to 3.x i feel like a lot more people will be trying once 4.0 is out.
plus with 4.0 finally being an open source version of android for tablets, we should have an easier time with development.

Good point about the ICS update. And seeing certain devs (like the guy from virtuous who made m10 tools^^ thumbs up to you dude ) already posting in this thread and obviously checking this forum as often as I do makes me really calm about things
Now just another 1-2 weeks of taking sedatives to make me patient until it arrives.

Yea I'm watching here all day

we have to realize with the ICS update, so much can happen
the update itself can give us some kind of entrance into rooting the device.
and ICS itself is still relatively new, which can have a plethora of backdoors which allow a root.
just remember, when one backdoor closes.. another one opens

im really ready to see how cyanogen and MIUI will look like on a tablet though I'm not sure if miui will develop for tablets, they need to go oper-source they could be as Google as cyanogen

Im using ICS(CM9) alpha/beta for my Galaxy S, and its really nice.. i could only imagine the Asus version

Hope at least ICS (and with luck CM9) is released for when I buy my tablet by February or March.

[Q] Andriod 4.0 OS "Ice Cream Sandwich"

I was just wondering, how this will affect development of current roms and new roms?
Here is some info.
http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-everything-you-need-to-know-954464
It won't, and this is not at all development related. Post stuff like this in general where it belongs.
You may get a rom that is a port from another device, but don't count on it for several weeks.
oh man, i got all excited thinking someone had done an sdk build rom.
At this point with only 1-2 active ROM devs for the Photon I'm not holding my breath on anything but what Moto pumps out. I wish they would leave more of the gingerbread experience intact like the themed Alien ROM

Until Motorola pulls its head out of its ass and stops releasing phones in the shadow of bigger deal phones... and stops locking its bootloaders... you will never get a finished port of anything to a motorola phone... Photon was DOA in the developer arena since Evo3D came out just before. Locking up all the new 2 year contracts. Even the CM7 port has gone nowhere fast and will never leave alpha state. ICS won't even come close to photon by the time CM ports it.
The new RAZR will also be DOA with the nexus shadowing it. Moto has the same marketing skill as HP with touchpad... that is... none.
will ICS comes on PHOTON officially or no officially ?????
you will know it's official when they announce it for the phone officially.

They won't be getting rid of physical button entirely, especially on lower end devices where a smaller screen makes up the cost for adding buttons. Also - some users don't like on screen buttons.
Just because it has on screen controls doesn't mean they will be used for every device from here on out. I can assure you that more than "future" phones will have this OS - several phones currently out will get the update. And if you think other wise we have big issues.

LOL I may think otherwise...
It is still unclear. There needs to be a way to hide the onscreen honeycomb buttons for phones that already have buttons. What about the search button... that isn't shown as one of the new buttons. And the menu button replaced with the recent apps button.
ICS seems to be a larger update than Gingerbread was to Froyo and Froyo to Eclair. I suppose CM could hack it up to work on older phones.. but will manufacturers do that? Or did google add backwards compatibility with button-based phones?

there is no need to. the sdk is for building apps. anyone trying to base a rom off of its files is really wasting their time. it will be missing so many things that it booting would be a godsend. you are talking of a massive jump in kernel versions, froyo is on 2.6.32 gb is 2.6.35 ICS is 3.0.0
Wow what a douche move posting this here. I thought we had an sdk as well. *shakes old man fist*

Asus Transformer Prime receiving Android ICS 4.0 on January 12, 2012

Amazing news for us.
Owners of the Transformer Prime will be the first ones to get Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.
Asus is also releasing, version 8.8.3.33, this will improve the focus of the camera, the fluidity of the touch experience, and the APK capabilities in Android Market.

Not to be a glass half empty kinda guy but I am going to keep my finger cross. Asus hasn't been doing that well their timetable lately.

At last, I 777 feels like the Captivate

I always felt Captivate was in the forefront of development (when I had it, back in the days). Even now, it already have ICS (I need to dig out the old captivate, glad I didn't sell it). But in last months, so many I9100 ROMs are porting, it feels like the old days with the Captivate.

And this is the reason why I dont mind the hellraised roms getting their own threads (or at least their own section). This thread is case and point. (this is in reference to the other thread where it was in discussion about what to do with those roms, since they technically aren't new development). Hellraising i9100 rom's is nothing new but many people either (1) didnt know about it because they dont read or (2) they didnt want to try it because they were too nervous to attempt it.

We gaining new devs and porters. It's good only took a few months. I took the past week reading up on a ton of things. Figured out how to edit stuff for multi-dpi and how to build a rom. It's been interesting. I'm happy I finally took the time to learn some more about it.

Fully is not the right word. How about mostly. Audiohacked kernel will allow for in call audio but it can be unreliable(See Entropy's op, do not expect call audio to be without issue). From most accounts its a nice Rom to "toy"(from OP, too) with but revert back to whatever stable GB rom you're used to after done playing

I had the opportunity to try a barely functioning Sense 5 build. It was very fluid, but because hardly anything worked, I obviously didn't use it long. I have SVN set up already, and will be trying this ROM once it's "publicly" available. I'm a very patient person. I suppose that's a good thing right now. Lol

Well if you have the svn set up you should check out latest. It is very very fluid, and the only things not working so far are
Gallery
3g
4g
ZOE (acts like its working, but will never complete the zoe)
Gallery <- again.
but everything else is working quite well at the moment wifi has solved most of my connection issues and i dont really need 3g while im on the go as its wayyyyy too slow in my area anyways, sure it will be nice to have, but its not a necessity, and everything else but those things are working.
ive made a number of calls, sent a few texts and am using email to send sms out to people at the moment.

The ROM I tried was a private build provided to me, just for fun. Other than the UI, nothing worked. No camera, Wi-Fi, data, talk. In no way was it meant for any kind of public release. I also promised the person whom allowed me to use it, that I wouldn't share with anyone. I stand by my word. Sorry.

These devs have done some amazing work and need applauded for there effort on this! Within a few days they have a complete build with the only real issues are data, gallery fc, and Bluetooth, that's nothing short of amazing! I personally tried a port when the system dump became available and the things I was beating my head against the wall trying to figure out they fix in minutes! Needless to say once I saw this line up of devs working on a port I quit all attempts and am glad they can make it happen! +1 to this.
Also for anyone trying this rom out in the future, it comes with blinkfeed as page one, and homescreen as page 2. Add a third page to boost smoothness of the entire rom. just noticed that.

What kind of interest is there for "Goodness" rom?

Been in this section for a few months now, there is some great devs here along with great roms. But is there ever really enough rom choices out there?? No there's not!
So I'm curious to see what kind of intrest there would be for a rom like this on the Verizon note 2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42316916

Let's do this.

What's your point of this post? Everyone here knows all about existing roms, especially beans.

That was kinda my point with it... Not really seeing much other than what is already out there...
What it give you? What's it gonna get with it?
A simple "not interested" would've sufficed. And its only looking like that because of a theme, which can be done with pretty much any other touchwhiz ROM as well. And in my opinion that looks pretty nasty. I like the look of "goodness" ROM and not over the top.
And the thing about all these different roms is to make them look different otherwise they're all built off of stock.

Boy, let's keep developers from posting their work, that's what you do.
First time I saw BigToysRock's work was on the Sprint E4GT. He's a good dude that does good work. I'd like to see what he has to offer. Don't let the doubters get in your way man

I guess this isn't a collaborative thread or am I mistaken...
I am always interested in finding new roms and different looks and devs to try and get new stuff going. I was just putting out there.
I am looking for a lightweight 4.1.2 rom so I can get something going with the dual boot...
Now if people want to take offence or take shots at me, please go right ahead and I hope you feel better about yourself if you had a crappy day.
I am always interested in trying new stuff on my phone.
Just looking for some similarities and what to look for in something new that is coming maybe to our phone.
Thanks for your insight.

If I was not interested I would have not left a message in the thread. If you are mistaken, Sir, about my intent you might want to seek understanding rather than rush to judgement and and insult.
I thank you for your opinion and will do with it accordingly.
No lets get back to the business of finding out about this new option for our devices and see what "Goodness" it has to offer!

10-12 Note 2 ROMs are not enough? There are web sites that list them all.
Ridin' a Note 2 blast
I would try the rom. Looks interesting. Only thing in the change log that I didn't see mentioned, is if you can change the carrier text to whatever you wanted. Also if group messaging will work for Verizon without being individual messages. PITA when you cant respond in the same group conversation. I don't think there are enough quality roms for our Verizon N2. There is numerous roms for sprint and att.
Agree with you and your very thought out post. Plus hmmmm 72 internets?

I'd love to have noteworthy on or phone. It actually caught my eye when I was browsing through the other forums and tried flashing it with Scotts patch but it didn't work for me.
