Are you asking us to make a decision for you or what's up?
I don't get it.

i'v seen the AMAZE and i kinda like it's design but i dont know jack about it
i'v heard it has "the best camera",and Camera is my "soft spot".
what im asking is this :
should i change my SGS2\9100 to the HTC AMAZE? what Cons & Pros
they had? :|
hope that was answering your Q

Camera is awesome, you will need to put a piece of electrical tape between the sensor and light (there is a whole thread on it). This is because of a design flaw which lets light in underneath the cover between the sensor and led flash which leads to a washed out/lighter right side of the photo if you are taking a photo in darker conditions. After its taped its fine, it was the first thing I did after noticing it.
The camera has a ton of options, Im not too sure what the SGSII has but I've also read a bunch of reviews on camera comparisons between these 2 phones and the iPhone 4s and iPhone and Amaze were given the best ratings although the iPhone has less options.
Backlight bleeding on the amaze from the bottom where the buttons are. You can download Screen Filter and turn off the light for these buttons which solves the problem although your buttons wont light up, doesnt bother me though. Theres also a thread on this with pictures.
The battery is a little lacking on the amaze (the screen consumes the most). So if you dont turn it on a lot it will last for a decent time. Flashing custom rom (Quiksense 3.0) also helps.
The build quality seems to be much better than the SGSII. I like the dedicated buttons (not sure if SGSII has a camera button).
If camera is very important to you I would go for the amaze, although the GSII is still decent.
Bigger batteries can be ordered for around $20-30. This plus custom rom should be good enough for most. I get about a day avg. If I use my phone a lot for watching videos on the internet then I may end up having to charge before the day is over. I just flashed quiksense 3.0 yesterday so I will have to see how much it helps out.

Can't see 3d?

Sad isn't it?

This is a thread for those of us who cannot see 3d because our eyes suck. or well in my case, 1 eye sucks.
It's overrated, I think...I just want it for the other specs...

I can't really see 3D that well either. Have a lazy eye and such so its pretty messed up. The phone is still a beast and will impress people so I am pumped!
Maybe this is why myriam joire from engadget said 3d was a gimmick. It looks pretty sweet to me!

I was expecting 3d "to pop off the screen" like when you almost wanna duck away... My girlfriend can see 3d fine, and she said most of it doesn't pop off the screen, i showed her the jaws 3d video on youtube and she said some of that did pop off out of the screen.
So, would not seeing 3d count as a disability? Maybe you could sue HTC like the deaf people are doing to Netfix (not bashing, I have no dog in that fight).
j/k -- I have 2 family members who can't see 3d due to lens issues.
This information makes me glad I have 20-13 in one eye and 20-15 in the other.
Will,
I know exactly what you mean.
The '**** popping out at you" effect is rarely used now. If you have been to any recent 3D movies they are all the same way. Its almost like 3D is used to give off the "real world" effect now...
I remember going to Disney and seeing some real deal 3D ****.... i was ducking and moving all over the place... hahhahahaha not sure I'd want that on my phone tho

Look at me....Look at me.....I have X-Ray vision....
Guys,
Viewing the 3D can be practiced, however the technique is about doing LESS not MORE with your eyes...
1. Hold the phone about half-arm's length away
2. Tilt it down, slightly (to make parallel with face)
3. Now, looking directly at the pic, stare *through* it (activate peripheral vision)
4. The image should now start coalescing; focus on it NOW, and you're there
Trick is to STOP trying to see one image, your eyes need to focus separately.
BONUS: people who've abandoned rationality & "self control" will have the hardest time doing this... (makes me love 3VO all the more)
cheers,
Souldnt have probate seeing my bro has a lazy eye n sees new 3d.tech fine the blue n red stuff doesn't work on him 3ds does I beleave. He can see 3d movies in theaters and tvs for sure tho

Since getting my EVO LTE I don't take another camera on trips any more

Few weeks ago I went on a trip to the Steens Mountains and Alvord desert in Oregon and I am blown away at the quality that came out of the EVO's camera.
The only problem I had there was a major wildfire going on so I missed out on the usually pure clear skies.
Don't know why the forum shrinks the images, but do yourselves a favor and open the images in their own windows full size.

Me too. Evo LTE camera is so much better than standard digital cameras

It's a good temp camera but I still couldn't use it as a stand alone. Outside and plenty of light all cameras will do well. Once it gets a little dark that's where it separates pretty fast.

The camera is the reason I upgraded from the OGEvo to the LTE. I am outdoors a lot and like to take pictures. Low light pictures are pretty good, too. So it's been a great upgrade for sure. But I do still take the good camera on trips or when I know I want great pictures every time.
I don't have the money to get the camera on my wish list, but I don't need it. We came home from Jamaica with about 2000 pics that were crazy awesome! I think I might like the OG a little better. I took that bad boy to tons of places and came out with masterpieces. It's so nice just needing nothing but your phone.

[Q] Return for GS3?

What's going on guys?
I need some opinions here...
I do love my Droid DNA. The screen is crisp, I like the camera and I love the form factor.
I honestly don't know how long I can deal with the screen being this big. It kind of hinders the experience for me.
The reasons I am considering returning this (Verizon offers the 14 day window) and getting a GS3 is because I want Cyanogenmod (and prefer the 1 click root method, don't want to risk really damaging my phone messing with ADB) and for the size as shown above.
What do you guys think I should do?

A lot of it is psychological imo. You know its 5 inches, so it feels huge. My Gnex is 4.65 inches and isn't that much smaller. I believe the GS3 is around the same size, if not a bit larger.
Don't mind the mess, I was helping my daughter with her homework.
It looks huge here:

But when you look at it a little differently, not so much.
This one has my gnex on top.
DNA 5 inches GSIII 4.8 inches. Not worth it. .2 inches bigger with great cam quad core and 1080p. Stick with DNA. After getting to used to it doesn't feel that big.
Yea dude if you were to go to the gsiii you would be kicking yourself in the rear ...

Not much size difference at all...
You should move on. Sure, you'll cry later....
I would like to throw this out there. I messed with my step-daughters GS3 2 days before getting the DNA and I absolutely hated the hardware home button. After using a touch button for years I had to stop and readjust my hand every time I had to push the stupid home button.
Just my 2cents
I agree with everyone that's posted so far. The S3 is barely smaller, and the hardware button is extremely irritating (my girlfriend's mom got one and that stupid button, along with the lack of Sense, was driving me crazy). The screen is also annoying, with the AMOLED part of it messing with the colors and the Pentile part of it creating that criss-cross pattern whenever you look at a white background. Plus the build quality on the DNA is infinitely better.. I've never been a fan of Samsung build quality.
In short, keep the DNA!
Thank you guys for all of these helpful posts and for the pictures! It helps. I am trying to sit tight and wait for a potential Cyanogenmod release. Then I can probably deal with the size.

do you think they will have an AOSP ROM out anytime soon? Or s off? I'm in the same boat as the OP, only not because of the size but because I don't like using ADB. I'm coming from the Droid Razr Maxx and everything was so simple before but this device doesn't suck stock.

Two HTC Ones.......one has a terrible camera and boom sound?

Hi everyone
I have 2 HTC ones right now
I've heard about how great the low light performance and the audio quality is supposed to be on this phone and with my first one I wasn't impressed so I figured it was just over hyped
got a second one in the mail and this one is VASTLY superior in both regards
The first one has a ton of grain in low light shots
and fairly low volume speakers
the 2nd is significantly better for camera and much louder speakers
do you think this is something HTC would view as a defect even though both work technically?
is there anything at all I can do to remedy either?
I can't really demonstrate the sound but here's a picture taken with each camera
I set it to iso 1600 for both
no other adjustments
it seems like it's letting in way too much light but I lowering the exposure doesn't help

I would easily be able to say I'm just going to sell the one that doesn't work as well.............but here's the kicker. It seems to get better battery life and it runs smoother with no hiccups despite it always benching slightly less
I don't know if it matters but both are stock running 4.3. One from Rogers(bad camera/sound) One from Telus(good camera/sound but slightly worse performance)
Yea I totally agree..HTC needs to improve their quality control...HTC promised the problem was software related yet when I updated my dads HTC one, to 4.3, it still has the problem..definitely a bad sensor..and since its impossible to open the phone, its also impossible to swap out the camera module..I'm gonna try to talk with HTC again or will be forced to sell..

I bought an HTC One for my wife and I (64gb variants, both second hand from different sources), and both cameras on them are very, VERY blurry. On my wife's phone, you can slap the back of the phone, and the camera will suddenly focus for a few minutes, then go back to being totally blurry. On my phone, its ALWAYS blurry, no matter what. This has been a point of contention for many folks on the web (Google it!), and no matter how much you clean the lens, use touch-to-focus, or different apps, it all comes out to the same thing.
Further, I get the blue "graininess" exhibited by the previous poster in my low-light conditions. HTC needs to step up to the plate, and fix this problem on their "flagship" phone!
And for Bob: The first digits in my device's serial number are: HT349w9
dang. i saw a guy with a serial number ht34 and his camera was perfect. was hoping it was a batch thing, but i guess not.

Am I the only person feel the back of the Nexus 6P is ugly

It looks like a Squid or a racoon, have to buy a case to hide it......
I like it. But then again looks are subjective.
I personally find it a nicer looking phone than the nexus 6 from Moto.

It has a distinct look, and I'm not so sure there are any other phones with that black bar for antennas.

Originally yes. However the better pictures of it look much better and I like the Graphite look quite a bit now.

Yeal ,I think too ,but the Nexus 5x is more ugly than 6p
Do you think 2G RAM is batter than 3G RAM?
The initial renders had me a little worried, but after seeing it via the "hands on" videos... I don't think it looks bad at all.

^^^^^That comparison makes no sense.
I am fine with the look of the phone, I'm more concerned about the screen than the back of the phone, I mean how often do you stare at the back of your phone?
Honestly, if the back actually looked like a raccoon, I'd like it even more. Call it the Nexus Raccoon and take my money Google.

Props to your point. My favorite fighter/attack aircraft.
Back to the topic, I think the all metal finish makes up for the camera hump. When the 6P leaked I wasnt impressed. Now I think it's quite attractive.

I hated the look at first when I saw the leaks, but after seeing real photos, especially the graphite black, it looks much nicer. I think if it was plastic it would look a lot worse.
Overall design is ugly. Bezels huge, back dull.

You are definitely not the only one, but I think it looks just fine. It's a great looking phone, I don't really care about what they did on the back, it's not hideous or anything. Of course this is a completely opinion based argument. There's no facts being discussed here.
At least it doesn't look like an iPhone! It's nice to have a phone with a little character.
Buy a case thats what I am doing, I'm not liking the black bar myself. But a case will fix that
