{Q} How do I restore my wifi only tab? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My tab is rooted, I have cwm 4.0.0.4 on the tab. I have been happily using TASK650 10 ROM. Today when I turned it on I had a garbled screen. Tried rebooting, get the same thing.
I rebooted into recovery and attempted to restore my latest nandroid back up. I got an error say the there was en error restoring \data.
I tried a couple other backups still had and got the same result. I now get no further then the boot animation. I was going to try factory reset/wipe etc and reinstall the ROM. After doing this realized I had deleted the zip.
So now I can't get my TAB to boot past the boot animation.
I have tried searching for a solution but I haven't had a lot of luck. If you can help or point me to a link or something, I will greatly appreciate it.
thanks

did you try wiping everything before restoring nand?

Yes, I tried that.

why can't you factory reset? Should boot fine to task10. Worst case, start over using odin.

Out of curiosity... Do u have a different version of CWM than the one u made the back up with? This happened to me last week. I had a different CWM version than when i made the back up so i got error when tryin to restore. I had to use odin

a few days earlier using CWM v4.0.0.9
It worked alright for a few days.
Today morning I woke up, my phone was stuck on a boot loop.
Should I just flash a stock ROM through odin??
Resolved: you need to flash on clean stock 2.3.x
i have the same problem a few weeks ago, when i use The End v3 ROM , then i flash my phone with another custom ROM through CWM,, that's it
ps: now i use Ace Of Spades ROM by Trent Turvey

It should work then.

I have been through bootloops at least 5-6 times. This has never worked for me. Always had to factory reset to make it work.
To maker of this thread:
Try having Nandroid backup once in a while. And don't worry, this seems to be your first time as you're freaking out too much. Bootloops aren't hard brick. Resetting to factory defaults or restoring Nandroid backups or flashing totally another custom ROM should work.

And yes I also followed SuperAce609 method for freeing memory and damn it works

Think my daughter just bricked her Optimus V

Need some help, this is my daughter's phone and she was having problems on CM7 so I restored a nandroid for her back to the stock rom. She tried to do a factory reset (didnt know she wasnt supposed to, I totally forgot) and now nothing works. Ive tried restoring it again, flashing a different rom, but get the same result after reboot every time - back to recovery. Is there anything I can do to get this thing out of recovery and actually reboot to a rom?

- NEVER use Android Settings 'Factory Reset' from now on, only do factory reset & wipes from within recovery mode. Most ROMs should have this option removed from the Android settings.

Firstly thanks...i didn't know that we are not supposed to factory reset after a nand restore
Secondly, try flashing the original firmware using LGMDP
Tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324105
If the link of v20c doesn't work, then try v10e i got my phone's life back when it almost got bricked once using this method.

Cant even get windows to recognize the phone while its in recovery, even after installing the optimus v drivers
EDIT: Got it fixed, I found a different recovery, flashed it, and all is good now. The problem must have been CWM.
good info to know
That sucks!

Hi I have the exact same pb, I flashed several times my S4 (I was on RLS4 before) following the instructions, no way to get out from the endless reboot loop.
There is a suggestion using ODIN, I am not very familiar on how to do that, any help?
Thanks

dont install any audio mod and also dont install any of the music players just the samsung one !
before you go through all the trouble of ODIN, which seems to be everyones answer now a days, it is a kernel issue, flash a verizon loki kernel. It should boot.

First, if you have a back up, restore just the system partition (this will also format your current /system) Then do a factory reset and reboot. Now I if that doesn't work, Odin is your best bet.

FOR anyone installing Hyperdrive, the most probable cause of boot loop in the Walkman Music App. Don't choose it in Aroma!!!
If you already have, the only way to fix the boot loop is to ODIN back to stock, as Dark Menace suggested.
He can PM you the stock image, which you will have to flash in ODIN to successfully boot up again.
hey I do plenty of flashing, and from time to time get into trouble... But ODIN is not the first choice to fix... Please read the forums:cyclops:
Sent a few PM's to see if that helps. You can try the kernels first then go from there.

I had the same problem had to go back in odin mode and reflash a old stock. If that does not work reset data and cache and install a new rom. Worked for me

"Yellow brick"?

So, it seems like I'm having my noob moment with the phone today, after rooting and installing the custom recovery (OUDHS), I tried to factory reset the phone (via the Settings option, not via recovery), and now it stays stuck at the Yellow Sprint screen, not booting past it.
I have already tried resetting to stock using the ODIN Tar that Garwynn posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469902, issue still persists.
Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks!
FIXED! After restoring using the TAR, booted to the stock recovery and formatted data, the phone booted up after that.

Soft bricked phone even after factory image flash

Hi all, I am in urgent need of some help...
I got my GS4 when it first came out back in May. It was the VRUAMDK build. I used ODIN and motochopper to get it rooted, eventually got CM going and have been using it ever since.
Today I was playing around flashing different nightlies of CM11. I went to restore from a backup, but it error'd out and said it couldn't restore /data. I rebooted anyway and it hung on the CM logo for about 10 minutes. I tried a wipe/restore again and the same thing happened. I should note that since updating to CWM 6.x.x.x from (I think?) 2.x.x.x I hadn't attempted a restore from backup, but I know that restore worked on CWM 2.
So anyway I went to this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
Followed the instructions, similar to when I first rooted my phone, and flashed the 99% factory image with Odin. It "worked" ie no errors but upon reboot my phone hangs on the Verizon logo. It gets through the Samsung boot logo but will just sit at the Verizon logo. Not frozen because the logo is shimmering.
At this point I have no idea what to do. Help?

Yeah, I'm not too worried about having to go through all that.. I should be able to restore apps from my external SD, I would think...
Did you have the same problem? Completely soft bricked and needed a full wipe? I'm a bit worried that the 99% wipe didn't work.

How did you re-root/recovery after the odin to MDK?
I have the MDK bootloader, but I've never had to odin back to stock.

The same way as when I first got my phone. I Odin'd the pre-release MD2 kernel, used motochopper to grant root access and install SuperSU, Odin'd back to MDK, then downloaded GooManager to install TWRP.
*Odin back MDK kernel... Not full factory image. Just clarifying
