3/4/15 NEW HOWTO ROOT & install TWRP on DL701Q/DigiLand 7" Tablet 4.4.2 KitKat
Ok, So you got your new Super Cheapo MTK8127 quad core Tablet from BestBuy or some other overpriced electronics emporium and want to install root and a custom recovery So it won't suck nearly as bad
Feeling hungry but don't wanna feed yourself??? Open wide......Here comes the airplane requesting permission to land
The Following procedure may "BRICK" your tablet and wipe your porn....You do so at your own risk, Neither Kneee or his lawyer claim to know ANYTHING about android....or anything else for that matter
THIS GUIDE WILL WIPE YOUR PORN!!!
If you've ever seen THIS:http://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/root-dl701q-install-twrp-touch-recovery-t2980339thread, You know that "iRoot/vRoot no longer works since updating to kitkat. I've BUNGLED my way into a solution, Hope it helps you too.....
THIS GUIDE ASSUMES YOU KNOW HOW TO USE ADB AND FASTBOOT (ENABLE USB DEBUGGING)OR AT LEAST KNOW WHAT THEY ARE AND DON'T SUFFER FROM GOOGLEPHOBIA
#1 Making a backup of this crap software when ADB , FASTBOOT and SP flash tool are working correctly is pointless (IMHO) (inm
Here's Everything you should need:
Stock ROM COURTESY...THIS DUMBASS https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9DmzLnUt5tuaUtJS1FHcjNyX1U/view?usp=sharing
ADB_&_FASTBOOT_executables, no need to install, just extract the .zip to the directory of your choice and execute openCMD.bat with a right click + run as administrator. it will open a terminal window, you can run all your ADVB & FASTBOOT commands from there:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9DmzLnUt5tuM29vOTNHNEZya2s/view?usp=sharing
Driver installer & MTK_SP_FLASH_TOOL for MT8127 use this to install the drivers and flash the stock rom + custom recovery.img https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9DmzLnUt5tudVlrSEtzSE1tWHc/view?usp=sharing

STEP 1: INSTALL THE DRIVERS INSIDE THE MT8127 SP_FLASH_TOOL.zip" file you downloaded It will install the mtk usb vCOM driver we need for the mtk8127. if u have questions PM vampirefo. after that, turn your tablet upside down, FIND THE reset hole and jam the nearest tiny object in there until the screen does something different (like go black) release the reset button, hold VOLUME DOWN and plug in the USB cord and the tablet should be reconized as a preloader USB VCOM Port device under "Ports" in Device Manager

So, the necessary driver to save this POS is at hand. after it's done installing the tablet will probably reboot and the remaining drivers will install. (EVEN WITHOUT THE OTHER DRIVER YOU CAN ROOT AND FLASH NOW)
Fire up the MT8127 SP flash tool (run as administrator) you downloaded and you should see this:
Click "Scatter-Loading" and select the scatter file located in the stock rom folder you downloaded and unzipped (you DID unzip it right?) and click the "RECOVERY" FIELD LOCATED HERE:
and select the recovery image you downloaded called "UBIFSRecovery4SuperSu.img......yay, you should be all set up and ready to go!
Make sure youve already unplugged the USB cable AND hit the reset button. HIT THE DOWNLOAD BUTTON (the program is now waiting for your device...no rush) HOLD VOLUME DOWN AND PLUG IN THE USB CABLE, the computer will detect the device, the program will proceed to shove a bunch of ones and zeros down the the tablets throat and it will reboot (hopefully to a mediatek logo).
If so, youre not as stupid as everyone says when u leave the room
Toss "UPDATE-SuperSU-2.46.zip" on a microSD, Power off the device, shove the SD in his home and hold POWER + VOLUME UP until you get prompted to select either RECOVERY OR FASTBOOT, we want recovery so make sure it's selected and press VOLUME DOWN to boot into recovery & install your SuperSU.zip and reboot
once the OS is fully running, run TWRP.exe as ADMINISTRATOR in AUTO mode, TWRP recovery should be installed and u should still have root, if not, you'll need to go into advanced, then mount system before re-installing from zip.
NOW learn ADB and fastboot so I can save my breath next time:
PS, all your GAPPS are gone....quit *****ing, I've got em here: htpa_gapps-modular-micro-4.4.2-20140608-signed.zip(pa_gapps-modular-micro-4.4.2-20140608-signed.zip 85.3MB) & HERE: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9DmzLnUt5tuSl9lME9VZnFJTU0/view?usp=sharing(pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140608-signed.zip 267MB))
I have requested this thread be removed, you are using my stuff without permission, and even crediting yourself with the firmware, I took the time to download, you yourself have done nothing but take others work including mine without permission.

DISCLAIMER
Modifying or replacing your device's software may void your device's warranty, lead to data loss, hair loss, financial loss, privacy loss, security breaches, or other damage, and therefore must be done entirely at your own risk. No one affiliated with the CyanogenMod project is responsible for your actions. Good luck.
NOTE
- If you are not using a Verizon Wireless branded device on Verizon Wireless, you must follow the steps below to reboot into bootloader and then enter fastboot oem config carrier vzw to ensure proper data operation.
- Unlocking the bootloader on a Nexus device will automatically wipe all device data.
- Some ROMs overwrite recovery at boot time so if you do not plan to immediately boot into recovery to install CyanogenMod, please be aware that this may overwrite your custom recovery with the stock one.
INSTALLATION
UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER
- Make sure your computer has working fastboot and adb.
- Enable USB debugging on the device.
- Connect the device to the computer through USB.
- From a terminal on a computer, type the following to boot the device into fastboot mode:
$ adb reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
- Once the device is in fastboot mode, verify your PC sees the device by typing fastboot devices
- If you don't see your device serial number, and instead see "<waiting for device>", fastboot is not configured properly on your machine. See fastboot documentation on cyanogenmod website - If you see "no permissions fastboot", try running fastboot as root.
- From the same terminal, type the following command to unlock the bootloader:
$ fastboot oem unlock
Click to collapse
- A disclaimer will display on the device that must be accepted. Use the volume keys to cycle through the options. Pressing the power button should confirm your selection.
- If the device doesn't automatically reboot, reboot it from the menu. It should now be unlocked. You can confirm this is the case if you see an unlocked icon at the bottom of the Google boot screen during reboots.
- Since the device resets completely, you will need to re-enable USB debugging on the device to continue.
INSTALLING RECOVERY
- Make sure your computer has working fastboot and adb.
Download recovery -- you can directly download a recovery image using the link below, or visit clockworkmod.com/rommanager to check for the latest version of ClockworkMod recovery for your device (if your device can be found there).
Recovery: openrecovery-twrp-2.8.4.0-shamu.img
md5: fc904a1d1d49d1797ad62bb1cb4e6775
Click to collapse
- Connect the Nexus 6 to the computer via USB.
- Make sure the fastboot binary is in your PATH or that you place the recovery image in the same directory as fastboot.
- Open a terminal on your PC and reboot the device into fastboot mode by typing
adb reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
or by using the hardware key combination for your device while it is powered off.
- Once the device is in fastboot mode, verify your PC sees the device by typing
fastboot devices
Click to collapse
If you don't see your device serial number, and instead see "<waiting for device>", fastboot is not configured properly on your machine. See documentation on cyanogenmod website
If you see "no permissions fastboot", make sure your UDEV rules are setup correctly.
- Flash recovery onto your device by entering the following command:
fastboot flash recovery your_recovery_image.img
Click to collapse
where the latter part is the filename of the recovery image.
- Once the flash completes successfully, reboot the device into recovery to verify the installation. Boot to recovery instructions: Hold down the Volume Down button while booting, and use the menu to select Recovery.
INSTALLING CM12
- Make sure your computer has working adb.
- Copy zip to the root of /sdcard:
- If you are not already in recovery, boot to recovery mode now.
- Hold down the Volume Down button while booting, and use the menu to select Recovery.
In Team Win Recovery Project, select menu choices by tapping on the appropriately labelled button.
Optional (Recommended): Select the Backup button.
Select Wipe and then Factory Reset. If you're getting an error formatting /data, try format /data and /data/media from the Mounts and Storage Menu.
Select Install.
Click to collapse
- Navigate to /sdcard and select the CyanogenMod .zip package.
Follow the on-screen notices to install the package.
Optional: Install any additional packages you wish using the same method (if you are installing multiple packages, install CyanogenMod the first and then install any subsequent packages on top of it).
Click to collapse
- Once installation has finished, return to the main menu and select Reboot, then System. The device will now boot into CyanogenMod. Note that the first boot after installation may take 5 - 10 minutes

[GUIDE] Bootloader unlock and root without TWRP - ZE554KL, Z01KD*

Hello,
As I had a somehow hard time to find a comprehensive guide on how to unlock the bootloader and root the Zenfone 4, here is a quick guide on how to do so. The method below was successfully used on a Z01KDA.
As usual: this guide will be used at your own risk. I won't accept any responsibility in any way if it results in a damage of any sort on your device.
Click to collapse
PREREQUISITES
Zenfone 4 (that... should be obvious, but who am I to judge)
A computer with:
Windows (at least Windows 7, I guess)
Fastboot ready to use (I recommend using the file from this link as it is the most straightforward, but if you prefer the SDK tools, well, you do you) and being able to use it (though on a basic level)
A USB-C cable capable of transferring data
Time to read all the annoying stuff below, and patience.
1. Bootloader unlock (from this thread // thanks to OP @shakalaca)
Whichever method you use to unlock your bootloader, all your personal data and settings will be erased and your phone will be restored to factory default. So, backup everything before going forward.
As this method was used on a rather old version of the Zenfone 4 firmware, I suggest that you use the official downgrade method from Android P to Android O. To do so :
Download the file here on your computer (the main page is located here, under Drivers & Tools), and put it at the root of the phone, do not change the name of the file
After unplugging your phone, it will prompt a software update, proceed with it
If it doesn't work for any reason, use this method instead:
Put the file on a SD card (...inside the phone)
Reboot the phone to recovery (via ADB, or Power button + Volume down)
Install the update from recovery
Wait for the phone to reboot.
After the downgrade, you can proceed to the bootloader unlock:
Download the method of @shakalaca located here
Unzip all the files to the same folder
Get into fastboot on the phone (reboot with Power button + Volume up)
Make sure that your phone is detected with
Code:
fastboot devices
Run the file "ze554kl_unlock.bat" as administrator
Let it do its magic
Your phone will reboot, congrats, the bootloader is unlocked.

2. Install the latest firmware available on your Zenfone 4
Follow the same steps as in the previous guide (1.), but with this file (the main page is located here, under BIOS & FIRMWARE ==> you have to click on EXPAND ALL to see all files)
3. Root
On your phone:
Download the Magisk Manager apk from this link on your phone
Install it
On your computer:
Download the file from step 2. above
Extract it to any location
Locate the file boot.img and put it your phone.
On your phone:
Open Magisk
Click on Install
On the next screen, select
Preserve AVB 2.0/dm-verity
Preserve force encryption
Click NEXT
Under Method, click Select and Patch a File
Select the boot.img file
Let Magisk patch the file
Locate and put the modified boot.img file on your computer (in the same folder as the one with fastboot if you did not install it system wide)
Get into fastboot mode (reboot with Power button + Volume up)
On your computer
Open a cmd window
cd to the folder where the modified boot.img is located
Check if your phone is detected with the following command:
Code:
fastboot devices
Input the following command and press Enter:
Code:
fastboot flash boot name_of_the_modified_boot.img
Reboot your phone with the following command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Your phone will reboot, congrats, it is rooted.
Feel free to ask any question if this guide is not clear, but it should be easy to follow!
I'm not getting past step 1 because my computer doesn't recognize the cell phone when it's in csc mode, it doesn't appear even when I do the fastboot devices command, could you help me?

You must install TWRP in normal way before this tutorial is for restore twrp for user that used to installed TWRP before.
You can try to boot to twrp by restart device when you saw yellow text then press power+vol+
If not success, get device into download mode and install stock first.
the normal way is to install in the AP section from odin right?

You must have USB otg mouse. Cause twrp have no touch function. If not you can't finish install twrp.
i reflashed stock (the teblet is working fine)
then i flashed only the recovery for t220 tar in odin (using AP button ) the flash went well (green )
but after the reboot the tablet bootloop (it says " this tablet bootloader as been unloked ecc." press power key to continue") cant access to twrp (pressed the vol+ and power)
The best way , you should use my tutorial "DSU side loader to try GSI" if you not ready to install twrp.

Wait please
my first time to flash twrp . (Don't use home_csc)
Howto install TWRP For SM-T225
# Patch Samsung AP Firmware via Magisk v24.0
1. Install Magisk.apk on your device SM-T225 with select no update checking, and transferred AP_xxx.tar.md5 from computer to your tab.
2. Patch Samsung AP Firmware via Magisk Manager.
( Once done, the newly created magisk_patched.tar file will be present under the
Downloads folder on your device.)
3. you may now transfer this patched TAR file to the folder on your PC where other extracted firmware files (AP, BL, CP, CSC, and HOME_CSC) are present.
4. FLASH it with ODin as usual by used magisk_patched.tar file at AP slot .
5. REBOOT SYSTEM Quick SETUP < NO NEED INTERNET>
6. Power Off and press Volum up +Volumn down + USB for boot into Download mode
7. FLASH TWRP.tar from https://github.com/DevZillion/android_device_samsung_gta7lite/releases at "AP slot"
But this time set Odin option NO Auto- REBOOT, yes do it yourself with key press ( power + volumn up). If you can't do this , let it reboot to system and uses cmd " adb reboot recovery".
When access to twrp
Go to Advanced > Terminal and type "multidisabler" (without quotes", then data wipe.
Now reboot into system, after completing first setup of the device reboot into TWRP again to see if you can see the contents of your Internal Storage, you should, if yes you have successfully disabled Samsung encryption of internal storage.
If you have any problems》》 can pm me.
