Can we partition the SD card using ROM Manager, or is there any complication to doing this?
I don't think there will.. but better to ask.
Let me know.
Thanks

I used cwm to partition mine and no problems.

you can partition, with it no problem...although I don't see the need to, you have 2 gigs of space just for apps, and you can even put a lot of those on the internal sd.

[Q] MicroSDHC

Hi, I am going to buy Transcend TS16GUSDHC6 for p500.
My question is that if p500 will support 16gb class 6 card ? I heard that anything over 8gb slows OS as it has to read more data.
Please help me decide.
Thanks
You can go for it.

If you don't use ext partition, than you can just copy files in explorer of some other file manager, if you using it, you will need some tool, which can copy also information about ext partition.
Teoretical you can mount ext in recovery, and just do copy of all data and than restore it. Also NAND with EXT should work well.
Your mileage wrt the capcity & class of card may vary, as can be seen here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870014

[Q] How do I unpartition my SD card?

Hello Everyone!
I partitioned my SD card back when I had my Nexus One. Now, I'm interested in reversing that process. I just recently rooted, unlocked, and flashed my phone. Unfortunately, CWM doesn't offer an option to partition my SD card. How does one do that these days? I just want my SD card to be unpartitioned.
Thanks
Chump
You should be able to format the sd card form the phone itself, like going to menu, settings, storage, dismount sd card then format sd card, I think this removes partitions, also destroying all data in the card.

Backup sdcard contents to computer. On computer delete all partitions, then you will have one big unallocated space. Create a new partition using all available space. Copy backed up data back onto sdcard. Put back in phone.

+1 as the standard windows partition tool does not delete the 2nd partition. You will lose everything on the 2nd partition as even with mini tool you can't access it, only delete it and format it.
Oh, exactly.. make sure to back up any important data.

To be honest, yeah. It's cool that he revived it. I am sitting here with a soft bricked Samsung Infuse and can't find a lick of information that is even slightly useful to me. [Q] Anyone using Link2sd?

So i haven't used link2sd but i've read many good things so i'm trying it out on my OG evo while I wait for best buy to call me and tell me my evoLTE is in. For those that already have the phone can you give me a simple walk through for partitioning and which format to use, ext2, ext3,ext4, etc
i just did a partition using amon's recovery and made a 2gb ext3 on the OG evo. about to download link2sd and give it a try
edit...i have my evoLTE but I'm hesitant to partition my 32sd card.. any input anyone??
double post
I don't think you'd need to use link2sd. Maybe phones with 1gig of storage like on the OG EVO but the LTE has 16 gigs internal.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
16gigs internal but i thought only 2gigs was for app data...did i read that wrong, i'm pretty sure only 2gb are allocated for apps
yep i triple checked....2gb for apps
for anyone interested Link2SD works fine if you make the partition ext2, I made a 8gb ext2 partition on my 32gb card and moved apps over to the sd just fine. I saw multiple posts about people wishing they could store their apps on the external sd, well this is one way
As of version 2.1.1 Link2sd will NOT work on El Tevo. It doesn't recognize the external sdcard. It only recognizes the internal flash ram - which is not something I want to partition at this time.
Particularly since I'm waiting for a non-HTC method of unlocking the bootloader and I have no custom recovery/nandroid.

Hows performance? Most of the time you take a hit on that area when you run any type of apps to SD programs ...

I haven't noticed any change in the apps i moved to link2sd....i didn't move any apps that deal with music or video though like Netflix, slingplayer, YouTube. so just be smart about which apps you move, but it works great

How would you change the partition? I've been trying to figure out how to save my apps on my 32gb since I got this phone. Link2SD doesn't detect my external at all.

Use a programm like Minitool Partition Wizard, there are others that are similar but i like this one because it is simple to use and allows youcreate a second partition on your SD without having to format it. So you don't have to backup and then put everything back on the card again.

i have a 32gb card. i want a 4gb partition for apps, so i need to make one ext2 that is 4gb...does the exact size matter? also, does the 2nd partition need named? if so, what should i name it? i downloaded minitool partition wizard and it looks easy enough.
The exact size doesn't matter and it doesn't have to be named.

Questions before selling my i9100

Guys i'm going to sell my i9100 this week, and I have some questions. At this moment, I've Beanstalk installed (4.4.2, nightly release), but I think I'm going to install CM 10.1.3, because it's a stable release. This is a good idea, right?
I'm always a bit "affraid" that people could recover my personal data. Is there a way to avoid this?
How can I format the internal memory? There's a lot of garbage on that partition, personal data and some stuff from all the ROM's that I've installed. So, i want to format this partition. A little help... please?
And I think this is it. Thanks a lot!

I know. But I don't want to erase the internal memory. I never used the internal memory to store my personal files, so that's not a problem.
Formatting the internal memory is a bit different of formatting a regular SD Card, I think... Otherwise, I will do this the simple way: Computer -> right click -> Format -> Done.

Go into recovery - mounts and storage. Here you can format your internal storage. But I still would recommend to write everything over with this program.

Link2sd plus will do that for you. It has an option of placing the application and/or its data on the sd. It's a paid app, but only $2 - well worth it imo.

OK, I should have been clearer. This is more complex than what I first described. In order to use Link2SD plus optimally, you will need to perform a few steps. You can find the reasoning behind them in the Link2SD FAQ (although a bit outdated). Here are the steps you should perform:
1. Backup your SD. This is a means of precaution only.
2. Reformat your SD drive to add a second ext3/ext4 partition (no need to wipe the data or anything like that). Its size should be about 10% of the total SD size. You can do it with MiniTool Partition Wizard. Make sure that the new partition is primary and not logical.
3. Reinstall Link2SD plus in order for it to recognize the new SD layout. May need to reboot here.
4. From Link2SD plus, choose your game. Tick all Link options, especially the link data option.
This will fool the game to think that its data is located on the internal storage, but it's really on the SD. In this case, the 3GB data should now be downloaded to SD.

LOL yeah. Although I'm a big android fan, this specific issue (the whole dealing with external SD that is) is a weak spot which android keeps failing to address throughout its releases. I know where it's coming from (basef on linux) but it's still something that should have gotten a proper creative solution by now.

No problem mate. It's best for you to try all the methods posted here by other people before trying Link2SD plus. If they work, it'll save you much hassle. I've tried to think of a guide for you, and it figured to me that the only way for it to work is if you either get an SD card reader or alternatively another device that allows you to mount the SD in a USB MSC (mass storage class) mode, as AFAIK LG stock devices only allow MTP mode, something that won't allow you to format a partition using your PC.

Yes, CWM is Clockwork Mod - Android's recovery program. Reason I asked is that it has a built-in ability to partition your SD, something that'll ease things up.
And don't feel bad about not partitioning theSD - this shouldn't be done in the vast majority of the cases, only in when you wanna use apps like Link2SD or others that need to push Android to the limit...

I guess it's possible, but I don't know how to do it...
Regarding Link2SD plus guide, you'll need one of the following two:
1. CWM on your device
2. A card reader, or another phone that allows you to mount the SD as MSC (like Disk On Key - in windows it'll show as an additional drive)
