next time dont post in the dev section. this needs to be in Q&A, and really its a waste of a post. There is a BIG FAT STICKY THREAD at the top just for people like you..
Please PM a mod to move the thread to Q & A

I work in an ER and i can't count how many times I tell people where the bathroom is even though there's signs. But I never get mad or annoyed though. It's just human nature I guess.

So I keep reading about Mainver. I don't recall any talk of this for the Droid Incredible, so just for educational purposes (and my own info-junkie curiosity) - what is the Mainver and why should I be concerned about it when flashing Rom's?
search for god's sake. I have written up a multi paragraph thread explaining it posted in the general section. It is probably within the top 3 pages too

Sorry man. I did originally search, but I simply overlooked it on the search results.
I see it now.

We understand, you half-arsed your search.
J/K bro, it's all good, this just crowds it up and we've seen SOO many of these threads I lost count.

I think con247 is really upset at me. He hasn't accepted my apology!!!
Just kidding, I really try not to be one of those dudes that pisses off the devs that do all the hard work.
Main Version issues are my pet peeve. If someone asks about it I just want to punch them. It is a well documented issue with multiple ways to fix it that are compatible with mac,pc, and linux and can be fixed from the device itself. It clogs up rom threads, kernel threads, random threads and clogs up the forums with questions about it.
Im sick of the endless threads of "which is the best rom"
So how about we have a rom top ten chart which users can vote for?
We could also have sub categories for miui, aokp and so on.
I think its a feature that could be added to the xda site. I think it would help new users find what they're looking for.

Sob....Sob......Ok....now I've stopped laughing......you say your sick of best Rom threads, and then create one!?!.....I see what you did there!
DO NOT POST A "What's the best ROM/Kernel/Theme?" THREAD!
One day, this message will sink in.
Thread Closed.
EDIT: Figured it out. Rather simple!
Awesome, thanks for the help guys! :silly:
Read read read.
Find your device listed in device threads there should be many options to root your device and help guide you along your way. Search is your friend.

Rotting WILL void your warranty. Read through forums first and get a good idea of why you want to before proceeding.

I just picked up this device a couple days ago, and starting to get involved in this device forum community. I've noticed there does not seem to be a index or compilation thread here to organize ROMs, mods, and other resources.
I've done such a thing for my old device (AT&T One X) and willing to do the same for the M8. You can see my work here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
I'm not a developer, so this is my way of contributing to the awesome XDA community. The Index would be posted in General, per forum guidelines and I would request the mods sticky it to the top of that forum.
Any opinion on this, or suggestions, comments, etc. are welcome. If there is some concurrence, I can start on this right away.

Do it to it! ?

I messaged an admin about starting an "official stupid question thread" and how to go about starting one and getting it stickied. Awaiting response

My index thread is up. Definitely an early work in progress. But here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432
