If so, can you explain how you did it because I haven't been able to figure it out yet. By the way, I've already tried all of the standard methods explained here on the forums.
I figured it out!
In Dinkn's glassy icons the facebook file name is: Start_Icon_HTC_facebook.png. This file resides in the windows folder. When you change the icon lt doesn't create a facebook.bmg in the cash. The solution is to make a copy of the original file, rename it to facebook.png and past it to the folder of your choice. Now when you use one of the icon changing programs to change the icon it will create the bmg file in the cash and the new icon will show in the quicklinks menu--sweet
i just used that ICON changer and it worked 1st time...
just hit the show all default icons...then from there..replace it with the one you want

Droid Sans and Clockopia. You can just pull it from /system/fonts from another ROM

you should try ROBOTO by Google. It is amazing and looks smooth.
So once you get your Superuser working again, you can do this to change your fonts. I am attaching the original fonts that came with the phone but you can use any .ttf (true text fonts) you want and the process is the same. There is an app in the market called fontchanger that works too, but for me it caused an unrecoverable bootloop that I had to Odin to stock to get out of. Probably something to do with the permissions not being set correctly. I have done the below many times and was just looking for an easier way to do it. Foolish me. You can get fonts at 1001fonts.com or google .ttf fonts and some sites will show up.
SPELLING COUNTS~~make sure it is spelled correctly and Capitals are where they should be and make a CWR backup before you do this so if anything happens you can revert to your backup.
1-Download the .zip below and unzip it. Inside are the original fonts that came with the phone.
2- open you file explorer (I use Root Explorer) Make sure it is ticked RW (In Root Explorer the button is top right) and go to /system/font/Clockopia.ttf and rename it Clockopia.ttf1.
3- place new Clockopia.ttf (the one the you unzipped from below) in /system/fonts
4- long press on the new Clockopia.ttf and hit permissions. ***This is important b/c if you don't do this correctly, you WILL bootloop and have to restore your backup.
~~Permissions are as follows (see attached picture)
User: check Read, Write; no check on Execute
Group: check Read; no check on Write or Execute
Others: check Read; no check on Write or Execute
5- Repeat for steps for DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf
6- Once all the above are done for all three fonts Clockopia.ttf, DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf you can delete the originals that you renamed .ttf1
Double check the permissions for all three and if they are like the picture below, you can reboot.
Above all for you and anyone else wanting to do this manually,if you are not comfortable with doing this, then DON'T

I've seen some posts regarding how to change fonts in ICS, and I've tried some tutorials out there that didn’t work on the amaze, so here's what has worked for me, even though some apps say that bootloops will happen on ICS, try the following, after you make a backup
1. Download your ttf file(s), and put it in an accessible folder/location on either internal/external SD.
2. Go to es file, root explorer etc. and go to system/fonts
3. For all four roboto fonts, set permissions to RWX RWX RWX
4. Download font changer from market (green F with 2 gears behind the letter)
5. in font changer, tap the advanced tab, and scroll down to the roboto fonts
6. If you only have the one font, then set each roboto font to that one ttf file. If you have a font with a replacement for each type, bold, italic etc. then replace each one with its respectful font. Just find its location that you set when you installed your font on your SD.
7. Don't reboot when font changer asks you, change all your fonts first, then restart with the power button.
If all went well, your phone will restart and your new font will replace roboto. Now, the only other thing that I would add to this is that when you load a new font and if you restored font changer, I've found that when you open the app and scroll down to roboto in the advanced tab, you'll see that each one has the directory set to your new font, but it still shows roboto. So, what I've done to fix that is you have to go through the whole operation again, but change your directory for your new font. An easy way I do that is if I have my new font in my internal SD, I just put it in my external SD, so I can find it easy, but still change its location, and then just do the same as before just pick your new font in the new directory.
This has always worked for me, so hopefully it'll work for you too

I saw a post earlier on G+ about the G2 and Roboto. Basically you can only use normal and bold; italic, bold italic, Roboto Light, Roboto Thin, and Roboto Condensed don't work. The weight also appears to be off.
I did some looking around and all the fonts are present on the system. I made a quick test app to compare the fonts on the G2 and Galaxy Nexus and set to figure out how to fix it.
It's pretty simple, just copy the system_fonts.xml file in the zip to \system\etc. You'll probably want to backup and/or rename the existing file first and give it the same file permissions. You'll need root and a file explorer that can mount system. Reboot and you should be able to see the changes.
I copied the file over to internal storage and used Total Commander to copy the xml file after renaming the original file.
The weight is still wrong but at least if the developer wanted to use Roboto and italics, you'll now be able to see italics.
If rooted, u can use jrummys font app, and install any font the app has, it replaces the roboto font in stock font settings....

If you want to fix the weight issues, you can download Roboto directly from Google. Just click "Download Roboto" and extract the zip, then copy to your phone. In adb you can do this:
Assuming you put the roboto files at /sdcard/roboto
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cp /sdcard/roboto/*.ttf /system/fonts
This will overwrite the ones from the stock rom, so if you're concerned about that, you can make a backup first:

mkdir /sdcard/roboto-stock
cp /system/fonts/Roboto* /sdcard/roboto-stock
After that and using your modded system_fonts.xml, I have nice proper typography in the Play Store and other Holo apps.

Thanks for this guys, much appreciated. I combined both of these procedures and now have all stock android roboto system fonts that render perfectly everywhere, most notably in the play store. FYI: I ended up just using root explorer to move both the xml file as well as all of the stock font files to the proper directories, changed permissions and rebooted. Good as gold :good:
Followed the instructions and now everything looks as it's supposed to!
DashClock now looks great.

I've tried it manually and it just screws up certain screens. On the password entry when making a purchase in Play Store, you only see a corner of a huge letter where it tells you to enter your password and you can't see what you're typing at all. The Tasker app is really affected, with the preferences window being a complete disaster; the fonts are massive and spread out like crazy even though my phone is set to the smallest font size. There are several other places here and there where it really messes up too.
When it works, it looks great. But for the odd screen that it screws up, it's just not worth it. I'm glad I backed up the stock files first.
Yes, I put the xml file in /system/etc/ and downloaded the fonts from Google and put them in /system/fonts/. I changed all the file permissions. I rebooted and could see the font changes, but in some places the font was just way too large and the spacing between lines was huge. Perhaps the modified xml file still needs more tweaking.

can confirm all that was said above. there are small graphical glitches here and there too, like in gmail upon selection half of the bar up top gets colored blue, etc.
edit: just restored the backup and noticed gmail still does it, perhaps it's not font related and i just haven't noticed that before but it's definitely shouldn't be there.

apparently other phones (like HTC One) suffer from this bug too. does anybody know what causes this?
Try switching to another font and then back to Roboto. I had to do that to make it fully operational. But yeah, in a few places there are minor glitches and inconsistencies.

after playing around with different fonts i think i found a combination that works perfectly on our phones:
- download "stock Roboto fonts from the 4.3 base ROM" from here. strangely enough, i think those are stock HTC One fonts.

the easiest way to check if the font is "working" properly is going to the Call logs screen and check the date stamp as it appears broken with some. thanks alex72 for the thread tip!)

and done. light, condensed, bold, italic, everything seems to be working and without the issues in the usual places.
Fixing font without rooting
The above method worked perfectly. I did not want to actually root my phone and trip any root checkers, so I accomplished everything via a temporary root adb shell (IOroot ftw!).
The following was done on a stock AT&T D800 with OTA (D80010o).
Make sure to switch to another font in Display settings before attempting this.
Get root adb access. IOroot should be able to help you out with that. Make sure to end the batch script at the point it warns you, so as not to push SU and trip anything.
Make backups.
Code:
adb pull /system/etc/system_fonts.xml
adb pull /system/fonts
Move these someplace safe, just in case.
Unzip RobotoFont_G2.zip to directory with adb (repackaged using xml from first post, and Roboto font from HTC One 4.3 base ROM - mannequin's post)
Push new files

adb shell mount -o remount,rw /system
adb push system_fonts.xml /system/etc/system_fonts.xml
adb push ./fonts /system/fonts
Fix permissions and reboot

adb shell
cd /system/etc
chmod 644 system_fonts.xml
cd ..
cd fonts

exit
adb reboot
The title says it all. I've been looking for 3 days and I can't figure out how to install a font so the built-in font chooser will recognize it. I have LG Smartworld installed and I can download and use fonts from there through the font chooser. Their selection is pretty limited though. I have also tried out the various apps (Fonter, iFont) and had unsatisfactory results. So which files go where to make this possible?

I am pretty sure you just place the font TTP file in SYSTEM>FONTS
You need to have access with some type of root file explorer app. Then set permissions to match other reboot and it should show up as an option in the fonts to choose from.

I'm a little leary of that. For the fonts that are available in the settings menu, there are two files for each one in System/fonts. One is (Font Name)_Regular.ttf, the other is (Font Name)_Bold.ttf. I don't know if I rename the same file for each or if I should have separate bold and regular files. Another thing is that the files in System/font are big compared the .ttf files I extracted. The extracted files are between 80 and 120kb. The ones in the font picker are 800kb to 1.3mb. Seems like too big a difference. The last thing I noticed is that downloaded fonts from LG World don't show up in that location, only the stock fonts. Haven't found where the downloaded ones go yet.
