[Q] N00b mistake of deleting apps using Titanium Backup... need pro-level help (: - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So I finally got my Transformer Prime and rooted it manually using the NachoRoot method because I wanted to get rid of all the ASUS bloat apps. After I rooted it, I installed Titanium Backup (free version cause my Market account is broke right now with purchases stuck in the Pending state) and since I couldn't use the "Freeze" function with the free version, my n00bness thought that if I backed them up first using Titanium Backup, then deleted them, that Titanium Backup would be able to restore them, but I found out the hard way, that wasn't the case... I've since read that it will only restore them if the app is still on the device.
So, my question to the people with more wisdom then myself is...
Is there a manual way to get those apps back on there via the backups that TiBa made?
I tried unarchiving them and manually putting the .apk's back in /system/app/ folder, but I noticed that the .odex file I don't have anymore and they're not showing up in the app drawer just putting the .apk files in there by themselves.
Is there anyone that would be so gracious as to do a full dump of the /system/app/ folder on the 8.8.3.33 build so I can just put the .apk's and .odex's back in there using Root Explorer?
My goal is to get those back in there the way it came stock and go back to using the Freeze method so it doesn't remove them so I don't have any issues when the ICS update hits.
Thanks in advance for anyone who chimes in to help!

i experience with Tbu is that you can batch add apps and their data regardless of whether you have them on the device or not... thats the whole point of it
and there is a dumb i believe in the development area... if i had my cable at work i woulda done it
but as long as you backed up in Tbu, just batch install them all

System dump: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418487
Also, next time do a NAND backup of possible.
You could always reflash your ROM too.
And yes, Titanium backup keeps all the files you backed up in a folder. So even if you removed it from your device. Titanium has a copy on your SD card.

Thanks for the reply.
When I go into the batch section (I'm now on the paid version of TiBa), if I go into "Restore all apps with data" or "Restore missing apps with data", those both show nothing in the list to restore... but I know they're there cause I see them on the SD card in the TitaniumBackup folder and if I do a "Verify all your backups", they all show up.
I take it I'm missing something or am in the wrong menu?

means you didn't restore them, really.
or something is wrong with the app

Can you restore without data.

No, does the same thing as when I try to restore with data... just sits there saying "restoring" but I can let it go for 10 minutes on just one app and I eventually just force quit it since I know it's not doing anything.

Okay, so I downloaded that dump (thank's for the link)... so if I just put in the .apk and .odex for each app TiBa removed, will that do it? Is there anything else attached to each app that would go anywhere else besides the user data (which I don't want anyway)?

If you see tbu app backup stuff on your memory card you may need to go into the settings menu of tbu and change backup folder location to the place where that folder is on your sd

how would you do a NAND backup without booting into ClockworkMod? Unless i've missed it somewhere that is not yet available on Primes, and there are no ROMS available as of yet.

Okay, so I downloaded that system dump and tried taking the apk and odex for AppLocker (one I had removed with TiBa) and put them in /system/app/ and set the permissions the same as the other apps in the app folder and restarted the device... AppLocker doesn't show up in the app drawer
Any ideas why?

And how would I flash an update if it's already on the latest version from ASUS?

You should be able to push the apk to system to data - the odex should be created in dalvik_cache on boot (you need to rename them if you want to move them into /system)

what happens if you just run the apk? will it not install itself?

my tablet will flash the latest manual update on itself

have you tried putting .33 on an sd card and doing a manual update. I know you already have it on, but if you put it on the sd card, it usually asks again if you want to update.

Titanium Backup restore problems...

I was trying to do a restore with Titanium Backup to restore apps and data and everything in the batch list is greyed out with a line through it.. what gives?? So, I am unable to restore any apps. I am using the pro version, so I don't see what I paid for.
Can someone enlighten me on this. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to download something else?
thanks.
I believe you have to install the app first, idk but i did that with skype and got my data back

Greyed out with a line through them items are the apps that are not currently installed.
If you click on them, it should give you an option to restore, providing that you have backed them up before, of course.
Also, in batch mode, you can restore them all -or chosen ones- at once.
Did you expect to just open the app and your phone go back to the way it was before?
i have the same problem
it restored just few of them automatically
i believe i have to manually install the rest and then restore just the data
but isn't that stupid?
Has anyone found a way around that?
the developer said something about fixing the market link with market doctor option, but that's in the paid version
I spoke to the dev about it actually and he said there seems to be an error with my TBU, so I need to re-install and erase the backup folder and try and backup everything again and verify. I had to redo everything manually.
Thanks for the help though guys. I appreciate it..
I actually just removed TimeScape and a bunch of other useless (to me) stock apps. I did notice as well when I clicked on a greyed-out item that I had uninstalled, there was no restore button.
So I would have to manually restore everything I had backed up, delete the folder, and reinstall?
Hardly seems worth it. I would just reflash if/when I have to restore.
Is there any way to restore all applications with "one click restore"?
I'm getting tired of pressing accept-done for every applications.

I am moving from a TB to the GIII, and am seeing the same issue. Only my installed apps are greyed out. I've copied a new one over, put the card in the other phone backed up and no change. Pretty strange. Time for a little googling...

I copied over my TitaniumBackup folder from my PC to my atrix
but my titanium backup can't seem to "see" the folder or the old apps.....is there a fix or am I doing something wrong?

Maybe you should check the direction of the folder where you have backupped your Apps.

Check to make sure that your Titanium Backup folder is in the same location that you had with your Captivate. This was a problem for me in the past.

just to make sure, I tried backuping fruitninja THD that I installed on my atrix
it went into the titaniumbackup folder that I put on the internal sd/storage but it doesn't detect my other app backups

Hmm, you could try creating a new backup folder in TB and then moving the old backups over.

fiddled around with preferences.....now it seems to work now
thanks all
I'm glad you figured it out...i had problems when i loaded a new rom...i went into settings, preferences, down to trouble shooting and set App processing to "Auto, Indirect"
Also another setting that has helped some in the same situation is in preferences as well... scroll down to "Migrate system data" this helps compatibility issues with ROM's.
Hope this helps someone in the future.
cheers
I see you fixed it but I believe you needed to choose refresh app list from menu. Just in case anyone else has this problem maybe it will help them.

I believe i did do that each time but nothing happened
but then I went into preferences then selected the folder for the "where to store" part of TiBu
nonetheless, glad I got it working and if anyone stumbles onto this problem, hopefully they'll see this thread

Titanium Backup not working...ideas?

So i backed up all my apps to my internal SD card. i flashed a new rom, installed TB, and now it wont see my backups. I verified that its looking in the correct folder, that the files still exist, and that there are .apk.gz files in the backup folder. Still though, it wont show any apps when I try to restore all missing apps.
If i install the apks for each app though, it has no problem restoring the data for the apps. What gives?
This has happened on Touch Wiz, CM9, and AOKP.
Any help is appreciated.

I have the exact same issue! I have tried everything and no luck. I created a similar thread and no one has any ideas why this is happening. Please let us know if you find the answer. I pretty much redownloaded all of my apps to just get it over with.
Good luck
Probably a stupid question, but after you changed the path and tripple check that it's the correct path where all your backups are, did you restarted TB/phone?
If you simply hit back button it doesn't actually quit TB.
I am having the same problem. I am noticing that tubular just isn't doing the restores correct at all. For instance I did a restore of Shadowgun and my saves weren't restored. I have never had these issues before I came to the S3

I had the same problem with Titanium Backup at first. My backups were on my external SD card straight outta my DroidX. I assumed /mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup would be the right location, but on the SGS3 you have to go to /mnt/extSDcard/TitaniumBackup or manually copy the folder over first. Once I fixed that path, it started restoring just fine.
If you go to the filter, and select Backed Up instead of All, do they show up then?
I had a similar issue. Try removing titanium backup from the Super user app, then run titanium backup again.

I have a similar problem with Ti backup too.
It sees zero apps.
uninstalled
reinstalled
removed from superuser
updated SU binaries
folder location is in appropriate place
even cleared cache/dalvik and fix permissions in recovery when it was uninstalled.
I redirected the the save location to my external SD card and it worked for me. It may only be seeing your internal sd card

[Q] Restoring backed up APK's from SD card

Howdy..Can anyone help me please..I finally just moved into the 21st century and bought a SGH-i717..I have been going crazy to try and work out how i can restore my APK's? (i think this is the correct terminolog, they are my saved APPS i had before i rooted the phone)
I can see them on my SD card but cannot get them back onto my phone..I have been to TWRP and it didnt give me an option to restore them..Or perhaps there is just a simplier way..Any help greatly appreciated..
Cheers
If you can see them, press and hold the apk, and it will ask if you want to install it.
If it won't install, you might have to go to settings and enable third party apps.
installing apps from backup SD card
thank you for your reply..it doesn't give me the option to install the APP., just delete, copy etc..I already do have the Third Party Apps turned on..Do i have reinstall all the APPS after they are backed up? I thought that i could just drag them to a folder and it would do everything..thanx

Using a file manager look at the file. Make sure it ends with ".apk" Long pressing won't work. Just touch the file once like you want to open it. It should ask to install. If it's not installing you might have a corrupt apk.
Unfortunately there is no drag and drop to reinstall apk's. You can use an app to backup and restore them for you! Which makes me think "What did you use to backup your apps?" There should be a "restore" command. My favorite app for this is Titanium backup. You can also use others like es file explorer, system tuner... the list goes on!

[Q] How to restore appdata manually?

I got a replacement Galaxy s3 through insurance and I had been using "GoBackup" to backup app and data. However it didn't appear to have restored any of the appdata. I believe it may have been restoring to /data/data/data/data instead of /data/data but when I tried to copy and paste the folders to their proper location the app won't work anymore. It will just say "unfortunately, app has stopped work" whenever I try to launch the app again.
I have also tried copying the appdata folder directly from a CWM backup and tried to paste it on the new phone under /data/data and this seemed to provide some results however after rebooting the phone the data gets wiped and it's back to as if the app was freshly installed.
I can't figure out what I'm missing. Anyone have any insight?
P.S. The new phone has TWRP since it has the locked bootloader. So I couldn't just restore my CWM backup to it. The old phone got bricked trying to installed TWRP Recovery.

I was actually having the same idea. If I coppied the appdata from /data/data/data/data to /data/data, then tried to run the app it would crash every time I try to launch it. Then if I rebooted the phone it would delete all the appdata in /data/data that I copied over.
However this time I decided to copy it over again, then take a TitaniumBackup of the app+data even though the app kept crashing when I tried to launch it. Uninstalled the app, then did a titanium restore, and for some reason it worked.
