Most Flash Videos DONT Work on my Prime... - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Now here's a weird problem I could really use some help with. For whatever reason, most flash videos won't play on my unit. The random site, like NHL will work but YouTube and Blip either don't load, or play for a split second and then stop. Pluggins are enabled, I've updated flash, and I've even done a factory reset to no avail. I've also tried using other browsers like Dolphin and Opera which also don't work. Skyfire is the only one that works but it plays the videos terribly.
Here are some videos I made for your reference that demonstrate the problem.

is this with the stock browser? stock browser usually plays all flash. opera mobile needs updating for the prime as only sound comes out unless you can somehow press the expand button on the video. that works with YouTube in opera.
have you went to the marketplace to make sure you have the latest version of adobe flashplayer?

cam4, tube8, pornhub ... yep mine all works great

Yep. Both of those videos were taken with stock browser. And yea, flash is fully updated.
Weird huh? One would think its a software issue, since video play perfectly with dedicated applications. But for whatever reason, they just refuse to play in the browser
Defective unit?

youtube and all other flash sites I have seen have worked for me but I did try that blip.tv and it didn't work on stock or dolphin browser for whatever reason

I had the exact same problem until someone kindly reminded me to make sure I had adobe flash installed/updated. I just assumed it was I guess. I don't know. Excitement and being lost in the world of checking out a new toy can bring out the the dunce cap in the best of us. Speaking of me of course, this may not be your problem.

Quite odd.....
Most are able to play all flash videos without a problem while some of us, like you and me, are having problems with some videos.
What could it be?

So I tried uninstalling adobe flash with inentions of reinstalling it but noticed it simply say's "update" when I uninstall instead of "install". So after uninstalling I tried other flash sites that worked before and they still worked despite uninstalling flash (seems to only uninstall an update and not the whole thing?). blip.tv still did not work.
reinstalled flash after and still no go.
Not sure whats up with these sites. They have the same video player look though so something to do with the player they are using? I also notice that in dolphin, where I normally get a green arrow that I need to press first to enable flash on a site, doesn't show it for this video player they use.

Do you get the same screen that I get when I try to view these videos? Meaning the gray screen with the little cinema sign in the middle?
As mentioned though the super confusing part is that most people are having no issues playing these videos.....

hmmmmmm very weird then. And youtube doesn't work for you as well eh? Are you going to the mobile version or full?

Havent tried the full version yet, just the default youtube page. Sometimes it works though on youtube, however i cant control the player at all.

Well I have no idea at all whats going on. My youtube does work fine though which makes it pretty odd. Although I just noticed that when a video finishes on youtube it shows that cinema icon on top of the usual youtube play icon... Still works though

Exactly the same as me. It almost seems like two different codecs are conflicting?....

maybe a rooted device with blocked ads (adfree/ad-away)? this can mess up things, too...

I have 100% the same issue as the thread starter. It is a NON-rooted unit and I am afraid that the only fix would be to actually root it and uninstall completely and re-install but with the ICS update coming in 6 days I think I will just wait.

No flash issues here at all.

[Q] Browers closing when watching flash vids with new firmware 2.1.2

Since doing the upgrade to the new 2.1.2, i can no longer view flash heavy sites like IGN.com. When i try to watch a video review, the video will play for a while, then the browser closes out on its on. Its not a memory issues as i always have 110mb free before launching my browsers, and i have tried both the market version of flash and the droid X version. This same situation happens with every browser that i have tried so far. This has never happened with the previous firmware upgrade. Anyone else experiencing this issue??
Yes I get the same with my A70. Firmware 2.1.2, stock browser and droid x flash.
Mobile or full site? Just getting to the page or actually trying to view a video?

Yup, just went over to ign and tried watching a video review, after the commercial of dr. Pepper which played stuttery, it tried to load the video review and then force closed the browser.
And I'm using Droid X version.
Did you let Archos know? They will work on bugs, but only if they know of them.
My 70 is doing this before and after the update. Most frustrating.
Please guys update to2.1.3 actually works very good with flash! And i was just on ign.com and watched a vid very smooth.
I actually have default browser jumping out to desktop even with the old 2.0.71, this happens whenever there is heavy flash video content. The flash either caused the browser to jump out to desktop or it'll just display a "!" sign after playing the video for a while. I think both are a sign of out of memory.
i have this exact same problem, have no idea why
Update to 2.1.3 [as newfierideout said] it is worth it, And will probably solve all your problems.

Updated to 2.1.3 same problem, browser force close trying to watch ign.com videos, it sees the ad video before tho
Edit: weirdest thing, i overclocked to 1200 and installed auto memory manager, set that to aggressive, and ign video review played, stuttering a bit seldomly with the speaker cracking sound. Then i tried a second ign video and the device crashed.

Same situation... agfer upgrading to 2.03 all works smooth with standard browser and Flash.
Some problem with Dolphin and flash... sometimes it closes.... but ... only sometimes...
I uninstalled the Droid version of flash and installed the one from the market, now I can watch ign videos! But it pauses/jerks sometimes lol don't know why.
I had trouble finding it in the market, even with the market fix, which I did many times.
Found this solution in archosfans:

I upgraded to 2.1.4 today and still get the odd web browser shut down when playing flash.
I think its more an issue of the flash not being the right one. Archos still hasnt released its verison of 10.1.

[Q] no youtube video

my first thread. just received viewsonic gtab. charged it turned it on and there was no option to update to 3588.i tried to update it but says system is up to date.. current version is 3389. when i connected to my pc i noticed on the root there was already a recovery and a update zip. file..also angry birds did not work out of the box it would just go to an empty screen. downloaded new one and works fine.somehow i also lost the stock video and pictures that it came with. i hate to go through the trouble of sending it back.. oh cnn videos work a little sluggish though. any thoughts thanks i do plan to add new rom but i got to figure problems first.. i am not very good and tech stuff. hope this makes sense. oh also there is a white spec that seems embedded under the screen protector, not visible when tab is on but bears another mystery.seems like this may have been pre owned. thanks hope to hear your guys opinion. cheers
At this point you might as well follow the instructions to put a rom on it. I didn't update mine but I just put clockworks on it and a rom. Yours sounds messed up already. Worst case you have to send it back.

[Q] fullscreen videos wont work since ics

Hi, first of all sorry if this post is hidden somewhere but since i upgraded my tf201 to ice cream sandwish igot this problem : I can't play megavideo videos in fullscreen it just lead to a white page, on stock browser video works but after 5-10 mins the browser shutdown im kinda out of ideas. I tried uninstalling flash, dolphin browser hd, reinstalling both and tried iphone, ipad, android and desktop mode everytime with same result video hang then whitescreen gotta restart browser. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Anyone had this problem???
Have you tried with the Flash update that came out today for compatibility with ICS?
Is it a different version than the one from market? I just uninstall/reinstall flash and dolphin hd tonight from market thx for reply
So nobody got this problem since ics??
Try using a 3rd party app such as Mobo or Rockplayer. If that doesn't work try a factory reset. Also ask Jerdog to move this to Q&A as this is a question.
I am also having this problem on my tp running ics dolphin and adobe. everything is up to date and says that it will fix the problem, but it does not. it happens on random videos, some work in full screen and some white screen. I think it has something to do with the flash player because I did not have the problem until i installed adobe (it was needed to play some videos that are now white screening). Videos work fine until they go fullscreen. My stock browser works fine and rarely crashes. I just like dolphins ui the best.
Any fixes found?
I am also having this issue, have tried 10 browsers, it is happening in all of them when you try to play embedded video and full screen videos. Frustrating as hell. I am sure an update is coming that will fix it.
No Problems Here...
My TFP is working flawlessly since ICS, the HD video play pretty well without any lag. I have a bunch of them... try a clearing the data from the app.

thanks alot for all you're answers, i tryed a system restore yesterday with no success i already tried to push back and retry fullscreen didnt work as for the 3rd party i'll try that tonight same goes for the link ill post it tonight since im actually at work. Anyway the videos i tried was from animefreak website i tried using a different mirror (different player than megavideo) with same result. Ill keep you updated, thanks
Hitting back does nothing as the prime will freeze on a white screen. App must be rebooted to function properly.
I have seen this problem on pc due to the hardware acceleration option, i wonder if that might have something to do with it. Although it would be weird to have hardware acceleration on a flash player meant for a tablet. I tried to mess with the player settings but found nothing that would help.
Although the stock browsers is not so fun it seems to work so I would just use it until the issue is fixed.

I have the same probleme yesterday. But i have an fix that works for me.
1. First deinstall over Apps the Flash Player.
2. Then install the flashplayer 11 over the market!!!
This is important because, if you open the browser without flash it ask you to install flash and with this package it doesn't work. I dont know why, but only the package in the Market work with fullscreen flashvideos!
I hope i can help you
EDIT:
It work for the first time, after it shown the with screen you describe
EDIT2:
It works, but only in the AndroiBrowser! In the other Browser only a white screen is shown.

The Daily Show.com CBS.com have anyone had any success with watching these videos?

I'm struggling to get anything to play from these websites. I know they rely on Flash and pretty much the stock browser is the only browser that can handle it.
But I have been unsuccessful at getting Comedy Central's The Daily Show website videos and CBS full episodes to play at all.
Any suggestions?

Try Dolphin HD from the market -- it can handle Flash as well. I know I got CBS.com to work at one point but I don't remember whether I was using stock or Dolphin. I'm at work so I can't test right now (firewall filters).
The only way I can view The Daily show on my Prime is through the Hulu+ app and even that requires a hack to get to work on the Prime.
How do the tablet world survive with such a lackluster of Flash support? Most sites I use rely heavily on Flash.
I just googled daily show, clicked full episodes in google result, watching full episode of daily show in stock browser right now, double click video to go full screen. I also just installed the newest update, the .14 one. I am in the US, 64 gb Amethyst grey.
I am also in power saving mode, this new update is doing wonders for me.
Edit: I also have my plugins set to on demand, so I get a white box with green arrow, I click it to start flash, works great for me.

Stock browser man, no + here. I can also use a program called stick it, which puts a small window anywhere on your screen thats sizable and movable and the video plays great.
Now at cbs.com when I click a video it asks what program I want to use to view the video. I use stick it so I can do other things while the video is playing in a small window in whatever I'm doing.
Now to make plugins on demand:
1) Launch stock browser, go to browser settings, go to advanced, go to enable browser plugins, click it, has 3 options, disable, on demand, and load I believe, make your choice and done.
Edit: Stick it
This program is really cool and works great.
Just updated to ICS .14 and testing this out on stock browser to provide my input but cbs.com goes to mobile version although some full episodes are in bits I can watch them.
If I go to setting and check off "Request desktop site" I get full site and can still watch full episodes.

I had a similar problem when I just got my Prime. I cleared data and cache for adobe and the browser, and that seemed to have fixed it. You can also try downloading Adobe AIR as well but I don't think it actually does anything even though some people recommended it. Also I DO NOT recommend Opera or Stock browser when using flash videos, instead try ICS Browser+ or Dolphin HD.

YouTube on CM7 7.2.0 RC0?

Hey guys,
I'm using the weekly posted in the subject line, and YouTube doesn't work as expected. Does anyone know of a fix?
Does the new 7.2 RC1 support it?
I can confirm it works flawlessly at the new 7.2 RC1, which by far, is one of the best and more complete roms ever tried. Specially battery life is just amazing.
Hope to help!
Awesome, looks like it's time to update.
Thanks!
So I updated to RC1, currently on faux's kernel.
YouTube still doesn't work, I tried clearing data too.

I don't know if this helps, but I have my LCD Density set at 200. It's strange though, because when I first flashed RC0, YouTube worked fine. Then I believe there was an update, and it was downhill after that.

I haven't changed any LCD settings, so whatever is standard in rc1, that's what mines set at.
The LCD settings never seemed to affect it before, strange.
Ok some browsers e.g default and Dolphin use built in video player to stream youtube videos hence the circle (which is singe of loading) and usually youtube app dont kick in automatically when u open a youtube link (in opera it does kick in auto)
But on its own youtube app is working perfect (no problems what so ever)
My youtube app doesn't kick in at all for HD videos, but if I turn it off it works.
It sucks because I tend to watch everything in HD...
So opening a link from a browser works, but not the app itself. I see the kicking in concept now.
Anyone ever find a fix?
Everything works fine within dolphin browser, just not the app.
