With the imminent release date for UK stores, I am put off more and more that the Prime has some teething troubles (e.g. GPS and WiFi performance), and am holding back on placing my order until I see the rollout with ICS in full effect. What is really troubling me though is I had my heart set on the Champagne Gold finish, and I see in one store that all the Amethyst Grey editions have been pre-ordered (sold out) whereas there are hardly any orders for the Champagne Gold version. Is there something wrong with Champagne Gold?
Am I missing something obvious here? I rather like the look of the Champagne Gold - even though I have not yet seen it in the flesh, only on computer screen pictures/video reviews. Is this not selling so well because everybody has preconceptions that tablets must be black/grey? Is it some sort of male hormone repression thing preventing people opting for any colour that deviates from the norm? I mean, if I order Champagne Gold should I also have a handbag or something? What shade of lipstick should... no, never mind.
Perhaps there is a physical issue such as the Champagne Gold finish gets scratched more easily or shows up scratches worse? Possibly there is an issue with the case expanding after a couple of weeks and losing its snug fit (as with another device using Champagne Gold)? Is it that accessories for the Prime will need to match the finish, and no third party accessories come in Champagne Gold, only grey? Maybe the link to the grey version was publicised and nobody could find the link to the gold?
This is a small thing to worry about, but in my obsessive world and lust for the Transformer Prime I feel I need answers to be satisfied. Can anybody help please?
I own a champagne gold one. It's more silver than gold and no there is nothing wrong with the color (so far, got it 10 days now). So far i didn't have the urge to buy a matching handbag or apply lipstick. Also nothing changed in my mind or around the genital area

Ahh, thanks. Some good responses on the thread you posted there. Nothing that speaks badly about the Champagne Gold though, so it looks like it is down to a personal choice rather than any defects or problems (seems maybe visible fingerprints could cause a problem though.)
Definitely evidence to back up the overwhelming interest in Amethyst Grey on your post, but so far Gold is the winner here! Choices, choices.
I got the grey because the bezel is black and matches a lot more.

Ahh, just as I was afraid... the Champagne Gold does not match whereas black does. But match what exactly?
The colors that matter to me come from the hella fine super ips screen.
At the moment for UK customers all you will find is the Amethyst model available. Because of this the majority of pre-orders will be centred around this particular couloured model.
As such don't get dragged into the belief the darker Prime is the one everyone wishes to own.
I myself have chosen to pre-order the Champagne model, purely because it balances well with both the interior of my vehicle where I will use it a lot and my office. In other words it's simply a cosmetic choice, nothing more and I don't expect either models to differ in any other way.
It seems that here in Australia we are only getting the Gold one!

Won't be buying the Prime if I can get my hands on the 700... What are Asus doing?

I had one pre-ordered until yesterday. I called staples and they still had no official word from asus when their first shipment of transformers was coming in. I saw some of the grey CBIL ones on the FS website and jumped on one of those. It would have been great ti get a champagne transformer but again i don't really care as long as it performs well.

Why do people call it gold? It is silver. It is less gold than the amethyst is purple yet people refer to that as "gray." It looks like brushed aluminum and is why bought it. Looks great and is in perfect working order.
I got one delivered last week from abt.com. No dock yet though.
I also got mine from abt and it does look more silver than gold...I didn't want this color at first but now I'm happy with it

Well.. because it is called champagne gold? I haven't seen it in real life, but on the pictures it appears to be silver yes, strange they called it champagne gold.
My Champagne model from Abt is being delivered today. I also have a Gray from Best Buy, so I'll be comparing colors and will report back in.

Agreed. It's _much_ less gold than the Gray is purple. In comparing the two side-by-side, I'm liking the Champagne much better and can't wait to see the dock. If the Champagne checks out fine (screen bleed, dead pixels, etc.) then the Gray will be going back to Best Buy.
I received my champagne 32GB today. It's a nice brushed silver look.

Anyone receive a champagne gold one from Best Buy? Their website still says coming soon
I got the Gray and my partner got the "Gold" one by accident. (Ebay seller didn't label it correctly). It's really more of a silver with just a tinge of gold just as the gray has only a very light tinge of purple. They are both really beautiful colors in my opinion.
I don't think anyone would go wrong with either one, unless they have their heart set on a particular choice from the beginning.

though the wifi works well enough that I can get by in my house, though I'm still contemplating returning it, when you pay $500 for a premium tablet it shouldn't be slower

Several smaller retailers still have a "notify me"/backorder listing, but it seems the champagne dock has now been removed from Best Buy's site. Amazon used to have a good listing, but now the description says gray (not matching the champagne pictures). Newegg has the gray and AFAIK has never had the champagne dock listed. At my local Gamestop I've been told they have no idea when docks will arrive.
And... would a champagne tablet look bad coupled to a gray dock?

It doesn't look bad at all. It's just a matter of taste. I prefer the matching dock vs the two tone look.

Can someone that did this combo post some detailed photos? I'm considering doing this combo since grey docks often pop up online and b&m.
I'm really tired if Asus's lack of communication. I don't care about a supposed 3g rumor.... I just want to know when they plan on selling champagne docks.
It sucks that they have such little to say about all of the issues. It's starting to annoy me how they're only worried about pushing more prime sales on their fb/twitter and not worried about current owners.

FYI, links are busted.
I should have this configuration by Saturday when my gray dock arrives at my local Best Buy. Unless there is some sort of delay/mix-up, but that never happens with Best Buy...
I was looking to buy a Prime as they had them briefly at Newegg for the Champagne colored version. I'm wondering how that color looks? Is it more silver or is there some type of hue? I'm curious in case it comes back in stock. Thanks for the help.

I have one as well, looks silver in almost all light. Very rarely do I see the goldish tint, but it's in there...barely

There are tons of threads on this already, but that said: I've had a Champagne Gold unit sitting side-by-side with an Amethyst Gray, and my opinion about both colors is they're entirely dependent on the lighting.
Hold it one way against the light and the CG is silverish, hold it another and it's more gold. Hold the AG one way and it's a dark gray, hold it another and it's very purplish. In fact, I gave up on trying to photograph them to show the colors--I never could get the pics to look like them in real life.
My final take is that they're both attractive enough that it doesn't matter to me. And in fact, the CG Prime looks really good with the AG dock. If I'd gotten a good CG unit first, I'd probably have stuck with that as my combo.

It looks really really good, together with the dock it is by far the most attractive tech-toy I've bought. But of course, as a result of it's metal beauty GPS and WiFi are weak at best!
What is funny is that I saw it in stock earlier at Newegg, but now Newegg has all the Primes on the Deactivated list. The site says "Deactivated. This item is currently out of stock and it may or may not be restocked." Guess I should have bought and asked questions later.

i have an app that changes my ratio to 50-50 silver/gold
this is very true, and an excellent picture. mostly silver, looks GORGEOUS with the CG dock

Really? Can you post a picture of this combination? I recently had to return my AG Prime, and my replacement order is for a CG Prime. I still have my AG dock though, which I was planning on returning. If the two look good together though, I might just hang on to it.

NVM, found some pictures online. Looks pretty good together, and would save me the headache of trying to find a gold dock to buy, so think I'm just going to go with what I already have.
I started with the AG prime and dock but had to return my prime. Now I have the CG prime with AG dock and like it way more. just looks cooler imho

It honestly doesn't look that pink in most lights. The pink is quite subtle (much less pink than the rose gold iPhone), more of a pink champagne gold. I thought I would hate it, and bought a dark leather MOFI (Chinese case brand) back cover to hide it. I do use that case a fair bit as it gives good grip and makes the back flat and protects the camera bump, but I also use a Luphie aluminium bumper in the same rose gold as the phone. This shows off the phone's colour, and I find I actually prefer it like that than with the back cover on. Have had quite a few compliments on the phone's style and colour too!
I have the rose gold phone, too. As i bought it wanted to use a black case, but it isn't as ugly as expected and i liked it. ;D Now i use the transparent cover which comes with the phone.
But if you really don't want a rose gold phone, there is an silver version on spemall or the last days at gearbest.

I thought the same, but fortunally it is not that kind of pure nasty pink. The spectrum of pink is wide and this variation looks a lot better in person than in the pictures i have seen of this phone. I love this phone. Anyway all eyes are different it might not be for you

Same here. Before it showed up, I was already shopping for a different colored case, but decided to wait. Turns out that the color grows on you, and for most, the clear case that comes with it is fine. I have to wonder if it's being discontinued, though, given the price difference between the rose-gold and gray colors of the same phone.
I have a feeling that LeEco was targeting the Max 2 Rose Gold to female users ? but realised it was too big ? and hence they have a lot to sell ? so the price is good value ?
