Does anyone know if a Refurb comes with a battery door like the INC2 refurbs did? - HTC Rezound

As title states, just wondering if anyone has gotten a refurb and if so do they send the phone with the back door. Most refurbs dont, but the inc2 did because the back door is needed for signal, as is for the Rezound so just wondering if this is so.
I bought the phone second hand, and I'm having over heating issues, the lady was an angel, she was great, she told me that it is showing no warranty, and then she asked if i bought it new, and i said no, a friend gave it to me.
next thing she asked was for my address!!
Refurb will be here on Wed. hoping it comes with new back door..

Why are refurbs shipped without back doors?

Yes it does. I got a refurb a couple of weeks ago because I couldn't stand the pink buttons and was hoping that a new one would fix the problem and it did come with a back door. Too bad it still didn't fix the pink led light problem lol.

Yep, refurbs come with the back cover but not battery or ibeats.

What??? Is this only for replacing phones without a warranty?

no, refurb is a replacement phone while you're UNDER warranty.

So why would you not get a complete phone? I don't get it.

Yes they do... Mine did but the person that ordered it, didn't know it... The tech in the store said he didn't think they had refurbished devices yet..

When I got my refurbished Verizon told me it wouldn't come with a back or battery. So they put in a order for both of those to come with my phone. Yet when my phone came I had two backs. So i think its safe to not order one even if they say it wont come with it.

dunno, cuz verizon is ****? they've always done this..i remember in like 2006 i had to get my old LG VX8100 replaced because an OTA made my phone not able to acquire cell signal anymore, so i brought it in and they gave me a refurbished, but i had to use my old battery and my old back cover. this is also how they send out phones whenever we order them for a customer in my store..gotta use your battery and battery door on most phones.

So if your battery or antennas go out you're SOL but maybe you'll end up with 2 unusable phones? lol.
Well at least now I know to keep both battery and door should something go wrong.

I have been with ATT, Verizon, and T-Mobile. None of those companies when sending out a refurbished phone sent you EVERYTHING you got with the phone. All they ever send out is a new refurbished phone. Why would they send you a back plate and a batter if you already have them? Have a problem with those? You call and tell them that, then they can send you out a replacement. It's how companies save money.

As I said... now I know to keep the battery and door if something goes wrong. Clearly I didn't know before this thread that I was supposed to which is why I was asking. The other part was a joke.

My refurb Bolts were shipped without battery doors or batteries. The Bionic the swapped me into, they shipped the battery and door separately. The Rezound they shipped to me to replace the Bionic came with the battery door already on it, but the battery shipped separately. I didn't get a charger or earbuds.

Sounds to me it's like the inc2 and will come with the back door.
I think this is because the back door is needed for signal.

Verizon Switched Me From the Charge to the Rezound!

After a month of nagging I finally got bumped up to the rezound for free. Well sort of, I was forced to pay $50 for the battery and battery cover plus next day shipping, but hey I'm not complaining!
So this is my first htc device and I was wondering what I can expect. I know bootloaders are locked unlike samsung devices, but that's pretty much it. If anybody could fill me in on some general knowledge I'd be forever grateful!
haha paid for battery/cover huh? that means they sent you a refurb, most likely i assume?
I am actually getting a Rezound shipped to me as well for a Charge replacement as well. My total came to like $30 with my discount for the battery and cover.
Yea these are basically refurb's or Certified Like New as they like to call them. So I should have mine early next week because I didn't pay for overnight shipping.

Yeah, I'm getting a refurb which means no iBeats, but whatever. I'd end up loosing them in a week anyways.
They exchanged my buddies 3 month old Bionic for free for a brand new Rezound w/ accessories. Seems like they have found a way to make their money off people.

I don't think they really do it to make money because the woman I spoke with gave me the option to buy the battery/cover from somewhere like Amazon if I wanted.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
If they give you a new device they lose money. Sending you a refurb with no battery/cover means they aren't losing anything, especially since you paid for your original device. The rep doesn't make commission selling you accessories so she had nothing to lose advising you about buying elsewhere. The point is, so many people have been trying to trade in their devices they have figured out a way to not take the hit from it.
I would try my hardest to get those iBeats. If you are getting the phone you should get all the accessories with it. This is not replacing a Rezound, which wouldn't ship the accessories.
Haha sucks to be you I got mine with everything free.

I wouldn't be overly worried about the ibeats, they are nothing special except they are worth $100 if you go out and buy them.

Not everybody was fortunate enough to talk to the angel of all tier 2 techs. And it was $30 for the back and battery. I paid the extra $20 to get overnight for those two. I wasn't going to be staring at a paperweight rezound for a week until I got the battery.
When i had an upgrade from citrus to the samsung continuum, they sent the phone free and i went to the vzn store and told em they didnt give me a back or battery, so it was all free

Hopefully. I'll find out tomorrow!
I received mine yesterday and it was just the phone (with a back cover though) in the box. So I was a little disappointed, I was hoping I would get a "kit" like I did when I got my Charge as a replacement for my old Fascinate which came with everything including the retail box.
So I called and tried to see if there was a way I could get the kit and I was basically told that it all depends on what the manager that originally approved it agreed to (plus she said that she doesn't even think that there were any kits available from HTC). So what she did to offset the cost I paid for the battery and cover was to give me a $9.99 credit for each of my lines (2 lines) for 2 months. So basically I made money off of this since I only paid $32 with tax for the cover and battery and will be getting $40 in credits.
So I guess it is better than nothing, but I was hoping to get the iBeats headphones to try out.

Extended Batteries On Sale (GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN!)

I happened to walk into Verizon today and got the OEM extended batter for $32 after taxes! I was taking my girlfriend to look at phones again and asked the rep if they had any in, he said yes, as a matter of fact we have a special going right now for them! Couldn't pass it up!
And, FYI I hate extended batteries, but this phone is a monster and we all know it needs the power! I am very pleased! I would suggest everyone try if they don't already have one!
Yep, I picked one up today also. They're 50% off.
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk
They actually argued with me today. Told the guy to scan it and see, and then he's like, oh I guess they are on sale. Swear sometimes that verizon didn't want my money...
Sent from my Rezound using Tapatalk
I had no idea they were on sale, the rep handed it off to another rep and after my Military discount told me a different price. I told him the first dude said it was $29, he went to check and sure enough. Good thing the first guy mentioned it, otherwise I would probably have paid full price.

I picked it up earlier around 2pm I put it in the phone to drain it(45% upon installing), and even with 4G outtage and LTE antenna on I am still at 12%... lol. It is now 11:11.
Edit: Another thing I like, the antenna contacts are metal rather than that paper like crap in the stock back. Also, this battery doesn't seem to get as hot.
Great news. I'll have to buy online now. Thanks

I would think this goes in the accessories sub forum. Just saying. And I got my battery around $30 when I picked up my phone on Nov 18. Definitely gives the phone a more solid feel. They sell cases that fit with the extended battery. And a holster also.
This wasn't an accessory discussion, this was a heads up to folks that they are on sale if they hadn't already known. Notice the broad general discussion? Weren't you threatening to block me? lol, get out of my thread troll.

Called the number. Told him the tech support guy that I had been having problems with the battery door being creaky, and going to Tmobile stores and them not being able to help.
He transferred me to the Parts & Warranty department. I told the rep the situation, that I have had problems with the battery door/housing being creaky, not staying locked to the phone.
She checked my warranty on the phone, and even though I just bought this phone used off craigslist, the warranty was still active. She informed me that we are able to get ONE FREE replacement of each type ONCE PER warranty of a HTC phone. Once you call in ONCE they mark your warranty on the phone, and won't let you call back again.
She said that I could get a free replacement battery door/housing, USB cable, SD card, and battery. So I told her i'd like one of everything I could get.
She said Okay, I got email confirmation, and next day it was shipped via Fedex. Will have the package next tuesday.
EXTREMELY happy considering, the housing goes for $30-60, the charger $10-20, the battery $15-25. I'm not even 100% sure i'll be keeping this phone, but now I can sell it as mint condition on ebay for at least 100 bucks more than I paid for it.

Doubt that will work. you think if I told them my story would understand and allow me to send the cracked one back.
Also I already had the screen replaced once but it ended up in the person who fixed it screwed up the capacitive lights and did not seal screen on tight enough so dust got behind the screen.

Verizon wont let me do that. I just talked to them. SO I got a better idea! I pay the $100 they give me phone with battery, charger, memory card and I sell mine the one I said got "stolen" on ebay for $100 and technically I will have my money back.

[Q] Think I broke my Thunderbolt

I accidentally knocked my thunderbolt off the desk while it was charging. I think i broke the micro usb connection inside. It was bent at first, but I eventually got the usb to plug in. Plugging in the usb cable now causes the led to flash and it powers down pretty quickly.
Any way to easily fix this, or do I have to go the insurance route? Anyone had good luck with insurance?
Thanks

If you're insured, I'd go with the insurance route. If you weren't, I'd definitely give you some instructions on how to fix it.

The same thing happened to me.
I ended up having to send it into a repair shop to get it replaced.
It only cost me 55 dollars and only about a week's waiting time.
But at this point in time, isn't it just worth it to get the S3?
Asurion sent me a refurb. It only took one day to arrive, but the damn grill over the speakers is already peeling off and the battery cover doesn't sit flush. I'm more than a little unhappy with the results so far. I'll have to see if they can send me a replacement stat.

As long as you have a claim open with the insurance company they will keep sending you phones till they send you a New one instead of a refurbished one. I've had to do this numerous times and now I have a collection of parts. Thank you insurance

They offered to give me a rezound to replace the second thunderbolt. I asked for another bolt, but if it is fubar I may consider a rezound. Is there anyone who has used both who has any input?

The rezound is considered an "upgrade" to the Thunderbolt, but I prefer the Thunderbolt personally. The Rezound community, from my understanding, isn't the best or most friendly group... but they do have some decent development.
