[Q] Using scandinavian letters on the Transformer Prime - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hello.
I have a couple questions about the Transformer prime.
First of all i was wondering if you were able to use scandinavian letters on the keyboard if it is bought in the US. I need to have Icelandic letters on it but i'm not sure if i will be able to use the keyboard to write on it which is essential since i am planning on using it for university.
Also i was wondering about the size, is the keyboard about the size of an iPad 2 or smaller? I have a eeePC 900HA and the keyboard is a little bit too small for me. It gets annoying to write after a little while. If anyone has a 900HA or a similar netbook it would be awesome to get a size comparison.
Cheers

I have a taiwan version of the keyboard dock, and I'm able to use danish keyboard layout. The actual danish keys like æ, ø and å are not on the physical keyboard obviously . You should be able to get stickers from an internet vendor.
I'll see if icelandic is available when I get home, but it would surprise me if it is not.
I think the keyboard layout is comparable to the asus netbooks I have tried out. I would not recommend the prime, netbooks, Ipads or any none laptop without a desktop OS for study. You'd be far better of with a real computer like a Thinkpad or Macbook. But that's just my opinion regarding computers for university, the Prime has already taken over all my needs for a laptop at home

Thank you for that and i will check this post to see if you can find the icelandic keyboard for it.
I don't need a powerhouse for my school computer because i don't use any powerhungry programs. What i need to use is a browser, view pdf files, email and a software that allows me to view, edit and create word documents, powerpoint spreadsheets and excel documents. Oh and also dropbox.
If the keyboard is as small as on the netbooks such as the 900HA i won't buy it. I have been using a netbook for school since the fall and i still haven't gotten used to the small keyboard.
I also have a pretty decent PC at home which i use for everything that the school computer can't handle. Also i tend to write essay's on it because i have a dual monitor setup and can have open documents on one screen and what i am writing on the other.
In what way do you not recommend the transformer for school, it would be very nice to have your input since you have one of those and have experience with using it. What are it's main drawbacks and so forth?

So I have just checked the language, and there is no keyboard support for Icelandic . There is danish, norwegian (bokmaal) and swedish.
My reasons for not choosing a tablet or the prime for study is that the keyboards are cramped, and the OSs are not supporting a full fledged office suite like MS office or Libre office atm. You will be a first mover no doubt, and that might spell trouble when things get busy at uni with exams and so on. Don't get me wrong, the Prime would still be fantastic for research and notes, but as a worktool it cannot compete with a macbook or thinkpad in regards to keyboard, OS and academical app support. Come to think of it, the above is mostly a concern, I haven't made enough experience with the prime to fully back it up.
If you can afford it, the buy both. Unis often have great discounts on apple and lenovo products - otherwise you can buy heavily discounted thinkpads over the net from germany from sites like ok1.de. Have a look at an X201 model from Lenovo or a Macbook Air before you decide.
PS: If you like my answers, then I suggest you hit the thanks button

Can someone test how it works to write with the Swedish letters Å Ä Ö on a Keyboard from the USA / Taiwan.
Understand that these are not on the physical keyboard. But would be nice to know what to do to write Å Ä Ö
If you use Swedish as the system language and writing language. Will the Keyboard dock fix so that Å Ä Ö get there own buttons?
Or if you can write Å Ä Ö Where on the keyboard do these ports?
Works the keyboard dock with Swiftkey Tablet X? If it does, then maybe you can write AO and word prediction automatically changes the AO to Å Ä Ö
Or did Asus's own keyboard also spelling and word prediction.
Hope someone understands what I'm trying to say.

Bluetooth Keyboard?

Does anyone know of a bluetooth keyboard that works with their folio 100? I've been looking at the ones from Freedom, but it seems that the drivers are only beta.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
The Logitech diNovo Edge works perfect on Folio 100 with FolioMod v1.4
Cheers
Apple ..
The Bluetooth Keyboard works like a chram, though if you like to use the numeric Keypad it lacks some Functions.
The Trackpad as PointDevice should also be working if you install Support for Pointing Devices. Dunno wich App you might be using but there are several.
*self-edit*
If the Keyboard puts out weird Chars once connected you should try pressing [fn]+ [f6] cos thats like on a Notebook Keypad if the blue Numeric Part is active.
can you use the keyboard from apple on the folio? or on any android tablet or phone? can you use this keyboard on a windows computer?
I use the Microsoft Bluetooth® Mobile Keyboard 6000. It works great.

I use Trust 17809. I have remaped the layout for to have the good letters in the right place. Originally it's for iPad.
Hi ! I bought a simple bluetooth keyboard and checked youtube for instructions to make it work. It works with AAA batteries and it's quite cheap (20 euros maybe or less)

Bluetooth Keyboard

Does the Photon only work with the Motorola BT keyboard? I have tried 2 BT keyboards I already have and I cannot get them to pair with the phone. I tried both the 0000 and 1234 passkeys the phone tells me but neither works. Neither of my keyboards came with passkeys. Thanks in advance for any help you folks can offer.
I just paired mine to an Apple Wireless Keyboard (bluetooth) that I had laying arond and it worked fine.
Random note about pairing an apple keyboard though:
After the phone asks you to put in a pin number and you hit ok, immediately type the same pin into the keyboard and hit enter. Then it will pair fine.
Hmm I will have to give that entering the key on the keyboard a try.
Yup that did the trick. I am using the Targus tablet keyboard and I did as you said, I entered the passkey on the phone and as soon as I hit OK I entered the same number on the keyboard and hit enter and boom I was in business. Only thing though I don't know if your using SPb 3D shell but I had to uninstall it because everytime I connect the keyboard the whole SPB shell crashes. Anyone else using SPB 3D shell experience this?
Sorry, I'm not using that. Is it a launcher? I'm using launcher pro.

I got the mini bluetooth keyboard from Amazon to work. Works pretty well so far. The layout is a little funky and I haven't found a way to quickly send when texting.

Any others with a good functioning fold away keyboard and portable mouse for this device and perhaps usable for tablet pc's that support BT?

Best product I have seen for portability/functionality: Logitech diNovo Mini
In theory, should any keyboard that properly implements canonical Bluetooth HID work with the Photon (at least, well enough to work properly with Connectbot, including cursor keys)? Or in more concrete terms, has anybody found a Bluetooth HID keyboard that worked with Cyanogen, but DIDN'T work as expected on a Photon with stock firmware?
(by the way, I'm also open to suggestions for a keyboard that can be non-awkwardly pocketed, and is suitable for both panic-stricken sysadmin work with Connectbot involving bash & SQL *and* casual web browsing while eating at BK. I could almost deal with one that's "phone-like" as long as the center-to-center key pitch is at least as wide as the Epic, it has a number row, and the symbols are in the right places... but with more empty space surrounding the keys so I won't have to press with my fingertip to avoid pressing an adjacent key. I'd totally kill for the folding Jorno KB I saw on Wired & Gizmodo, but it looks like THAT one won't actually be available until 2012 even though they started sending out press releases and demo units last year).
Update: does anybody have an opinion (good, bad, awesome-if-it-worked-but-it-doesn't, etc) about this particular keyboard:
http://www.dracotek.com/bluetooth-w...e-smartphones-pc-laptop-and-more-bfkip01.html
It looks like the latest incarnation of the 4-way folding keyboard design that's been around since at least the Palm V (now, with bluetooth and USB-recharged lithium battery). I really like it (on paper, at least), because it's the only keyboard like this I've ever found that has all the keys I care about in the right places. I've been lusting after a keyboard like this for literally years, but it seems like my phones have always been one version away from compatibility with it (sigh). Now that I have a phone that literally knows how to deal with proper Bluetooth HID out of the box, I'm dying to finally buy one the moment I have an excuse to believe it's likely to work ;-)
I picked up the Official Moto Keyboard at Target for $48 - Normally $69.99 - it was marked as clearance - couldn't pass it up
Connected and works very well with the Hacked webtop

That worked with the CE Compass Mini Bluetooth as well. If only the documentation had mentioned that critical step.
The CE Compass bluetoothhas a mouse ponter control, uses AAA batteries, and is cheaper than Logitech but probably not as robust.
It is about half the size of an iPad. So it could go into a big pocket.
Thanks to follow
Well, for what it's worth, I've successfully paired and used both a DiNovo keyboard and MX900 mouse. I haven't bought a pocketable keyboard though. At the moment, I'm trying to find an app compatible with the Hero that can emulate a real, honest to god Bluetooth HID keyboard and Mouse (99% of the apps in Android Market don't emulate HID, and require a special server app that doesn't work on phones/tablets at the other end). If I can get the Hero to work and pair with my Photon as its keyboard/mouse, I'll be psyched... I already own it, it's just sitting in a drawer anyway, it's half the size of actual pocketable bluetooth keyboards with mouse capabilities, and I can do Graffiti on it instead of fumbling with keys scaled for a midget

the first one is the cheapest. i believe the other ones are just a lil newer. just make sure u order bluetooth and not 2.4ghz.
Those look nice but don't need a touch pad tho. I never use webtop not found myself ib a situation to need to use webtop since my laptop is always near by. I'm just looking for a mini keyboard that will work.

[Q] Thinking of Asus Transformer Prime

So I am thinking of the Asus Transformer Prime tablet, to replace my laptop, but I have a few questions.
I mainly want something light, with great battery life, that I can quickly edit code on the go, whether it be Java, C++, HTML, etc. I don't want to limit myself. Tablets like the Transformer are nice because they're lightweight, large screen devices with touch interfaces, and if I want to type like on a keyboard, I can just plug it into the keyboard dock and type away. Very convenient!
Does anybody know of any Source code editors for Android with syntax highlighting? Or just really good editors in general (without syntax highlighting but would be excellent for coding on the go)? Also, if I use github, I read that you can edit online with Ace, does this work on Android tablets?
Thanks for all the help!
try touchqode, it's free and you can pay for the Pro version if you like it
another alternative would be to just use vim or emacs from the terminal..
i am agree with the above user as i have tried this in my tablet and "touchqode" works perfectly, and thus would like to recommend you the same !

[Q] TF201 dock keys size ? (for labels)

Hi all.
Just bought a TF201 transformer prime, but it was without the dock/keyboard.
I have searched for a new AZERTY belgian layout keyboard and they're quite hard to find.
(cue in long rant about marketing decisions... but this is offtopic.)
A more sensible option seems to go for a QWERTY keyboard, set it as AZERTY layout in the input device specs, and use labels from 4keyboard.com or equivalent provider to change the keyboard to an azerty one.
However there are plenty of key labels sizes ... what's the key size on a TF201-dock ?
Did anyone try keyboard label yet ? any tips or caveats ?

I can't answer most of your questions as I am a US English sort of person. But as far as key size, here is a picture of my prime keyboard dock sitting on top of an old Dell desktop keyboard I happened to have lying around. Hope that helps.

Not as good as a millimeter size, but informative anyways - they look about the same size, even somehow bigger.

Lenovo Yoga Book vs Chuwi HiBook Pro

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new tablet but I'm not sure how much I want to spend. I've seen this comparison around and I was wondering what's your opinion?
It's the just released Lenovo Yoga Book vs the latest Chuwi HiBook Pro.
Similar specs but different prices. Is it worth spending so much more for a slightly better processor? The HiBook Pro has a much sharper screen (2560 x 1600) and it's a lot cheaper.
I have a chuwi hibook 10.1 and it's pretty nice, esp given the price vs other windows 10 tab and Ultrabooks. Plus it has the dual boot option of Android 5.1. The tablet itself is a good value.
The keyboard docks on these chuwi tabs, and many other cheap Chinese tabs from what I've gathered, is also pretty nice, given one glaring oversight. The touchpad. It ships with no special touchpad driver, instead using the generic MS HID Mouse driver. The problem is that there are no touchpad options.. no sensitivity settings, no swipe or gesture settings. It does support 2 finger scrolling and tapping, so it does work, but it is super sensitive. the bigger problem is that Win10 has all these mouse gestures built in, so when using it, you are always activating mouse gestures, which makes it almost useless. For example, if you move your finger from top edge in downward direction, it triggers the Windows+D hotkey (show/hide desktop). This happens all the time, as does other window key shortcuts.
Chuwi says they don't build the keyboard, and have no idea who's touchpad hardware is used. So far no real solution has been offered to make the pad register as a specific device, or even utilize the ms precision touchpad driver (which would enable options for some adjustments in Windows).
So basically, if you're planning to use the tablet as a tablet, it's fine. If you plan to use a mouse all the time it's fine. But if you plan to use the integrated touchpad, you might want to consider something else. It's my understanding that many other cheap tablets are using the same keyboard, more or less, and have the same touchpad issues. My best advice is to do lots of research before you buy if this is a concern to you.

Thanks for the feedback! Really helpful.
I guess I'll go with Chuwi then, also because they're running this promotion: promotion.chuwi. com/chuwi-12th-anniversary-celebration/
So I could even get it for free! Win/Win.
