I love the 1.6 launcher with its 6 home screens, I'm just wondering is anyone has tried bring it across to 2.1?

Yeah, the choice of having a different background image for each home screen was nice but i think i'd miss live wallpapers
...unless you could have a different live wallpaper for each screen which would be awesome! (but very heavy on the battery!)

Try it, flash the 1.6 FW get root vi universal androot -get root explorer from the market, locate the launcher .apk on the system copy paste it to youre sd card
flash back to 2.1 FW and try install the .apk from your sd card
Cant say i have tried it, what i have done is delete the stock launcher [launcher2.apk] so i just use adw launcher as default

Sorry if I am reapiting the question. I have streak purchased from uk dell (not O2). Some days back I updated with some new build 6267 which came on air update. But still I did not upgrade to 2.1. I am confuse whether I should wait for dell official update or I can do myself. If any body already upgrade build 6267 00UE Streak to 2.1, please help me. Give me step by step instruction. Thanks is advance.

This Topic has nothing to do with upgrading so you have posted in the wrong thread my friend, The answer to your Question is in a lot of posts around here so a little light reading will serve you well.
And the Answer is NO dell has not updated to 2.1 yet only 02 you can upgrade using 02 but i would advise waiting for the dell release

There is a fix for those unhappy Last.fm users out there....Just fools apps into recognizing Android Music Player...starts automatically in background..low memory footprint...

I would have thought you would have had a free trial first to see how it goes but saying that will download later and thanks for you imput and work
Android Market lets you try for 24h before actually charging you money. Just get it and cancel the buy when not working. I didn't think of a trial because of that.

2.1 on an O2-UK Streak.

So open question: could anybody capture the intent sent by dell music player on 2.1?
must be ending with ".metachanged" or ".playstatechanged"

Need This Intent
I just NEED this intent captured for further development.
I would be willing to capture it for you. I am unable to get last.fm to work with 2.2.
No clue how to do what you want done though so I might need a little tutorial.
Why bother using Android Music Player..Use Double Twist instead, works perfect with last.fm. Just saying.. ;-)

It seems like my laptop is blocked to install any applications and programs, so the point is can I tether internet from my streak to the laptop without install anything on it (my laptop using win XP)

Yes, as I understand it, your laptop will just see your streak as a wifi hotspot.
As long as you have permissions to can connect to wifi networks, then that'll work.

For USB-Tethering with older Versions of Android (1.6 and 2.1) you need for example "EasyTether". It is an App for Android and a Desktop-tool for the PC. It is free. Because you have to install this on your Laptop, it is problematic with the permission.
I'm wondering if I can use wired tether with my streak?

I tried it with my Streak with froyo and a Netbook (EeePC) with XP: USB tethering works plug-and-play without installing software. Also Wireless tethering works perfectly without additional software.

Hi after installing the latest rom from dj Steve, video call from fring became unsupported. Did I did something wrong here?

did you do the noffc option in the txt file?
noffc - this reenables fring support in the build by replacing the required frameworks and libs

Just check whats in the textfile. If you want to change something just edit the textfile and flash 1.6.1 again.
What you didn't do was read the installation instructions!

I'm going to guess that your install flipped out and just did defaults on everything. You can't include ALL the versions of the pixel density. Or seperate launchers. Try editing the file to only one pixel density, one launcher, see how that goes. If that doesn't work, you might have to go back to 1.5.1. then factory reset then back to 1.6.1

This is a Problem with Steve's ROM and should have been asked in Steve's thread and not in open Forum
Does anybody else you facebook on there dell streak and it looks like the old facebook apps all my other devices the facebook is the newer version but since I used my dell streak its the older version. If so.does anyone know why or if theres a way of getting the newer version thanks

open google play and search facebook... you will get many facebook alternative there... :good:

I did a search with: facebook 1.9.7. Download the apk and installed it...it worked for me
