From what I've been able to find today (just got my Lumia), unless you've got it dev unlocked and can backup using cabsender, then the only backups that we have are done through Zune as a kind of system restore point created before doing updates. Supposedly can only be restored to the device that was backed up.
Wish there were a better backup option.

Normally everything is sync to cloud or PC so you really don't need a backup software. The only thing you can't backup is SMS/MMS.

I updated to 8107 using refurbishing method and it didn't sync back any apps I installed. Thats not good :/

Whoa? So there's absolutely no way to backup SMS on the phone? I remember Windows Mobile 6.1 allowed that to happen via the cloud. It would suck for people that are using the Lumia 800 and migrating to the Lumia 900, but cannot transfer their SMS over.

Of course we need a comprehensive backup solution.
Not only can we not backup SMS/MMS, but we cannot backup apps, appdata, and game saves/progress.
Look at the iPhone (as much as I don't like them) as an example. Full backups made of the devices and can be restored to another device.

There is an app called Reinstaller on the marketplace that will copy all your apps and then reinstall them after a reset etc.
Barrie

Reinstalled does not copy your apps. It provides the list off all of the apps that have been downloaded via your Live ID and allows you to choose which to reinstall ins batch process. It does not backup or restore specific app data.

But if you have to reinstal some app that you already paid, is it mean that you have to pay it again or will be able to instal it from market without second payment?

I want the app data and game saved backed up, silly. If I have to hard reset, I don't emwant to have to start game progress from the beginning

When you re-install, marketplace 'knows' if you have previously bought the app and will re-install it

I took off faves, modes as well. Also amazon, setup, all themes, swype if you don't use it. I think that was about it. Make sure you do a good nandroid backup before you do it, so you can restore all of it if you need to take it back in for some reason.

With Titanium backup, you don't have to uninstall, if you want to keep them in case you need them later. You can simply 'freeze' the apps. This way, you keep them, they just go out of system memory and the icons will not show up either on your Launcher.

You cannot delete system apps via Titanium Backup. You can only backup the data. You will need Root Explorer or something equivalent to delete the system app. Make sure you make a backup first though.

Ti Backup cannot backup system apps - only their data. It can, however, remove them with the 'force remove' function.
But, a major +1 for freezing them instead. It might just save your ass, and it serves the same function as deleting the app anyway.
Can someone please share the htc lockscreen app from the app folder I mistakenly deleted it and the oden file

I wouldn't remove friend stream if you plan on using facebook. What happened, was the phone was constantly looking for friendstream to "sync" but since the app was gone, it never reported back as completing syncing...so i'd always have the circle with arrows "sync" in my task bar. got so annoying.
had no problem when I froze friend stream and still use FB.
Anyone know what the my device, my account and search people is listed under in titanium?
I can't seem to find them.
Also any one have a complete list of what can you can freeze or uninstall?
So far I only freeze but here is what I have:
AppPack Asphalt com.tmobile.theme x6 demo videos Faves x2 flickr Friend Stream x2 Gallery I use 3d HTC Weather locationPicker x2 Mail x2 Email account messager x2 my Downloads Provider (No clue what it does) my modes news x2 peep quickoffice ringtone trimmer rockband screen share setup stocks x2 t-mo tv themes provider (no clue what it does) TTS Service Twitter Visual Voice Mail Voicemail Weather x2 Weather Agent and provider
Has anyone uninstalled the genius button app after remapping the button to the search function? I don't use it at all and its always running...

Titanium Backup is idiot

I´ve made titanium backup of all my apps (stock froyo rom) then installed Bi-Winning rom and now I can´t restore my phone to how it was with Titanium, it doesn´t lists any of the apps I had installed neither the "interface" settings (volume, profiles, icon settings), the stupid titanium backup lost all my data and apps, where are them??? I have backup them!!!
do you have a filter on? Did you go menu, batch, restore missing?

Also, Before flashing anything new .... ALWAYS.... just copy everything on to your computer in a folder. Then, if the flashing cause any data loss you also have a secure back up to restore from. BUT 1st follow s15274 advice, it is the obvious do that first

Yes I have all the filters set to ALL. Man this program is so idiot. I hate it. It doesn´t work. You install a new ROM and all your apps are missing, there´s no backup. I´m gonna destroy this thing. Could it be a problem because I did a "restore factory/clear data" on CWR before flashing the new ROM? or this idiot backup program is just a **** plain and simple? WHERE IS MY STUFF??

I don´t know why people post when they don´t know exactly what they are saying. I have just uninstalled Titanium PRO and re-installed Titanium non-pro and all my apps appear again. Very strange. Could it be something related to a "root" version of the non-pro? Well the PRO should also be root.

There aren't separate pro and non-pro apps. All the pro app does is unlock features in the base app. So idk what you screwed up but you did somewhere. Did you legitimately buy the pro app or sideload it?

This thread is what's wrong with xda.
soon as i read the thread title... i knew something was wrong.
just to make this thread a little worth, I´ve found a way of restoring all the apps without the annoying titanium messages for each app. Here is how:
Make a backup with both MyBackup root and titanium backup free, for both app + data.
After installing a new rom, perform the restore of app+data first in MyBackup. It will not popup any button durring the restore, but it will fail to restore apps settings (data). After that, run the batch restore operation in Titanium but in the last screen select just "data", not app+data. It will restore all apps settings (data) correctly. All free.
Congratulations...you found a way to profit from other people's work without having to give anything in return.
If you're going to be a pirate, no one can stop you. Just keep it to yourself and don't come whining for help when it bites you in the butt.

Automatically installing apps after a hard reset

Hi
I recently hard reset my HTC sensation phone. When I log on to Market Android on the Internet it says I have 33 installed applications (ones installed before the hard reset). Can I automatically install these apps without me having to go and manually install them one by one. I was told this should occur automatically but this did not happen with my phone.
Thanks in advance!
If you have backup your data to Google server, it will automatically download back when you sign in into phone.

Barclays app backup with Titanium Backup?

Hi all. I have Barclays app installed and runs great without any issues (yes Rooted). But when I do a backup of the app so i can say eg flash a clean install of the same rom and then restore it. It no longer works? I have to call Barclays up and they have to delete my sign up info on there side so that I can do the first up again. This is the only thing stopping me getting Titanium Backup pro app as want to support the dev and use the app regularly. If anyone has any advice or a solution I would be very greatful

When you are restoring the Barclays app, don't restore the app data, just restore the app alone.
But I could download off Google play and enter details again. But I am hoping I can do a restore of the app and data to save entering the details in again

Its the same with the natwest app. You cant restore backed up data for security reasons.
All I do is install the app, clear data and then launch app and set it back up, only takes a few seconds to get sms code and back in business.
